I am stealing an idea from the DM that runs the Council of Thieves game on the boards I am in. To speed things up for searching and mundane things I will just be giving out the information.
Example: You state you search the cottage- "It is a meager little cottage with an overused and un cleaned fire place with some mats on the floor near it. There is two shuttered glassless windows that let enough light into the room to notice the odd sculpture on the small table.
The sculpture is made of carved wood and is of a creature you have never seen before. It sits squat with his feet grasping over the edge in a perch, its big bloated body has two smaller bat wings that come off of his back, and its face looks like that of a ocean spider, an octopus. All together the idol looks like a mix between a man, dragon, and octopus.
After inspecting the wooden carving you search the rear room of the cottage, there is a man hanging by his neck from the rafter. In his pocket you find the knife that is assumed to carve the idol. As you take the knife from his pocket a tentacle bursts from his abdomen and attacks. Combat begins."
-So as you can see I will be throwing all the info, telling you what you find, and starting combat. It is much quicker than splitting up having one person search the fireplace, the other the idol, the other the sleeping mats, the other the dead body. What would be 5+ posts is now 1.
But as this is still a democracy I would like your input on this new approach. Leave it as is, go with the change, or any fresh ideas.

I recommend we sell all the gear because it is sized small. This would net us 206.5 gp. With the 20 additional gp that is 226.5/4 or 56.62 gp each. (rounded down with 2 coppers left over for the take a penny/keep a penny jar) I think our front-line fighters should hold the first batch of potions, with Azoth getting the Cure Moderate Wounds because he has the most hit points, and he is least likely to waste healing power if he has to use it. Zolarus would, of course take the Cure Light Wounds and the next couple of healing potions will go to the casters until everyone has an emergency stash.
If we sell, at the same time our characters can update any gear at the same place, then I think we should head over to the tavern and see what Lord Foxglove has to say.
What do people think, is it a plan?

Cool.
DM can I purchase eastern style armor here in Sandpoint? I don't know if the Tien descended natives and Azoth's example opens up the possibility. I would like to get a Haramaki with armored kilt.

So I would say because it is rare and has to be made custom it costs more.
But wait! (Drumroll)
When the group visits the armorer he perks up noticing the new town heroes and offers a 20% off discount on all armors!
Lets say it costs regular price not subject to the 20% off.

Azoth the Warrior |

I just got to my hotel... had to go out of town for a wedding. I would be more than happy to update Azoth's background with more information on the aforementioned demon wheen I get back to the room after dinner :)

Azoth the Warrior |

Azoth was born in Korvosa, in Varisia. He was raised by a family of noble blood that had a strong faith in Iomedae, the Inheritor.
When Azoth was a child, he spent a lot of time in study, focusing on the history of Varisia, and particularly focused on the ancient Thassilonian civilization. Azoth always wanted to be a scholar, and for this the other children teased and bullied him. Azoth never responed offensively to the beatings, he simply learned how to react faster. Azoth's father, Zandu, became concerned for his son. In his family, the men went to war. Zandu took up much of Azoth's time teaching him the traditions of their family, how to serve Iomedae, and how to react before your foes "Become a paladin of Iomedae, a holy warrior, then you can use your talents to learn and be a scholar later." his father would tell him. So, when the boy came of age, he went to the local temple of Iomedae to become a holy warrior, still studying whenever he got the chance. Because of all his learning and training, Azoth seemed to be able to act before his opponents even knew what was happening in a fight.
This became invaluable when his mentor took him on a pilgrimage to the crusades in the Worldwound. While there, they learned of an incubus that was using its mind games to create chaos in the ranks of the crusaders. Azoth and his mentor were tasked with tracking down and killing the demon. Azoth's insight usually allowed them to get the jump on the incubus, but just before they could get the killing blow the incubus would teleport away, and the hunt would be renewed.
Eventually, the hunt led them to Tian Xia, far to the east. With the help of a local samurai, the paladins were again able to locate the incubus, tjis time slaying him before he could teleport.
During the fight, Azoth's armor was practically torn in half and destroyed. It just so happened that the samurai that helped them was also an armorsmith, who offered to make Azoth some new armor for free. The samurai made him a set of kikko armor with a stylized symbol of Iomedae emblazoned on the chest. After thanking the samurai, the paladins returned home, where Azoth completed his training and was sent off to fight evil in the world.
Hearing of some trouble in Sandpoint and the surrounding region, Azoth thought this might be a good opportunity to learn more about history while perhaps using his martial talents to help the locals there.

Zolarus is saving up for MW studded leather, MW shortbow, MW thieves tools and MW boots, cloaks and other misc. MW items to improve his skills. He has a lot to save. But before I do, it begs the question even though it is allowed in PFS...
DM Sockmonkey: Are you allowing MW misc. items for +2 competence skill bonuses? For example, MW boots help with Acrobatics, MW cloak for stealth, MW gloves for Sleight of Hand, MW goggles for Perception, etc.

DM Sockmonkey |

This is not PFS so we can bend the rules some.
Where have you seen these before (MW gloves, etc?).
I do not see this as a problem, in 3.5 there was an equipment book that had all kinds of fun stuff in it. Like soft sole boots that gave a +2 towards move silently. As long as it makes sense sure. I want to know how the MW gloves add to pick pockets though.

I was just making the assumption that MW gloves could aid in Sleight of Hand. I was wrong about the type of bonus--it is a circumstance bonus not competence. Again, I know this is a grey area and totally your call.

DM Sockmonkey |

I am fine with using them.
Get creative, the more strange of an item the harder it will be to acquire. I like the gives bonuses to certain aspect of skill rule.
Like the MW soft rubber sole boots give the +2 move silently are easier to get than the gloves made out of baby seal foreskin that give a +2 toward pickpocket. (chuckles)

In regards to my flaming flying pony, nothing masterwork just give me awe inspiring ride bonuses.
....maybe larger breasts (within 1 mile from pony) for increased intimidation.
In all seriousness I like the way Zolarus is thinking and agree just as long as the item bonuses are logical. To purchase and gather the needed items is still a long way off for we infantile adventurers.

Foxglove's pouch had 50gp.
Split evenly:
12gp, 5sp.For that matter, who will be recording our loot?
Any objection to just keeping individual counts? We split as we get it?

![]() |

Thim-->No objection at all.
DM Sockmonkey-->Will you create a blank google document labeled "Loot" and put it near the the map link so we can fill out our individual treasure, allocation of items, purchases and sales? I don't mind tracking inventory.

Good idea!
All set, let me know if there is a problem with the link or editing ability.

I was just doing the same thing...
Here's an example of what I've used for another PbP:
RotRL Loot
If you like I could easily create and share to our group

DM Sockmonkey |

Anyone want to go through Library of the Lion?
PFS 5-11 levels 1 - 5.I'm prepping for a game in STL this weekend. This would be my first PbP DM attempt, y'all seem cool and I'd appreciate your input over others.
Thoughts?
When will you be starting?
Going out of town for a week.
It will not disrupt my posting for this pbp.

V'Thamuus 'Thim' Diwanimi |

I don't have any pathfinder society characters. Never had the opportunity for organized play. Sorry.

V'Thamuus 'Thim' Diwanimi |

Cool, I'll look up the requirements and put something together.

I apologize if soliciting within this game discussion thread is rude. It just dawned on me how this could be seen as high jacking a great group of people.
DM, no offense meant.
If you want to join, click here with your chosen character for LotL discussion thread and dot away.
Thanks.
Azoth, if you cannot join I'll recruit elsewhere, just post here that you cannot join us.

V'Thamuus 'Thim' Diwanimi |

Well, that's unfortunate. I hope things settle down for you. Good gaming in the future.

V'Thamuus 'Thim' Diwanimi |

DM, Are we continuing on with just the three of us, or are you going to open up to another recruit. I fear for our longevity without a front-line fighter.

V'Thamuus 'Thim' Diwanimi |

No offense intended. But I was always under the impression you were more a front-line lover, not a fighter. Forgive the assumption . . .

V'Thamuus 'Thim' Diwanimi |

You . . . you . . . you're not saying you would have preferred him to me, are you? I shall endeavor to go on.
I'm having a great time too.

Truth be told Thim was my first pick. Sockmonkey can vouch for me. My friend wasn't into PbP at the time. It wasn't until he expressed interest when I switched my pick.
I think I might have not explained myself very well. The bard rebuild is the skill monkey arcane trapfinder (Bard/Arcane Trickster). We don't need another trapmonkey, but it wouldn't hurt. I would prefer a straight wizard personally. There was an invoker magic missile specialist that applied with a good background. I think his name was "Thim".
See, there was some initial chemistry. LOL
