Round 2: 29/29 HP, AC 16
Spinning as she backs away, Caterine is less kind and brings her weapon to bear on the pirate attacking Bree...
Whip (lethal): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 for 1d3 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
...tip of the leather cord snaking in to tear at the man's throat.
At work and can't see the map - but 5ft step East and attack the one attacking Bree should work shouldn't it?
DM Zyren / Heart of Riddles |
@Cat: Bree is blocking your way, you can't move to the sides atm.
Winter dispatches his attacker with ease and red blood sprays through the air. Now the pirates have lost their third man and their courage is already gone...When Cat's whip curls around another pirate's neck, Blacktooth shouts
Help! We're under attack!
Their attacks come more cautiously now and they try to hold out until reinforcements arrive

I wasn't taking in to consideration that with Winter Giant sized, Bree's technically in a flanking position, right?
Bree curses once more as her blade misses and her opponents does not. HP 23/31 Gritting her teeth and growling in fury, she lashes out at the pirate again.
Thank you Kabal, for pointing out my errors here... also, you had said the 2d8 was in addition to the normal damage, correct? Is this right then? I think I did it wrong in the past...
Masterwork Dagger (sneak stab) 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 - 2 = 22

Blacktooth squeeks as the flames burn his skin and you're sure he would have fled if not more pirates had arrived at this very moment:
Snarling and shouting a pack of seven more pirates come rushing towards you from a door leading to the crew's quarters
Blacktooth now eyes Kabal with new courage and swings at him

Kabal Breven |
Kabal growled deep in his chest and chuckled as the cutlass bounced harmlessly off of his armor. The heat of battle was burned under his skin and he felt more alive than ever. He pressed the assault.
Power Attack on Blacktooth - 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Damage - 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Bree Longfield |
Since there are no more enemies in her face, Bree stashes her daggers and readies her crossbow. Assuming I can't actually make use of it until next round? Or can I? Also, how tall is this square object that takes up the spaces of I16-17:J16-17? Can she shoot over it?
DM Zyren / Heart of Riddles |
Here and there the the cries of dying pirates echoe over the deck. The planks have already become slippery but still more of the crew storm towards you. You're a bit surprised how easily you dispatch these men, but the surviving ones act more cautiously now and refrain from attacking. Looks like they're waiting for someone...
@ Bree: Yes, you can shoot over it.
@ Cat: Your disarm was successful.

Bree Longfield |
Bree nods before onto the median to crouch on J16 (if possible).

She will then take aim and shoot at the man at J10 (if possible with everything in the way).
Crossbow 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage 1d8 ⇒ 5
If that shot wasn't possible because of things blocking her way, or if she wasn't able to move onto the median, she would have taken a shot at the man on I19 if he still stands and the shot was available without hitting her allies.
DM Zyren / Heart of Riddles |
The pirate attacked by Cat doubles over and gasps for air as he hits the ground
Please, spare me!
he whines and raises his hands in surrender.
On the other side an unfortunate pirate dies as Winter swings his mighty blade - a "THUMP" later and another man cries as Bree's bolt smashes into his shoulder. But still, the pirates don't attack, just look nervously to the helm - as you follow their gaze, you realize why their attention is so focused at this point.
Next to the helm is a man of about fifty years with long grey hair, wearing a tricorne and an old navy uniform The pic is correct, just ignore the values
You don't know how long he has been observing the bloodshed, but he does not seem to be worried, in fact he grins as the man to Winter's feet takes his last breath.
Kabal Breven |
Caught up in the battle; Kabal didnt notice the man everyone was gawking at nor did he care to. All he saw was his next target (I,18) and he stepped up to chop him down.

Ignoring Kabal and his continued struggles, Sebastian spots the scene stealer that holds the pirates in check. "Now see? If I were playing a pirate...THAT, it what I would look like.
Calling out, "Captain Grudge I presume. Sorry, we made a mess of your deck, but we didn't care to be supper for your crew."
Caterine Gabor |
Caterine holds her position glancing at the pirates warily and setting her whip to dancing side to side, cracker making a stacatto beat. Something isn't right...

Sable fires towards the grinning pirate.

While Winter opens the belly of another pirate, Sable's bolt hits the pirate captain in the arm. The man grins, pulls the bolt free and takes a smell of it, then he lets it fall down to his giant lizard pet.
You're tough, but I have fought and killed people much tougher than you! Silena, put these clowns on the grudge list!
Behind him a tanned woman appears who writes some names on a very long list
Aye, done captain!
