Corvax and Kabal depatch the akata easily as it climbs over the battlements and Sebastian's spells hinder the aliens in further advancing. Below, the monsters have stopped attacking the greased door area and start to ram against the walls of the tower and the smaller outbuildings...
Samaritha looks at Winter
What the hell are they trying to do?
Rd5:
Kabal
Corvax
Winter
Sebastian
Sable
Bree
Samaritha
Mages
Akatas
Zombies
Kabal Breven
Nice work bub. We're gonna have to finish these beasts off quick before they bring this place down.
The mercenary will heave another stone at a climbing akata.
Attack AK,8 - 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Damage - 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (1, 5) + 8 = 14
Corvax Schultheiss
"Cheers, things seem ta go down jus' as easy as anything else so far."
Heaving the rock he had recently dropped back onto his shoulder, Corvax heads for the window and lobs it at the nearest Akata.
Attack AK4 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 272d10 + 7 ⇒ (2, 3) + 7 = 12
Critical confirmation 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 82d10 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12
Hah, critical hit followed by a critical miss. So unlikely.
Bree Longfield
Bree growls, "Damn it! This is useless, that thing is just eating through my bolts! It's like it doesn't even feel it..."
Locking another bolt into place, Bree takes her aim and fires once more at the same target.
Crossbow 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage 1d8 ⇒ 2
Critical confirmation 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage 1d8 ⇒ 3x2=6
Sebastian DeGray
Round 5
Sebastian moves between the pair of fighters and adds more grease to first Corvax's side of the tower.
That is the last of the 1st level spells. Will have to burn a 2nd level spot to finish my greasing of the tower.
Bree Longfield
I guess Sable is gone atm?! Will somone kindly RC him?
Yeah his computer is still in the shop I think, and he can only sneak online a bit at work, lol. I'm not sure what his schedule is this week though. If you would like, I can contact him via text/telephone and take over for him if need be, that way we know for sure what he wants his actions to be. Though, I'm fairly certain as Sebastian posted, he would've fired again.

It seems Sebastian conveniently interrupted the moment I was going to backstab Winter! Just kidding. Computer should be back tonight... no idea what will be left on it. At work all weekend so I should be able to post either way. Thanks for covering for me!"
DM Zyren / Heart of Riddles
Annoyed by the slippery tower surface the akatas swiftly climb down again. On the ground their brethren double their efforts to damage the whole structure. First small cracks and fissures become apparent, but as more and more akatas ram their body against the tower walls they get larger and larger.
Samaritha looks to the room's roof, dust trickles down between the wooden poling boards.
Oh dear, I think the tower won't last many minutes...
Kabal Breven
Kabal was thrilled when at first it appeared that the akatas were fleeing but then he felt the tower tremble.
Uh oh! We either go down the stairs and get out of this tower or we get buried in it! Move!
Not waiting for a reply the big man leapt for the stairs.

Calling to the others,
"If we need a distraction, I can jump from the top and continue to hail bolts down upon the akata while I try for the roof of another building. My magic can permit one other to glide to safety as well."
Winter Snow
"Well they have the putside surrounded, but we need to be prepared to push out into their numbers and lay waste with boots and blades... do the Wizards have any spells for mopping up groups?"
DM Zyren / Heart of Riddles
One of the wizards shouts I can send burning flames from my hands, they bite and boil and will surely turn those evil fiends to ash!!!
So can I! pipes another one in.
Samaritha looks concerned and mutters We need to do better than that...these guys are just akolythes
So, will Sable and Bree float over to one of the other buildings?
Kabal has meanwhile reached the ground floor, sweating and obviously a bit panicked by the sounds of the tower.
As the broad-shouldered warrior reaches the door-room, Samaritha asks How is it looking from above?
Kabal Breven
It doesnt look good from up top. Theyve abondoned trying to get in and are concentrating on destroying the tower walls. We're gonna get buried in here. We've gotta go out the door and cut our way through them. Corvax and I will lead the way. Make your preparations.
Kabal had his sword and shield at the ready as was just waiting for the others before he stepped out into what could be certain death.
DM Zyren / Heart of Riddles
Samaritha ponders about the horrific news, but then suddenly she seems to have an idea
If they bring the tower down they will surely bury themselves under it, too - why don't we ride on the tower when it comes down - can't we do that?
One of the mages looks incredulously at her and screams
You're insane! We will get squashed underneath it! These people here can surely kill the akatas - can't you?
Sable Eboncrow

"If we are to fly upon the crumbling tower, I suggest my glide be placed upon a giant Winter or Kabal, who holds as many of the others as he can carry besides myself. My patrons ensure that I rarely need concern myself with falling."
Corvax Schultheiss
Corvax listens with mounting horror to the plan being formed and after a few moments adds his considered opinion to the mix.
"Wai', so we're gonna wai' til the tower is comin' down an' then ride it like a combination of a fallin' tree an' one of them log rollin' competitions people do in rivers? S'possibly t'maddest thing I've ever 'eard."
Sebastian DeGray
"I have a chance to blind a fair number of them if'n that will help come the right time. Either before or after the tower collapse. It wouldn't last long but could help at the right moment."
"As for riding the tower down, that sounds as crazy as us chasing that Drow up the arch."
Kabal Breven
Hahaha! Oh it is a mad plan Corvax! Hohoho! And why would that stop us? Sebastian is right. I aint crazy about it but Im feeling crazy enough to do it. I guess we should get back upstairs to get it started. Who knows? Maybe we'll get to throw a few more stones and thin the ranks a bit first.
And with that he'll head back up the tower.
DM Zyren/ Heart of Runes
Samaritha smiles, hope has returned to her face and she grabs the two mages by the shoulder
Don't hesitate then, let us all run up to the tower top, we have to wait until the right moment and then get on the tower like Corvax described it! Nethys hates cowards, he is a mad god and we are his even madder followers, hah!
Her clear laughter gives you the shivers, but you think the moment of arguing is already long gone...
The tower has already begun to shake threateningly as you hurry up the stairs
Acrobatic DC 5, everyone
Kabal Breven
As he bounded up the stairs the tower trembled beneath him.
Acrobatics - 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 So glad I put ranks into this now.
Kabal put a hand against the walls as he made his way up to keep from falling back down on the people following him but he heard Samaritha's remark.
Wait a damn minute! You all are zealots to a mad god? And this is just your way to appease him?!
Bree Longfield
A slight giggle escapes from Bree's mouth at Kabal's exclamation, her own eyes widening in surprise, unsure if the sound truly came from her.
Acrobatics 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Oh my, Kabal, these acrobatics rolls are not going to be kind to us today...
DM Zyren / Heart of Riddles
Together you hurry up the stairs, but as you reach the tower's spire, the whole structure has already begun to shake and sway heavily.
Oh dear, from this high the plan looks a bit worse, heh.
Samaritha laughs nervously as she stares down into the rows of akatas and zombies that are about to bring the tower down.
The tower will collapse every second, and this is the last chance to cast spells or prepare anything.
Last wishes?
Winter Snow
"It would have been nice if the blood of angels flowing in my veins had of been thoughtfull enough to provide me with the wings of an agnel too... though if wishes were fishes there would be no starvation eh?"
Bree Longfield
Bree fidgets nervously with her braid, twirling the tip of it back and forth, back and forth. She chews slightly on her lower lip.
"If I die here, and one of you make it, please take my body back to Riddleport. Find Jefferson, he'll know what to do with me."
Kabal Breven
Kabal looks down, way down; at the milling akatas and zombies and shakes his head at their foolhardy plan.
Bah! If I die because of some zealots dreamy idea of pleasing their god I will haunt this damn rock til the end of time. So whats next? You said something about me carrying people?
Sable Eboncrow
|
"If Winter can enlarge himself or you, I'll ensure you glide to the ground below. I will fall as a feather, so I will not need to be carried. If that doesn't work, it has been nice flying with you all!"
To Korax,
Sebastian DeGray
"Whichever way the tower falls, I can try to blind the creatures that won't get crushed, but it won't last long. That's about all I got, other than keep your knees bent and try to roll with it."
Kabal Breven
As he swelled to his new larger size Kabal couldnt help but grin at the complete abusrdity of their course of action. He flexed his muscles experimentally.
...if only i could stay this big...
I reckon I could carry three maybe four of you. Best if its the least fleet of foot or the most squishy to a long hard fall. Choose wisely and lets get this over with.
Kabal can dead lift 800 lbs.
