Chug a few pints and deliver the beat-down? Mighty tempting...
Noro Kas |
Thirzin Bronzebeard |
Indeed, those are tasty lookin ribs. I'm sure they're even better than they look.
Sorry that I've been in and out a lot recently. My work has just been...wearing on me. I really hate where I am, and keep losing sight of the future. I've been passed over for promotion after promotion, and the odd hours & ever changing schedule have left me basically never seeing my close knit family. Physically and mentally, I'm feeling burned out by a lot of my life, and I have no real idea what direction to go forward into.
To top it off, I can't get my health issues under control , and the constant pain leaves me grumpy, tired, and foggy headed. It's not pleasant. To borrow a phrase from The Lord of the Ring, I feel like butter scraped across too much bread.
I'm not dropping out. Just wanted to explain where I've been.
Asuriel Arktaros |
Hang in their Thizzle, you've got a support group here anytime you need one (and our rates our good too, only one punch from Noro per session!). As always the real world takes precedence, we are all just goofing off here making fun of Horatio. ^^
Take all the time you need, we'll be here when you're ready! :D
Noro - now that I know how close you live to me those look worthy of the hour and a half drive!
Horatio - do you think it was the game itself or the crowd that made it so uncomfortable/miserable?
Olivius_Telraven |
Sorry to hear that, Thirzin. I don't begrudge you a slower posting pace. Really, I never begrudge anyone a slow posting pace, but that goes doubly for someone who's going through the wringer.
Olivius_Telraven |
Horatio - also, make sure to speak up if anything I/we do bugs you. Olivius hasn't even started in on his dislike of you and I don't want to cause issues within this wonderful group of people here.
Asuriel Arktaros |
Haha Olivius already has plans for disliking H?! Man I tell you what, Spoony sure has the odds stacked against him. I bet you can swing Asi to your side though if you remind her how much more charismatic she is;)
Olivius isn't fawning over Asuriel either. Guess she needs to spend some time with the many men of the group then!
Olivius_Telraven |
Well, that was the forecast. We'll see how it plays out. He may actually end up supporting the poor guy if he gets abused too much. :P

noro likes you.... it was a special night...
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
Noro - damn, those ribs look good. So if you're ever Down Under, you and your ribs are coming to a barbie, okay? Doesn't matter if it's the middle of winter; it's always BBQ weather here.
Thirzin - bloody hell, mate. I can't even pretend to know what that's like, but you have my sympathy and well-wishes anyway. You feel free to b#@&& and rant here, just like I've been. :p
Asuriel - well really, you're the one who seems to be doing most of the raggin' on here. If that carries over into IC, Spoony will never take your side! :p
Olives - since Olives has such a hate-on for Horatio in the other game, how funny would it be if we were total bros here? You know, just for equilibrium? :p (Yeah, I'm dreaming, I know.) I foresee a few levels of seething hatred, followed by a reconciliation and bro-hugs. Possibly duets. :p

Awew, now now let's not be rash. I think I am more than capable of segmenting Asuriel'd mind from the OOC preconcieved notions. It's the GM side of me probably.
Speaking, who here has played ROTR before and is familiar with the storyline? I know I can't be the only one, I see too many of you knowing key NPC's an story details.
Olivius_Telraven |
I have zero knowledge of this campaign other than it involves Thassalonian Runelords and their wells. I have no idea what the wells actually do, however.
Ask me about the first two books of Skull and Shackles, however, and I have all the details. :P
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
I've read the AP, as I was planning on running it for my home group (then they decided on Kingmaker). Trying really, really hard to separate my knowledge from my character knowledge, though.
Pavanna Alazario |
Yeah, I’ve got the 3.5 and the AE versions and have read them thoroughly (which is why I made certain creative and background decisions about Pavanna). That said, this is the first time I’ve ever played 3.5e/PFRPG, so I’m in the same boat as El Ronza: as a player, I’m trying very hard to play into the various hooks and situations for maximum RP effect while not exploiting OOC meta-knowledge for in-game advantage. It’s an... interesting balance to try to strike.
DM-Salsa |
I've read the AP enough to have the plot memorized. That said, I'm taking some liberties with the details in this game. Asuriel is the GM for the game I'm playing, and I have to say, I did not see some of the things he has done coming. That said, I am looking forward to the second chapter in that game since there's an encounter that I am particularly relishing.
I'm not worried about meta-gaming in this group, you guys have been top notch in my book.
Asuriel Arktaros |
Well I've also got the AE and have been running one PbP/VTT game since last August and another PbP game since January. I'm in love with the story, though I keep adding pieces from other APs, Wayfinder and other modules into my story. It stretches out the game some but I feel like it really helps build the story and connect PCs to the town.
I'll take that as a compliment Salsa:). I also hve it memorized, but I know several of the people in my game know the story so I wanted to add a bit of freshness to it. And ooohhh boy I bet you can't wait for Chapter 2! Guess I'm gonna need to keep you on your toes;)
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
I'm doing that with Kingmaker. I'm trying to add in bits and pieces all over the place - I picked up Legendary Games' Faerie Mysteries to help play up the fey influence more (holy crap, is that a good product!), and I'm shamelessly stealing from the boards. The biggest problem is handling XP. :/
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
That's fine in a more linear story, but Kingmaker is a huge sandbox, particularly with all the stuff I'm adding to it. =(
Asuriel Arktaros |
I shamelessly steal from the boards H. I've probably read over two dozen RotR PbP games for my scenes. I take pieces here and there and weave them into my own story. I really think it enhances the dialogue and detail gaps for things I couldn't ever see.
I'm also a map nerd and tend to photoshop detailed maps for most all the important scenes as well. I spend way to much time doing that though. Like someone checking it is going to notice shadows and such :)
I use event based leveling for RotR, but it is certainly not Kingmaker that's for sure.
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
I'm gathering a list of all the stuff I've either used, plan on using, or plan on stealing from. I've also been buying lots of fey-related third-party products. Gotta play up that theme as much as possible!
Pavanna Alazario |
For the GM’s benefit: I can’t hang about to compose my RP post with Horatio and Savah right now, but when I do, I’ll be working on the assumption that the gear we looted from the goblins has been sold off for us in the background, so we have a pool of cash that works like something of a ‘line of credit’ with the merchants in town (including Savah).
Does that work for you? <.< >.>
DM-Salsa |
If the party agrees that all they want is the potions, then yes. Ping the only small sized character doesn't use goblin stuff, she won't touch it.
Asuriel Arktaros |
I'll get on in a bit to post. Something is in my right eye and I can't see, at the clinic now. Ill post when I can open my eyes again :(
Pavanna Alazario |
Hoboy. And Pavanna’s not there to invoke the ‘two-man rule’ as a reason to watch Olivius’ back.
disgunbegud.jpg >:D
Asuriel Arktaros |
Well, maybe Noro will go. Then again, maybe NOT :)
Toooooo bad Asi isn't down to lend some insight, ahhhh well. Maybe next time!
DM-Salsa |
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
... so, can I seek her out later on? :D
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
By having even the slightest grasp on what my character's like?
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
... DAMNIT.
Nah, this happened to me in my other Runelords game. I suppose it's only fair that someone else gets to slay the rats...
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
Oh! Oh, yes, of course. Had to keep my blade nice and sharp for rat-slaying.
DM-Salsa |
There is a time and a place for the whipping or of one's blade. Now and here are not them.
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
That reminds me, bards are proficient with whips. Why in the blue blazes does Horatio not have a whip?!
Noro Kas |

sticks and stone may break my bones, but whips and chains excite me....;)
Asuriel Arktaros |
Well you're at Savah's, you should pick on up! Don't try it out on Savah though, that might be a mistake.
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
That would be a good way to botch the campaign early on...
Horatio A Aldebrandt |
Babysitter?! *glares*
