Well, I would think Tabitha's age would be 21... But due to drawback of being naive, she acts a bit younger than she is.
Erm, and you are right. Lemme change that.

Re: Craft (Mechanical): I'll let you put points into it if you want. Techcrafting isn't necessarily going to happen in the early adventures, but I'll definitely put in options for you later on if you want to build your own tech.
It'll just be a matter of finding the proper labs to do it. :)
Okay, will keep it in mind for later levels... Thanks. :)

Tabitha wrote:And going to shift a skill rank from Kn. Local, to Disable Device. So we are going to have two players with DD? Tabitha are you planning on taking rogue class levels? Earlier you said you were going to be a Technologist. What is that? I can't find it.
Have you looked at this Technomancer PRC
You can go full wizard into that.
That I am. And I think having a level in Arcane trickster will help slightly. And I think being able to do disable device from range will help greatly.
Edit: And maybe I should be full wizard. That way I can gain access easier? I don't know. But the sneak attack seems nice.

GM Mason |

The Technomancer's requirements mention nothing about rogue abilities and Arcane Trickster is a major trap. You lose so much spell casting to go that route and really don't get decent until level 10+. Plus, Dejah is pretty much a rogue/ partial arcane caster now with the Archaeologist archetype.
To go Technomancer, you still need 6 ranks DD, but you can take that without even worrying about actually working on traps. With your int and the background skills, you can "waste" 6 points on DD.

Hm... Okay then. Should be fun either way.

Jonas El 'Adan |

I am having trouble with getting a character concept that I can live with and fill the needs of the party. It seems that we will need a dedicated healer and I have been toying with a few ideas. Between all the classes I think I have finally decided on one of the following a Paladin (most likely a hospitlar), Cleric, Witch (Bonded Hedge Witch), or Inquisitor.
Does any body have feedback on any of the potential selections.

GM Mason |

What do you enjoy playing usually?
I looked at a half orc sacred fist of Brigh. If you have a concept you like, I could change my build.
The Artificer Domain power:
Artificer's Touch (Sp): You can cast mending at will, using your cleric level as the caster level to repair damaged objects. In addition, you can cause damage to objects and construct creatures by striking them with a melee touch attack. Objects and constructs take 1d6 points of damage +1 for every two cleric levels you possess. This attack bypasses an amount of damage reduction and hardness equal to your cleric level. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
would be devastating with improved unarmed strike on a construct. ;)
I am flexible if you have another concept you like. I do not believe in "dedicated healers", but having a divine character is almost necessary. Dejah will have some healing.

GM Mason |

The iron priest Cleric is pretty cool too. Channel negative to AOE constructs:
When an iron priest channels energy to heal or harm living creatures, she heals or harms constructs with the clockwork or robot subtypes as well. Constructs without those subtypes are also affected, but gain only half the normal amount of healing or take only half the normal amount of damage, as appropriate. An iron priest cannot harm or heal undead with channel energy.

GM Mason |

Would you be opposed to playing a paladin if GM Iron Cat did not make you act Lawful Stupid?
I love Paladins, but I never play one because of the thought they all have to be do gooders.

Jonas El 'Adan |

I have played a paladin before and was cool with it. I think part of it is the campaign doesn't seem to lend itself to divine characters as well at least to my mind. The only good hook I seen was the one pertaining to Erastil and it was about zealots that pretty much killed anyone that had a piece of tech on them. I don't think that would be very conducive to party unity :) The rest was focused pretty heavily on the world wound right next door.
Need to go to sleep maybe something will come to me tonight.

I felt the same way about divine characters in Numeria. I will do some more research to give you ideas.

GM Mason |

I am not sure if this would mess up balance or even be better or worse for this campaign, but it would be cool if the smite evil was changed to smite tech (constructs). I know nothing about the campaign so there may be more evil enemies than machines. I just think that would make for a cool, flavorful paladin.
The iron priest's channel works this way.
Hell...this would even match my character's concept.

This should be a fun adventure! I can't wait for it to begin.
Since I have my character and such down, what do we know when we begin? We should know of the Technic League among other things, but what do we know really at the beginning of our adventure?

GM Mason |

@Jonas- How are things coming along? I am flexible if you have a concept that you like that doesn't fit the groups needs.

Viorec Kale |

Vioric kale priest of Cayden Cailean. I selected Aasimar with the Scion of Humanity alternate racial trait. I also nixed his light ability for the ability to subsist entirely on honey and wine. I would like to change it to ale and wine because I figure he could be the offspring of the God of bravery, ale, freedom, and wine possibly a generation or so removed.
I had a moment of inspiration from the story of immortals from the movie The Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan and Jet Lee. wanted to get the ok for the adjustments. Still need to flesh out the back story and the like as well as finish character creation.

You'll know of the Technic League's existence at the start of the AP (I mean, it's not like they keep it a secret). I'll roll for some rumours for you guys to have learned of before the adventure's beginning.
Regarding other pieces of knowledge, you'll be filled in on more details once the adventure starts in earnest.

Sure, go ahead. Subsisting entirely on booze sounds reasonable to me. :)

Caedmon Deckard |

Born to a successful inventor
His father accidentally built a machine that could generate high energy photons (gamma rays)
The Technic League found out and sought the item
Caedmon’s father knew it could be a dangerous weapon
They left Torch for Starfell disguised on a caravan with gearsman on their trail
On the road, they encountered an annihilator robot
During the battle, his parents were killed and the artifact his father built was destroyed causing an explosion of radiation
Caedmon was the only survivor, though he was hideously scarred
Found at 9 years old by barbarians and raised. Picked on and forced to fight.
Taken in by a female barbarian who taught him their customs. Always an outsider. Forced to earn respect.
Eventually left to live by himself in the harsh plains (after his "mother" died)
Survived in the wild and scavenged mechanical parts and sky metals to sell in Torch
Known smuggler of Tech (Against Technic League control)
Still has a book of engineering from his dad
Spent the last seven years trading with barbarian tribes and selling/trading/smuggling in Torch
Has a makeshift hut about 5 miles from torch. Respected by the local barbarian tribes.
Bartered and traded with Khonnir Baine. The wizard took a liking to him and would buy him a meal to learn about his life and see what “goodies” Caedmon had to offer.
Khonnir Baine was the only “civilized” person who had shown Caedmon kindness or treated him like a human since the accident.
Caedmon is traveling to torch to find out what happened to the wizard.
I need to get it in narrative form, but here it is for those who would like to read it.

Caedmon Deckard |

--------------------
APPEARANCE
--------------------
Standing at 6'3" tall and weighing 219 lbs, Caedmon is a menace to behold. His head is usually hooded, hiding his baldness and severe facial scarring. He has handsome green eyes. He is cloaked in barbarian robes which provide protection from the harsh Numerian plains. A large backpack and Earth Breaker are attached to his back. His right hand is wrapped in leather straps with spikes protruding from knuckles.

![]() |

Caedmon, you look like you have a nice backstory there! Can't wait to see the finished write up!
And looks like we're all here in stats anyway. Hm, maybe we can start an impromptu roleplay to help flesh ourselves out, or at least have a bit of fun before we begin!

![]() |

I don't think Tabitha is that tall either.... Would have to check it out.

Caedmon Deckard |

A very well thought out backstory/progression for Cade. And fantastic picture.
Cade will be a veritable giant next to Dejah, who's only 4'8" tall and weighs 88 lbs. ;)
Thank you. Careful with those nails.

Tabitha is 5'4" and 95lbs. So the wizard is bigger and bulkier than the bard? :P
Edit: Looking over Tabitha's stats, it looks like she is 18 years old. I must have forgotten that I wrote that down.

![]() |

Why not? I'll assume you've all made it to Torch by now anyway. :)
Okay then!
On an ordinary day in Torch, our Wizard is figuring out how this strange non-magical, magical items work within Khonnir's Workshop. Tabitha is working on a metallic item on a counter, using various little picks and tools to see how it works.
"Is this how it goes? Tabitha is not sure.... Maybe cross this wire with this one? Tabitha really not sure, but lets try it anyway!"
Tabitha then reworks the wires within it, figuring out how it goes.
Disable Device with Tools+Trait: 1d20 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 3 = 22
Tabitha manages to rewire the device, causing it to start a loud beeping sound. The beeping start to go faster. Tabitha looks on in wonder and curiosity. "Hm, wonder what will now happen! Tabitha wants to find out."
The strange item goes from a loud beeping to a loud tone and bursts with a small fireball. Pushing Tabitha back and blowing out a nearby window. The counter she was working on has the scorched remains of the item, also leaving a scorch mark on the counter.
Tabitha is a little bit dazzled, and small bits of her smoking slightly. She coughs slightly and waves her hand in front of her face while she is sitting down on the floor where she landed. "Errr.... Maybe don't cross wires.... Oh... Khonnir is going to be upset with Tabitha." Tabitha winces as she stands up and surveys her surroundings. Noticing the window, Tabitha puts her hand on her face and sighs. "Oh... The window blew out too. He definitely won't like that. Well... Tabitha better start cleaning. At least make things cleared so no one steps on something sharp." Tabitha begins to clean up the workshop and trying to make it neat once again.
Wasn't sure if he had a workshop, but I think he has a small shack somewhere maybe?

Dejah Simin |

Cool! I think that does look like Tabitha. Though in reality she would have many different trinkets on her. :) But anyway, thank you.

Dejah Simin |

You're welcome. :)
Take a look at this one -- has trinkets -- it's hard to find wizard pics with multitude of trinkets. ;) But altered it to suit her colouring ... A little more naivety and youthfulness in her face ...

![]() |

Changed it when Dejah recommended it. I think it works. But either one looks fine for me I think. And for the backstory, the feat could be what it was alluding to. And the trait for when I got to Torch. But if you think I should revise my backstory, I'll just change it back to archaeologist one.
Edit: And I just updated it slightly with the bit of Khonnir. I hope that is suitable.

Yeah! That is definitely more like her. Thank you.

Viorec Kale |

Still want to clean things up some but I think it hits all the high points I was aiming for.
Viorec lived on such tales as he grew up and it affected him. He answered the calling to Cayden Cailean church. Though his was a more personal calling then most priests as he made the choice to follow and express his faith through action. His family was concerned but he soon convinced them of his sincerity and determination and gave him there blessing. Viorec decided to start his wandering attempting to emulate Cayden Cailean as he was brave and free. Soon Viorec was joined by the voice of his patron.
Viorec's wandering soon lead him out of Brevoy and to the strange lands of Numeria. During his travels in the land of Numeria Viorec has had ample opportunity to see the Technic League's deplorable practices and has even had to make a few hasty retreats when they took unkindly to his public denouncement of there actions. Alone Viorec new he was to easily bested so when the opportunity to join with others who had little love for the the league he took it.

Caedmon Deckard |

Nice Viorec. Cade is CG. He and your character should end up hitting it off.
Just an FYI, Cade hates robots. At the start of the campaign, this includes Androids. It should make for some interesting RPing. He thinks they are an abomination and lack a soul. His encounters with them have been poor in the past. He doesn't trust them.

Dejah Simin |

Good job on the backstory, Viorec.
BTW, what colour eyes does Viorec have?
What do you think of this pic for Viorec? I can change the eye colour to whatever you want. (Yep, I like finding (and manipulating) pics for characters. lol)

Dejah Simin |

A little rp to start the ball rolling...I am rping this section with Cade on our way to Khonnir's where we will meet up with Tabitha. This will be Dejah and Caedmon's first meeting.
Walking with her small bundle of supplies tucked under her arm, Dejah veered from the main street into one of the side alleys on her way home. If the townsfolk were not offering their extended, belated condolences on her father's passing, they would stop and stare at her mismatched eyes and make some inappropriate offer and Dejah had no time for it, today, as the hour was growing late and the sun would soon fall, giving way to twilight.
Her mind was busily cataloguing her latest finds and making mental notes for further study, when she heard the shrill command a short distance behind her. "Stop for questioning."
They're not a chatty bunch. Why would the gearsmen need to question her -- she had done no wrong -- knew nothing which would be of import to the Technic League. Or do you... She shook herself out of her reverie and picked up her pace, ignoring the initial warning. Catch me if you can, she dared them silently. But her heart hammered inside her chest -- for the gearsmen were not to be trifled with - she was not stupid.
Dejah dodged the closely packed homes in this part of town; taking the corners and darkening allies with ease (thanks to her keen sight) in an effort to lose the gearsmen. She knew they would not give up the pursuit, for it was not their way, especially if commanded by the League, they would follow her with cold determination to fulfil the will of their masters.
Another shrill command followed on the heels of the first, "Stop, now."
Dejah tucked the parcel inside her coat and began to run. Looking about her for a suitable hiding place, she saw a pile of materials -- wooden slats, crates, stout, empty barrels and an old, heavy tarp and slipped underneath; her petite frame easily able to squeeze in tight/limited spaces. She quietened her ragged breath and markedly waited, hoping they would pass. There was a small rotted hole through one of the discarded crates, giving her a paltry line of sight -- and her gaze stayed at the end of the alley, in the direction of the incoming enforcers.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Dejah Simin |

I was going with Torch (as that is Dejah's hometown). I (the player) didn't know the exact layout of the houses in town (I do have the town map from the player's guide), so I went with some creative license just for this "play" rp ... Do you want me to change anything, GM Ironcat?
I'd say, Dejah came out of the General Store in Torch with her supplies and moved about the houses from there? The Foundry tavern isn't far from there and that's where I presume Tabitha is (Khonnir's home/workshop) for a possible meet-up with her character?

Caedmon Deckard |

Caedmon ducked out of the local tinker's shop and pulled his sand colored hood further over his forehead. Even though he knew the shadows cast by the soon coming twilight would make it more difficult for strangers to see his face, he still did his best to hide its scars from the "civilized' people of Torch. He just found it easier that way.
Evening was his preferred time to travel in this gods forsaken city. If its merchants had not been his best source of income, he knew he would never darken its cobblestone streets again. Looking at the people scurrying around town like The Technic League's ants made him sick to his stomach.
Hiding in his hood was a good way to guard his face, but going totally unnoticed was a different beast altogether. Standing at 6'3", he towered over most of those on the streets. Couple that with his plainsman cloak and large hammer and he was the center of attention most everywhere he went.
This evening, he had other things on his mind though. His friend, Khonnir Baine, had gone missing. He wondered what could have happened to the kind man. These thoughts were consuming him as a tiny girl bumped into him as she ran by. As he turned to get a better view of the girl, he mumbled to himself, "Excuse me." When he turned back around, he heard the hated, monotone voice of a gearsman, "Stop, now." He quickly stepped into action. He paused until the gearsman closed and then "accidently" bumped into it sending it off its course. "Excuse me. My fault." The distraction was enough to allow the young lady to dive out of sight. As the gearsman looked around and then headed in the wrong direction, a crooked smile crossed the man's face.
He waited a few moments to make sure all was clear and then headed in the direction of the hidden woman. Don't get involved Cade...don't get involved. His mind warned him to continue on to his wizard friend's place, but his heart spoke otherwise.

Caedmon Deckard |

It's just the mention of the gearsmen that threw me off. The Technic League taxes Torch heavily, but I'd argue that the town doesn't yet have enough importance to really warrant them.
That was my fault. We can just change it to any local police force that might question people.
