Fethryth's going for B. Her Headstrong drawback's kicking in so it'll be very hard to convince her otherwise. She's not convinced that they have to fight Varal, plus his fights are a lovely distraction.

Emerson Hill |

Okay, well if Feth wants to go up the outside stairs, Emerson will go with her.
Jess, you wanna come with us or stay with the not-so-stealthy constables tripping up the stairs?

Tobias Utegg |

or stay with the not-so-stealthy constables tripping up the stairs?
All those skill points in stealth wasted!

Willem Muhnee |

Is that some sort of banister next to Emma and Willem on the Room French or Double Door side?

DM Vord |

Yeah Gemma and Willem are on a stairwell leading up to the landing where Tobias stands at. So Gemma can barely see from her point on the stairs and Willem can't see anything at all. So Gemma and Willem would need to move up off the stairs to fire if they had to.
Tobias is actually on the floor and not the stairs if that helps.

DM Vord |

She's down the stairwell, basically on the square behind Willem in the stairwell. Anneca, Willem, and Gemma are on the stairs and therefore cannot see the action. Tobias is at the top of the stairs on the actual antechamber observatory level.
So for Willem, Gemma and Anneca -- you want to interact in the scene? Get yourselves then off the stairs!

Willem Muhnee |

Nice response Feth ...
As for the rest of us, the sense true motives is really our queue to get into position.

Tobias Utegg |

Sleep is a full round action so Tobias can't move until it's gone off.

Willem Muhnee |

roger ... Willem is just impatient especially when hears calling bluffs.
Gemma what square did you move to?

Fethryth Teldanona |

Nice response Feth ...

She thinks she's being pretty diplomatic since she didn't threaten to knock his teeth out. ;)

Fethryth Teldanona |

Sigh...that's the same initiative roll I had in the last fight. Darn dice rng.

Willem Muhnee |

Darn, I was going to move before init but was too tired last night. Oh well ... lol ... fight on!

Jesselle Wesmere |

Heading off to work, I will post after I get home this evening. Trying to use my Unfinished Business feat of summoning a spirit but hoping to get an officer or the like with a weapon that might cut through the DR of Asrabey (unless Ghost touch does that for some odd reason)...Is there anyone in the room below that might work for that?

DM Vord |

Heading off to work, I will post after I get home this evening. Trying to use my Unfinished Business feat of summoning a spirit but hoping to get an officer or the like with a weapon that might cut through the DR of Asrabey (unless Ghost touch does that for some odd reason)...Is there anyone in the room below that might work for that?
Hmmm...interesting there. Well the ghost touch property just would mean that any attacks you'd have performed using Unfinished Business in combat would apply versus incorporeal or corporeal creatures equally - so you could use this to affect a shadow for example. In terms of breaching Asrabey's Armor Class, there's nothing special about the attack that would bypass standard AC.
Given the terms of the feat though (that you can bring a spirit back to perform a standard action of your choice), that would include a spell cast from either a divine storm druid or arcane war mage spellcaster - both of which there are examples of those that have died in the last few minutes certainly...
...so let's say I'll let you have a spirit cast a standard action spell in the Core Rulebook's spell list of up to 3rd level spells as a CL 5 spell (with a +5 ranged touch attack or +3 melee touch attack if applicable) - either from a recently deceased war mage officer (wizard/sorcerer list) or druidic skyseer advisor (druid list). How about that? Otherwise, you can have your pick of a rebel fighter officer making a single sword or bow attack at +10 for 1d8+7 dmg, but against Asrabey's AC 35 that would still require a '20' roll.
EDIT: Obviously, it's up to you to really flavor it up in your post and describe the returned spirit and where it manifests, what it uses, how it might interact with Jesselle, etc.

DM Vord |

WOW! Nice job! I would like to congratulate the party for defeating what is listed in the adventure as a 15th Level Eladrin Fighter ... albeit one that only had 10 hit points left! As you can see, Zeitgeist combat can be challenging in the fact that it often throws scenarios in challenging terrain (ex: the Hedge Maze, the Sea Cave Mine) or conditions (ex: lighting issues when taking the Lighthouse), or with added parameters for victory (ex: the Coaltongue Sabotage encounter). A group of 18-20 STR meatheads going up against Asrabey in melee would have accomplished nothing unless lucky to land a perfect 20 roll.
So we have about a week's worth of wrap-up conversations left I'd say (this scene and one final scene at sunset), provided everyone posts timely in the discussions. Then the timeline advances almost eighty days to the start of Summer, whereupon we will be starting the second adventure (The Dying Skyseer) of our AP! A lot of narrative changes coming to get you all based in Flint City and Flint Branch for the second module ... and I'll be posting soon what I will need from each of you in terms of laying out for me some character background development for Flint.
As I hinted at in this post a month ago, you are all not going to get 3rd level until far in to the second module. However, you all deserve some boons and rewards for the completion of the first adventure (Island at the Axis of the World). They technically aren't showing up here for these final wrap-up scenes (obviously), but you can go ahead and start updating your PC's and sorting out what you want to do now if you'd like.
Rewards/Boons:
1) +1500gp Stipend increase: So that's Max Start Wealth + 1000gp + 1500gp total). Assumption is that you turn in all specially bestowed mission-only gear plus any acquired items in-mission, but the new stipend level you are at means you can turn-in any other (undamaged/unused) gear at full value, due to R.H.C. resources. So figure out what you will start the second adventure on with 2620gp-2800gp wealth based on your starting class.
COIN NOTE: The three Ancient Coins (of Urim, Avilona, Nem) do not have to be turned in - narrative-wise they are part of the story and I will hand-waive in the story that they can be kept by the PC's (as nothing "archaeological" was supposed to be taken off Axis per stipulations by Danor - the R.H.C. doesn't want them in their vaults). The coins off Axis Island, however, only provide the once-per-day power and no other passive powers or the elemental allies.
2) Hero Points back to full (2): If you used Hero Points in the first adventure, you now have them back at your current level. If you didn't use any...well...you still have them!
3) One Free Ability Score Point to any Ability Score: Similar to what you would normally get every four levels - a free one-point bump to an ability score! Please post in Discussion where you are going to apply it, and once chosen it cannot be changed.
Congratulations! Any questions?

DM Vord |

Note on What the R.H.C. R&D Department Can Make For You:
I'll find a place on the Campaign Info Tab for this soon, but obviously you may want to spend some of your stipend/salary wealth on magical items ... and there's an entire Research & Development group of wizards, alchemists, diviners and dweomercrafters that work for the R.H.C.! So a wide array of items are possible BUT I want this to have reasonable limitations.
So for considerations of anything magic-crafted, let's start with the following limitations (aside from price) from Ultimate Equipment, which if you don't have the book you can find in the Paizo PRD.
* Special Materials: Alchemical silver, cold iron, darkwood, darkleaf cloth is available, feysteel (mithril) and skymetal (adamantine) is not due to its rarity.
* Arms and Armor: Only +1 enchantments and enchantment bonuses for arms and armor.
* Wondrous Items, Rings, Rods: Only least and lesser minor items are available for crafting by R&D.
* Potions: Only 1st Spell Level CL1 common potions are available for crafting by R&D. This is commensurate with the lesser minor category.
* Scrolls: Only 1st-2nd Spell Level CL1-CL3 common scrolls are available for crafting by R&D. This is commensurate with the lesser minor category.
* Wands: Only 1st Spell Level CL1 common wands are available for crafting by R&D. This is commensurate with the lesser minor category.
Finally, remember that we are using a "modified" version of Automatic Bonus Progression, which eliminates the need for Rings of Protection, Cloaks of Resistance, Amulets of Natural Armor, Belts/Headbands of stat increases, and other items that mimic those kinds of items. Enchantments to armor and weapons are still in the game as normal.

Jesselle Wesmere |

While it is a large chunk of the stipend that we are getting I am consider getting a Handy Haversack, one of those nifty backpacks that can carry a lot. It would reduce some weight as Jesselle is already pushing her light load (which is 43 lbs).
There is also the thought of armor but I am not sure that spending 810gp is worth +1 AC right now (from MW hide shirt to darkleaf lamellar armor.) Unless someone has the opinion otherwise? (End goal of armor is mithral agile brestplate)
Other than a few scrolls or the like are the only other things that I can think of. We could all contribute to another wand of CLW (107.14 gp each).
I am always open to suggestions though. If you have any, please let me know.

Anneca Summers |

Anneca will definitely be applying the point to her Intelligence.
Anneca will be happy to keep the coin. The once per day flight has been extremely useful for pushing her into dangerous situations.

Willem Muhnee |

My Free ability increase will be Strength.
Do I need to turn in the Healing Tonic to receive full value of the Stipend?

DM Vord |

My Free ability increase will be Strength.
Do I need to turn in the Healing Tonic to receive full value of the Stipend?
Well it's on your honor, but yes all bestowed mission items (ex. Catching Cape, Potion of Aid, passwall scroll) as well as acquired items (Healing tonics, items from Sorkana and Ilton, etc.) must be turned into R.H.C. Quartermaster's Offices as soon as is feasible. Holding something out from that constitutes a violation of R.H.C. policies ... if someone wants to do that let me know, but the PC would know they are putting their career at risk by skimming/stealing resources.
Now if you used up a potion or consumable during the mission? Well you used it, so you don't have to account for it or subtract it. That's fair game.

Willem Muhnee |

When will advance firearms be available for use since it will require a feat? I need to reserve it or at least when you surprise us with their availability, can you make it on an odd Feat level? Or will that require you to be too nice to firearm users? ... LOL

Fethryth Teldanona |

I'll be putting my free point into Dexterity. How soon do you need our stipend choices? I have a few items I'm looking at.

Tobias Utegg |

I too am seriously weighing item choices, which is why I've yet to post. So if we've got a time frame I'd like to know as well.
@Jesselle, a haversack is a good item to have, but I also wouldn't neccesarily discount the benefit a +1 to AC brings, especially at lower levels. Sometimes it's the difference between standing or bleeding. I think both can be good choices in the long run.

DM Vord |

Well aside from getting my tush in gear over here, I'd say a couple of weeks real-time before any gear/stipend choices would really matter or be relevant. In-game time would be anywhere during an eighty-day transition from the rest of Spring to the start of Summer season. I would like for each of you to so something of a snapshot interim scene once we get to "eighty days pass and..." but I have to lay that out for you still. So in answer to your question, you have plenty of time to think about it and sort it out.

Willem Muhnee |

Willem will probably acquire;
(2) Double-Barreled Pistols (875 crowns) - Take advantage of my feats.
(1) MW Double-Barreled Musket (925 crowns)
Leaving 1000 Crown Stipend for other gear.

Tobias Utegg |

Alright, the extra point will go into Strength.
37 Crowns Currently on Sheet +1500 for stipend increase.
Turning in:
Studded Leather Armor +25 crowns
Cash before additional purchases: 1562
Stipend Purchases:
+1 Chain Shirt - 1250 crowns (312 Remaining)
Infused Crystals (Scroll Equivilants) - faerie fire, grease, charm person, cause fear 25 crowns each, -100 crowns total
Cash remaining: 212 Crowns

DM Vord |

My apologies friends for the unexpected week-long hiatus! I'm back in action though starting today, and I'm ready to turn around any dialogue you'd like to have on the observatory aftermath over the next couple days.
Following that I'll be narrating down the final part of this first adventure with one more PC interaction scene of dialogue, and then it's onward to the interim and the start of our second adventure!

Willem Muhnee |

Do we get our gear before the second part of our adventure?

Fethryth Teldanona |

A good, oh, seven years I started playing the Lord of the Rings MMO.
When it came to naming my character I stuck some random syllables together and, voila, Fethryth was born.
I don’t play that game anymore, or MMOs in general really, but I came away with a group of friends that I’m still close with to this day. We’ve bounced around from game to game and so I’ve been Fethryth, or Feth for short, in a lot of games for a long time. When I needed a name for the message boards here it was an easy choice, and of course I had to use my former DnD name, Fethryth Teldanona, for one of my characters.
When I was reading through the backstory and I saw that you guys were using ‘Feth’ as a curse word I laughed myself sick. I can only imagine what you guys thought when I started posting in recruitment with that name. I thought for a while about switching to a different alias, but I think it’s going to be fun watching ‘Feth’ deal with the fact that her Elven name is used as a curse word in Risur’s common tongue.

Willem Muhnee |

Ah another one that stopped playing MMOs ... :-) A few of us know LOTRO very well or at least we did ... lol.

Emerson Hill |

Yes, I've done the level up to Rivendell too many times to count. I really liked the concept of the legendary items but when the screwed around with the level cap and your item became not-so-legendary, I started to lose interest. It was a great day that I took that particular needle out of my arm.

Gemma Atherton |

To Feth--funny thing is that I racked my brain trying to think of an alternative to the word! Gemma doesn't curse much but she's heard the term from prior team members (as well as around Flint, I'm sure) and that's what flew out of her mouth. But coming up with dialogue that includes trying to stay true to the genre and the story is proving difficult at times. Hopefully, Gemma will have a moment to apologize at a later date (provided they make it back to Flint). :-)

DM Vord |

Do we get our gear before the second part of our adventure?
Basically yes, in the interim period of the remainder of the Spring season before our second adventure starts in Summer.
Also in that time I'll be having a lot of changes in the posting of constables to the various branches...which includes Fethryth, Jesselle and Tobias being permanently posted to Flint Branch, joining Willem, Anneca, Emerson and Gemma there. Crazy how that just turns out like that!
