Richie Jean |
Richie just mostly stays out of the way, but helps the local militia out with gathering up and securing all the loot and any surviving raiders. He remains friendly and listens curiously to the two psykers swapping stories.
When things finally wrap up he settles his pack on his shoulders and heads over to the hummer, stroking the tough armored doors. "Sounds good. I wanna see what it's like to ride in this. Not been in anything this big and powerful before." he says excitedly, before hauling himself up into the powerful vehicle.
Pvt. Aaron Nikhols |
Aaron watches the other get their rides moving, and he moves to the driver's seat of the car, grinning as he starts it up. He nods to McCullock, gesturing to the front passenger seat of the car. "You should join us, you know. We made a good team, and... I'd like to hear more about the War. You know, if you don't mind." Aaron shifts gears, and the vehicle hums to life beneath him. "And more about yourself, for that matter. It's not often I meet people that were anything like my father."
The Faceless GM |
McCullock shakes his head. "Someone needs to keep an eye on this place while you're out there hunting down bandits. I'll hold down the fort and make sure there's a town for you to come back to once you clean out those morons. We can trade war stories once you're back."
Pvt. Aaron Nikhols |
"Yeah, fair enough. Who's riding with me, then?" Aaron waves Jane towards the vehicle, motioning for her to climb in the passenger seat. "It's time to get this show on the road, I think."
Max Powers the Justice Cyborg |
Getting ready to ride Lucille, Max turns to Nilus who's now riding the sidecar and tends him his helmet "I have a steel-hard head, you better be using it." as he revs up the engine the Justice Cyborg asks him "Have you ever shot one of these?" pointing at the mounted firearm "I saw you at the fight, you can handle yourself. But if you ever feel curious bud, just point and pray.... that beauty will handle the rest."
Ready to go!
The Faceless GM |
The party heads out into the wasteland through the destroyed town gates, the engine of the newly repaired humvee humming along with the rev of the two motorbikes. The tracks from the vehicle are fairly easy to follow for a little bit as they head away from the town and back toward the road, but they quickly reach a road and find the nice dirt tracks gone.
Zeke Fightmaster |
Zeke pulls his bike over as well, and dismounts to kneel down alongside Max. "Better at just making my own way than following others, but..." He runs his fingers over the rough ground, looking for any telltale signs.
Tracking (Untrained): 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1 Wild: 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
"...No, nothing." Zeke sighs and stands up, peering off down the road. "Any thoughts on which way to go?"
'Calamity' Jane |
Jane leans out of the car, examining the ground.
Tracking (untrained): 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
"Got 'em! Look, a single tire track going that way!" She points in the direction of the track.
Richie Jean |
"Hmm, maybe we should have gotten a local map before we left... at least then we could look for places that would make a good hideout." Richie ponders as two of his companions stare fruitlessly at the ground. He smiles when Jane picks something up, content to trust that she knew what she was doing.
I think there would have been a +2 to track em by the way, since there were more than 5 vehicles... but hey, Jane found em anyway :)
Pvt. Aaron Nikhols |
Faceless, did you keep Tracking/Survival as separate skills, or no? I know we've done in that some games we're in together.
"Let's get a move on, then... Jane, can you take the wheel? I have a feeling we won't have a chance to switch positions once we're there, and it'd be a shame to let that gun up there go to waste if you ask me." Assuming she agrees, Aaron climbs into the turret on top of the car, making sure it's ready to fire.
Zeke Fightmaster |
Zeke grunts in appreciation when Jane finds the trail, and gets back on his bike. Catching Aaron's comment on not letting guns go to waste, he pats the grip of his shotgun and reaches back to make sure he can grab his sword with ease. One of the reasons he liked motorcycles came to mind: you can fight from driving without much trouble. It wouldn't be the first time he'd fired a shot or cut someone down from the seat of a moving bike, if it came to that.
'Calamity' Jane |
Jane slows to a stop some 500 yards from the building (hopefully behind some cover). "What do you think?" she asks Nikhols.
Pvt. Aaron Nikhols |
"I agree with Max, actually. As much as I'd rather just open fire, it'd be wrong not to give them a chance to surrender. Perhaps seeing us manning the vehicles they used to attack the town will persuade some of them to give up without a fight." Aaron leans back in the seat up towards the turret, but he keeps the large, shrouded barrel on target towards the building. "We ought to get a little closer, though, and be ready for a fight. Just because it'd be smart to throw down their arms doesn't mean they will; raiders aren't renowned for their intelligence, after all."
Zeke Fightmaster |
"Their survival instinct isn't always so hot either. Surprisingly." Zeke spits on the ground next to his idling bike and then jerks his head toward the building. "Let's ride up. I'll take point. Seeing a Templar cross is likely to get 'em either riling for a fight or eager to talk, depending on smarts and self-preservation. By which I mean, have that turret ready to fire."
The one-eyed man takes a moment himself to check that his short-barreled, ancient-looking shotgun is fully loaded with shells, and seeing that he is, he pops the ejected shell back into the internal magazine. After that, he taps the handle of his sword, stuck in easy reach even on the motorcycle, and then revs the engine and heads down the road again.
The Faceless GM |
The jeep moves out from behind the hills and draws closer to the building ahead, the party can finally make out the details. It seems to be an old service station or mechanic's workshop, with a beat up sign made in the shape of a sports car standing in front of the building. Several closed garage doors stand on a long section of the building while a two story office is at the far end, with a ramshackle structure that seems to have been hastily added on top. The building seems dark for the most part.
Pvt. Aaron Nikhols |
"Come out quietly, and drop your weapons!" Aaron bellows from atop the jeep, the turret of the machine gun pointed towards the door of the service station. "We killed your leader and the rest of your friends, and I don't have any problems with doing the same to you, unless you cooperate!" Aaron pauses for a second, giving them a moment to respond. "You have ten seconds, or I'll light this place up, understand me?"
The Faceless GM |
For another moment the building is silent, then two gun shots ring out. One bounces off the jeep's armor, but the other whizzes close enough to Aaron's shoulder for him to actually feel the bullet moving past him.

The response is immediate. Lights flicker on in several rooms and you hear rapid shouts and people moving around inside. Four more shots ring out and you see two black objects being hurled through the air, straight at the vehicle. Most of the shots go wide, striking the ground around the party, but another shot wings Aaron, grazing his shoulder and thankfully not getting through the strap of his vest. One of the objects falls short, erupting in a blast of fire and shrapnel in the dead space between the humvee and the building, but the other hits directly in front of the vehicle and rolls under. It detonates, making the vehicle rock, but the sturdy military vehicle seems to weather the hit well enough.

Zeke Fightmaster |
GM, I'm not sure if I quite understand the layout of the situation at the moment. Originally, Zeke was intending to take point, driving in front of the jeep to approach the building; I'm fine with that changing, he could easily have stopped and let the humvee pull up alongside him. I'm not sure if there's an open door or anything that we could use, though; you mentioned closed garage doors, but what are they made of, and do they look like they could be opened?
kamenhero25 |
For convenience, the building looks a lot like this with the doors closed. They're made of metal and the main building/office is bigger. There's a door and several windows, all of which you are currently being shot from.
Zeke Fightmaster |
Hmm, alright. Hopefully what I'm about to do is possible, and works...
Zeke revs his bike's engine to life and roars forward, driving straight for the building. Coming up alongside it, he sweeps the motorcycle sideways and launches himself from its seat, hurtling into one of the windows back-first, curling into a ball as he does so. The Templar crashes through the glass and rolls to his feet on the other side, bringing up his sword--and if he has the opportunity to do so, moving to cover.

You know what, that works. Go for it. It's not like Deadlands isn't pulpy anyway.
The raiders all stare in absolute shock as Zeke hurls himself through the window and rolls straight over the head of one of the men with a rifle. Inside, he finds himself in a mostly open room with a counter that was probably the counter for the business when the place still functioned. There are five men on the ground floor, one at each window with a hunting rifle, two near the door with sidearms who seem to have thrown the grenades, and one more who seems to be coming down a set of steps at the back of the room with another handgun.
As Zeke makes his dramatic entrance below, a door on the ramshackle addition on top of the building bursts open. "What's all that racket?" a scrawny man in a welder's smock shouts as he burst out. "I'm trying to work!" He looks down at the front of the building and lifts a strange, makeshift contraption that looks like a combination between a blowtorch and a machine gun. "Stealing my machines?! Not on your lives! I'll blow it sky high before I let you have it!" The device crackles with lightning and he aims the strange gun thing at the vehicle before firing a massive energy bolt straight at the humvee. The massive lightning bolt hits the front of the vehicle and electricity arcs all over the hummer. As the bolts stream across the car, the instruments on the dashboard go haywire and detonate, throwing glass and smoke in Jane's face, leaving scratches along her arms as she tries to shield herself. The passengers can all feel the vehicle heave as one of the tires outright explodes from the heat, shaking the car again.
In summary: Zeke pulls of his bad*ss entry and a crazy as hell mad scientist comes out to wreck your new ride. Jane is shaken and the vehicle has sustained two wounds and damage to its tires.

The entire ground floor is lit up with brilliant light and concussive force stronger than any flashbang sends them all tumbling head of heels, dazed by the blast. Even Zeke is caught and knocked near senseless by the blast, though from his position he can make out that the man on the stairs managed to throw himself part way back up the stairs, avoiding most of the blast.
The four raiders on the lower floor are all shaken, as is Zeke.

Pvt. Aaron Nikhols |
You've seemed to have that problem with a lot of your games recently. Also, if you're taking a multi-action penalty to shoot twice, I think you're limited to one attack with a singular weapon on semi-auto even with multi-action penalties.
Max Powers the Justice Cyborg |
May have something about my internet and redirectioning loops, because I'm having simmilar problems with my emails -mails marked as read even though I didn't-. As for the penalties, I don't copy you. Do you mean I can only fire once? As far as I know with this weapon I can fire up to 3 times per round with a -2 recoil penalty, but I'm not sure if I can combine it with 3RB because that may be a houserule from the Fallout game. If I can't, please do correct me and assume the attacks are at 4 and 2 without the Edge bonus
Pvt. Aaron Nikhols |
It doesn't combine with 3RB normally, no. Since that's technically automatic fire, you can't combine it with things like 3RB, because you're getting more actual attacks as opposed to just a bonus. That said, it does mean you could also roll a third attack.
Max Powers the Justice Cyborg |
Okey, now I know it for sure. Confussion comes from Greentea allowing semi auto Double Tapping and 3RB to balance Energy Weapons and Solid Projectile ones . I also keep forgetting that full/semi auto means only one Wild Die.
Attack #3: 1d8 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
Max's round resume: 3 attacks resulting in 4, 2 and 2. But if the enemies are between 30 and 35 ft away I get a +2 to each from Cibernetic Eyes.
The Faceless GM |
You're about 20 yards away. Do note that every raider has medium cover from the building, which is another -2, so you're going to need that bonus to get any hits. Also, your cyber eyes give a +2 to hit from medium or long range (70 yards or more with your gun), which is mean to lower range penalties, unless you have a kind of eyes I can't find in the book.
Also, going to need Jane to roll to remove shaken and a drive check at a -2 before she can slam the jeep through the front door.
