DESCRIPTION:
Domo’s a slight lad, pale skinned with dark short hair. He wears a simple monk’s outfit, belted with a fine leather sword belt and scabbard. His rapier looks out of place on the lad, but the hilt is well-worn and the blade is kept clean. He wears a short cloak made of pale blue fabric and silver bracers engraved with symbols of cranes and tigers. He is never without his well-battered ale mug, though you’d never see him drink from it. A brown pony follows him around like a dog, baring its teeth and snorting at anyone else who gets too close. Domo is in his early 20’s, but his bright baby face lends him a younger air. He’s quick to laugh, but his eyes always seem to be a bit wistful.
STORY:
Spoiler:
If the foundling known as Domo had been a normal child, he would probably have made an exemplary monk. But fate has a sense of humor and to the Monastery of the Inner Light fate gave Domo. Domo’s parents died in a bandit attack soon after he was born and the boy was given to the monks to raise. He was brought up to be a quiet, contemplative boy and he was until he found the book stuffed between the pages of volume 3 of Perfection and the Inner Light. The book, a chapter tale of the exploits of Cayden Cailean, complete with lewd drawings and songs, was never supposed to be there. Yet it was, and in its pages Domo found a world of swashbuckling romance and adventure that his monastic life had not prepared him for. He was never the same again.
Caught between a world of order and the fantasy life of a hero, Domo grew restless. He excelled at the physical tasks put to him, but his concentration wavered on the mental challenges. Eventually it was decided that Domo needed to get the wanderlust out of his head and he was sent into the wide world, gifted with an antique pair of bracers and his beloved chapter book.
Finding himself in the world, he immediately hired himself out as a caravan guard, exactly as his hero had done. He took sword lessons where he could, learning the art of fence. Now he finds himself out of work, his employment ended after he reported his employer’s habit of under reporting sales when asked by a tax collector.
His own lawful tendencies conflict terribly with his dream of a chaotic lifestyle. He has come to see himself as a protector of the common man, the thin line between good and evil. He still dreams of vaulting off chandeliers and saving damsels, though, with a white rose clenched between his teeth…
