Alright, one trap down, who knows how many more to go? Krafnik smiles and gives Zilibar a congraulatory smile before once more following the group along eyes scanning and bow at the ready with arrow.


A graceful tower rises out of the keep’s central courtyard, now overgrown with bushes, undergrowth, and several sizable trees. Like the outer walls, the tower is draped with vines and creepers, and several small plants have taken up residence on ledges and in cracks along its sides.

At each "corner" of the wall there is a smaller tower with a closed wooden door.

The central tower is 60 feet hight and the smaller ones are 20 feet high.

"Well then. Seems like this here fortress is in fairly good shape, all things considered. A good foundation for maintaining control of the countryside. Let's explore each of the towers first, before moving into the main keep."

Krafnik gives silent prayer for protection of he and his allies as they enter the tower and then readies for the business at hand, casting light on a coin and tossing it out ahead and then picking it up to repeat the process.

Ionnia nods and readies her self following her small companion having faith in him that he is the best at what he does.


You open the closest tower G3 and when you open the door you see hundreds if not thousands of rats they hiss angrily and make for the door in 2 swarms. init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

If you beat them in init you can try to close the door and hold it shut.

You notice that the room with the rats has several corpses inside.

As you head to the next tower you notice the ground and walls here are covered in thick vines. Anyone with knowledge nature?

be careful, there are assassin vines in that vegetation. We may wish to burn the vines from distance if it won't hurt the tower.

Is it possible to move around and let them be until we are ready to deal with them....If not I have a spell that may or may not work on plants. I would conjure an image of something harmful to the plants that surrounds it. If my spell is strong enough to take hold of them then they will feel the pain of the illusion as if it were real. It is a long shot at best but I have nothing that will do physical harm to them.

Assassins vines are blind so visual illusions (such a silent image) wont work on them. Just a note. They wont be able to sense you unless you move within 30 feet of them but if you do they will certainly attack

It really sucks being an illusionist in KM lol
I am laughing at all the spells I have that can do nothing against any of the creatures we have encountered...(So far) I am having fun but my choice was a poor one..lol This is all me and not in any way a reflection of the DM. I look forward to the time when I can cast a spell at a enemy and have it work.

this is the second time this tower is bringing a thing that must be burned. I do think I need some spells and items that will do this task. Krafnik says frowning.

Thats the issue with specialized builds. They either steamroll or do nothing. Zilybar seems like the kind of character that can rock infiltration missions or diplomatic sorties, but who would stumble vs animals and plants. I’d recommend preparing contingencies for when illusions don’t work.

Hrungnir nodded, and began praying. First, he prayed for Adabar to harden his skin barkskin and to shield him from harm shield. He then marched confidently up to the vines.

The vines cast Entangle dc 15 reflex to negate in the courtyard when they Sense Hrungir. (filling basically the entire courtyard with the effect, they are immune to it themselves)

Roll init and post your actions for round 1. They are currently hanging on the walls 10 feet of the ground but will come down on their turn.

The vines shot out, entangling Hrungnir. The dwarf growled as he struggled against them...only barely ripping his way free from their grasp.

Krafnik notices that something humanoid with grey skin is watching the fight from above and it's making it's way out of the tower and along the wall moving to get behind the group.

The grimstalker or banaan (as they prefer to call themselves) is a fey creatures that does not share the beauty and goodness of its kin. Whereas other fey creatures have come to represent the beautiful of mischievous side of nature, the grimstalker most certainly reflect nature at its worst. They are dark creatures, their hearts tainted with the foulest of evil. Unfortunate souls that wander into the a forest guarded by grimstalkers are never seen again–except for their skulls, which the grimstalkers hang from the trees as a warning to those that would dare trespass into their domain.

Long thought to be a form of intelligent plant because of their many plant-like features, grimstalkers sulk among the trees of the darkest forests. Even among sylvan communities of elves the grimstalkers are legendary as natural born assassins. Grimstalkers sometimes work together with other evil fey such as redcaps; though such alliances are short and rare, especially with the malevolent and untrustworthy redcap.

It is rumored that powerful evil druids often summon grimstalkers for nefarious purposes.

Grimstalkers strike from ambush if possible, hiding among the trees and dropping on interlopers into their forest. A troupe of grimstalkers that set up an ambush point make ample use of the terrain, using nets woven from living vines, snares, and pit traps. Grimstalkers are also known to employ trained plant creatures such as assassin vines and scythe trees. In melee they are capable of fighting with their claws or with weapons–their favorite weapons being a sort of spiked quarterstaff and longbows knocked with poisoned arrows.
