The Crypt where Ekat Kassen was laid to rest has become an important part of the town's history. This year a group of hand selected individuals have been chosen to venture to the crypt and retrieve the Everflame in time for the autumn celebration.
Did you guys want to proceed to the next round? Only Lorant has posted.

Guys, I am so sorry, I had no idea the gameplay thread was updating.

Yeah, it seems the dots and new message notifications aren't as reliable as they used to be.

I know that there has been a lot of issues regarding notifications displaying new posts in threads lately. I just want to say that I check this game for new posts a minimum of 3 times per day.
I am also here to encourage everybody to start posting a minimum of once a day in order to pick up the pace. I am aware that this might not be possible all the time but the effort on everybody's behalf will go a long way. My schedule has been freed of all my summer time commitments and I can start focusing a lot more time and energy into posting daily updates. Updates can only happen if enough people post to make the round feasible to close and the next one to begin. Check in even if the thread displays 0 new posts in case this glitch is affecting you. Try to make the effort to post even if you have nothing relevant to say. Feel free to make double posts. Do what you can to help keep things moving.

So sorry I haven't posted in this thread....there are no notifications on my page that there are posts here.
I can't do a live session. I work a regular day job and 80% of my free time is devoted to my secondary job.....I run a small toy company out of my garage. I make wooden toys by hand. No website yet, too dang busy trying to fill orders before Christmas.
I will really try to stay on top of game posts and discussion threads.
That will seal it then. A live session will not happen unless everybody is on board.
In the mean time, my paternity leave should begin in the very near future, leaving an ever increasing amount of time to do updates here. I am still strongly encouraging everybody to make a minimum of 1 post per day regardless of the in-game situation.
If anybody still wants to try a live session though, PM me and maybe we can work something out with a new campaign.

Who has the dagger? We should identify it and then perhaps it should go to Pip. I think most everyone else is using a ranged weapon, and the more we can get out of the magic weapon the better.

Hey Doug, Congrats on the new member of your family! My little boy is 6.5 months now. I'm not going to lie, it is the most difficult and rewarding experience of my life. Good luck!

Congratulations on the new child! My son is six already, they grow up so fast!
My question is Where are we? You described a room with a fountain and etc, but I'm still in the hallway by the safe room...
You are where you are positioned on the map.
I went ahead and gave the description for the room as soon as Lorant opened the door so I didn't have to describe it to everybody individually. You can assume that the description is relevant to you as soon as you enter the room.

Fair enough. I stated that Kaylee would follow directly behind Lorant. I didn't see him post coordinates so I honestly don't know precisely where she would be.

Lorant's not moving in right now since he can't see any magic. Plus Pip is checking for traps. So you would be where your icon is unless you decide to move separately from Lorant.

I feel like an idiot, I didn't realize the maps were in a new folder. Oops.

Pile maybe? I'm not that familiar with skydrive. I just know that I was looking at the B round stuff when I was confused on where we were. Then I somehow backed out of that and saw the three new maps separately.
I don't always load the maps immediately after I do the update. Perhaps you logged in while I was still working through the process. I double checked your folder and everything appears to be in order.

I'm good. Some of the older maps have been moved into one of the other folders, but the latest ones are still in my main "Lorant" folder.

Maps are fine here as well.

Yeah, maps are good for me too. Maybe people bookmarked the folder? I usually just open up skydrive and go to the shared files and that works fine for me.
Should I go ahead and close round C-3 or wait until this issue is sorted out?

I tried looking up the spell description for Detect Magic but it does not say whether you can cast upon someone else for them to use or not. What's your ruling on this?
Wow, there is really no ruling on this is there?
I would think that you can only cast it on yourself because thats the way I've always played, but if somebody can prove me wrong I just might change my mind.
Init +4; Perception +7; hp: 28/28 AC 13(17)/12/11(15); F+3, R+3, W+5
Wow, that is weird. I've never thought of detect magic as anything but a self only cast. I can't think of anything that would make it so you could cast it on something else, except for a familiar maybe?
Initiative +1, Perception +6 (+8 w/Fenris) Current AC 15, Current HP 29/29 (29/29 non-lethal)
It may be a self cast only. That's how I've always ruled it as well so its no problem if we play it that way. I just noticed that there is no "target" entry for the spell itself. Maybe I just have an older book.
Init +4; Perception +7; hp: 28/28 AC 13(17)/12/11(15); F+3, R+3, W+5
I checked the 3.5 SRD as well. There's no target entry there either. I guess it's assumed that it only works on the caster.

Just wondering if you guys would be interested in trying a small format change?
I recently started another PBP for some friends and have been experimenting with the format I wanted to run the second module of this adventure with.
LINK!
This format seems to run a lot smoother and faster than what I'm doing with you guys. What I've done is combined the sight of the whole party and posted a single link to the post so that anyone can click the link to get the map.
PROS:
-Players do not need to log into SkyDrive anymore to access maps
-Saves time on the back end because I don't have to render 5 separate maps
-Overall faster game pace
CONS:
-Broken links are a frequent nuisance
-Easier to Metagame because you can see what the whole party sees
I know this might be annoying for some of you because this idea was proposed up when we first started this campaign, but I was in my PBP GM infancy back then when we started this game close to a year ago. I feel as though I've evolved quite a bit since, and now that my PBP resume is getting much larger I'm learning new things and continually trying to make a better experience for my longest running group.
This is just another one of those ideas I had to try and make things better for you guys.
Let me know what you think. If you're more comfortable sticking to the old format we'll keep using that.

I like the new format. While I really enjoyed the individual maps, I thought it was too much of a burden on you to render each one separately. And the common map is no different than if we were sitting around a table playing. We just have to keep honest to what our characters can and can't see. If the party is together, they're most likely relaying what they see anyways, so the extra work is wasted a bit.
I would say common map unless the party splits off. Then individual maps for that portion of the party would be warranted.

Yep, got to agree: especially as we can see the shape of the dungeon already so there has to be some metagame trust to begin with.
To be honest, I think you have trust online because putting up spoilers for DCs of checks saves so much time.
Lorant Pelus wrote: While I really enjoyed the individual maps, I thought it was too much of a burden on you to render each one separately. Again, I really don't mind doing individual maps. I'm just presenting more options.

I'm ok with a group map. We're all mature enough to play without meta gaming, and if that means that Doug can get the updates ready quicker, I'm all for it.
If we split up we can go to multiple maps, although I hope we don't have to separate. Kerret is squishy.

If we're using the same hit point rules as when we leveled up to 2, you can either choose to roll or pick average + con bonus, and reroll if you roll a 1 or 2.

Pip and Kerret re-roll until you get 3 or higher or just take your average.
