Then he go back to his place saying to Brother Domo
'Come , Brother Domo, and let us speak of this great fight . It seem the others are either dead , escaped or too proud to speak with us ! '

"The talk of demons troubles me, friend. If they are capable of possessing anyone, then are we safe? How would I know if I were possessed even now?"

FH hasn't been able to post. Rad too. I'll take Aref for a bit here.

Aref interprets the lights shining from the gem: "There are auras of divination, enchantment, and conjuration. Enchantment is dominant, and indicates strong. The divination aura is also fascinating, indicating multiple effects. Vatever it does, it is powerful. At the least a minor artifact. We have been foolish to not consider that this might help us vith our demon problem.

Perhaps this is the battery to his prison. And a way to find him."

Kruelaid, I've been going over my stats and I discovered some discrepancies. If you don't mind I'd like to update them to Beta standard.

"Perhaps we should consult the temple of Iomedae perhaps they have lore about Vass, Iomedae being of the same persuasion as Aroden." Cordoba suggests to his companions.

Brother Domo wrote:

"Well, Vass hasn't been able to possess me."

"Symptom of Vass' possession is a fiery gaze, literally."

Aref: "Yes. Usually ven you anger him. Which is quite easily done."

For information , it is my sentiment that Hoktsumisso and Brother Domo are still donwstairs since they were not invited upstairs .
So far , no one has replied to our questions ...
There doesn't seem too be much interaction beetween players . Hope this will change

Beats me, Robin. I can tell you that staying downstairs won't help.

Also, Syd started up with Domo, and I don't think Domo replied.

And it looks like the bag of loot is all yours....

Male Half-orc Fighter 2

Syd catches the halfling by the arm, "'Ere, watch yer mawf and show some respect. I just watched me mate killed like a codfish, and the bastards joked abaht it. If tha's too proud for yer, then stuff it."

There you go... Thanks Fabes.

"You two must stay together with us, now. You have fought him. Now he will use you and kill you."

Sometimes the DR PBP is like being at the autistic improv....

Happy Lunar New Year from Weihai, China, everyone!

Male Gnome Druid 3

The gnome seems to be incensed by this talk and Syd's trying to catch his arm
' MUST ! No one tells me MUST ! Now you are visibly strangers here and I'll tell you what I think ! YOUR demon did take possession of one of the other group just to force an attack beetween the two groups ! His friends reacted to our attack just as you would have done . Now , they were not the kind of adventurers your mother would have like you to go with and the fact we killed them won't make me lose any sleep . But the one cheering was the demon '
Simmering down
' I'll come with you for the moment because it won't be dull but don't come all haughty with me , We are adventurers not nursemaids here and it comes with the fact that some will fall by the wayside. If you have money , you can have them raised else tough luck . We are not in a fairy tale where the good live happily everafter and the wicked go to hell. I'm sorry for your friend but I didn't hear a word of thanks for our help and this stuck in my craw as the one there would colorfully say ! '

Obviously , Hoktsumisso has difficulty being a diplomat ...

Jon Qiang wrote:

Domo seems troubled by this, then sets his jaw and nods. He bows low to the party, "I am yours, bound by my blood to aid you if I may, or hinder your enemies if need be. By Cayden Cailean, I swear this."

"You can fight him when he is inside but he took Ryor completely. He will be very dangerous here in the city."

Male Half-orc Fighter 2

Syd looks down at the halfling and just says quietly, "You don't geddid, do yer? Guys like you never do."

He turns to Domo and extends a meaty hand to shake, "Fanks fer yer 'elp. Sorry yer 'ad to get that Vass fella on yer. But, safety in numbers, eh?"

Pulsifer & Aref:

Spoiler:
I checked back to when you found the prison and Aref did a detect magic and scoped the room, but I didn't report the auras on the cylinder and gem, just on the traps in the room. My bad. Glue. Don't sniff it.

It wouldn't have mattered anyway without the means to discover its operation and really, the cylinder was somewhat obscured by lenses.

Anyways, now that you're in town you can have your way with it.

Here's a cookie to keep things moving: any good mage worth his salt would probably guess that the enchantment properties would be a bind spell. The divination auras it is radiating would presumably be some way to detect or see the demon. That would explain why Vass wanted it. Conjuration, I'll guess you'll find out.

This one's not free, but the hey, the DC is reasonable and you can go at it with several skill rolls:

  • Spellcraft and/or Knowledge [arcana, religion] DC 15+:
    Spoiler:
From the burnt remains of the book you found several drawings of demons that are presumably renderings of Vass or his like in native form. If someone is going to bind this demon again they'll need a picture.

Domo takes the hand warmly. "Indeed. I am honored to be among such company."

The plan, then, as I take it, will be:

  • To the temple of Iomedae to get help with the Eye.
  • To the river district to track down Book.
    In that order?

  • "We need wizard or priest?"

  • I'd rather do it the other way but with Vass at-large, I cannot afford to confront Book with Vass suddenly joining in the fun.

    MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Now that is a scary thought: all of us sleeping in one room.

Everyone goes to sleep.... Hehehe. Perception rolls.

    Male Gnome Druid 3

    Perception 25

A plan made, everyone moves downstairs to the bunks in the basement room near Draka's secret escape tunnel.

Shipwrecked, sun-burned, sand-blown, blistered, exhausted, and having just seen their friend cut down by a total stranger, the four one-time slaves slip into the deep dreamless sleep of total exhaustion.

They entrust watches to Aref, Domo, and Hoktsu. But Aref drifts into sleep, muttering in a faraway dream, and Domo slips in and out, awakened every ten minutes by kicks from the alert halfling. And sometime in the deep of the night after the homebound drunkards cease their quibbling and dogs finish their howling Hoktsu feels something - presence - in the room - and a coldness.

In the darkness a green light leaks out of the pack sack Aref holds, clutched under his chin.

    Domo and Hoktsu, will rolls.

Hoktsu, if you have any buffs that will help you with the will rolls, or if you wish to awaken the others before... something... happens. You may do so.

    Perception: 1d20+8=25

    Minus ten for being asleep.

Will save 14 (+2 vs illusions) huho

Domo, Pharasma , in case Hoktsumisso can talk

    Spoiler:
Hello , are you Vass ? Are you really a demon , What is it like ? do you like it ? Why is the gem glowing ? Do you really possess people ? what does it feel like ?

Please not that Hoktsumisso is a GNOME not an halfling

    Domo and Hoktsu:

    Spoiler:
Both of you now sense the presence and see Aref's green sphere glowing. Your minds then spin out if control for a moment, go back to the hour before the Varisians walked into the bar, you remember it clearly and then strangely and suddenly you find yourselves sitting in Draka's having a beer last night a few minutes before they entered.

Other than feeling a little sleepy, the night replays as usual, except for the bizarre waking dream you seem to have just had about some strangers who came in and started a terrible fight. You may chat freely as if nothing else is happening around you - about this or anything else - you remember the fight and the demon, but the sensation of being back last night is so powerful that you can not be certain if it really happened. You may make a will save every round. You definitely do not know what is happening in the room around you right now.

Everyone else perception rolls. Don't worry about sleep modifiers I'll tack them on. Got you Rad.

Sorry about the Gnome-Halfling mixup. Must happen all the time.

"Friend gnome, I have the strangest feeling that this has all happened before! What a strange feeling!" Domo shakes his head as if to clear it. "Perhaps I should stay away from the Keshian Tea next time?"

    Will: 1d20+6=19 (+2 vs enchantments)

Because you talked out loud, the sleepers will get circumstance bonuses to wake up, but you get no answer. This also goes for the conversation that Domo starts after the illusion begins. You can question what you're seeing as you like - don't feel like you have to play this as if you believe you're back in the hall drinking with Domo.

In his sleep... mumbling... rubbing the emerald glob in his pack sack. "Akilara... oooooh <mumble> Aki.!"

Yes , this time , we can see the end of the dance !

    Will save 10

    Brother Domo wrote:

While he watches Akilara dance, Domo keeps seeing a weird green light out of the corner of his eyes... everything melts away and then melts back.

You are in the basement on watch again. Hoktsu is staring off into space. The others are all asleep.

Akilara herself is stooped over Aref, relieving him of his sack ever so gently and caressing his cheek.

As loud as he can: "Thief! Unhand that gem! It does not belong to you!"

Then, if possible, move to Akilaria and attempt to grapple: CMB:

It's only logical . Domo is not used to grapple women
