Female Half-Orc Rogue 1

Grim sighs. (She was really hoping they'd at least release the dog.) "They never play by my rules," she grumbles then nods to Augrim.

On her next turn, if her readied action hasn't been activated, she will break position and go for the dog.

Augrim gives up on readying an action and instead casts bless on everybody this 'round'.

Female Human (Varisian) Bard / 6

Arianna raises a hand to stay Grim. "No one move, let them come to us" she whispers " I have just the spell for them"

If they're waiting, after casting his spell, Augrim will turn his attention to the door at his back, moving up next to it, and, starting next round, ready to attack anybody trying to come through it and flank them.

Uh, friends? They may be fleeing out a back door. We have no one outside, and we didn't check for exits out the back. Jawn will turn and run back down the stairs.

Licktoad GM

The man runs comes back around the corner, running to the intruders, and tentatively strikes at Grim with a dagger.

round 1:
attack: 1d20 ⇒ 17
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Two other ruffians move in to block the passage. The mangy dog cowers behind the newcomers, but continues to bark.

--- --- MAP UPDATED --- ---

Jawn:
Outside, all seems quiet. You hear a scuffle back behind you, where the others are. To your left are the main doors, and ahead of you is another door, mirror to the one you've just exited. On your right, the narrow street curves around toward the side of the mission.

Up next: Grim
Arianna
Augrim
Jawn

Female Half-Orc Rogue 1

Did Grim get her readied action when he came up? She was waiting till her next turn before she abandoned it.

Edit: Nevermind, should have looked at the map first. He didn't enter the square she was readying for. Okay, that makes her angry. :)

Female Half-Orc Rogue 1

Grim attacks the man.

Greataxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Sigh.

She hits the railing, almost getting Arianna instead.

Licktoad GM

Which square were you aiming for? If you were just waiting for him to move into range, then you do get the attack. If it had landed, I don't see why it wouldn't count.

As the man approaches, Grim lunges with her greataxe, but swings wide. The large blade cleave through the stair railing, showering Arianna with splinters. The man responds with a jab from his dagger, leaving a thin crimson trail along her side.

    Next up: Arianna
    Augrim
    Jawn
    Splithog Crew

I specified I was aiming for J15 so that I could get the flank with Awgrim. Oh well.

DM

Spoiler:

Looking at the other stairs, Jawn considers running up to flank the gang members, but Arianna's words echo in his mind "I have just the spell for them..." Trusting his new friends are in good hands, Jawn will exit the building. I'm not sure how long it will take, but he is going to run around the building looking for other exits, obvious escape methods (ie, a ladder that can be lowered, a pipe that can be climbed, a nearby roof that can be jumped to). Depending on what he sees, he might stop to cover a way of retreat, or he may circle around again and join the rest of the team.

Female Human (Varisian) Bard / 6

Arianna will attempt of vault the railing behind the bad guy to space J-13
Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Or maybe she wont

If she makes it she will cast Color Spray blanketing the area J10-12 and K11-12.

Will save DC: 15

Licktoad GM

Arianna grabs the railing to pull herself over, but the wood, shattered by Grim’s axe blade, breaks free in her hands.

Licktoad GM

(Jawn - A double move will get you to Area 2)

Jawn’s Search:
--- --- MAP --- ---

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Moving down the road to the South, you find a small courtyard (Area 2) at the back of the mission. The gate is rusted shut, but you can see double doors leading inside. (at area H15, H16)

The gate is rusted shut but you could easily hop the fence, to gain access. Several footprints lead in the direction of the tree trunk, (D14) whose branches brush up against the South wall of the second floor windows.

Augrim’s Turn

I assume this is the round after Augrim casts his bless spell.

Rather than simply waiting for some bad guys to come through the door at F15 to flank him, he'll try to the door himself. If it opens easily, he'll open it and move through into the room beyond, looking for some means of coming out in the main corridor behind the bad guys. If it doesn't open easily, he'll try to kick it down.
Strength check:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Licktoad GM

The door is unlocked, and opens with a creak. The small room is empty except for a stained mattress and some burnt-out candles.

F15, not I15

Licktoad GM

The lead ruffian slides closer to Augrim, (I.15) and jabs at him with a dagger.

Attack:1d20 ⇒ 17
damage:1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

”Oy! Sound the bell! Alert the Pauper!”

The other two thugs advance toward our heroes. Grim gets an AOO on the lead thug.

Each takes a shot at Grim with their shortswords. The first leaves shallow gash on Grim’s arm, and the second misses wildly.

rolls:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10

Down the hall from Grim, to the west, a door opens (F15) and an elven head pops out momentarily, before ducking inside again.

ATTN Grim:
I messed up a roll earlier – you only took 4 points of damage from Kr’s attack, not 6.

    Next up, Grim
    Arianna
    Augrim
    Jawn

Female Half-Orc Rogue 1

Attack of Opportunity: Greataxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

On her regular turn, if the guy she hit during the AoO is still up, she'll attack him again. Otherwise, she'll go for the other one.
Greataxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
She hits the railing again. :)

I'm going to be away for most of the afternoon/evening, so I'm going to post Jawn's next action(s).

Spoiler:

Jawn is going to move to A12 where he can watch the south windows as well as the west face of the building. He'll train his crossbow on the windows by the tree, expecting someone to flee that way. If someone comes out and it looks like he has a round before they get to the ground, he'll cast True Strike and fire. If it looks like multiple people are trying to escape that way, he'll move up and cast Color Spray to get as many as he can.

I keep saying, Augrim tried the door at F15, not I15. He had no reason to try circling round the bad guys by opening a door that obviously wouldn't lead him where he wanted to go!

Female Human (Varisian) Bard / 6

Arianna Will once again try to vault over the railing.
Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
I'm guessing that the bandits who attacked Grim are now in J14 & 15 so she will land in square J13
Afraid of getting her comrades in the area of her spell Arianna turns and casts Grease coating squares J11 & 12 and K11 & 12.
Concentration check (DC:17): 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 4 = 9
or maybe she won't

Yes, you are totally, right, Augrim - I apologize. I was rushed IRL when posting that. I also neglected to update the map completely.

Augrim sees a sign on the door, reading Bell Tower. He kicks the door nearly off its hinges, to reveal a startled elf standing across the room, taking aim with a shortbow through the narrow gaps in the board-covered windows. Below the windows, a coiled rope lies against the wall, one end tied to a support beam.

In the middle of the room hangs another rope, leading up into a higher floor.

>

Thug AOO:
1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1

With much of the railing chopped away by Grim's axe, Arianna has no trouble leaping up to the action. The creep nearest her flails his sword about, endangering himself more than Arianna. The weathered floor beneath the thugs becomes slick as ice, with a gesture from the bard. The two lead attackers are taken off their feet, but the man nearest Arianna maintains his footing.

Reflex Saves:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d20 ⇒ 81d20 ⇒ 19

Licktoad GM

Jawn moves around the mission to watch for anyone trying to escape. He notices that the ground around the tree seems well trod, and there seems to be a sack stashed in a hollow of the trunk. Deciding to leave the inspection for later, he scans the area for trouble.

Gx The archer in the belltower takes one look at Augrim, drops his bow, and leaps for the center rope and begins to climb.
(Provokes AOO from Augrim)

Climb Check:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Kr & Bu The two fallen men struggle to their feet, and tread unsteadily out of the greased area. (Grim gets AOO on Bu)

Acrobatics Check:
1d20 ⇒ 191d20 ⇒ 18

The lead villain, with one direction left to him, moves down the hall toward Augrim, and thrusts with his dagger, which deflects again off of the dwarf’s armor.

rolls:
1d20 ⇒ 171d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

His comrade skitters across the slick surface, and turns to snarl at Grim - the rage in his eyes in stark contrast to his young innocent face.

The last young thug once again flails pathetically at Arianna, blade clattering against the wooden stair rail.

1d20 ⇒ 3

Licktoad GM

The mangy yellow dog continues to bark, and backs away from Arianna to the North. A door opens there, and an old wrinkly head with beady red eyes pops through.

"Can a man find no peace?!?! Silence that beast before…"

The words die in his mouth as he sees the chaos in the hallway. He pales visibly, and slams the door again.

The grease is in the wrong area, Arianna wanted to grease the area between the two stairs. She bright enough not to cut herself off from the rest of the group

Licktoad GM

Arianna:
Let's figure this out in the OOC Thread

Augrim activates his healing judgement.

Attack of opportunity on Gx: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 1 = 15; damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5

Unless that AoO took down the archer, Augrim will continue his efforts against that opponent.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 1 = 16; damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 = 11

Licktoad GM

Aurgim’s initial misses, and the elf strats to climb the rope. The bell at the top lets out a thunderous peal.

Bringing his battle axe around for another attack, he cleaves through mail and flesh - the elf falls to the floor in a motionless heap.

Next up: Arianna & Grim

Female Half-Orc Rogue 1

Grim attacks the nearest one.

Greataxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Sigh, except for that AoO, I can't hit the broadside of a barn this fight.

Licktoad GM

[spoiler=Grim]When they moved from the greased area, you had an AOO - What you just rolled will count for that. You get your normal round, now.

As the men scramble from the greased floor, Augrim swings at the nearest foe, but misses.

--- --- MAP UPDATED --- ---

Female Half-Orc Rogue 1

In that case, let's hope for some better luck!

Grim attacks again, getting noticeably angry at her lack of accuracy so far.

Greataxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Sigh. There's not going to be much left of that railing at this rate. :)

Grim yells in rage.

Licktoad GM

I'd like to file a formal complaint against the Paizo dice rolling system.

Arianna's turn, then the baddies

Female Human (Varisian) Bard / 6

In a spinning pirouette, arianna unwraps the scarf tied around her waist and wraps it around the bandit's legs
Trip attempt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Pulling his legs out from underneath him and spilling him onto the greased floor.

Licktoad GM

The young man smacks his head on the floor and looks around, dazed. He suddenly, squeezes his eyes shut, and goes limp.

Arianna:
Sense Motive:1d20 ⇒ 19

The boy is offering no resistance, and seems to be feigning his attacks. He seems more afraid of the other bandits than of you and your crew.

Next up: the baddies

Female Human (Varisian) Bard / 6

Arianna whispers "Stay down and you may yet live through this day"

Licktoad GM
Arianna Rothschild wrote:
Arianna whispers "Stay down and you may yet live through this day"

He peeks out through one eye, then squeezes his eyes tightly, again.

Kr Augrim’s opponent attempts to knock past him into the belltower, but the stout dwarf holds his position.

Overrun vs. CMD 13:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Bu His companion growls at Grim, but takes no chances with the slippery floor between them.

Is Jawn back, yet? If not, I still have him watching the courtyard.

Next up: Grim
Arianna
Augrim
Jawn

Jawn is still watching the courtyard, ready to puncture anyone who comes out. He is straining hard to hear anything of the action inside.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Licktoad GM

Jawn definitely hears the mission bell ring briefly - it is loud enough to be heard halfway across Riddleport.

Female Half-Orc Rogue 1

Not wanting to chance the greased area either, Grim pulls out a dagger and throws it at Bu.

Dagger (-2 for range): 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 - 2 = 21 Woot! Critical threat!
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Critical confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 Bah.
Oh well, at least it looks like she hit this time!

Licktoad GM

The thug goes down with Grim’s dagger in his neck. He tries to scream, but all that escapes is a horrible gurgling sound. Grasping feebly at the dagger handle, his legs flail out briefly as he bleeds out.

    Next up: Arianna
    Augrim
    Jawn

On Jawn's turn, he will continue to cover the potential exits.

Augrim attacks the leader.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10

Female Human (Varisian) Bard / 6

Arianna will move across the Grease to join Augrim on the other side.
Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Turning the corner she stops short (Square I15) and begins casting a Color Spary spell.
Casting defensively (DC 17): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8

Licktoad GM

Augrim's blade flies wide, hewing a chunk of wood from the doorframe.

Arianna attempts to cast a spell - a spluttering flicker of light appears, but vanishes, leaving behind a purplish vapor.

Up next: Thug

Licktoad GM

With Augrim blocking the way, and his comrades down, the lookout changes tactics. Trying his luck with Arianna and Grim.

Throwing his shoulder into Arianna, he knocks her to the floor and runs around the corner. (J13) | (Assuming he survives the AOO‘s)

rolls:
CMB vs. Arianna's CMD (13)1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Arianna is knocked prone

AOO’s for everyone!
Next up: Grim
Arianna
Augrim
Jawn

--- --- MAP UPDATED --- ---

Augrim swings at the fleeing lookout.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7

Female Half-Orc Rogue 1

Grim swings at the man as he passes.

AoO: Greataxe (remembering to add bless this time, which I've forgotten on just about every attack): 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 1 = 13
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Licktoad GM

Arianna gets an Attack of Opportunity, as well.

Female Human (Varisian) Bard / 6

Don't forget the Reflex save (DC 15) for entering the Greased area
AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
