About Akisame Koetsuji

Akisame Koetsuji’s backstory.:

Akisame Koetsuji was born and raised in the Tian Shu. His father was a foreigner in those oriental lands, a Varisian to be exact. His mother was a native. Thus Akisame had a mixed heritage that made him the target of all the town’s bullies. Growing up in a society that was all about purity of blood and the rights of birth, Akisame was seen as a mutt, and treated as an outcast.
His father was a trader from Varisian and did not actually marry Akisame’s mother but instead spent some nights with her when he was in town dropping off goods and gave her some money for Akisame’s upbringing. He never did much else for Akisame or his mother and was gone for months at a time.
When other kids were having a hard time of life, they would seek out Akisame and beat him up simply to make themselves feel better. After a while of this, Akisame had enough. He found a wise old monk who studied Akido, an ancient oriental art of control and throws. This wise old monk was kind enough to show Akisame how to defend himself the next time the bullies came to call.
Akisame seem to have a natural aptitude for the style and learned quickly. After much time he was ready to take on the bullies. They did come and he did prevail. However, his victory was short lived when his self-defense was seen as an act against social norms. In the minds of those of this town, birth right was paramount. Being born abnormal meant you weren’t supposed to be bullied. Defending himself was an act of rebellion against the community. Akisame was driven out of his home as a result.
In spite of this harsh treatment, Akisame saw it as more of a blessing. The monastery he trained at was outside of the town’s rules so he and his mother stayed there where he learned more about his style and philosophy of life. He then took to telling people how to live.
When he was old enough, he decided to return to the village that mistreated him and his mother. Though the idea of birth right was common around the whole land, this town in particular took it to a whole new level. I was received with great ire. Given his skills and the town being small, low level commoners and maybe a few warriors, he had no problem defending himself. He went there clearly out of spite. He would throw anyone who would attempt to attack him and then preach the philosophies he had learned. This did not go well for too long and once again he was driven out of town.
He returned to his monastery only to be lectured on how much more he still had to learn. He spent time studying and learning the ways of the world and how to perfect himself. Soon he came to an age where his master said the only way to learn more was to go out into the world and aid people wherever you find them. Explore, challenge the world and grow stronger.
It was at this point that he received a letter that his father was diseased and had a gift that was owed to him by a man named Daviron Hosk. It was a final gift from father to son to apologize for never being there for him. Akisame decided to accept his father’s token and with note in sachel and a need to travel and grow stronger, Akisame set out on a ship for the town of Sandpoint.
Once Akisame arrived he met with Hosk and received his horse. Akisame did his best to learn how to handle the animal but ultimately couldn’t use it for much. Still, he never knew when such a thing would come in handy so he hung onto it. In the meantime, Sandpoint was the best place to start his new training to grow stronger as a warrior, and as a man.

Appearance:

Akisame is a refined and very modest looking person. He wears simple robes but he keeps himself clean and well groomed. He sports silky brown hair and a nice goatee to match. He has rather vibrant blue eyes, they come from his fathers side. He is of average height and weight but under all those robes is a body of power. When he takes off his shirt to train, it is a perfectly proportioned display of muscle.

Peronality:

Akisame is a man of mixed emotions. Most of the time he is calm and philosophical, however, he does blend in a lot of sarcasm and a few smart alack remarks at times. He is not afraid to hurt someone's feelings in he deems in appropriate and he holds nothing back when he criticizes someone. He has been called harsh and mean for simply being what he feels is honest. He will openly admit his own mistakes and failures without the slightest hint of shame or depression and he tends to think others should be the same way.He also suffers from stubbornness issues from time to time but for the most part he is a kind and caring good natured man and will always lend a hand to help others in need. If he is not verbally trying to correct, instruct, or criticize someone, he is usually open and quite chatty.

Work and Hobbies:

In Sandpoint, Akisame works as a sculptor. He makes figurine art and sells it or sculpts customs for clients. He does a lot of sculpts and has a large supply of eerie Buddha statues.

Akisame appreciates all manner of art and attends the local theaters, shows, and other events where people put their talents on display for others to see. Akisame is a very generous tipper but often criticizes other artists on their work, sometimes harshly. While his coin is nice, his manners are not always as welcome. Still, he does encourage growth and never tells anyone to give up. He is just very blunt when he comments on their work. He also hates giving people the illusion they are good at something when he believes their is still work to be done.

Livelihood:

Akisame lives alone for the moment and has few friends. Though many people know him. He is not especially social and spends much of his time either sculpting or training. He does do a number of good deeds around town. He is known as quite the handyman and definitely cares for kids a good deal. He absolutely despises those who prey on the weak and will step in to help someone who cannot readily protect themselves, however, he does believe that people need to fight their own battles sometimes and should stand up for themselves, with some fun at the start.

Combat Style:

Akisame is battlefield control and though he can be tricky to get along with at times, he provides impeccable support when fighting tough foes. Typically Akisame will take an opponent and prepare the foe so that Akisame's allies will have a much easier time hitting and defeating him. Akisame knows several kinds of tripping and grappling maneuvers and is no for never killing a single creature.
