Val turns and walks off to a pair of side rooms of the workshop. "Not a good idea to be out after hours nowadays--if you need a place to crash for the night, you can sleep here."
She points out two rooms, one smaller than the other. They each have one large bed in them, and a small desk against a wall, but not much else. "Not very comfy, but they'll keep ya warm."

Dejah Simin |

Dejah heard Val's offer to stay the night and she considered it for a few moments before speaking, "Your consideration is appreciated, Val. The males can take the larger of the two rooms for they require more space. I am content with this room", pointing to the smaller room. It appeared that she would share the space/bed with Tabitha, as to sleep in the same room as the recently acquainted males would be seen as unseemly.
She took the wrapped package from under arm and placed it on the table and turned to the small group,
"I have a loaf of crusty bread, cheese and a little fruit, if any of you are hungry and would sup with me?"

Caedmon Deckard |

Cade puts his back against the wall as the metalhead scans the window. He reaches back slowly and rests his hand on the hilt of his Earth Breaker. As the creature leaves, he sighs in relief.
"Not a good idea to be out after hours nowadays--if you need a place to crash for the night, you can sleep here."
She points out two rooms, one smaller than the other. They each have one large bed in them, and a small desk against a wall, but not much else. "Not very comfy, but they'll keep ya warm."
"They are perfect Val. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality." He turns to Viorec. "You can have the bed. I am used to sleeping on the ground. You don't think you could pray up some ale for us do you. I sure could use a drink and you are a servant of the Lucky Drunk after all!" He gives a charismatic smile from under his hood.

Dejah Simin |

She listened as Cade asked for ale from Viorec and disregarded her offer of food.
Undoing the strings of the package, she took out the items and drew a knife from her pack and set to the task of cutting the bread and cheese in smaller portions for herself.

Caedmon Deckard |

Sorry Dejah. Your post wasn't there when I started posting mine, nor did I see it after I hit send.
"I have a loaf of crusty bread, cheese and a little fruit, if any of you are hungry and would sup with me?"
"Are you sure there is enough?" Cade asks, afraid the lady will not get a sufficient amount to fill her appetite. As she cuts it, "I would definitely like some. Thank you."

Dejah Simin |

Dejah looked up from her task and levelled mismatched eyes on the hooded Cade.
"I can make the food stretch -- there is enough, at least, to line our bellies and curb the hunger pangs. You are welcome to partake. The others, as well."
After another moment of staring at the taller male, Dejah looked back down and continued cutting the bread and cheese and dividing the grapes between them.

Caedmon Deckard |

As Dejah stares at Caedmon, he gets a better look at her mismatched eyes. He gets caught up in them for a second. When she returns to cutting, he tries to gather his thoughts. "That sounds great Dejah...thank you." He moves over closer to her. "We were interrupted earlier." He motions to Viorec. "So you are a local? You don't seem to fit in." He pauses, a bit embarrassed. "I mean that in a good way."

Dejah Simin |

Dejah stilled the motions of the knife through the crusty bread upon Cade's question. She gazed up at the man, closer to her now, and tilted her head to get a better look and silently contemplate her thoughts.
"I'm uncertain of were I was born, most probably the Lake of Mists and Veils if stories are to be believed, and brought here as babe. My father raised me in Torch, so I am a local. And you are right, I don't always fit in, but I am familiar enough to the townsfolk," her gaze now falling on her long, hard nails; certain Cade had noticed her physical differences based on his question.
"Where do you hale from?" The question was plainly directed at Cade, in her usual melodic voice.

Caedmon Deckard |

He leans against the wall, looking down at her. He looks straight into her eyes. For the first time, she gets a good look at him. He lowers his voice, "I was originally from here...but that was a long time ago." His eyes get a distant look and Dejah notices his sadness. "My parents and I were on a caravan to Starfell...we were attacked. I was just a small boy. I don't remember much." He pauses again. "It seems time steals happy memories...you know. I have trouble remembering my mother's face."
He takes a bit of bread from Dejah. "I lived in the wild after that. A group of barbarians found me. For the past five or six years, I have been on my own." He takes a bite of the bread. After swallowing, "That is probably more than you wanted to know. I am sorry."

Dejah Simin |

"I do not limit knowledge, so there is nothing to apologise for. You may tell me as much or as little as you like, but I much prefer the former."
Dejah nibbled on a small chunk of cheese. She handed a piece to Cade to go with his bread, as well as some grapes. She made apologies for carrying no ale to accompany their light meal. Then continued,
"I am sorry that you lost your parents in a raid. My father passed away not that long ago, and, now I am alone." Whatever sadness she felt in terms of her own loss was not readily apparent in her words -- as though she had accepted her Fate and was making the most of it. She, however, felt the young Cade's loss, for he was orphaned too young. Dejah was grateful that her father had taken her in instead of rejecting the strange swaddled babe on his doorstep.
She finished cutting the food and placed small piles for each of them, should they want to take some food.

Caedmon Deckard |

"My father passed away not that long ago, and, now I am alone."
Cade takes the cheese. "How old are you? Are you OK to be on your own in this gods forsaken city?" He gets defensive for the girl and then realizes his rudeness. "I...I'm sorry for your loss."

Dejah Simin |

A smile crosses her lips - not bright nor dim, just strangely amused by the part regarding her age and being on her own.
"I am nineteen winters old. And having spent all my growing years in Torch, I am familiar with moving around on my own, especially toward the later months of my father's illness, where he relied upon me for everything. Thank you, for your concern and your sympathies. I do miss my father -- he was a great man, and an academic of science and history."

Caedmon Deckard |

Cade pauses to watch the smile. Dejah's melodic tone and full lips were more beautiful than anything he had seen in a long time. She was nothing like the Barbarian women he had spent the last ten winters with. He gets a warm smile on his face and says proudly. "I bet he knew my father. He was a scientist as well."

-After Gearsman Event-
Tabitha stands up and dusts herself off, before going with the rest of the group to see the different rooms.
-Dejah's Offerings
Tabitha nods, grateful for the offer. "Oh, thank you, I'll have a piece of bread and some cheese. Sorry about not offering much in turn. Was not expecting what happened. I am not good at surprises, or not expecting them."
Sense Motive down lower.
-Val's Favor-
When Val asks about a favor, Tabitha smiles softly. "You know we will help, after all, you did help each of us. So what can we do for you Val?" Tabitha continues to smile softly.
It seems like Tabitha is finding it challenging to describe herself.

Dejah Simin |

Dejah understood Val's need to discover any details regarding her father's movements and return.
"That we can do, Val", looking around at the small party.
Hearing the emotion in the girl's voice, Dejah bade her, "Would you care for some food, Val? Just a light supper of bread, cheese and grapes", motioning to the food on the table.

Dejah Simin |

"Not much older than me." Scars? How much suffering had he endured during the raid? Burning. Unexpected and swift anger at Cade's hardship overcame the Changeling and she curled her taloned hands inward to stem its tide, mindful not to dig the claws directly into her palms. "I am sorry for their savagery upon your person. You have no need for such covering in my presence -- I am not afraid of nor reviled by scars." Her words were issued without fervour or eloquence -- just spoken as quiet truth.

Dejah Simin |

Dejah inclined her head in acceptance of the wizard's daughter's company; eating the simple fare laid out on the table.
"Is there anything more we can do for you, Val?" The wizard's daughter was on her own, too, until his return. If Khonnir returned. The last part she did not utter aloud.
btw, GM Ironcat, I like that you used our pictures instead of game avatars on the map. Thanks!

Caedmon Deckard |

"I am sorry for their savagery upon your person. You have no need for such covering in my presence -- I am not afraid of nor reviled by scars."
Cade relaxes a bit at the lady's words. "Good to hear." He takes her hand and unclenches her fist with his fingers. She's got a little temper. Nice. "It was a long time ago."

Dejah Simin |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

She felt surprise at his touch and endeavour to unclench her hands.
It felt strange having someone other than her father touch her hand. Too many people were frightened of her distinctive nails to even attempt such an action, but not Cade, it seemed.
She smiled a little self-consciously up at him; her smile unsure for a mere second before turning warmer. Dejah hadn't had much to smile about since her father's death. It felt nice to feel a little more alive and part of the larger world, again.
Perhaps we can be friends..., she mused privately. She really didn't have friends -- There were people who knew her and were nice to her. But they were in main her father's contacts and colleagues. It would be nice to have something of her own.

Viorec Kale |

When Caedmon asks after spirits Viorec smiles. not yet skilled enough to call wine from nothing but I do carry a good quantity with me for emergencies of coarse. As Viorec offers a full skin to Caedman and anyone else that wishes to partake.
When Dejah offers Viorec accepts the kind offer of food but seems to only select a few bits of cheese and a grape or two. thank you Dejah taking a grape in hand. I don't normally enjoy grapes this fresh.
I would be happy to help Val and appreciate you offering a place to rest for the night.
when Caedmon offers the bed the bed to Viorec he responds to the generous offer. If you insist friend but if we need stay for more then the single night I would have us switch places.

Just added Tabitha's spell book to her profile. Forgot to add it when I made the profile.

Caedmon Deckard |

Welcome back, Cade. :)
GM Ironcat, are you waiting on us for something specific or are you just held up with RL stuff?
Thank you ;) Glad to be back.

Dejah Simin |

GM Ironcat: For those of us local to Torch, things about inhabitants of town etc -- Do we automatically know who's who, or do we need to roll Know. Local? I'm not quite sure when you need checks or not. So, seeking some direction/clarity, please. :)

Viorec Kale |

It was kind of a 3D arcade style game where you would beat progressively harder baddies that pretty much where the same kinds of enemies at each level just in different skins. It wasn't a bad game just kind of redundant it kind of reminded me of those quarter hungry arcade scrollers that was really popular in the day. I can't remember which system it was on. I don't think it was that popular. If I am remembering the specifics right.

Dejah Simin |

GM Ironcat, is there reason to roll Diplomacy (to influence, befriend or gather info) in this game? I ask because different GMs have different rules on this. I don't want Dejah continuing to roll Diplomacy if it is unnecessary as it doesn't seem that the others are rolling much, if any, Diplomacy checks and are getting info very easily.
Thanks.
