Going to her bunk she takes our her healers kit she addresses the others who had the courage to face the branding.

Daren is back to lounging on the bunk as the rest return, not really responding to the others' arrival except for the slightest smirk at thinking about his victorious debate.

Morgabir looks at the burn, then shrugs.

"Nah, mine looks like a clean enough burn. Straight edges and shallow flat, it'll heal fine. Appreciate the offer, though."

He bandages up his arm, then rearmors himself and lays down.

"Wll, that could've gone worse, i suppose."

Walking back in the cold dark to their tent, Oalin looks back and says to no one in particular… ”Darn it… I should have asked the smith if he just does repairs, or casting, gets raw metal, or ore to do his work… Next time I guess.”

Upon entering the tent, he rubs his skinny arms to get warm and puts on his trousers, ”Freya, I’d appreciate some of that salve so I can dress my arm.”

Finn, can you play something nice? I could use cheering up after all this… if no one else minds?”

Taking 10 for a decent 20 heal

Day count=(3, evening time); weather= (dark and stromy); situational Modifiers=(Food and water is suffecient.)

After getting a good nights sleep following the long day the party wakes up to a wake up bugle, some of you used to Farmer hours wake up easily and some of you not so much. Brock gets up and starts getting dressed telling everyone. "We better get ready, we are expected to be lined up outside, the last ones get the worst duties. I don't know if they will cut us some slack or not because we are new but why risk it. You don't need weapons or anything this is just a daily announcement." with that he gets ready faster than any of you and heads out the door.

finn:
@Finn- you wake up to a bad dream, the dream was that you could not report on time to Fieram, you raced home to find your whole family killed with the house burning in the background. your sisters bodies littering the ground, Siobhan baerly alive. she looks up as you come close. "what did we do wrong, Finn?" before dyeing.

Oalin fumbles around a bit at the new routine... but not having much to wear or carry, does not delay purposefully.

Unless anyone is intentionally wanting to be last, Oalin will probably be the last one out this first day. DM can decide if that is due to Thing being troublesome or just because he is new to the routine.

Ranger 2 | HP 21/21 | Fort +5 Ref +6 Will +1 | Perception +6 (Darkvision 60') | Init +5

Morgabir rolls out of bed, draws his boots on and heads out the door.

While he walks out, he tosses his cloak around his shoulders and stands outside the door.

"So, hurry up and stand in line?"

Grumbling as his clothing brushes over the still raw brand, Virid dresses and steps out to the line, snorting when he passes Finn and Daren.
If i’d known whining would work, I’d have put up more of a fuss as well.
Expression sour, he stands at the ready, but relaxed.
Hope they have better things for us to do than be talked down to and burned.

Daren gets up slowly, not used to such an early start. Slipping on his gear quickly, Daren gets up and moves out with the others to stand at attention, though he is unable to stop a yawn from escaping.

Oalin takes a cue from seeing the others at various levels of attention, and poorly tries to imitate. Thing is half-perched on his shoulder, the other half extending down the back of his jerkin holding on.

Fieram walks down the group of assembled people looking at everyone while a little further back Lord markam sits in a chair outside his tent watching the proceedings. After the last of the people gather he starts "Well now Squad three, your on latrine and cleaning duty." you hear a bit of grumbling and snickers. "Ok, you might have heard we had some reports of more attacks. Squad one, your on scouting." and he continues going through until he gets to your number. "squad four, your going to begin your training today. leave your things and meet outside the castle wall on the west side; you have one hour. Only clothing, mind you. Leave your beast, lass. you wont need him. " with that he continues going through the list you figure in all there is about one hundred soldiers in this Militia. After he assigns everyone a duty he dismisses you. you see several other soldiers milling about.

Brock heads off to grab a little food, from where there appears to be a line forming. Around some people cooking in a large caldron.

Gweenth heads back to the tent.

Leaving his gear in the tent, Daren heads toward the food line, hoping a meal might make him more awake, though he loses that hope as he sees the gruel they're handing out. Stuck on pig rations. The thought doesn't help his mood.

Witch 2 | HP 9/9 | Fort +1 Ref +2 Will +4 | AC12 T12 FF10 | Percep +1 | Init +3

With nothing but himself, clothing and Thing, Oalin goes straight from the parade ground to get in line for food.

Afterwards, he returns to their tent, telling Thing, "My guess is they want just us. I mean, you know, bigger people." Oalin screws up his face trying to find the right words, "I mean, since Freya has to leave the bear behind, I think I have to leave you behind too. You make sure you don't get mistaken for some foraging pest, Thing, I'm counting on you to teach me still."

He awkwardly times his leaving the tent for training to coincide with Finn's departure (suddenly bolting out the tent when he realizes Finn just left.) The more I stick to Finn, the more Finn and I will talk, and become better friends.

Male Human Bard 2 | HP 17/17 | Fort +2 Ref +6 Will +3 | AC 17 | perception +5 | Int +1 | Init +3 | Bardic knowledge +1

Fin get in the food line, get his food and eat (again, enhancing his flavor with prestidigitation). Then he remove the chain shirt, make his bed, store his stuff and clean himself.
Then he move to the training ground.

So Squad three has latrine duty. They will clear our latrine too? I hope nothing go missing, but the only important thing is the lute.

Ranger 2 | HP 21/21 | Fort +5 Ref +6 Will +1 | Perception +6 (Darkvision 60') | Init +5

Morgabir heads back into the tent, doffing his chain shirt and straightening his area.

He looks over his weapons, deciding to leave everything behind. Thinking better of that, he sticks his knife in his boot and coils his sling up and stows it in a pocket.

"I can use rocks, maybe we'll come across some rabbits or squirrels or something." he mutters to himself, then grabs his waters kin before heading to the food line.

Speaking with the others from his squad waiting in line, Morgabir tries to remain optimistic.

"What do you figure they'll have us do? Run, carry, dig holes, that kind of stuff? This militia stuff sure seems like a lot of waiting around for instructions, eh?"

female Aasimar Cleric (Herald Caller) 1 | HP 10/10 | Fort +5 ,Ref +1, will +6 | Perception + 7 | Ini +1

Freya does as she has been ordered and instructs Bjorn to guard her items. Just with skirt and tunic and boots she stands with the others, carefully eating each and all to gain strength for the ordeals about to come

Having finished eating, Virid hurries back to the barracks and changes into just his clothing. Seeing Mor pack a knife, and remembering how suddenly their last battle had come upon them, he hesitates and then wraps a whip around his waist as a makeshift belt. It circles him nearly three times, but otherwise isn’t overly noticeable.
Yes. I didn’t realize they were recruiting so many. In a camp this large, we might spend our whole term of service marching and cleaning without ever actually being used. I’m...not sure how I feel about that.

Day count=(3, evening time); weather= (dark and stromy); situational Modifiers=(Food and water is suffecient.)

yall can still talk or have conversations on the side in the tent. I just am keeping things moving. just designate that your in the tent.

After the hour passes, you gather where Fieram directed, he gathers everyone to get in line and you take a small hike following a pathway into the forest after about ten minutes you come up to a wall. Fieram starts "Ok, this is our training course we will be hitting this over the next month. however, because this is your first time. there is a prize at the end to the first one that finishes. there are no prizes for second place, you will see many things along the way. There will be also soldiers in Red to help direct, follow the path. Aright everyone line up." don't worry about the "month" I will be fast forwarding the training after the course

You see Brock and Gweenth line up next to the rest of you. Brock looks at mor, "five gold on that I finish before you?"

Fieram says, "any questions? OK, Ready go!!" I will address any questions you have on the side with ooc.

this will be different than what yall have done before. I will put the order at the bottom of the race, there will be puzzles. ability checks, skill checks and maybe short combat. all the descriptions will be spoilers to each of you. please respect the spoiler. you can also possibly hinder or help others. I hope yall like this.

#1 ----At wall---

this wall is about ten feet up, logs placed on the side. there are no ropes.
Climb chk DC 12-

Brock climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Gweenth climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

You see Brock and Gweenth run up to the wall, Brock quickly jumps up and grabs the edge before pulling himself and landing over on the other side, Gweenth also comes up to the wall and finding handholds pulls herself up. before looking over at the rest, "Virid, surely Sune wont feel bad you letting a lady win," she says with a smirk. before jumping over.

current leaderbaord-
Brock, gweenth.
Vir, Mor, Oalin, Finn, Daren, Freja.

Witch 2 | HP 9/9 | Fort +1 Ref +2 Will +4 | AC12 T12 FF10 | Percep +1 | Init +3

Climb: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12

Struggling as mightily as his small frame allows, Oalin barely makes it over the wall. He bends at the waist, catching his breath on the other side for a moment, then looks about for the leaders so he can catch up...

M Half-orc Warpriest 2 | HP: 16/16 | AC: 20, T: 14, FF: 16 | Fort: +7, Ref: +6, Will: +7 | Perception: +2 | Init: +4 |

Virid gives a growl, which quickly devolves into a chuckle at Gweenth’s comment, and he throws himself at the wall, awkwardly clambering to the top.
climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Why is this top log so slick?! Virid manages the panicked thought in He brief moments before his grip fails and he thuds heavily back to the ground. After brushing himself off and painfully stretching, he attempts the climb again.
climb2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
How did I not learn my lesson the first time?!
Virid’s fingers slide off the slick portion again.
climb3: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Breathing heavily, Virid groans as he crests the top and pauses to catch his breath.
I’m certainly not off to much of a start. It will take all of my luck to catch up at this point.

A contest to see who is top dog here, huh? They surely can't expect to compete with a noble, can they?

As Fieram says 'go', Daren takes off, ready to prove just how much better he really is.

Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Reaching the wall, Daren leaps up with a running start to get as high as he can, then climbs up the rest of the way hurriedly. Daren lets out a breath as he reaches the top. One task down.

I'm assuming taking ten is not an option for these as it is a contest of sorts?

female Aasimar Cleric (Herald Caller) 1 | HP 10/10 | Fort +5 ,Ref +1, will +6 | Perception + 7 | Ini +1

Running toward the wall, Freya with a smile takes a small step and jumps up, grabs the ledge and pulls herself over.
Run like a deer, jump like a wolf.

Finn move to the wall and tries to climb.

I am really happy that I have left the armor back at the tent. I hope it will go smoothly. Climbing has never been one of my strong skills.

Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

S@#@, one more go.

Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

At least I am not the last one!

We can take 10? At least as long as no one hinder us it should be possible. The margin of success matter?

Ranger 2 | HP 21/21 | Fort +5 Ref +6 Will +1 | Perception +6 (Darkvision 60') | Init +5

Take 2:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 climb

Slipping on the first attwmpt, Morgabir steps back, then jumps and vaults over the wall in front of him.

"That was a bit less than graceful, unfortunately."

dang, I forgot to mention you can only do one check a round unless the obstacle calls for more, it will be under the description. so mor and virid will be behind and there checks they posted will be the assumed posts for this round (then virid the round after :-( ). there will be two descriptions one for passers and one for fails from now on. also i'm encouraging crap talk, and if you happen to have something, spells, weapons that you brought, or the like, if you can explain it go enough in your post you can use it to gain a +2 on the roll. use your best judgement, (I could have seen a dagger helping climb or whip but I couldn't see it balancing or dodging.) you can also if explained good enough on posts hinder people by -2 on the roll, if you had grease for example on something use your imagination. If I don't agree i'll have a judge call it out and have the person restart the obstacle or "clean/fix" it. Please post as spoilers to the same people on the same obstacle as you if possible.

@daren-correct no taking a 10 or 20.

Oalin, Daren, Freja:

As you hop over the wall you see a path leading to a pole with water underneath, bridging in-between. you need to balance on it to pass, the pole is 30 ft long.

to pass-
DC 14 acrobatics, to move across the pole.

if failed-
less than 5, you need to spend next round swimming back to the beginning, dc 10, if failed swim check, need to retry swim next round.
by more than 5, you are close enough to the edge of the water to try the pole again next round. (because your balance sucks that bad.)

Brock immediately falls into the water close to the edge with a loud curse. Gweenth manages to balance her way across laughing at Brock.
