He sits down casually and relaxed and looks about lazily. "Well, although I'm sure you'll run across something that strikes the fancy of the Council, we find things, mostly, so we'd be selling more than likely,. You said you sell Succubus Musk, we found some, got no real use for it, but if it's out there, then it's out there, another vial or two shouldn't hurt much, right? And any other such odds and ends we pick up here and there as well. Here's the thing some of this stuff is likely to be a dangerous kind."
"You're right, we don't do much head cracking around here, it doesn't really sit well, and honestly, I'd like to do as little as possible, since it's going to be my job to do it, when it comes down to it." At this point Kae leans in toward Grishnak, conspiratorially, "Here's the thing. I don't want to have to track down some criminal that got his hands on something we found, and sold to you without knowing what to exect, so If we're going to do business, I'd like to know where the goods we give you go, for starters. That way there's nothing for me to be mad at you about since you helped me out, you get to do your business, my life is easier, everyone wins."
"To be completely honest, eventually, I'd like to know what product is in the town, where it's going, where it's coming from, and who's got it, but I don't want to be getting ahead of myself right now. But if you scratch my back, make my life easier, it's to my advantage to scratch yours. If you aren't doing good business, then i get nothing out of this deal, so I won't go hurting your enterprises with any information I get. It'd be privileged, confidential. And at the end of the day, if any skulls need cracking, I'm going to crack 'em with or without you."
"You'd just make things easier on me if we stayed on the same page, meaning you would have significantly more leeway. You think we could make that sort of arrangement work? If not I still have more I'd like to discuss, about some plans that I mean to propose." Hopefully Grishnak gets how this is a win-win situation and will be receptive.
"I just want to be able to tell my fellows that we can safely trade with you without the items we find getting into the wrong hands."

Grishnak seems to be very wide-awake now at this business proposal, catching the drift immediately.
"I like your style, lad - yes indeed, yes indeed," he says, scratching his chin.
"The thing is, a lad like myself - to do things properly... Well, my expenses be right high, normal-like, because there be certain risks attached, if you get me? But if you're telling me you can cut back on the risks, then maybe we can help each other."
Grishnak pauses and watches Kae carefully.
"I be thinking that, as ye referenced the council, that you speak for their voice completely? That is to say, I'm not talking to a one-man opperation here, right? You say it's a done thing - it's a done thing? Because, I really hate to make a deal then find out the deal ain't honest... I don't like bad business deals," he adds the last flatly.
"Well - we can talk practicality now. For example; Succubus Musk? Highly overated, to be sure... You're willing to sell, I may lay down a few coins for it - if you need me to take it off your hands. Indeed - I got no problem with doing it at all, if you want."
"The important thing here is that you're looking for a buyer's market. Now, in time, there may be some shady elements that might crop up in town later - they may be jealous of our friendship and our continuing... Business arrangements? Well, as an added business arangement - can I look to you for protection? That is to say - if my organization formally enters businss relations with your council, and provide you good deals on hard to find items - can I expect you to look after me in a tight spot, too? That is to say - if another competitor starts leaning on me hard? Or, if another person decides to push muscle on me? That'd be bad for business, bad for our relationship - bad for the whole town. If you can come in and help me in those sticky situations, if a rival comes in here to push something on the good folk - then we can help ourselves better."
He eyes Kae intently. You'd guess that for all his crass bluster, at this point he is being completely serious and honest with you.
"You tell me how many hits of that Succubus Musk you got and I'll give you at least 500 gold a hit - maybe more - flat rate, up front. And maybe I got things like that for you? But, before we make this done deal I got to know one thing: do you speak for the council and the law, or are you just one lad here making side deals under the table."
He watches you for a moment, considering his options.
"Make no mistake, it's no difference to me - if you stand alone or not - I can deal with you directly, if you prefer, I just want to know who to look for as my friend in this town - and who not to look at as a friend? Personally, I'd be right happy to work for your council formally and as a business partner - not under you all - I prefer to be an independent contractor for sentimental reasons - but in the end, you'd get the first cut of my best business. That's a bloody garuntee, all the way around. Trust me on that one," he adds the last with a toothy grin, and pours himself a drink from a barrel next to him, offers you a mug, and waits for your answer.

"What can I do for you, ma'am?" Ivy asks, doing her best to sound as gracious and polite as possible.
"Hello, Ivy. I came looking for your mother but Peaches here has informed me she is sleeping. And then she ran off to summon you before I could get another word in." Ry gives Peaches a look, of part amusement and part frustration.
Ariarh doesn't know whether she should delve into the business of why she had come to speak with Lily Banks, but after a minute decides there would be no harm in doing so.
"A few of the Council are headed to Oleg Leveton's place and we ride this afternoon. I was hoping to convince your mother to come along with us, willing to hire her for her services. As she is sleeping, I am hesitant in waking her to see if she is available and would accept my proposal." Ry remains silent for a short time, the sound of Peaches' naughtiness moving around them. "Ivy? Would you be interested in coming along in your mother's stead? I am willing to pay you for your time and services and we sure could do with some assistance on this journey. I cannot promise this trip will be uneventful or that there will be no present danger." Ry looks at the Holbyt female before continuing, "What say you, are you available to help?" Kolgrym wipes the sweat from his brow and pauses his carving to look at the bone in his hands. He started his work before the dawn, but several hours had passed and the sun now shone brightly in the morning sky. The dwarf had always been meticulously when carving, often spending several minutes considering each mark before setting tool to bone; a design was slowly taking shape, the spiral of Pharasma's holy symbol surrounded by a flock of as-yet undefined birds, but it would take several more morning like this one before it was finished.
Coming to his feet, the priest stretches and takes a moment to work a slight knot out of his shoulder. He then gathers up his tools and the bone, and turns back toward the fortress. Marching back the short distance, Kolgrym's mind is set on an early lunch followed by tracking down the priest the others had mentioned the previous day. He'd also have to see if anyone in the area had any cider; Lily's tea had been delicious, but it lacked the body to stand next to a good meal.

He'd also have to see if anyone in the area had any cider; Lily's tea had been delicious, but it lacked the body to stand next to a good meal.
As you walk up to the fortress you see a lone silver kobold approaching you. He is dressed finely, and is carrying a narrow blade.
His eyes are more calm, more intelligent then the others somehow, and he looks leaner, more graceful. When he sees you, he moves to greet you formally and speaks.
"I am Adjt - of the Seti clan. You are a priest of Pharasma - greetings," he says matter-of-factly, as if he was simply stating the weather, rather then making introductions.
You sense he wants to speak to you over some matter, but about what, you do no not know... Still, he is coutreous, as all the silver kobolds seem to be, and seems to possess a keen intelect and logical mind. A priest so dedicated to the natural order of things would, perhaps, find such a style of logical and reasonable thought to be stimulating.
Then again, only time will tell...
Adjt waits for you, and is hoping you will follow him.

Kolgrym Barringald |

Kolgrym remains doubtful of these silver-scaled kobolds' intent, but they've yet to present any evidence of the malicious nature their more common kin are known for.
"Greetings Adjt of the Seti Clan. I am Kolgrym Barringald and yes, I serve of the Lady of Graves. Is there something you wish to discuss?" The dwarf makes no indication of slowing his pace, his stomach intent on its next meal even as his mind turns to the situation at hand. He motions for the kobold to join him as his feet lead him toward the kitchen.

The dwarf makes no indication of slowing his pace, his stomach intent on its next meal even as his mind turns to the situation at hand. He motions for the kobold to join him as his feet lead him toward the kitchen.
"You are in a hury - and clearly a being of direct purpose. Singly, those are not always good qualities - but conjoined they can make a strong element. For to move with speed on the path of a strong purpose is a noble thing," Adjt responds, moving with you and matching your pace.
"For myself, and my brethern, we have our own purpose - and each of us clearly aligned with them. But my own path aligns me with the protection of our lady, and, to a lesser extent - the study and the understanding of the natural world."
Following you to sit down in the open aired kitchen of the lower fortress, he indicates to one of the men, and soon food and drink is provided.
The meal of the day - large meals provided quickly and in bulk for the citizens - is a savory stew of roasted elk meat, roots, onions, spices and salt and pepper. Black bread and cream is available, as well as apples - hard cider besides is portioned out to drink - as well as mead for those who wish it.
Adjt contents himself with a plate of meat - lightly cooked, near bloody, and no vegetables. He drinks sparingly of the mead, and you observe he eats with cutlery - no claws and fingers for him.
Further, before he brakes bread, he takes a moment to pause and give thanks quietly and briefly.
The language is Celestial, and he is intoning Apsu - who he names as Father and Patron of his clan. The prayer is brief and humble. after he finishes, he turns to you and begins his breakfest, pausing now and then to talk to you directly.
"Each of us has but one destiny - so it is written. For my brethern, we are all given to different paths. Our clan chief - and captain - he is a holy knight for our lord Apsu. You may have already met with my kinsmen, Glaidus, a warrior - though somewhat more rough then the civility practiced by my captain; and Ryul - another warrior, well spoken, quiet, and more accustomed to the wilderness then the battlefield. My other kinsmen perished after we swore the oath to protect our lady," he adds, slicing thin strips of meat with the knife and eating them quietly, pausing now and again to sip the mead.
"As I said - my path is to follow the study of lore and the way of the natural world. So, when a dwarven priest has newly arrived at our township, naturally - I was curious."
"You have the look of a hardy fighter besides being a priest - this is good. For I sense there is much trouble near us, even now..."
"The crater yonder - " he says, pausing to gesture at the former lake, now a valley filled with marshlands, weeds, and a meandering, oozing track of water - "Those who would govern these lands went on a sojourn within the crater. What they discovered unnerved them, for they presumed it would be filled with some form of animals to hunt or beasts to protect against. Though this is true, yes - they also encountered strange creatures of evil intention... These creatures are called ghouls - you know of them, no doubt - but unlike ordinary ghouls, these were able to swim and move through the water with some ease. Further - as you are no doubt a student on such lore - you would know that ghouls make their feasts on bodies of fresh victims. We have no such victims to feast upon, yet - no graveyards and tombs to raid, as it were - therefore, where should such creatures be able to come from? With no fresh meat for them to taste, where are they spawned, why do they come, and why have we not seen of them more recently? Where is their lair - and the collection of bodies that they feast upon, besides?"
He pauses, thinking on something, while picking absently at the meat. You have already observed that he possesses himself with a far greater dignity and level of courtesy then any kobold you have ever seen or heard of.
Clearly the metalic kobold seems more lordly, honorable, and majestic then his barbaric cousins - and you pause to consider this seems true with dragon-kind in general.
"Briefly thus - from the evidence that was reported to me - I believe that such attacks may become more frequent as the seaons continue to grow warmer. I believe that ghouls, and their ilk, will be seeking for - fresh meat? I believe they will be comming, for the grounds of the deep marsh are filled with both mystery and foulness. As the summer comes the land below will be filled with rot and disease associated with marsh vermin and other noxious swamp gases - never mind the fact that this town will be ever-growing."
He dabs his thin lips with a napkin, staring at you cooly - as if he is discussing rain or a field of flowers.
"There is something evil down there, I believe - and something that makes me think there are more then a few of these creatures - perhaps many more, perhaps many, many more..."
"Meanwhile, in this time of doubt here we suddenly discover you; a priest of a goddess who abhors such things. Further - you seem doughty and stern besides - and you are a dwarf; used to close-combat in the dark places of the realms beneath the land and sky. I do not know what your plans are, but I sense this much at least, for it is said I have been gifted with Second Sight - you are a being of honor; you will not move from a path that is appointed to you, if it is your destiny to walk upon it, though it may cost you your very life. So, take this knowledge for what it is worth and, if you are so inclined - make what plans you see best to begin such exploration to the lands below the surface of this swamp-mired lake. For I fear that very soon we shall need to attend to what abominations lurk beneath the earth there."
He has finished his breakfest, stands up, and bows slightly - and turns to leave and pauses, speaking to you over his shoulder.
"I enjoyed the meal - but I would not see such feasts for evil creatures as ghouls. Even as we build a city here, I am afraid we are not the only ones to seek to claim these land for ultimate dominion."
He waits a moment, if you have further questions - but if you do not, he will simply leave you to your cider.

I saw her only yesterday and she gave us tea and treats and she did not say a word to her condition. I hope our company did not overtax her." Ry looks concerned and contrite. "When she wakes, please pass on my well wishes to your mother."
Considering Ivy's terms, a nursemaid for Peaches and covering her personal expenses on this trip, they seemed fair and Ariarh nods her head in agreement. "Aye, I believe I can manage payment for both those things. Thank you." And extends her hand to shake on the deal.
Ry ponders how easily it had been to get Ivy onboard and wondered if Brett had already had a word with her about the trip to Oleg's. Either way, Ivy was coming along and that was fine by her.
"Ivy, I still have a few preparations of my own to undertake before we leave. I shall meet you at 2 o'clock." Ry smiles at the Holbyt female and waves to Peaches. She leaves the Banks' home and rides back up to the Fortress, Dior flying through the sky. She would grab a small bite to eat and see that Dior was fed, too, and then would find the others.

You are not sure, but you have a "hunch" that the following is the case -
1. Lily may not be as sick as Ivy let's on, it is a convient way for her to avoid waking her mom and then spilling the beans about her plans on going on a week long "vacation" from babysitting duty, out on the road, and spending time with friends.
2. Whether Brett already spoke to her or not, you don't actually know - but you have a sense she has her own ideas and plans on spending time with him, no matter what his personal thoughts are.
Ivy shakes your hand warmly at the deal and you see her face light up with pleasure.
"No problem, Miss Kane! I'll get my kit packed right and true. Will we be walking, taking horses, or a cart?" she asks quickly.
"Never mind - I'll be ready any way you need," she adds hastily, then waves once, shuts the door before you can say "no", and rushes off to do what she needs to do.
Dior saunters around, looking at you, wondering what other errands you have on your list next...

"I do believe we'll be riding, Ivy. Unless the others are thinking of transporting items to Oleg's, I do not believe the cart will be necessary."

Kolgrym fills a deep bowl with stew and claims a hunk of bread, as well as a mug of cider, and joins the kobold. The dwarf eats as he lets Adjt speak, and by the time the kobold has shared all he has to say the bowl of stew is empty. "Your lord Apsu teaches his followers well; that all beings have a destiny to fulfill is a believe shared by the servants of my mistress, and the pursuit of that destiny is truly a blessed journey. I wish you and your fellows the best in achieving your respective fates."
The dwarf stands with Adjt, and takes his cider to drink as he walks with the kobold to the fortress' gates. "I came here to investigate rumors of the walking dead plaguing this region. The reports I heard were clearly exaggerated, but your words confirm they were not entirely false. I'm afraid this is more often true than not; the presence of these aquatic ghouls is very troubling. As you say, for such creatures to congregate in a region lacking the flesh they crave is unusual."
As the two near the gate, Kolgrym return the bow Adjt offered to him in the kitchen. "I thank you for bringing this news to me. I will certainly investigate the matter. I understand this fortress houses other servants of the divine; perhaps they will be able to provided further insight. In any case, I hope to have the chance to speak with you again soon. May Pharasma smile upon you."
Kolgrym remains at the gate until he looses sight of the kobold. Emptying his mug, the dwarf returns to the kitchen and leaves it with the empty bowl. He then sets out in search of the priest he was told about the previous day.

Are Ry and Kae going to run into each other down at the old fishing village?
Theoretically - yes. But this depends largely on where you go, and where Kae goes. No doubt you are close by - as the Banks' live two blocks over from Grishnak, and you just left the Banks' house (remember, also, they live next door to the Grears).
The question is - where do you go next? And - what does Kae do next?

Asking a few of the lads who are working in the open aired kitchen for guidence to the priest called Khrovin, you are directed to the upper levels and move to find him.
However, your path leads you back to the same council room that housed the "trial" of Grishnak which you had heard earlier. Inside you hear some loud voices and a bit of a heated conversation.
Pausing outside you are uncertain as what you should do. But, before you can properly decide, the decision is answered.
The door to the room swings open and out of the room is the very priest you have meant to interview. He looks grim and worried - behind him, walking swiflty, is another man wearing heavy armor and a stern expression. Behind them all is the flustered form of the young man that you have been told is the lord of this land.
Despite this expression he is moving forward with some action to follow the others, making suggestions and offering words of encouragement or praise.
Turning with confusion, you follow them all - though with a discreet distance and manage to overhear some of what is going on, though you don't try to eavesdrop - they are by no means being silent about it.
It appears that the priest of this place had a former master - a high priest who has suffered a great tradgedy of some sort. He is now being hunted or persecuted by members of his faith - the details and particulars are not clear on this point.
The priest of this land - one "Father Khrovin" is now leaving instanlty - pledged to follow and find his old master and friend, and do what he can to lend him any aid.
The martial fellow - a knight, if you are not mistaken - has volunteered to journey with Khrovin. This knight, called Sir Bronwyn - has been asked to follow Khrovin - to gaurd him and protect him on this noble quest.
You wait back, not wishing to intrude on this matter further. You are clear that the issue is both grave and dangerous.
Khrovin is even now heading quickly down the stairs, the lord of this place - Alaric - touches Sir Bronwyn, and the stern knight turns to observe him.
"Your quest has many dangers, this is true - you will need to be well equipped, my adopted brother - I will do what I can to aid you on this matter," Alaric says kindly, though his face is troubled.
"Take this letter to the gaurds at the treasury - withdraw from it your part of the valueables that you find there. I know that between you that you should have roughly 8,000 Gold Pieces for I recall neither of you spending any hard coin to aid yourself in the recent troubles - "
"My lord, both I and father Khrovin have spent of that coin..." Sir Bronwyn begins.
"Nonsense!" Alaric responds quickly.
"Further, our treasury has expanded heavily. We have made much wealth recently with the Osirion - therefore, the 8,000 gold pieces is far too little. Instead, I shall offer to you the correct value - for the contract you have both signed must force my hand!"
"But..."
"Stop, I shan't hear of it! The contract alone binds me, if not my love for you, my adopted kinsmen, and the knowledge in that ooin is all I have to offer you both on this quest," he adds.
Pausing a moment, Alaric considers something.
"Though there was 48,000 gold in our treasurey to begin with - the raw value of our collected items which we took from that damnable Djinn was... " he pauses a moment, recalling the appraisal of these goods "72,800 gold pieces, a high sum! I reserve only the rug and the fruit from this collection, of course - but means our treasury holds 120,000 gold pieces in wealth!" he adds.
"Your sixth of that is 20,000. I insist that you take that each, for it is your legal right, as bound to you by the contract we have signed," Alaric says stiffly, trying to maintain dignity in the presence of others at the loss of his friends.
"Your pardon, lord - I cannot take such wealth - for even if I was so motivated - I would not take such items in my possesion. They are against my creed, and shall no doubt upset the sensibilities of the priest, for he is alinged to our patron and it is likely that the Lord Erestil will be unhappy with us using such things in battle," Sir Bronwyn offers stiffly.
"Of course, of course," Alaric says courteously, keeping the smile on his face.
"Therefore - take only the raw gold in the treasury. I and the rest of the people here - we will no doubt find the value of things in time, and through propper rendering of the things into their alchemical compounds."
"But, lord - if you keep these things, then you possess foul evil as well - yet if you sell them you encourage the spread of evil. I shan't hear of such things - I cannot let you destroy yourself for us."
"Nonsense," Alaric says bravely "I can always render these things down for their basic chelmical compounds - making them completely safe, and giving us the value of the merchandise in coin," he adds.
"Perhaps... " Bronwyn says, thinking on this.
"My friend, trust me. After all - my knowledge in the arcane tells me that I am sure this can be done," Alaric responds with a forced jovility.
Kolgrym, you are no mean thinker - it is clear this lord Alaric is offering a false statement to his comrade. Breaking a magical sword into loose metal does not mean each shard of metal sold piece by piece will equal the value of the sword! Cleary he is trying to placate the knight by assuring him that everything that can be done is going to be done.
Yet you see Bronwyn wavering under this argument. The coin could help he and Khrovin tremendously on their journey and it seems like they will need all the help they can get.
"Lord, you say this as if we shall not return - " Bronwyn responds "but we shall, no doubt. Therefore, keep half of our wealth here - for us, for the town to use. We shall return for it one day, no doubt," he says cordially.
"No! You may return, and I do pray for it, but meanwhile, I shall remove you both from the Charter, for now, if you voluntarily go on this quest - for you cannot be both councilmen and men on private adventures, no matter how true and honorable they may be. But, when you return, then I shall reinstate you directly. But, you do raise a true point. Very well - I shall only give to you ten thousand in raw gold - and to Khrovin I shall grant the full 20,000. The rest I shall invest here, for your safe return," he offers.
"Very well, lord; as you say it," Bronwyn says stiffly.
He turns and leaves, and you percieve that your chance to speak to this "Father Khrovin" may have suddenly evaporated as this priest is now leaving with the man named Sir Bronwyn. You also mentally calculate that they are taking 30,000 gold pieces in raw gold and have left the treasuery with a mere 18,000 gold pieces, provided, of course, the Council or town has not already spent at least 18,000!
Of the following "Treasure" they have in their vault - they have 72,800 gold pieces - in assorted goods - but from what you overheard, these goods are largely worthless to this town - unless they are sold to others. But, by the words of this knight - if the town sells these goods to recoup their losses and gather more coin - then they will surely be promoting evil! At least, you think so - as you do not know fully what these items are, but believe them to be unsavory.
You are somewhat confused, then, by this quick back and forth.
On the one hand you are shocked to know that while they store potentiall harmful goods that have value as a trade commodity in their vault, they do not destroy them because - even now - their council sees these goods as things to sell and therefore valuable, despite their inherrent dangers.
On the other hand, you can see this is not lost on either man, and that they are both unhappy with these items. But as there seems to be a formal contract between these men, you see that the lord of these lands is both committed to honoring the contract - and even more committed to the protection of his friends.
Even if following the contract and helping his friends has now left his growing kingdom nearly bankrupt - except for the ready sale of objects which may, or may not, be evil in nature. You have no doubt these objects can be destroyed, but if they are destroyed, and not sold - it will leave the kingdom with no real wealth whatsoever.
Still, you muse... you do admire the value of this man's integrity.
Pausing, you consider your next option. Talking to the priest, if he is truly to leave this land for his quest seems almost unnecessary - perhaps you may have words with this lord Alaric, though he seems somewhat distraught at this time, even as the knight bows and turns swiftly on the errand set before him.
You consider, then, your next option...

Ka'etil Malas'rae |

Ka'etil leans forward and extends his hand to Grishnak, shaking it. "Well, my friend, I look forward to our future dealings, and will be back after I've returned from my current venture." Kae drinks again from the mug, wondering what exactly it was, hoping it's not too strong a drink. "Till then," he says setting down his drink and rising to leave.
After leaving he gets the idea to go to see the Grears. Selendria, he recalls is a skilled alchemist, and after his time working in the lab, suddenly much of Lencher's books made more sense, but he wanted to be able to take a moment to discuss his theories with someone more experienced. Using a combination of chemicals from the lab that were left over and his not insubstantial magical reservoir he thinks he'd be able to emulate various spells, and perhaps even strengthen the body.
He strolls along quickly beside Konur, forcing the Horse into a trot to keep up, and makes for the Grear's place. after getting himself out of the block of tents, he looks himself over. Disleased by the lingering scent of refuse, he thinks to prestidigitate the smell of the tent city away and the alcohol off his breath. He takes off his work cloak, putting it into his saddle-bags and cleans off his armor, and slicks his hair back, magically holding it in place with a simple conjured band.
He shall then continue along knocking on the Grear's door when he arrives.
What time is it in game now?

Grishnak gives you a grin that looks almost like a leer, eager for the potential of good customers and clients - even, and especially - good patrons!
Meanwhile you arrive outside of the Grears (who live right next to the Banks') and see, comming out of there home the figure of Ariarh.
It is now - roughly 10:30 AM.

He listens, rapt to her response until she takes a pause then excitedly motions to the Grear house. With a lightness in her voice, Ariarh responds, "Good Morning, Kae." It was good crossing paths with her barbarian friend. "I am well but it has been a busy morning thus far." She pauses, then continues. "Aye. Brett found me after my prayers and told me of your plans. I will be riding with you. I just talked to Ivy Banks and she has agreed to join us. I thought with this Osirion Amun on the loose, it would make sense to bring along backup. Will you be hiring anyone to ride with us? I would see us coordinated in our preparations."
Moments after listening to Kae's rapid explanation in multiple tongues (which Ariarh found amusing), Ry absorbs the implications of Kae's theory, finding she has some concerns, "This isn't dangerous, is it? I only know the basics when it comes to alchemy but to manipulate one's system thusly makes me think there could be consequences." Ry goes quiet as she ponders her new fears and concerns. "Would you mind if I joined you at the Grear's? I had wanted to speak with Selendria a little before we left anyway. And you are right, she is the most knowledgeable potion maker in town. I would hear what she has to say on this matter." Ry looks expectantly at the half-elf, the sapphire gaze alight with unspoken words, concern, anxiety and curiosity.

Walking down the path is a young girl - you both instantly recognize her as Sarah Ironhorse. Seeing you, she smiles and comes over to say hi.
While you notice she is smiling, there is some strange look on her face that makes you suspicious of something.
"Hello - how are you today Councilman, Councilwoman?" she asks politely, but you sense she is almost eager for your rebuttle, and, after a moment, when she is asked how she is doing, she jumps on the chance to answer.
"Well, that's a fairly interesting question, if I do say so," she says.
"It seems I may have underestimated my value to this town," she adds, looking at you both wryly and with a somewhat sardonic gleam to her eye.
"I was walking about, looking for Chris - I think he and Billy were out gettng into trouble, no doubt - when who do you suppose I bumped into? Why, a Mister DeVille."
"He was out for a morning stroll, or so he said - and happened to notice me. Came by to talk small and offered to take me to tea sometime - said he thought I looked very bright and wondered if I was looking for work."
"Well, I don't have to tell you my answer to that, but then he acted very contrite and apologized, saying I completely misunderstood his intentions - that he was looking for a discreet young lady with some ammount of knowledge and skill with medicinal herbs and, er... understanding the nuances of healing - to keep an eye on his performers."
She leans in somewhat - sharing rumors seems to intrigue her - and she continues after a dramatic pause, her voice a hushed whisper.
"It seems that some of his performers often contract issues related to - shall we say - women's troubles, if you know what I mean? There are many types of sicknesses that can be contracted with certain activities, and he wants to make sure both his performers and his clients have no such troubles - if you understand me?"
She leans back, thinking and almost talking to herself.
"I suppose that being a young lady who needs such - examinations - why - it can be very difficult to submit to a man - examing you in such a way, I'd think... but if it was a woman who did it? Why, it may not be as, well - uncomfortable? Anyhow - the money he offered is very good, and we could use the money badly. There's so little work for us here, right now."
She looks up at you with relief, though.
"Well, the best part is that I don't really need to decide right now either way. After all - the town's treasury is filled to the brim with coins. So, we won't be having problems like our town running out of cash - or worse; the need for your lords to levvy harsh taxes on us. Yes indeed - we should have lots of money to last us at least until next year - provided everyone is prudent and very careful," she says the last with a nod of satisfaction.
"Anyway - thank you for listening to me. I'll be on my way now, I still need to find Chris! Mister Kae, if you happen to run into him at Otter's - well, dad'll just beat him to a pulp if he went in there - he knows better! Those folk may roll him, and he doesn't have the coin - never mind the fact that his being there ain't respectable, as it were. But anyway, if you head by there and see him - please tell him I'm looking for him, and he better not be there, or he'll catch it hot when he gets home!"
She adds the last with a wave and a grin, and goes running off.

Shaezon’s Welcome
The day is somewhat crisp and there is a veritable tang in the air as you wander over the fords of a wide river. You know that, on the eastern bank of the river, if you travel far south enough – you will find the beginnings of a new village or town.
This place, this wild untamed wilderness – it has been home to bandits, rogues, villains, fell creatures and worse. Further, you have heard rumors that the few honest men who made their way through the wilderness were nothing more then trappers, hunters, and an occasional nomad seeking northern civilization.
But not any more…
Last autumn the chief of the bandits in this area had been defeated in a massive skirmish between a group of men and women who had taken up the gauntlet to liberate this place from such villainy. With the bandits vanquished, there is no uncontested space for a person to make a home, grow crops and create a family. Even now, you understand that is what is happening here.
You also understand the heavy rumors of Fey creatures living in the north of these lands, as well as strange happenings connected to ancient civilizations. You are not sure of these stories or connections, but would like to know more of them.
Moving faster, you now are traveling quickly south – for your understanding is that the primary village should only be a few miles further as long as you keep the river to your right. Soon, you come over a low set of hills and see in the distance a sprawling set of low cliffs flanking a large crater-like valley. To the north of this valley is what looks like a village or small town.
This must be your destination!
Moving forward, you sense you are less then three miles from the town when a group of outriders come riding up. They see your presence, and ignore you, continuing their fast advance, tacking their course to a westerly direction.
As you grow closer to the town you are now, perhaps – roughly a mile from it. You sense a presence behind you, and you see a man and a boy – wait, no, not a boy, but a Halfling. The man is walking and leading a small horse with a large elk over its back. The Halfling is trotting well on a sturdy pony, munching an apple.
The two of them see you, and they move over to you. This interest in you seems to be simple curiosity as well as genuine friendliness.
The man is rough in clothing, but he seems nice enough, while the Halfling strikes you as a bit grim – though right now he is chuckling about some joke made by the human. As they reach you, the human waves and calls out –
His accent is flawless and you are surprised, for it sounds as if he is using a dialect from your homeland. The Halfling says nothing, but continues to munch, watching you with no expression in his eyes.
”I’m David – and this is my friend Tucker,” the human adds, pointing to the Halfling ”And who may you be?”

Shaezon Silverfall |

The elf is robed in thigh length robe with travel leathers and high soft leather boots. His clothing is obviously elven make. As you get closer you notice his flowing hair is not white as you thought, but silver as mythrill. As he walks up to greet you you see his iris' match.
"Hail, friend. I am Shaezon Silverfall emissary of Kyorin." he bows graciously, but not too deeply. "I seek he who would claim these lands. Can you assist in this?" he asks politely, but very directly

"Hail, friend. I am Shaezon Silverfall emissary of Kyorin." he bows graciously, but not too deeply. "I seek he who would claim these lands. Can you assist in this?" he asks politely, but very directly
"Well, that's a bit of a complex question," the Halfling says, tossing away the applecore, now that he is done.
"Of course - there are many who would claim these lands - you could walk down the turf yonder and find quite a few. But as for those that did it? Well, they already done it, if you take my meaning?" he adds liesurely, pulling out a chunk of tobacco and cutting himself off a quid, which he fits into his mouth and begins to chew.
"No doubt the good elf is merely being polite and wants to be introduced to those who now govern this land," David says, turning to the Halfling named Tucker, who is now munching lustily on his tobacco quid.
"Well - friend, it's nice meeting you. We're on the way home, just finished a spot of hunting... Not much growing here yet, no crops and such - most of what we eat we either gather or catch. But, we're growing things soon as we can. Anyway, We'll see to it in a while, I should think - farms and such," he says the last hopefully, though you catch a touch of sorrow in his voice, as if he is sad to see farms and civilization dominating the wilderness.
"But, if you're looking for the bosses - why, there are several who govern this place. They have some sort of council, of sorts - and they're no doubt all over the place. Just ask around, see if anyone's seen of member of "The Council" - they'll steer you in the right direction. In fact," he adds the last, as if the thought just occurred to him "My wife was going to meet with one of the Councilwomen today - Councilwoman Kane - that's her name - My wife is over down that street there - " he says, indicating to a series of small houses that you can barely distinguish.
"We're The Grear gamily - Selendria's my wife, our house is right up next to a Holbyt house - that be the Banks' home here - Tucker's family, they're our neighbors - anyhow, if you meet with Selendria, she'll probably be able to tell you where to find at least Councilwoman Kane, and as for the others, they may be up in the fortress. But that's about eight more miles from here, and a bit of a walk. My kin'll set you straight, no fear - and tell them I said to fix you a drink or a bite - you look you've traveled long, and it's the least we can do to help out a new neighbor," he adds.
His voice, when he speaks the Common tongues of men is somewhat rough and un-tutored, but you sense he has a good heart and kind demeanor. However, his companion is more cautious, and more suspicious.
"Well, that'll be enough, I should think," Tucker breaks in with a curt voice - not rude, but enough to suggest he seems to think it is unwise to be so open with a newcommer that they hardly know, even though the human seems somewhat unintrested in this precaution.
"Well, we're heading along there anyway - if you want to tag along, why not? If I'm not mistaken, you'll see our kin, and you'll run into some decent folks besides - especially if you're looking for anyone who serves on the Council," Tucker continues, looking you over.
Sighing, he seems to remember his manners.
"It's a fair day, but a bit chill - you hungry, thirsty? Not much to offer now but apples to eat - but they make a fine breakfest on the go, as it were," he adds, offering you a small satchel stuffed with apples.
By the way, is your Familiar Visible? And if so - can you describe him?

Another thing to worry over. It seems building a kingdom is one worry after another, Ry silently muses.
"Sarah, it is good that you have been offered employment by Mister DeVille." Sarah and she were close in age and even though Ry was the younger by three years, she felt compelled to caution the Ironhorse lass. "Please be careful, however. Mister DeVille's business sees many kinds come and go from his premises. I agree, the performers and the clientele must be protected, and if a healer is necessary, then I do not begrudge it. But, be mindful, and I ask this of you with good intentions, if things are awry in that place or the health issues grow out of hand, I would like to be informed. There is someone in DeVille's employ I have recently become acquainted with and I would not see harm befall her or the other girls. Will you be able to do that for me, Sarah?"

Thinking on the girl's idea about the financial strength and condition of their growing town, another worry tugs at her peace of mind.
"And Sarah, even though our town is growing and expanding both in residence and business establishments, this does not mean we should stop being prudent with our coin. Wealth is not guaranteed and we must be economical. It will see us in good stead for the future."

Another thing to worry over. It seems building a kingdom is one worry after another, Ry silently muses.

She nods and smiles somewhat as she moves off.
"No worries, Councilwoman," she says "I didn't say I'd take the job - but I didn't turn it down - just said I'd consider it," she says, responding.
"Still, you're right - being mindful of wealth is very important, - though I hear we're doing fairly well! Well, I got to go - I'm off to find Chris!" she calls out, rushing off.
Even as you move to the Grear's home you hear singing... It is both fair and beautiful, and as you turned an excited eye to see what there is to witness - you observe that a group of ladies is walking down the streets and singing some religions songs dedicated to Erestil. They pause at various places, sing a moment - then move on.
You recognize a few of the ladies from Goodwyfe's Committe for Moral Behavior, but before you can roll your eyes in disgust, you notice there are other women singing as well - they seem to be a small choir - whether or not they are directly linked to Goodwyfe's Committe, or if they happen to have "Moral and Upright Citizens" in the choir, as well as other independent people - you are sure you don't know.
But their voices are pretty, and their singing is good, and a crowd of people is gathering to listen, even as the women pause across the street to sing a pleasent melody.
You and Kae listen a moment, and consider simply going in and ignoring the singers, seeking out Selendria directly - or perhaps staying a moment or two to let them finish and see what this is all about...

"Good luck!" Ry calls to Sarah as she rushes off in search of her brother.
The songs were lovely and Ariarh wondered when this choral group had formed. With so much happening concurrently, their Council could not keep up with all the new developments in town. The thought made Ariarh sad and certainly concerned. It was their responsibility to reasonably know every aspect of their community, in order to govern, nurture and protect effectively. Ry sighs, quietly, but audibly enough for someone near her to hear the expelled sound.
Ariarh notices a few of Hester Goodwyfe's Committee. It was not easy keeping her expression neutral when thinking of the bigoted woman and her bevy of followers. The women were not evil, just somewhat ignorant or fair game for someone with the voice and clout of Ms. Goodwyfe. Ariarh was not Grishnak's greatest supporter but believed that there had to be legitimate grounds in which to evict someone from their land and not because of their race, general unpleasantness or smell. That kind of thing would set a nasty precedent and could lead to elitist ideals and a segregation of classes. Then they would be no different from other towns and cities.
Turning to Kae, she quietly speaks, "I would like to listen until they finish their song. I'd like to find out more about this group. If you want to go in, gesturing to the Grear's house, then I shall see you inside, soon."
Once the group completes their song, Ariarh moves toward their circle, closer to one of the more matronly ladies standing to the side. "Please excuse the intrusion. I am Councilwoman Kane and I am wondering how long your choir has been performing like this? The singing, of course, is most lovely, and such a dedication to the good Erastil. Who is in charge of this choral group?" Ariarh smiles warmly at the woman, hoping to instill ease and goodwill through her voice and manner.

The woman, after they have finished, bow and wave somewhat. Many people clap, and some people offer coins for the song - and you wonder why. When the women finish, and you approach them, they turn to a lady among them.
You notice that they are all about late teens to early twenties, but the leader seems to be nearly thirty years old - maybe.
She seems like a shorter human who is somewhat plump, with a cheerful face, and what seems what looks like a jolly gleam in her eyes.
"Hello, I am Colleen Rourke," she says politely, and you recognize the strains of a Brevoyian accent, as she curtsies a bit to you.
"Very pleased to meet you, Miss Kane," she adds "these young ladies are part of a small choir - we are dedicated to the lord Erestil. We offer our songs to honor the noble god of these lands - for it is not true he is our chosen patron? And, if the people are pleased, we collect money, and then distribute it to the poor - today we have collected nearly thirty-seven gold pieces," she adds proudly.
Though she doesn't wax on as much as Hester Goodwyfe, you are able to believe that she is quite sincere with her efforts and motivations. You also suspect that her followers believe in the cause of doing good and charitable works for the community at large - not unsurprising, given the nature of Erestil - and that even though some of them are aligned to Hester - you gauge that Hester is only so succesful because she has encouraged people who are eager to help to join her cause.
This is promising, then - because it suggests to you that not all of this Goodwyfe's "Committe" are dedicated to the need to be so intolerant. Many of them may have joined the Committe because they believe it will actually provide a stable community with good intentions.
In either case, the choir seems very happy with their efforts, and is now moving to continue their songs.
You quickly learn that they do this once a week - the practice has started roughly three weeks ago - and they take the coins, collect them, and then donate them to specific causes around the town. For example - last week they donated 100 gold pieces - which had been collected the first three weeks of their organization's creation - to the beautification of the Shrine.
Though this is not a great ammount of coin - in the long run - it has allowed them to pay for some minor work on the Shrine, such as some better plastering for the roof, and nicer flowers in the shrine, as well as better finished stonework.
Even as you digest this, they wave once and continue down the streets.

Ariarh waves after the women now moving away from her and she turns on her heel and walks to the Grear's door and knocks twice. I will let Alaric and the others know of the good works performed by Colleen Rourke's choir, Ariarh notes silently. And, mayhap, not every person involved with Hester Goodwyfe is arrogant or ignorant. Having a stable community (and provided through good intentions and acts) is necessary.

Leaving the keep, Kolgrym marches toward Saraville, keeping his eyes open for Adjt or any of the kobold's silver-scaled kin as he approaches the town.

"That's very kind of you. I will follow with you if you don't mind." In a slightly different tone of voice "Don't be startled by this. All is well." Looking toward the nearby bushes Shaezon calls out "Mister, You can come out now." With a russle of the bushes a small green and purple dragon-like creaature emerges and rushes to rest across Shaezon's shoulders. It's long neck sinues up and regards the pair. "This is my familiar. his name is Mister. He's friendly, but wary of strangers."
"At your lead." Shaezon says as he motions for the two men to lead the way.

You see human's eye quirk in some mild form of surprise, but he takes it well. The Halfling says nothing, and continues to chew on his quid.
Soon you are all riding to the village propper. In time you pass by some lovely houses, but then the roads lead you past another set of homes that look far more run-down and ram-shackle like. These homes strike you as something out of a mining camp in the middle of some sort of backwater colony in the middle of nowhere. Further - they seem almost out of place from the other houses, which look well made and seem to be rather nicely constructed and neat and tidy.
Even as you arrive you see standing near some houses a small group of people - one of them is a young woman with plantinum blonde hair, and another is a towering barbaric looking half-elf. They are conversing rather pleasently with some young women who are dressed in rather plain and drab clothing.
"Oye! Councilwoman Kane," the man named David suddenly calls out "Afternoon! Me and Tucker just got back from hunting, you want to grab a bite to eat?"
Shaezon, you see that the barbarian and woman now regard you, and the other young ladies in plain attire have moved on quickly and are advancing to somewhere around the corner.
As the idea of a fresh lunch sounds appealing, and you have not eaten solid since breakfest, except, perhaps, for an apple or so - you are welcome to step inside and meet these new people.
Meanwhile, the thought of exploring other parts of the town seem best for another time - despite the notable reputation here, you have just walked past a part of town filled with many unsavory looking folk who have eyed you from the corner's of their shacks and tents, as if you may be easy prey for their nimble fingers - or worse!
Yes, lunch with the family of your new friends, as well as the chance to chat with potential pillars of this community - this all seems both good and noble.

Taking some moments, even as the song continues and nears completion, you see the door open and Selendria is standing there.
As always, the young elven woman looks radiant as ever, and favors you with a friendly smile. In her arms is her youngest - the little girl with hand-made, cloth troll-doll - Delian, who is sleeping.
She motions you to come in, but be quiet, as she doesn't want to wake her child. Then thinking better of it - she indicates with signs and gestures that she would prefer you to wait on the doorstep a moment while she puts her child back the cradle.
Even as you stand there patiently, you hear the sound of David - who you know to be her husband. Turning, you see him, Tucker the Halfilng, and a strange elf with a long, silverly scarf-like thing that looks like it is some sort of dragon.
Wait! You're wrong - it is a dragon - though not a tiny one, or a hatchling. This creature looks simply like a strange miniture dragon, with a long barbed tail and a cunning, though pleasent, expresion on his tiny face.
The robed elf, the man, and the Halfling have all moved up.
What do you do now?

Taking some time, you eventually reach the northern edge of the valley, and are now inside the village propper. Not sure where to go, or what to do, you are suddenly aware of singing!
Following the song, you turn the corner and observe two councilmembers standing on the street chatting with some vilalgers. With little to do, and very few friends in the town, you move closer to them so that you can chat some more with people you have met - and hopefully gain better insight with what has recently happened with two formal members of the council.
Also, it occurs to you - though perhaps it isn't your business (then again...) - how will the village function if the majority of the new colony's treasurey is tied up in "cursed" or "evil" magical items.
As a priest, this strikes you as somewhat offenseive - but unlike the formal lord of these lands, these councilmembers seem more open to light-hearted chit-chat. You supsect that having a frank and open discussion with them will reveal much; including what will happen next with this town.

Mister the pseudodragon was actually described as green and purple. Though I think I'll give him some minor color change abilities. Nothing mechancial, but just for fun. When he's on Shaezon's shoulders he'll inflect himself silver to match with Shaezon's hair. Shaezon's unusual coloration is part of what originally attracted Mister to Shaezon.

"What is your friend's name?" Ry gestures toward the dragon-like creature now observing her intently. "This is my griffon, Dior. Don't mind him, he will not hurt you."
Knowledge Nature check on Shaezon's tiny dragon: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
"It's a pleasure to meet you Councilman Ka'etil." Shaezon says as he nods to the new arrival. "The mayor's. Interesting. I've always been curious about non-elven governments. Similar in many ways nod doubt, save that elves measure generations across a much longer span of time." He muses as then his thoughts shift back to topic."I would be happy to wait for your business to conclude. I suspect I will be here for a great deal of time. I hope to earn your friendship and show you the value of my council. Perhaps in time our kingdoms will be powerful allies."
In response to the inquiry about Mister. "This is Mister. He is my familiar, but he is quite intelligent..." Mister interrupts Shaezon by craning his head around to look him in the eye. Misters coloring darkens a bit at this. Shaezon chuckles slightly despite himself. He continues"...and fierce. He is intelligent and fierce." Mister purrs his delight at the statement and resumes his bright coloring. "He's friendly unless he has a reason to be otherwise."
Looking to Mister and saying in a jovial manner. "Go make friends. Get some exercise. We don't want you getting too fat. It'll slow you predatory reactions." Mister raises an eyebrow arch then his eyebrows raise as his long neck turns to regard Dior. He hops off Shaezon's shoulders and glides down a few feet away from Dior. His coloring turns brownish with green accents as he regards the Griffin. After a moment Mister hops a bit to indicate he wants to play. If Dior seems amiable he will dart in and take some playful nips.
"Out of curiosity how did you come to the name Saravale?"

Ka'etil Malas'rae |

As Selendria re-enters the house, Ka'etil turns to face the new-comer, closing the door over so the sound does not rouse the child.
Stepping forward he extends a scarred hand to the elf as Ariarh introduces him. He smiles and asks, "To what sort if intrests are you refering...Shaezon, is it?" with a bright smile. "What sort of attention have we attracted from your people?"
The half-elf stands at 6'9" dark hair pulled back and held magically in place. He wears fine wooden armor with elvish craftsmanship, and markings consistant with the forest-dwellers north in the forest, tradional and antequated. He leans in close, draconic slitted eyes shining bright turquoise, as he smiles at Mister, "And where'd you find this little fellow?"

"It's good to meet you as well, Mister." Ariarh respectfully nods her head toward the tiny dragon creature.
Ariarh admired the manner in which Shaezon treated his familiar. There was a sense of teasing that comes with deep bonds. Ry smiles at the interplay and looks down to see Dior's reaction to the tiny Mister. The griffon fluffs his feathers and tilts his head to the side examining the curious and playful tiny dragon. "'Tis alright, my protector. If you would rather play than stay here whilst we converse then do so. I will be safe. Get to know your new friend." Ry nods her head in encouragement, curious about Mister herself, especially the stinger at the end of his tail. She was sure Dior would handle himself well enough and the tiny Mister would not try to sting him. Ry bends down and lovingly scratches the feathers atop her griffon's head.
Turning her attention back to the Elvish emissary, she smiles and responds to his question about the town's name. "The baron of this land, Lord Winter, made a promise to me when we first became acquainted and started this quest. As a little girl, I had a friend, akin to a sister. Her name was Saarah." The hurt when recounting the story was diminishing slightly because Ariarh felt right having her beloved friend's memory honoured thusly. "Her young life was brutally ended and her bravery during the ordeal has bolstered my own determination and resilience. We hope this town will espouse good virtues and be a new start for those who settle and cultivate the land. Lord Winter kept his promise when we became owners of the Keep and the land that once belonged to the tyrant Stag Lord. And so, Saravale came to be." Ariarh's sapphire eyes were bright and kept their attention on Shaezon Silverfall.

Stepping forward he extends a scarred hand to the elf as Ariarh introduces him. He smiles and asks, "To what sort if intrests are you refering...Shaezon, is it?" with a bright smile. "What sort of attention have we attracted from your people?"
"Simply put you seem to be building a fledgling nation. Humans tend to do such things very quickly. In a few hundred years this place could rival any number of powerful nations. My people would like to offer their assistance in molding your fledgling nation into a nation your ancestors can be proud of. A good and noble nation. At present this assistance is in the form of my council. I can assist with balancing the need for farmlands while still preserving the many fey creatures that inhabit these lands, for example." WIth a smile an educators tone of voice Shaezon looks at the half elf and says"Elves take the long view of things. Sending one emissary to a assist a fledgling nation is preferable to fighting a war over something petty with that nation in a few hundred years later."

Mister scowls his disapproval for a split second at the term "little," but quickly regains his joy as he bats at Dior and leaps into the sky. The two creatures somersaulting in flight playfully. "He found me actually as such creatures will." Leaning in and whispering, though loud enough for all present to hear. "He's a bit sensitive about his size. He feels he should be larger as true dragons are. His personality is a cross between a housecoat and a mischievous child. Well intentioned, but the end result is often comically messy."

"Sad such a thing happened, but I am bolstered by the story's outcome. Good and virtue are admirable qualities of a ruling body." Changing his tone slightly "So their is a lord. I was momentarily under the impression that there was a council only. It is good for a land to have a council, but there are times when decisive action is necessary and only a proper lord would have the ability to take such action." He continues, " I am happy to talk at length, but didn't you have some business to take care of? I wouldn't want to keep you. Of course i am at your disposal if you wish my assistance."

"Indeed we have business to attend with the mistress of this home, Selendria Grear, a fine Elven alchemist from your homeland. I do believe David Grear invited you in for lunch as well, so you are welcome to join us."
"The Council is presently made up of the Lord Alaric Winter and his five councilmen. There will be opportunity for you to meet him and the others once we return to the Keep. Now, I think we've held up the Grear's long enough, they are probably waiting for us to join them inside." Craning her head, Ariarh looks into the blue sky and sees her griffon and Shaezon's little dragon contentedly playing. "I do believe our friends will be alright if we retire indoors. What say you, Shaezon Silverfall?"

"I'm sure they will be fine. Mister can take care of himself and he knows when to call for me. Some food would be lovely. I've had a long trip."
EDit: "Oh,..." He adds with a smile."...You may call me Shaezon."

Ka'etil Malas'rae |

"Well take care not to awaken the young one. She's sleeping" Ka'etil ways, whispering the last bit as he opens the door slowly, peaking in.
Poking his head through, he bows low, trying to keep quite as he asks, "M'lady, Selendria I've been doing some research recently and had some theories that I wanted to speak to you about, and perhaps some advice. I actually think I have gotten everything figured out, but would like you to look over my note, at least?" He holda a sheef of papers as he looks through the door to the lovely Elf lady. "And your husband seems to have invited us in for lunch."

"Thank you for letting us know." And as she enters the Grear household, Ry approaches Selendria with a warm, albeit discreet "Hello, Mistress Selendria."

Dain GM |

Entering the home of the Grear's you notice that it somewhat cluttered and messy interior. There are heaps of things everywhere - from childrens toys and piles of clothes - but also, there are small jars of components - there are strings of herbs and dried roots and vegetables. There are several mortar and pestle's - some of them clean, others filled with fine powders.
There is quite a mess all around, in fact. It looks like when David is gone, Selendria is not quite dedicated to the task of keeping a clean house. But then, with two little girls - this is not always an easy thing.
Selendria now comes out and gives her husband a warm embrace. You see that David is very physically demonstrative with his embrace with her - this is no hug and quick peck on the cheek. He kisses her hungrily; his face still dirty and scratchy, as he has not bathed from the hunt, nor shaved in a day or so. And his hands - which are rough with dirt, and some dried blood from the kill - they are not any less intent on roaming her body during the embrace.
When he pulls his lips from hers she lets out a bit of a gasp, her face flushed and her eyes half-closed, a large smile on her face. She turns away and he pats her roughly on her rump with affection
"We got company, wife," he says with a lusty growl.
"I'll take care all of my meat, inside and out," he says, lauging at her, even as she does, but then jerks out some chairs and slides them forward for Kae, Ariarh, and also Kolgrym, who has been brought inside quickly too, and the new lad Shaezon who has moved in to the house with the others. Then, he steps outside to deal with fresh killed elk and getting it cut up and readied for storage and such.
It seems clear that this elven woman - this Selendria - has spent much more time around humans then may be good for her!
However, she then goes about the business of preparing some lunch. Pushing the pile of cluttered plates aside from the counter she pulls out some fresh greans and vegetables and begins to dice them up quickly and toss them into a large clean bowl.
Putting that aside she leaves briefly for the parlor and returns with a large basket filled with two loaves of bread, a few chunks of cheeses still sweating milk, and a clay jar of honey, which she deposists on the table. Going back to the parlor again, she comes forward with a basket of apples, and there are two bottles which she lays on the table.
Going back again she comes back and lays a plate on the table - a lump of soft butter is resting on it, with a knife, and a pile of clean plates besides. She comes again and sets a large jug of hard cider on the table as well, and clay mugs.
Quickly she brings the bowl with the huge salad - the cheeses; bread and honey and butter, the fruit and cider - and then sets a kettle on the stove and begins to warm a pot of tea.
You feel somewhat cramped in the snug kitchen/dining room, but not in a bad way. Her place, though cluttered, is by no way dirty. She brings you all a large series of bowels filled with water and few fresh towels and such to wash with.
Even as you sit down at the table, she takes a moment to travel around you, serving you the meal neatly and efficently - you see in the large bottles are mulled wines, and the cider, though alcoholic - is ice cold.
As you all make yourselves comfortable around the table, Selendria is taking no precautions at this point at being quiet and soon the two little half-elf girls come running down the hall to see what the fuss is all about.
The elder one, Kali (seven years old) is wide-eyed and shakes the sleepiness from her expression quickly, at seeing so many people about.
The younger one, Delien (four), is fussing, and her mother picks her up into her arm, holding her as she moves around, making sure that her guests are attended to.
"Well, I'm quite pleased to see you all - and to meet new guests, as well," she says politely, though you can't help notice she seems a little more shy and somewhat reserved, occasionally giving Shaezon looks out of the corner of her eye - seeming to be somewhat uncomfortable around him.
In fact, it almost seems like she is either trying to ignore him, or to avoid him, but she has done nothing overt.
Soon, the tea kettle is piping and she pours out fresh tea for all that wish it. The song of the kettle must have alerted David from outside, who then swings open the door with a bang and a grin, heads toward a blarge bathing bucket and slops the rose scented washing water over his freshly blooded hands, cleaning himself and his face, then toweling off.
Grabbing the last chair, he plunks himself down in it and without any preamble, begins to eat quickly. When he has finished, Selendria has placed Delein in her raised chair by the table, and he grabs her playfully and swings her into his lap.
You see his emotion with her now, as she nestles up next to him, her head on his shoulder like a little girl, and it strikes you as somewhat odd. She seems happy that he is holding her, though, and eager to be held by him, as though she needs him to hold her, and publically. Yet, somehow, the entire scene doesn't sit right with you.
Before, his emotion and eagerness to see his wife seemed extremely genuine and sincere. But now, entering the room a second time, seeming able to think about things - it's almost like he is taking steps to be overly demonstrative with his movements, and his actions.
Having her put his toddler down so he could put her in his lap and snuggle during lunch and company? It's almost as if he is stating with his body language Yeah, this is my wife - an elven woman, and I'm a human! You got a problem with that?
He doesn't say that, but it does almost seem that way. Odd, too, that in all the months that Kae and Ariarh have seen them together, though they have been rather - affectionate - with their touching, they never did anything quite as obvious as this.
For some reason, it seems that they are both a little on edge about something, but you have no idea what it could be, nor do you have any idea what could possibly be causing it!
Or who, for that matter...

Ariarh Kane |

Witnessing David and Selendria's overt intimacy, Ariarh wonders if the cause is their new friend, Shaezon, but keeps the thought to herself. Interesting.
"A lovely fare you have put on, Mistress Selendria. Thank you for your generous hospitality."
Ariarh watches Delien in her raised chair, playing happily and occasionally picking up some of the cheeses or slices of apple placed before her.
"Selendria, we have acquired some interesting potions on our last adventure. They are rather potent from what we gather. If you have some time, I would like for you to look them over and advise us how best to handle or dispose of these potions." Nudging Kae with her elbow, wondering if he would speak some more about his idea or theory, Ry returns to silently eating her food and sipping her water (she opted for cool water in lieu of an alcoholic beverage).
