What!?! You bring me no tribute and you do not bow in my presence? But you have such nice things on you. They would make excellent tribute. Such other disrespect can be forgiven. She takes a moment to pause and then addresses Junchiro with a snear I have no master. If you want to talk about rightful owners you are trespassing in my domain. I should have your head. Consider this a kindness in offering you a chance to pay a tariff after such transgressions.

Ragnar your roll of 21 definately beats the DC 12. You take half damage which is soaked by the elemental resistance I believe.

Ceric Magics into better position on the dragon's back. I don't recall all of you having flight. Only Junchiro. Correct me if I am wrong. I will give you the benefit of doubt this round.

Awveyen misses with an arrow.

Ragnar hits with all his attacks.

The dragon activates it's frightful presence DC 20 WILL vs Fear. and withdraws from combat. taking safety on a rock wall almost 400 ft. away.

If no actions at stated it will burrow to safety and combat is over.

Junchiro you may change your actions if you wish.

Ceric shudders...I am normally not in favor of letting a powerful enemy escape to bite us at a later time. I could dimensional door us next to him and we can finish him off to be sure if we want

So if Junichiro moves next to me and Ragnar and next round I'd teleport us over there then Ragnar can continue his fight if he wants ..or we just let the creature escape. (Also withdrawing from being flanked is rather difficult for something that isn't medium sized or smaller without provoking from at least one of us. Only the first square you leave doesn't provoke, not that that matters if we just let it escape)

Junichiro knows Ceric can use dimensional door, and moves next to him.

Shall we persue?

But then sees that Ceric looks rather pale...

Are you all right, Ceric?

My "banner" ability would normally grant a +2 vs. fear to all who see it, but i forgot to state that I am wearing it, and to crawl aroun in tunnels with a bannerpole strapped to your back is a bit silly - and would not have made a difference anyway

CONCLUSION
The PCs have reached the end of the Sundered Path and
overlook the massive pagoda at its center. In this scenario’s
sequel, the PCs will enter the pagoda in an attempt to stop
the Aspis Consortium from solidifying their alliance with
the ratfolk of Round Mountain.

edited

Because of the specifics of how the Hao Jin Tapestry
works, the PCs are now far from their exit eddies, and unless they come up with creative methods of getting back to Absalom without needing to brave the Sundered
Path in both directions to get to the Pagoda of the Rat later, they are likely stuck here until they complete their mission. It’s entirely possible to rest here, so allow PCs to heal or otherwise remove conditions from themselves as normal, but PCs within Round Mountain can’t attempt a Day Job check; purchase or sell equipment or spellcasting; or spend prestige points to acquire equipment, purchase spellcasting services, or receive vanities. If a PC remaining within Round Mountain has outstanding conditions or unhealed damage at the conclusion of the scenario, be sure to denote her condition on her Chronicle sheet.
PCs who remain in the tapestry receives the Dogged
Adventurer boon on this Chronicle sheet, which will grant
them a special reward should they complete both parts of
The Rats of Round Mountain story arc consecutively, in
order, and without leaving the tapestry until the end of Part
II: Pagoda of the Rat. If a PC opts to leave the tapestry at the
end of this scenario, the GM should fill out her Chronicle
normally, but cross off the Dogged Adventurer boon.
If a PC who receives this boon is used to play through a different scenario between Part I: The Sundered Path and
Part II: Pagoda of the Rat, she forfeits any benefits the boon may provide at the end of the second scenario, and the GM should cross it off her Chronicle.

so what i need to know from you is are you pressing on to pt. 2 starting tomorrow.
or do you go back to absalom to lick your wounds?

Dogged Adventurer: You fought hard to reach the center of Round Mountain and the ratfolk pagoda located therein. Far from your means of exiting the Hao Jin Tapestry, you chose to continue with your mission, foregoing the chance to return to Absalom and the Material Plane to resupply or receive healing. If your next Chronicle sheet for this character is from Pathfinder Society Scenario #3–22: The Rats of Round Mountain, Part II: Pagoda of the Rat, you
may receive a special reward at the scenario’s conclusion.

After resting a bit you finally make your way towards the Pagoda of the Rat. Ornate bronze doors lead into an entrance hall. On either side, a pair of ten-foot-tall ratfolk statues beckon toward the north wall. There, a fresco depicts a female ratfolk stooped by age with dozens of smaller ratfolk huddled around her. Between her ankles stands a human-sized door, with a smaller door sized for ratfolk set within it. A frame holding an iron gong stands to the side of the nested doors. Beyond the columns, arrow slits pierce both side walls. Well-worn tiles of gold-
veined white marble line the floor.

A pair of ratfolk guards stand at attention their weapons drawn. It seems as if the Aspis agents have beat you hear and have warned them about dangerous interlopers. One with a crossbow as it on the person who took point the other is making his way to a bronze gong.

Who are you? What do you want? They demand.

Greetings guards. As my friend said we are members of the Pathfinder Society, a powerful organisation in Golarion. Our gaol is to find, studies and secure artefacts, stories and objects of historical interest. We hope to find an arrangement with our powerful tribe who will benefice both.
But I will let my friend Junichiro explain it to you with better words.

I'm sorry for my silence the last few days. I was away for the weekend for my brother's wedding, and far away from any computer

Junichiro bows deep in a very formal way to the guards at the gate, and addresses them in very formal and polite Tien.

Greetings honored denizens of the Pagoda of the Rat. There is no cause for alarm, we have not come to harm you. This one, Junichiro, samurai of the Goemoto family humbly requests an audience with your esteemed leaders for himself and his companions.

May I please introduce my them, Junichiro says while presenting them in turn: The great mages and learned scholars Awveyen and Ceric, and Ragnar Gurnison, a holy warrior.

We are, as my colleagues have indicated, diplomats. We represent the Pathfinder Society, an organization dedicated to the accumulation and sharing of all manner of learning and knowledge. We wish to study this realm, and offer our knowledge in return. We do not come to exploit or to plunder. We do not come with poison or with the hidden knife. In fact, we hold you in high esteem and we even may be able to assist you against common enemies.

The samurai draws on his resolve in two ways, using "resolute" for a flat +4 and "way of the samurai" to roll 3 times: 2 uses remaining

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33

With the kind words the outcome which would have surely been the lives of the ratfolk turn to words, where you can almost get a smile out of one of them. Looking at the writ of passage from the tower guard he asks, Where you made to fight his minotaur guardian?

No, but we did have to fight a dragon on our way in.

We did not meet a minotaur on our way here. The good captain probably thought it wise to keep that particular ace up his sleeve for an emergency.

Ceric raises an eyebrow at the mention of having had to fight a minotaur

"I wonder if they are trying to check us for lies..or that it's a custom here to fight something when you pass a check point.."

“You may enter as friends of the Rats of Round Mountain, but heed our warning. Not all within will honor this letter. The guards beyond the Sundered Path have long been stationed away from the rest of us within the pagoda, and they don’t know of the growing division among our people. There is dissension between those loyal to the Undying Empress and those who wish to be free of her rule. We are among the latter, but any within who disagree with us are likely to ignore this letter and the message of peace that it represents. Best of luck, Pathfinders.

Entering into the room:
A ten-foot-diameter pillar fills the center of this square chamber, with the narrow steps of a spiral stair rising up its sides. Murals of the raising of the Pagoda of the Rat dominate the walls. Doors stand in the center of three of the four murals. In the scene on the northern wall, the pagoda stands nearly finished as a majestic ratfolk female—a giant among her kind—looks on approvingly, her hands folded behind her back in a regal pose.

Besides the ascending spiral staircase there are doors to the east and west.

Thank you. By chance have other foreigners passed through recently?
If so I'll ask what race they were and what type equipment they had. Also if they have had an audience with the Queen yet and if they know the out come.

Yes, several humans armed with battleaxes, kukris and javelins wearing chain shirts. I believe they are meeting with the Undying Empress now.

Follow your heart, Gorum will give you the power you need to fight ! Be his blessing upon you, friend !

Said Ragnar to the ratfolk guards.

Once in the room

What do we do ? Do we try to help those ratfolk wanting to free themselve from the rule of this "Undying Empress" ? Or do we go to her and propose our help to stop this revolution ?
