Thirzin Bronzebeard |

"Cade..Cade...Trying to place him..."
Local: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Thirzin strokes his chin in contemplation as all the folks come together. He smirks and waves to everyone. "Good to see we're all still conscious!" The dwarf still has a large number of filled tankards that he has stacked precariously on top of each other.
"Anyone want some beer?"

Horatio Aldebrandt |

Almost as high as mine. Please don't go boosting it, or I'll become obsolete. My days as face will be over, and I'll be reassigned to the party mascot. "Spoony the Bard". :p

Olivius Telraven |

Almost as high as mine. Please don't go boosting it, or I'll become obsolete. My days as face will be over, and I'll be reassigned to the party mascot. "Spoony the Bard". :p
Or the decoy, Rabbit the Bard. ;)

Horatio Aldebrandt |

Now that's just mean. Of course Olivius would suggest that, though. He doesn't seem to like me. :p

Olivius Telraven |

Olivius slides in next to Thirzin (and presumably across from Pavanna from that future conversation thing we have there) and joins the toast. To Consciousness. May it continue to be generally overrated.

Pavanna Alazario |

Thought you were going to set that in a different place. Sorry about that.
Olivius can barely control his grin. She's going to help me. Teach me magic! Just simple stuff, but still. And I don't have to pay her gold. I'm going to advise her on some kind of mysterious new style of fighting. He shrugs, Maybe I'll finally get started on this road to magehood. With all she knows about magical theory, she might be able to spot what I'm missing.
He eyes her, returning the teasing undertone, And you seem to have attached yourself to Horatio rather firmly. What about you too?
Uh... sorry? Things moved on a little quicker than I expected.
A little while ago, with Olivius...
“It sounds like the two of you are going to make quite the pair, then. In battle, of course,” she ‘clarifies’, still twinkle-eyed with mischief. “I’d say I pity anyone who might run afoul of you, but I know you don’t start trouble with anyone who doesn’t bring it on themselves.”
She sobers as she glances at Horatio, weighing how much she can say without betraying the Korvosan’s confidences. “For now, we’re friends. Horatio... has scars on his heart. Something more may come of it; we’ll see. Until then, it’s a matter of trust, and honesty.”
... and ‘now’, with Thirzin and the general War on Sobriety. :P
Pavanna chuckles and snatches a stein out of the stack before it can topple completely, hoisting it to the rest of her company. “‘You’re safer matching blades with a marilith than drinks with a dwarf,’” she says dryly, quoting an adage she actually heard from a Hellknight. “But the day’s warm enough that some refreshment is welcome. I feel I must warn you all, though: I’m told I get very chatty when I’m tipsy.” :D

Horatio Aldebrandt |

"To hell with sobriety! Festivals are for drinking and good cheer!" Horatio plucks a tankard from the stack, clearing his throat and raising the glass.
"A toast to you, a toast to me,
A toast to better days,
We'll toast the best of company
With frothing mugs we raise!"
That done, the Caileanite appropriately takes a deep swig.

DM-Salsa |

Ooooooh lordy. I think I'm going to have to nip this in the bud. >:D
A delicious lunch is followed by a breezy and cool afternoon. The sun has just vanished and the first stars are coming out when another crack of thunder drowns the conversations out. Father Zantus takes the stage and clears his throat. He opens his mouth and a woman's scream shatters the tranquil air. The priest looks about, his expression mixing surprise and shock as another scream, then another rings out into the twilit air.
The crowd quickly parts, getting out of the way a shape racing low to the ground. A dog under a nearby wagon growls, then yelps before falling over and lying dead in a slowly cooling pool of blood.
Before anyone can get a real good look at what just happened. Goblins burst from the shadows.
Roooooooll Initiative!
Goblins: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Initiative:

-Goblins
Okay, with this many people, can you guys put AC, Initiative, and Perception in the Class/Level field in your profile? Please?

Olivius Telraven |

perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
What a perfectly thematic check to make.
Square H10
-double move to draw spear and shield, free speak
Edited to state actions explicitly.
Olivius is confused only for a moment by the screams. One moment, and that is all. With deft, practiced motions his shield comes up off his back and his short spear comes free from its sheath. He faces the direction of the screams and scans the shadows for threats.
He spots it. A little fiend in rags, clenching crude weaponry. He knows this foe.
His blood surges as adrenaline hits his system. Hearing no other commands from the sheriff or the guard, he decides someone better act like they know what they're doing before the entire square makes itself easy targets. Confidence, even excitement, play in his voice as he yells above the crowd, DEFENDERS! ON ME! He drops into a defensive stance, a wall of oak and steel.
COME AND GET ME, LITTLE DEMONS!

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Immediately at the sound of the scream, Victoria was already reaching for her bow. She spun around already prepared to fight whatever evil decided it would disturb this event. She was ready to take down the first perpetrator she saw.
"Everyone, to safety! Clear the street!"
---------
I'm assuming Victoria is within 30 feet of one of these punks, in which case I'm taking the following actions.
-Move Action: Draw Bow
-Standard Action: Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 (Assuming I see one, also with a Thistle Arrow) < Unfortunately I did not spot one, so I'm going to use my Standard Action to instead move toward where I heard them.
-Free Action to speak

Pavanna Alazario |

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Not too bad....
Unless the GM has other plans, Pavanna is next to Olivius, in square I10. Hopefully Horatio and Saroune will be in defensible spots nearby....
“Horatio, Saroune, stay close!” Pavanna adds to Olivius’ shout in a full-throated drill-sergeant’s bark, her manner shifting completely as she recognises the shape of a goblin scuttling under one of the wagons. Gone is the cheery, chatty young woman they’ve known up to this point; now, she’s grim-faced, red eyes narrowed intently, her body-language incredibly precise and controlled as she brings her shield to the ready. “«Inheritor, light our way and lift our hearts,»” she prays in Elven, and her sword flares into bright white light as it clears its sheath.
Free action: give that order. ;)
Move action: draw her longsword
Standard action: use the light SLA granted by her Chosen of Iomedae trait on her sword. (Hopefully that will help out the normal-eyed amongst the party, and/or put a bit of a scare into the goblins. ;)) Remember, the trait doubles that spell’s radius (base 40ft) and duration (to 20min) whenever it’s cast on that sword.

Pavanna Alazario |

Unfortunately, the permissions on the map — in case anyone missed it, it’s located at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiZQwrxTHPgGdDRrY1IwWWhfWVpEcH AyVUQ0aU9aa0E#gid=0 — mean it’s not open to our edits at the moment. :(
For reference, Olivius is in H-10, Pavanna I-10.

Horatio Aldebrandt |

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Put Horatio in J10. He's not leaving the lovely ladies any time soon. :P
The screams confuse Horatio for an instant, before he catches sight of the goblin scurrying past the wagon. He draws not his rapier, but his violin, twirling the bow between his fingers effortlessly.
"Well well well, looks like the little bastards have decided to crash the party. No matter - let's get them!" With that, he puts the bow to the strings, playing the first few bars of a tavern favourite, A Devil Went Down to Riddleport. As the cheerful notes sing forth, a strange bardic magic flows from his fingertips through the instrument, filling the air and strengthening the hearts of his allies.
Talking as a free action, drawing violin as a move. Inspire Courage as a standard action. All allies get +1 to saving throws, attack rolls, and damage rolls, so factor it all in!

Thirzin Bronzebeard |

Thirzin will go for G10
Thirzin growls low, hearing screams and looking around quickly, trying to locate the source of the issues.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
The little buggers almost evade his gaze in the confusion, but the green color gives them away. He laughs. "Hey, ya little green shits! Come and pick on someone your own size!"
And with that, the dwarf draws his weapon and shield in the same move, his muscles flexed and ready.

DM-Salsa |

Sorry about that, it should be fixed now. I'll put people where they way they are.
Edit: The check was to spot that the shape was a goblin. You can see them quite clearly as the crowd's busy getting away from the mean little snots.

![]() |

Oh, well in that case I went ahead and let an arrow fly at whichever one was nearest me. Probably the one furthest left. Assuming a 23 hits...
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
And on the beginning of its turn, it will take 1 bleed damage and will continue doing so for the next...
Bleed Rounds: 1d6 ⇒ 1
One round. The dice are loving me for this post I see.

Saroune Anzoletta |

Weird. It split my post up.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Saroune looked in the direction of the screams and saw the reason for them. Goblins! The filthy little creatures were raiding Sandpoint! Already, her friends were forming a defensive line against the attack. She needed to help them, but her mind returned to the events of the previous night, where she had been nearly removed from a fight because her defenses were down. She couldn't let that happen again.
She pulled a pair of scrolls from her satchel, a scroll of identify in her right hand and a scroll of shield in her left. She felt a vibration in them, a promise of the latent power they held. She forced part of her will into them and commanded that magic to change. The scrolls twitched to life in her hands, turning into an approximation of a small sword and shield, still paper, but harder than castle-forged steel.
Now armed, Saroune focused another part of her will to coalesce into a protective barrier around her exposed torso. She muttered a few words in Varisian under her breath to complete the spell. Now she was confident she could go toe-to-toe with any goblin
Move Action to draw scrolls, Free Action to activate scroll blade and shield, Standard Action to cast Mage Armor
Now my AC is 18.

Akisame Koetsuji |

Okay I have placed myself.
I move in front of Victoria and ready an action to trip a goblin if it comes within reach.
Ki Throw trip:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 If successful the target will be thrown prone in a square opposite the one he approached from.

Noro_Kas |

OK I thought I posted but cannot find the post (weird) actually I think I clicked preview but never submitted then went out
new perception check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Noro gets up still holding her half full mug and starts to head toward the sound figuresh goblinsh want in on our fun she takes a few steps toward where she recognzed the shape.
shame they can't play nishe
Noro limbers up for another fight and takes another swig of ale.
placed on map

DM-Salsa |

As every one readies for battle, Victoria puts an arrow into one of the goblin's shoulders. Either these goblins are made of sterner stuff than your normal goblin, or these goblins were just hopped up and hyper because of the raid.
As you witness the actions of the goblins, it's probably the latter.
The goblin that Victoria shot rushes up to cut the woman down, but finds itself looking at the night sky after Akisame sends him to the ground. Two more rush Noro, seeing her unarmed bringing a manic gleam to their eyes. One of them misses, but the other manages to cut the fighter on the thigh.
Attack Goblin 2 v. Noro: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Attack Goblin 4 v. Noro: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
A fourth goblin takes a step forward only to be distracted by the food on the wagon that the now dead dog is under. The other two start to rush into the fray, only to bump into each other and start arguing. Elsewhere, shouting and the clang of metal arms and armor echo throughout the town, but even the sounds of battle are not half as loud as the song coming from the lips of the goblin warchanters.
Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblins cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!
Goblins race and goblins jump
Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!
Chase the baby, catch the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,
We be goblins! You be food!
While the lyrics are horrid, the worst thing about the goblin song is how damn catchy it is, seeming to burrow into the ear and echoing about the head.
Goblin 1 is prone, Goblins 2 and 4 attacked Noro, Goblin 3 is grabbing a snack. Goblins 5 and 6 are in the middle of an argument.
Party up, do you shake your head in pity, or do you laugh?

Thirzin Bronzebeard |

Thirzin smirks. "Catchy tunes, runts! But let's see how well ya sing when you're dead! And with that, he takes a series of quick steps forward ( to G9), striking at the goblin directly in front of him (gob gob 2).
Cut a Gob: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 11
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
That roll sucks! More booze!

Akisame Koetsuji |

I throw the beast to the ground and laugh. "Such reckless little monsters these goblins." I then Proceed to grapple the creature using my Flurry of Maneuvers technique.
First attack of Flurry to Grapple:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Likely that fails I attempt to grapple again:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 and a success, the goblin is both grappled and prone.
I stand above the goblin and put it into a grapple hold as I hold it to the ground.

![]() |

Victoria watches as Akisame takes down the Goblin that was rushing her and grins. "Well, played Akisame. Thank you."
She then takes a step beside Akisame and lets fly another arrow, deciding to save her bleeding arrows this time. Her eyes glow at the goblin as she lets her bow speak for what her detection tells her.
------
Free Action: 5 foot step to F-5
Standard Action: Shoot Goblin 4
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 (Oh, missed Horatio's inspire courage. So 15 to hit)
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 (And 9 damage)
Move Action: Detect Evil on Goblin 4

Olivius Telraven |

Olivius sees two goblins off to the right get into a fight and smiles. Little fools. He fixes his eyes on the goblin engaged with Thirzin. Better to focus fire than worry about the distracted pair. He looks at Pavanna with a gleam in his eye that is completely different from the gleam of hope and joy that the prospect of learning magic brought him.
It was killing time.
Without talking his eyes off her he says to Horatio and Saroune, Limp-wrist! Fall around behind Thirzin! Saroune! . He glances over to make sure the Mage was hearing and is shocked to find her armed with...Paper? This must be the new style she mentioned. He grins Make sure Horatio doesn't get a paper cut. And try to keep up!
With a shout he charges the goblin engaged with Thirzin.
Charge: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 12
Charge attack on Goblin 2 ending in H7
AC is 19 for this round.
Everyone remembered the bard's bonus, right?

Noro_Kas |

Noro flinches slightly at the slash the goblin inflicted on her.
Now I am angry
Noro lets out a roar as slams down hard with her elbow on the goblin's head in front of her.
rage, attack on goblin 4 with her free hand (other hand holding her ale)
attack on goblin 4: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 1 = 21
damage on goblin 4: 1d3 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 10
AC: 12
HP: 14 / 18
rage used 1 / 7

Horatio Aldebrandt |

"I assure you, good sir, my wrists are flexible and supple, not limp!" Horatio laughs good-naturedly, though his pride stings from the insult. He swings his bow into his left hand, draws his rapier with his right, and begins closing the distance to the nearby goblins. Even though they're probably dead by now.
Double-move - first to draw rapier, second to move to H8. Maintaining bardic performance as a free action; 6 rounds remaining.

Pavanna Alazario |

Olivius’ charge, and the fearful blow he lands at its end, is not much of a surprise to Pavanna; Saroune’s ability to shape written words into actual armaments is a little more unexpected, and she makes a mental note to ask her Varisian friend more about it later.
Dammit, Horatio, I said stay close! Pavanna growls to herself, then makes her own move, the strains of A Devil Went Down to Riddleport still echoing in her head and warring with that damnably catchy goblin tune.
Move action: normal movement from H-10 to I-7, to maintain a united front with Olivius (and in front of Horatio)
Swift action: activate Archaeologist’s Luck (+1 to attack and damage, skill checks, saving throws)
Standard action: ready a melee attack to cut down the next goblin that comes within her reach.
If needed: Melee attack, masterwork longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Longsword damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
(Well, that happened. At least the near-miss(?) should keep the little beggar(s)’ interest on Pavanna, rather than a squishier target....)

Horatio Aldebrandt |

Stay close? There's heroics to be done, and I don't have a ranged weapon with me. You can punish me for it later. :P

Saroune Anzoletta |

Saroune rushed to Noro's side to help her against the goblins. Careful to avoid the barbarian's wide swings, she stabbed at the little monster.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Critical Chance: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10

DM-Salsa |

In a flurry of movement most of the party misses the nimble goblins. Noro, however bashes one of their heads in and causes his fellow to wet himself just before being beheaded by Saroune. The other three seem to remember that there's a fight going on and join the fray.
Goblin 3 v. Victoria: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
The one that had been grabbing some food rushes forward and takes a stab at the young paladin. The crude blade leaves a sting cut across the back of her thigh as she tries to twist out of the way.
Goblin 5 v. Pavanna: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Goblin 6 v. Pavanna: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
The two goblins that had been arguing rush up to Pavanna, but their attacks fare worse than the one against Victoria. One misses completely and the other has his blade turned aside by the woman's shield.
Goblin 1 Escape Artist v. Akisame CMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
The last living goblin struggles against Akisame's choke-hold squealing, "Lemme go! Lemme go! Lemme go!" in high-pitched common.
Party up. Two goblins dead, one grappled, and three fighting.

Olivius Telraven |

As soon as the goblin in front of him dies, Olivius hears the patter of running feet and knows the arguing goblins have joined the fray. He sees one attack Victoria, but she is too far to help as he is sure he now has goblins at his back. He reverses grip on his spear and spins to the right, spear head leading in a deadly downward arc, but Olivius is trained against taller foes and his attack is a high miss.
attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 = 8
Stupid dice
But my AC is back to a wonderfully high 21. :)

Thirzin Bronzebeard |

Seeing the gob fall, Thirzin moves (H5) and swings for the next one (Gob 5).
Slice: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 11
1d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6

![]() |

Victoria is less than happy with the fact that she was wounded, turning on the goblin that was probably a little too chipper with its handy work, she spaces herself a little and snapped off another shot, this time bringing righteous fury with it.
"Evil creatures, may the wrongs of your intent and your acts be forever written in your blood this night!"
-------
Free Action: 5 foot step to F-6
Swift Action: Smite Goblin 2 (+3 attacks and AC, +1 Damage)
Standard Action: Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 1 + 3 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 6
Free Action: Speak

Horatio Aldebrandt |

"Here, let me get that for you!" Horatio moves around Olivius, clutching his violin and bow behind his back. With a flourish, he lunges forward with his rapier, attempting to skewer the goblin.
Rapier: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 2 + 1 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Move as a move action, attack on Goblin 5 as standard. Talking and maintaining performance as free actions.

Akisame Koetsuji |

I have the goblin down I attempt another series of maneuvers. Two grapple maneuvers, one to pin the goblin, one to tie it up. I gain a +5 competence bonus to my grapple checks since I an the controlling grappler and the goblin did not break free of the grapple last round.
1d20 + 5 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 5 - 1 = 20
1d20 + 5 + 5 - 10 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 5 - 10 - 1 = 15 -10 for attempting to tie up the target.
As I attempt the tie up I say."Now hold still while I bind you, if you please." I tie him up.
If I have successfully tied up the goblin then it is a DC 23 for it to escape the rope.
I know I forgot to specify this when combat started but I do have a rope handy and ready to complete the tie up action. I have four in my inventory along with a few manacles.

Noro_Kas |

Noro, Mug still in hand and feeling confident in her ability walks forward past Victoria toward the goblin just past her.
when reaching the goblin and using her movement as a bit of momentum Noro strikes with a forward knee thrust connecting (hopefully) with the buggers face.
attack on Goblin 3: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 = 24
damage: 1d3 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 10
AC: 12
HP: 14 / 18
rage used 2 / 7

Horatio Aldebrandt |

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 20
A natural 20 on an untrained Perception check has to count for something. :P Also, ending bardic performance; 5 rounds remaining.
