Thank you all for your interest in joining this adventure. I am DougFungus and I will be your DM. I have high hopes that things will go well enough for this first module and that we can continue on well after.
The first thing I will need everybody to do is PM me an email address I can use to set permissions on my SkyDrive. I will make each character a folder that can only be accessed by that email account that way nobody else can snoop through your stuff.
The next thing we will need to figure out as a group is how turns are coordinated. I would like everybody to tell me how they think turns should work because once we get to the Crypt I will be running everything round by round until they leave. I have an idea but I’d like to see what everybody else thinks and then a decision will be made.
Even though a background story was not a requirement feel free to work it in as we go through the adventure. I’m hoping to see an active dialog between players in between map updates. The way I have designed things will let characters function very independently of each other. Ex. If you want to sleight of hand every piece of treasure you come across, PM me and I’ll make something happen. If you get caught and the party kills you for it as a result, I won’t stop them either. Another example is things like subplots, I like them. If you want to work something in go for it as long as it doesn’t stray too far from the adventure. Don’t be afraid to use the SkyDrive storage I’ve provided to keep notes and other things you don’t want to be public. PM me things you don’t want public either. Other than that, continue to function openly and with the party. Have fun, Be Creative.
I'll get the Gameplay thread started. I know some of you don't even have Aliases made for your characters so don't feel the need to rush in. The town square is a place for characters to make introductions. Once we have everything up and running we will segue into the game as a group.

I made a few changes to Kerret (namely, Spell Specialization (Burning Hands) instead of Toughness. I hope that's ok. Gear is done. If you'd like to give him the once over, everything is in the profile. Thanks for the chance to play in your game.

DougFungus |

I've also decided to bring Kaylee (Doc Watson) on board because of the length of the dungeon. He will be joining us in a couple days.
Vastar and others, Please don't move ahead to quickly or assume what is happening. The town square is actually empty. If this was a custom adventure I would be able to work around it easier but I'm going by the book on this one.

I sent my email. As far as rounds go, I like GM rolled initiative and saves, speeds things up nicely. I'm also in favor of people declaring their actions for the round, but to my mind, it doesn't need to be in order. Let them be resolved in initiative order of course, but no need to wait if you know what you're going to do anyway.

This is precicly what I was thinking. If everybody is ok with this I will us this method.
Kerret and Lorant, thankyou for the quick reply's. I though I had them but couldn't find them so I'll take the blame for this one.
EDIT: I screwed up, I need Vastar's email. Vastar please PM it to me. If you already have I'm sorry. My PM inbox is made of nightmares at the moment.

Hey Doug, quick question about the Skydrive. If we put something in it, does it notify people automatically, or should we post to notify people? I was going to make a quick common knowledge about Kerret blurb and just wanted to know. Thanks.

DougFungus |

To my knowledge it will not notify anyone. You'd best post it here so that everyone knows to check it out.
Way to take the initiative to use the Skydrive Kerret.
In the Party folder I also placed a map to reach the tomb. You haven't received it yet in game but it doesn't play a big role anyway. Look at it when you have time.

DougFungus |

The crypt is located 40 miles south of Kassen. The Everflame needs to be returned to Kassen by the 11th of Neth, the same day Ekat Kassen succumbed to his wounds and died, in order to be in time for the festival. Today is the 4th in case you missed it. This means that you have 7 days to get there, acquire the flame and get back.
Remember: A character with a 30ft. movement speed can walk roughly 24 miles a day arriving in 2 days. However a character with a 20ft. movement can only walk 16 miles in a day. Arriving in 2 days with a 20ft. movement speed is possible but will require a check for a forced march that day. These are options the party may want to weigh out in order to leave enough time to explore the Crypt.

Would it be out of the question to take the pony and the cart with us for part of the journey? I'm thinking until we reach that chasm. That way we could keep the 30' movement with Pip riding and we could keep any excess gear in the cart.

DougFungus |

I'll give you the pony and cart to carry supplies. Just make sure you keep track of where you put everything. I'm going to rule that the Pony has a 30' movement with the cart attached unless somebody can reference something to prove me otherwise.
Lorant and Pip, it looks like you posted at the same time and took the same items. You may need to work this out.
As soon as you are ready to leave town make a note of it and we will start on our way to the Crypt.

Lorant Pelus |

Placed a Word doc on the Skydrive detailing some basic knowledge of Lorant. It's mostly personality, but also some connections around town. I've taken liberties to tie him to other characters, including Kayle's backstory. Let me know if you want this changed.
I've also placed Lorant's extra gear in the 'Stuff in Cart' file.

DougFungus |

Everyone, please see the map labeled "Forested Road" in the party folder and choose a location to place your token.
Does anybody have problems with the file size for any of these photos? I think Skydrive scales it down. I can start shrinking the File size if I need to but it is an extra step and would prefer not to have to.
Also, Tip: Right click -> View Original on photos will give the full resolution.

DougFungus |

I'm glad you guys are liking the Skydrive. I wasn't sure it was going to be a great method to begin with but I needed its versatility. I think I made the correct choice.
Vastar, I will look into that problem. I don't experience it in the same way because its my account and I can just pin it to my start menu. Has anybody else had this problem? Has anybody found a fix?

Kerret Malconnen |

For the sake of regularity:
Drop Longspear and lantern as free action (into the cart if that's ok, if not, into Y 16.) Draw Crossbow as a move action. 5' step to Z 15. Fire at Orc at M 15 Ranged Crossbow:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 vs. flat-footed AC Damage:
1d8 ⇒ 2

Handle Animal is a trained only skill.

How does everyone like the way I laid out the results for Round 1? I'm not too sure how everyone else does theirs in other games. Is there anything you'd like me to change or improve upon?
Also, have any of you used Herolab, PC Gen or Combat Manager to create your characters? If you did could you upload your .cmpt, .cmet, .por or .rpgrt files to your character folder? I'm using Combat Manager off to the side to help me keep track of things and it would help speed things up since I wouldn't need to open your Alias every time I need a stat. If you haven't used any of these programs to make your character just ignore this. I can retype everything.
