Posting this to all my games:
I am heading out today to a 3 days music festival. Posting will be extremely limited until monday afternoon
Neat! I spent all my vacation time at music festivals/camps this summer. A Cajun/country camp, spent a weekend at an old time camp in the Catskills and some random festivals here and there. Do you play or are you just going to listen and dance?

Yeeeeaaaah. I'm a giver! To a degree. I make up for it with less "hack and slash" gameplay. Your abilities will be tested.
Okay. So just to clarify/sum up:
87 skill points to distribute, not including racial ability bonuses. Your raw investment in any individual skill before racial ability bonuses are added cannot be more than 18 or less than 3.
Two traits or one feat at first level.
Take a "gestalted favored class bonus".
EDIT: In the case of mixed heritage, you are welcome to pick and choose different racial abilities from each of the nationalities, just as long as the Racial Points equal 7.
I will be reviewing sheets probably by the end of the day tomorrow. Today, I plan to finish up racial descriptions aaaaannd..... I think that's it. Maybe tonight I'll finish Cecil's intro in one fell post. There has been a bear spotted on the property so I may not be wandering anywhere at night to use the internet so we'll see how slow work is today.
Side note, I love backstories and good character development. Since this world is homebrewed, some information will be assumed when constructing said backstories. If it's cool, I will decide where you all begin with your intros. Which means I will probably "edit" your characters' most recent past up to that point. If I denature your idea of your character in the process, please smack me across the jaw.
Carroc, I will provide you with more information on Wildmen culture should you desire it.
Just a quick recap for me, is everyone's characters virtually unhappy with living under the dominion of giants? No one is a nationalist? John (Cecil), I know your deal.
Start date could potentially be Tuesday sometime :)

Also....
+0 Spell Points
+0 Wound/Vitality
+3 Combat Focus
+3 Heroic Distinctions
AC for DR removed. Combat Focus retained (yes!). Heroic Distinctions retained (sweet).
Are we pretty unexcited about Wound/Vitality? I like it because it's more realistic and I simplify it to have less rolls. For instance, you do not have to roll Constitution checks whenever you take an action when considered "Wounded". I simply apply the "Staggered" condition when at half WP's and a "Bleed Out and Staggered" condition when at a quarter of your total WP's. The "BO" in the character sheet template I provided stands for "Bleed Out", which would be when your WP equals a quarter of its total.
Are we also unexcited about Spell Points? It would allow you all (who are virtually all spellcasters save for Carroc) to be less limited in spell resourcefulness. Less worry is needed when prepping spells. I completely understand if we are not on board.

+1 Spell Points
+1 Combat Focus
+1 Heroic Distinctions
I'm kinda indifferent to Wound/Vitality points. Seems neat but we'll get a better idea when we see it in action. Figure, if we hate it then we can just switch back to hit points.
Character sheet is saved on a flash drive at work. I'll grab that tonight, edit it a bit more, and have it online by Monday/Tuesday. I'll also have my fluffy stuff posted there, too.

GM Pteridologist |

-2 Spell Points
-3 Wound/Vitality
I'll save the hassle and just omit these variant rules. I still interpret HP loss as stamina drain and flesh wounds. So it's all the same :) I see the argument with spell points. As much as I'd like to use them, I think it would be best to omit them because it does make spellcasters even more powerful than they already are. I'll just introduce them in my post-apocalyptic campaign, John ;)
EDIT: Which you still haven't posted in, ya dork.
I will be back home in the Finger Lakes from Monday night to Thursday. Tuesday night and Wednesday will be spent in Niagara Falls, so first posts may have to be... postponed. I will do what I can tonight and Tuesday morning to get the ball rolling.
How are we coming along with our character sheets and backstories?
Reiterating the question: "Just a quick recap for me, is everyone's characters virtually unhappy with living under the dominion of giants? Is anyone a sympathizer?"

GM Pteridologist |

Coolio. I'm pretty sure the orc slave is not a sympathizer and Sky, who has favored enemy Eridani, probably does not like them. Sweet. A party entirely of rebels.
Well, once backstories are up and ready, I'll be ready. I have some ideas for your intros but I would rather incorporate something from your backstories so I'll wait for those. I didn't end up going to Niagara Falls (left my passport back in the wilderness) so I have more time available to finish up material.
Azeban and Sky - you guys still with us?

GM Pteridologist |

Haha. Right on. Yeah, I was just waiting on responses. Drake, your character sheet has a different build. Do you have another alias with your Warder/Psion stats?
Just drove back to the ADK's this morning. Running on no sleep so I will be taking a quick nap after work, and then I'll be making posts :)
We can develop characters and backstory as we progress.

GM Pteridologist |

Carroc, you're up my friend!
Should be slow at work, so right now I am working on Drake and Sky's intros, which are combined. I'm assuming a little bit with your backstories as I write it out. Is that cool? I assumed you both served in the Ikarian military in different branches and that you two are childhood friends.

GM Pteridologist |

I have and I was thinking something similar! Haha. I'll try to get everyone's posts up today or tonight. Tomorrow I need to really take time and seriously update and send out resumes. My job ends soon so that is a priority. Expect delays :)
Also, 15th-19th I will be in Myrtle Beach for a family vacation. I will try my hardest to post during that time, but I may be getting tore up on the beach and mackin' it on hot babes.
Well, I'll be getting tore up at least... :(

GM Pteridologist |

Thanks, Sydney!
So once we start getting into actual dice-rolling, I'll be gradually reviewing character sheets. I've noticed some miscalculations on some, but intros are usually more story oriented so we have time.
If you all feel so inclined, tell me a little bit about yourselves. I like to get to know my players. That way I can get into your heads and toy with your personal emotions in gameplay.... or something like that.

Really enjoying the game so far.
Not a whole lot to say here. I'm a late-20's web developer in Boston. PBP is the only way that I play Pen and Paper games, because I really dig the RP / storytelling opportunities that it presents. I'm huge into other board games, though, as well.
