Actually I believe Aurora is currently grappled from the previous round. What weapon is she using? If it's one-handed you can use it to attack with a -2 penalty. Otherwise you might want to try and escape grapple.

In any case the vines will continue trying to squeeze Hrungir and Aurora to death.

Hypnotic Stare (Su):
A mesmerist can focus his stare on one creature within 30 feet as a swift action. That creature takes a –2 penalty on Will saving throws. This penalty changes to –3 at 8th level. A mesmerist can maintain his stare against only one opponent at a time; it remains in effect until the mesmerist stares at a new target, the opponent dies, the opponent moves farther than 30 feet away, or the mesmerist falls unconscious or dies. The mesmerist can remove the memory of his stare from the target’s mind; the creature doesn’t remember that it was affected (nor does it realize that it is currently being affected) unless the mesmerist allows it. The hypnotic stare is a psychic effect, and relies more on the mesmerist’s focus than the target’s perception of his stare. It can’t be avoided in the same ways a gaze attack can. The mesmerist can use this ability even while blinded, but must succeed at a DC 20 concentration check to do so. Staring at a creature requires the mesmerist’s focus, so if he uses a gaze attack or similar ability, he must target the subject of his hypnotic stare or voluntarily end the stare. The penalties from multiple mesmerists’ stares don’t stack, nor do they stack with penalties from witches’ evil eye hexes. This is a mind-affecting effect.

With the vines trying to squeeze th life out of him, Hrungnir stepped back and called out to Adabar to bless his hammer. It began shining with a golden light.

I am not sure what round it is, so I am posting anyways.

Turning to see that Krafnik is firing at the creature that he called out. Zilybar calls forth a spell in hopes that it will do some good.

Suddenly out of nowhere erupting out of the ground to surround the creature in an aura of yellow, orange, red, white, and blue flames. Zilybar smiles in hopes that this creature will be of a weak enough mind to succumb to his spell.

The vines have 35 hp I don't think either one was killed.

The grimwalker badly injured flees into the central tower leaping over to it and climbing into a second story window.

I wonder if that creature has been using the vines as a natural ally against foes for some time? Shall we inspect the tower and follow our foe? Krafnik says to his companions stopping his bardic performance, it echoes for a few more moments as if lingering in the air.

the creature is evil to be sure so I would not be in favor of simply leaving it here to ambush other travellers Krafnik completes his thought looking from one to the next

With Zilybar out (?) his character can still help out from down here. If he comes back he can rejoin us, without the issues of us using up all of his resources or having his character silently do nothing. Sound good?

Lady Ionnia shakes out of the vines and whirls her club as she looks at the others. Looking at them she speaks."Flushing it out seems a sound coarse. Leaving Zilybar out here by his lonesome is not advised unless you can remain hidden. If you can do that then Master Hrungnir seems to have a good tactic. Alex or Krafnik do you either of you know more about this creature and if so is there anything we should expect from it"She says looking at them ready to take in there advice and devise the best plan.

the grimstalker is an evil fey reknkwned for using natural vines like this to attack uneary souls and uses poison and prefers range yet has deadly claws. I used cold iron arrows on it. Krafnik says as they walk toward the tower.


You go into the lower level of the tower and see a bare room with a spiral staircase going up to the next floor. You move towards the stairs when someone from above drops a vase down the stairs, the lid is knocked off as it hits the ground and purple smoke comes spewing out of the vase.

Cursing and grumbling, Hrungnir went over to Aurora and grabbed her by the arm. "Time to go, lass. Ionnia, grab Alexand. We'll pull them out of the mist."

He knew that Aurora was inhumanly strong. He hoped that she wouldn't resist, or this was going to get messy. Most likely his face if she punched him...


It does. As a note if you make one save you do not need to make another even if you stay in the fog you are immune to it's effect for 24 hours.

So Aurora can re-roll. Alexand is still affected as well.

So you guys will need to resolve the situation each round those that failed Alexand and maybe aurora will need to roll for confusion.

Ignoring the attacks, and trusting in his armor, Hrungnir attempted to grapple the woman:

You managed to get away from the gas and hold out until the effects were off. But the vase seems to be spewing more and more of the stuff. Seems like it has an endless supply of it or at least a very large amount.

well this thing has certainly got the stairwell covered. Any ideas on how to get to it without falling into the many traps and prepared problems it has in wait for us?


If someone manages to put the lid back on the vase it would stop the smoke and it would dissipate after a minute or so

Krafnik will vanish and dash in and attempt to pull the lid off the vase stealthfully in the smoke filled room

stealth: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (1) + 30 = 31


You close the vase and the the smoke stops. After a few moments the smoke is dissipated.
