Draga,

Here's a quick version, I'll put together more if you deem it necessary.

Thalantas: LN(E if allowed?) Half-Elf Sorcerer (Blue/Bronze Draconic Bloodline) - I haven't decided for sure which dragon type, but fortunately in this case its just a matter preference.

Will be multiclassed with Monk and eventually taking levels in Dragon Disciple. Final build will have more monk levels than sorcerer.

Favored Classes Sorcerer and Monk.

Using a 25 point build
Str 16 Dex 15 Con 13 Int 10 Wis 14 Cha 14

Feats: Skill Focus (Perception), Dodge
Traits: Magical Knack, Reactionary

Skills: Bluff +6, Perception +11, Knowledge (Arcane) +4 (Extra Skill Point from Favored Class)

1st Level Spells Known: Shocking Grasp, Mage Armor

Thalantas grew up in and out of number of orphanages around the more respectable cities in Varisa, but always seemed to find more trouble than most. After (miraculously) reaching adulthood, Thalantas traveled to a city where his penchant for finding trouble would go less noticed, since most folks in Riddleport are in some sort of trouble.

Thalantas finds odd jobs where he can, but often has trouble keeping them, or at least that was the case until he met Kyoko. Kyoko at one time in her life had been monk, but lacked the desire to maintain the aestetic life-style most monks follow. Even though she did not have the resolve to continue as a monk, she has taken it upon herself to try and teach Thalantas a bit more disipline than he had learned in his formative years. (Using this as a potential plot hook, and a rational for taking monk levels later.)

The previously mentioned Inquisitor of either Angradd (fairly nice guy) or Shax (really not nice guy). This character has now taken preference over the other two I submitted for your perusal earlier (Gunter Griegspiel or Braxton Keel), unless you were finding a good fit for one of the others.
I will come up with a backstory when you let me know which god is acceptable.

This is Navior again. I noticed a number of people are submitting characters with a slightly darker overtone to them, so I'm submitting this alternative character who might fit in a little better. She's a rogue, but will likely multiclass with a bit of ranger.

If the group ends up going more towards the good side (and I get accepted into it, of course), I'll stick with the previous character (Sigvhat). Or I can go with this one. Or another. I'm willing to be flexible.

Description, background, equipment and wealth all updated. I'm still very interested in this game, let me know if you need anything else from me.

I would like to try to apply for this game. This character (Azharten) will participate (if selected). He is already build as lvl 2, 15pt, 1000g

He is having stats from another game, but you can easily get idea of him, stats + info and I can change him quite fast: (or even make completely new PC (to fill the gap in party or to balance)) stats, background etc to correspond the requirements for the AP

Quite fast build up of char

Angradd sounds fine.

Given the AP, I wouldn't plan on Evil alignment or Evil deities.

Augrim - I don't have the dwarves doc - can you sum up the Planned Assault spell for me?

Given the AP, I wouldn't plan on Evil alignment or Evil deities.

I have no idea what it is either.

Very well, then, no demon worshiper, but I may take a look at some other not quite so squeaky clean but not evil gods. I liked Augrim being kicked out of his first order and picked up by one that didn't get so uppity about his methods. He's not evil himself; he dispenses justice against the wicked only, he just has absolutely no mercy about it. If I don't find one I like, though, I'll go with the Inquisitor of Angradd, or perhaps Gorum.

Augrim Whyrwharf wrote:

I found it here.

Thanks, Draga, but I've retooled the character to be a converted Inquisitor of Gorum, rather than Shax. He's not nearly as sadistic or cruel now, though he still shows no mercy to evil-doers or cowards.

Given what has been said about evil alignments, assume Thalantas (as described earlier) to be LN and Bronze Draconic Bloodline.

Liberty's Edge

For your consideration:

Torgar Hammerfist, Dwarf Monk 1, Lawful Neutral

Background:
Torgar was born into the Hammerfist clan of Janderhoff and, even from an early age, always devoted himself to improving himself. He absorbed his lessons, trying to improve his mind. He worked in the forge to improve his body. And he listened to the priests of Torag, seeking to improve his spirit. Though his family would have preferred that Torgar become a warrior like his brothers and not follow the ways of the monk, they could not deny his aptitude, skill and devotion.

Several months ago, Torgar decided to undertake a pilgrimage to the Gas Forges in Riddleport in order to learn how to work the rare and ultra hard metals like adamantine. He arrived in Riddleport and approached the overseer of the Forges, but was rebuffed. Having arrived with no tribute, the overseer was not inclined to grant Torgar’s request for apprenticeship. Instead, he gave the young monk a choice: come back with enough rare metal to forge a warhammer or spend the next ten years working the gas lines beneath the forge. Only then would the overseer allow him to learn the ways of the Gas Forges. Preferring not to work the gas lines, Torgar walked out into Riddleport with a quest but unsure of how to achieve it.

Thanks,
Sir Grail

Draga, do you object to a character that walks a little on the darker side than normal, or would you like to keep the party as good characters who are forced to do unpleasant things to survive?

Naz, sorry if I missed your post (lost it on the bottom of the last page.)

Darker is fine, just don't go evil. - Pallies beware, because Second Darkness can really test LG characters, especially in later sections.

Draga, I have a question.
Right now my character is using a whip but I've been thinking of switching to a bladed scarf. Would you allow her to be proficient with the scarf instead of the whip?
Seems more in keeping with job as a dancer than a whip.

You know, given as there are quite a few finesse-types--and almost no healing--I'd like to submit a cleric of Desna (or maybe Shelyn) instead of a ranger, if that's acceptable. Will post it in a bit.

Just checking in on this page of the thread. Character is ready to go.

After reading up on it, it seems that the bladed scarf & spiked chain don't have reach anymore 8(

To that end, they are only exotic in flavor, and burning feats on flavor is dumb. So yeah, I'd allow that.

Okay, I've read through the AP, and now I have the terribly difficult decision of putting a team together.

I'm going through all the submissions, and I hope to announce my choices soon.

Thanks to everyone for their interest - it's really hard to choose!

Hey, I'm going to go ahead and bow out; I have too much to do and don't think I can finish my character today! I hope you have a good game, and I think everyone has made excellent characters! Again, enjoy the AP!

Arianna's bio's up and her gear is chosen. She's as ready to go as ever.

Draga, this is markofbane again. If you were interested in a dwarf-heavy theme, here's a rework of Jawn Stagg as a dwarf. He ended up as a universalist wizard instead of a Diviner; it just seemed more natural that way. I would be quite happy either way.

Only two people mentioned interest in playing a Cleric - one dropped, and I haven't seen a build for the other.

Jim Cirillo - Can you create a quick build?

Otherwise, is there anyone that would consider rolling up a healer?

From what you saw in the adventure, is the Inquisitor that Nazard proposed not healing intensive enough to fill that role?

I was thinking about multi-classing later as a Rogue/Cleric of Abadar..if that helps

Gah, sorry! My afternoon/evening just freed up; I think I can finish my cleric of Shelyn, if you'd like me to. Sorry for the inconvenience; family member decided to visit on Friday instead of today.

Do you still want me to post what I've got? I'd love to try Second Darkness . . .

I could make a cleric of Korada (Healing/Protection), but that all depends on how the rest of the characters are being built. If the intent is to just push through the AP, my interest is not all there. The same if there's going to be six characters. I'm more interested in playing the character, and six people posting makes for a hefty amount to read, and I'd hate to scare off a new DM with a flood of posts.

markofbane - I don't know if he could pull double duty for that, but it could work if the group stocked up on CLW potions.

Bor - Let's see what pops up with Rhys, first.

Rhys Grey - Yeah, if you can roll it up quickly, I'd love to see it.

This is Rhys Grey's cleric; without equipment bought yet, and still some kinks/background to finish, but this is what I've got . . .

I'm planning for 5 people, to keep it challenging. Potions, scrolls, and wands of CLW can make up for a missing healer, but I'd like to find someone who's interested in that role, first, if I can.

Oops, forgot spells. NOW she's ready

I could come up with a cleric if needed and you would prefer that to the sorcerer/monk/dragon disciple. Haven't decided between Calistria or Cayden yet, but leaning toward Calistria

Okay, here's Rhys Grey's cleric; domains are luck and good; equipment is bought; a litle bio and . . . done.

Talomyr here. Here's Thalantas, or at least a start on him, not a lot more than what I posted earlier, I'll finish out equipment stuff later tonight.

Well, the time has come, and let me tell you this was not an easy list to narrow down. Thanks to everyone for their interest and creative submissions! You really made it hard to choose.

I've chosen the following characters to fill out the team.

    Augrim Whyrwharf, Dwarven Inquisitor
Grimara "Grim" Pondle, Half Orc Rogue
    Jawn Stagg Human Wizard
    Arianna Rothschild, Human Bard
    Zaiel Shandraeli, Half-Elven Cleric

I've started the discussion thread here.

Again, thank you all for your submissions.

Congrats guys!

Now that the choosing is over, I want to offer a piece of advice to the new DM. I would suggest you be careful in having people create characters and post as them in the offering forum.

Beyond the work that got put into those characters that didn't get selected, if there are 10 posts on that character, it becomes permanent, which may lead to a character glut for those that are trying to keep their profile streamlined.

Sounds like a good thing to keep in mind - If you know of someone that has a better way of doing it, can you post a link? I'm always open to finding better ways to do things.

The best I've seen so far was just a semi-detailed character concept. If you have to narrow it down from there, you could probably ask for backgrounds related to what the game is going to be about, and make decisions.

Another DM asked for concepts and then checked the poster's posting history to see if the players met the criteria, but that seems a bit time-intensive.

Congrats to those who made the cut!

Thanks, Draga, for the opportunity. :)

While you can't delete an alias once you've posted ten times, you can gut the thing right down to its name and avatar picture. In effect, you can delete it, so long as you replace it with something else.

Good luck and happy gaming.

Basically what I did. It's better to get everyone to post a concept so you don't have to reject a fully created character someone has time and love invested in...

True, but that just reminds me that I've got a name that I've got to repurpose, which may throw off the character creation-- or not, I've repurposed a couple, but the name carries a personality with it after you've created it.

Ah, I thought for some reason you could change the name too. Never mind then.

You can change the name as it stands on the sheet, but the name that links to it is permanent... at least that I've found, but I haven't tried to mess with it.
