Krafnik will take his time (take 20) and search the area using detect magic for anything of value on their enemies and in the tower itself before they leave.

every soul deserves to be laid to rest regardless of their actions. I would wish to not be left to rot or given to those who would desecrate my remains. Let us of course ask our allies what might be done, but let us urge that they be laid to rest by their customs. Krafnik says with kindness.

"Which is exactly what I meant. We should see exactly how we should lay to rest these fey." She taps her chin then points to Aurora.

"Say Aurora do you know how your people are buried?"


You take care of the area and the fey help you put the bodies to rest. The lady of the forest tells you that they do not intent to stay in the tower and you can send your own people if you wish. She will however communicate with the trees and animals and inform you if anything hostile approaches.

She tells you as well that there is an old dwarven fort far to the south currently inhabited by trolls. They are far enough that they aren't likely to threaten your settlement unless you expend south quite a bit.

With that done you return home.

”Hmph. A fort of my people, defiled by trolls. I think that another fortification would be useful for civilizing these lands. If we are to take it back, we’ll need to prepare for it.”

How much time do we have and how much gold at our disposal to prepare?

"Seems another place to look into. No need to have trolls turning around to attack our people, and their lively hood. As for reclaiming a Dwarven fort that would greatly enhance our ability to defend our people. Maybe we could when we get this, see if any dwarves would love to join us and reclaim it. A Dwarven community, crafts, songs, ale, and hard work. Hrungnir what do you think doesn't that sound wonderful! I mean your people are a great race with many accomplishments to show for it. I believe they would be valuable to our fledgling state and the region!" She says as she hums parts of an old dwarven travel song, walking along the others.

"I forget that Aurora! I am sorry. Now we have Fey friends you can converse with if you wish to know more about that part of yourself!"She says with a smile.

”Aye...” Hrungnir said wistfully. ”It’ll depend on what we find, I suppose. If there is good mining to be done, then mayhaps we can attract some children of the forge. But if the original owners abandoned the Fort because they tapped out the veins, then likely not.” He ran his fingers through his beard as he talked, his mind swirling with the potential opportunities.


You head back home and for the next couple weeks things re fairly quiet.

You oversee the construction of new roads, and structures for the kingdom and decide on a few matters of state while preparing for an assault on the dwarven keep that is inhabited by a clan of trolls. A place people have come to call trollhold.

So far the trolls have not bothered anyone from the kingdom but you feel it is only a matter of time.

Lady Ionnio gets her new weapon completed but before you depart you get news of a disturbance at the tavern.

You arrive and find a crowd gathered. Two guardsmen lie dead in the street.

You ask what happened. As people tell it a group of adventurers arrived at the tavern and began ordering drink and food in excess bragging about how they had found a ruin full of riches and looted it.

Soon after they arrived a knight in full plate armour arrived and walked into the tavern and brutally killed all the adventurers. He took the sword from one of them and started to leave. The guards tried to stop him but he killed them and them marched right out of town.

As Aurora sees the sight of the dead in the street and tavern she adds
"Oh dear, what happened Here."

"Hrungnir, I agree with you. We must bring the perpetrator in.Krafnik do you think you can track him down?"

"Alex do you have any spells that may assist in finding and subduing this man. And Aurora..do you have anything that can help?"

Yes he did. Krafnik recognises the symbol describe on his armour as one from an ancient noble house that once tried to claim this area over a century ago. The expedition failed and the house fell into ruin shortly after.

There is also a matter of what to do with the adventurers. Nobody in town knowns them and their gear is rather valuable with several magical items worth a combines 12 000 gold.

let us bury these souls and see if we might locate any family for these things to be passed down to. If not let us donate them to the use of our new kingdom. Krafnik says

Lady Ionnia sees too it that the bodies are buried and that the ground they are buried is properly warded by whatever priests are in this area. She then takes the weapons back to the castle and makes sure the items gathered are secured. After that she checks in with her fellow rulers.

"I have made sure the dead are buried and that their items are secured. It is now up to us to seek this dastardly warrior out and bring him to justice!"

You research the noble family from the sigil that the knight wore on his armor and learn that they had a family crypt to the east of here it was abandoned when the previously attempt at colonizing the area failed.

"Maybe this house needs to be properly recognized. It might assuage further conflicts. The scoundrel who did this, however, must pay for his crimes. After that, we should discuss the privilege do to these former pioneers did for this land. Might reinstate the house to a worthy successor" She says walking with her new glaive in hand.

we may be dealing with something that is undead as well Krafnik says as he considers the history of the family and the surroundings.

Alex turns to Krafnik, "I had come to the same conclusions as well. We should head east."


You investigate and thanks to your research which had given you an approximate location you manage to find old tomb.

The place is a large mound that from afar looks like an ordinary hill but looking around you find a door. The symbol of the long lost noble family carved above the door.

Alex looks at Aurora and Ionnia quizzically with an eyebrow raised, "It is a tomb...why would someone answer..?"

The door opens revealing a long dark hallway lines with statues of knights on each side.

Krafnik enters the tomb in taking a moment to use detect evil and scan the area


The area seems to have a weak evil aura that lingers everywhere.

Up ahead there is a circular room which is the center of a 4 way intersection with a long hall going in each direction. 4 faces are carved in between the halls each looking towards the center.

Alex concentrates for a moment and casts Detect Thoughts (using 2ppp to allow it to affect undead).

Krafnik draws his bow and casts dancing lights sending them down the hall to illuminate the area


As you enter the intersection the middle of the intersection you hear a rumble as the passage behind you slams shut, then the stone faces take a deep breath and blow a must foul wind sapping your strength.

As the spell wave of exhaustion

You hear a clanking as several skeletons in armour are marching in your direction from the two side passages (but not from the one directly in front of you)

Enemy init is 0 so your up closest skeleton is 40 feet away.
