Tal Bernard Mainz |

Is Gunther still up or is he down since no init for him? Wondering if Tal has a chance to step up and go after the succubus?

Richard Holysmith |

Richard switches his inspiration to Inspire Courage +2, to help his teammates hit harder (this stacks with Good Hope)
He tries to identify the demon's resistances.
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 2 = 30
He then tries to grapple the (hopefully tripped) Katerine, hoping to prevent her from complicating things.
This provokes an AoO from Katerine.
Grapple vs CMD: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 25
"Quickly! Banish the demon to the hells she came from!"

Tal Bernard Mainz |

If Gunther is down Tal steps up to attack the succubus. If he is still up then Tal will attack with the flat of his blade stepping up if possible for his second strike.
Power attack inspired keen +1 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 for 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
Iterative 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 for 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
Power attack inspired keen +1 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32-4 if subdual for 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Threat 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26 for 1d8 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

Duke Dixon |

I missed everyone was up!
Duke sees a small opening and takes it, trying to get to the far side of the girl.
2 squares, so I might need to rolls?
Acrobatics, Move By: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38
Acrobatics, Move By: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
If he makes it...
Spinning around, he tries to hit the girl hard enough to stun her while trying not to do too much permanent damage.
Attack, NL, Power: 1d20 + 14 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 14 - 2 = 29
Damage, NL: 1d8 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 4 = 16

Noah Sampson |

Noah says a brief prayer and a scimitar made of force appears in front of the succubus and attacks her.
Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 1 = 25 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Spiritual Weapon Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

DM RichD |

For Gunter and Katerine, I will use the Noble Scion
Between Tal and Duke, Gunter is knocked out and Richard trips Katerine. Duke just about renders Katerine unconscious.
Noah's spiritual weapon misses the succubus.
Tal misses the demon.
Richard knows that succubus have some resistance to weapons that are not good or cold iron. He easily grapples the prone Katerine.
Did we lose Krayn?
The succubus smiles an evil grin. This could have been such a pleasant encounter!
She will attack Tal with her energy drain attack!
@Tal: DC22 Fort Save or 1 negative level

Richard Holysmith |

Succubus's AC is at least 26. Don't forget Good Hope and Inspire Courage +2 stack.
"I have a cold iron longsword. Can anyone bless weapons for good? Either weapon will easily pierce her hide." Richard continues to Inspire Courage among his allies.
With Katerine unconscious, he draws his longsword. "Anyone wants it? If not... it's time to face my outer demon." Richard points with his sword and casts Allegro to Hasten himself.

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Fort save 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 23 protection from evil and good hope!
Only due to the efforts and protections from Noah and Richard is Tal able to withstand the debilitating touch of the succubus. Hoping to whittle her down Tal continues to focus on her and ignore Richard groping the charmed woman in the ground.
Power attack inspire courage good hope +1 keen 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23 for 1d8 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
Iterative 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19 for 1d8 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
My rolls have been atrocious in all my games lately…do t know why I even bother.

Duke Dixon |

"Cold iron? I should've thought of that." Duke steps forward and starts pummeling the succubus.
Duke's fists are +1, but that won't be enough to overcome cold iron DR. But at least Pummeling style will use all damage together as one hit for purposes of overcoming DR. Also, map looks out of date, but Duke should now be next to demon at back wall.

The weapon of force attacks the succubus again. Noah then calls out for Sarenrae to help his friends.
Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 1 = 20 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Blessing of Fevor: Each round you may choose one of:

Sherix |

Sherix begins to focus her constant Detect Evil spell-like ability to scan the cloud for the evil temptress.
Round 1 of 3. I assume she finds evil.

Richard Holysmith |

"Falter not, heroes. We will find her and rid the world of her evil stain." He continues to Inspire Courage, but takes a hard gulp as he enters the cloud.
If Jovoriah hasn't moved, he takes one long look at her before swinging his cold iron blade. "You're a bit too extreme for my tastes, sadly. Any sane, non cannibal sisters in your family?"
Good Hope, Allegro and Inspire Courage applies to these rolls
Cold Iron Longsword: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 32
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 2 + 2 = 13
Miss Chance, 20 or under is a miss: 1d100 ⇒ 4
The mist is too thick.

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Tal looks around at the most gathering about him and shakes his head in frustration. Thankfully he could still see the succubus’s shape in the clouds so he knew where to target his strikes. Hopefully he was more accurate this time…

DM RichD |

Round 3
Duke manages to land a solid punch on the demon.
Tal also manages a solid blow.
Richard misses his attack!
She will try to rake Duke with her claws.
Attack Claw 1: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Getting a sense of the Succubus tactics Tal presses forward through the mist bringing his sword around twice in great sweeping arcs.

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Without the protections of the mist Tal hopes to bring down the succubus before it has a chance to summon anything else.

Richard Holysmith |

Yaay we caught her before she teleported! Definitely the most annoying aspect of demons.
Richard pants and controls his breathing. "Alas..." He sheathes his blade and stops inspiring. "Gunther, Katarine... shall we revive them?" He pulls out his wand of Cure Light Wounds and gets to work.
Help Gunter: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Help Katarine: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
"Stay calm. We are in the mayor's manor. Overtaken by evil." He gestures to the pile of sin lying next to the bed. "She... was a horrible demon. She must have dominated your minds and was planning to eat you once she got bored. But she's dead now."
Diplomacy, Good Hope: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 15 + 2 = 24

Duke Dixon |

Duke puts something over the demon to keep it out of sight, and then helps Richard fix the townsfolk up.
"You were lucky we came when we did. I wonder how many unlucky souls came before you."
Diplomacy aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Tal wipes the ichor from his blade before sheathing it. He lets Richard and Duke tend to the 2 captivated individuals. While they tend to them Tal looks around the room.
Perception 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Nice job guys. That could have been much worse.

Noah Sampson |

Noah approaches the two and says "Please allow me to look you over and make sure you have no permanent wounds or other afflictions from the demon."
Heal Gunther: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Heal Katarine: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

DM RichD |

Once the demon falls, whatever mental hold she had over them also falls. They are badly bruised and who knows what mental anguish will remain.
Gunther speaks up. Thank you. She did unspeakable acts to us and also had us do them with each other. I was aware what was happening but was unable to stop it.
Katerine adds, I was still virtuous before that demon and now I am ruined. She sobs uncontrollably.
Joriavah has decorated this chamber with 2,000 gp in jewelry and silks stolen from noble villas she’s burgled over the past several days. The stiletto upon which she’s impaled unfortunate Veladness’s head is the dead tiefling’s weapon, a +1 keen mithral dagger.
You also see a strange rod. One end of this strange 4-pound, 2-foot long, rodlike device is a weird twisting knot of metal branches and coils. This device radiates moderate transmutation magic.
Joriavah has +1 studded leather armor, +1 frost hand crossbow with 20 bolts.

Richard Holysmith |

Richard sits with the two. "For now, all I can do is help your physical injuries. The mental scars will heal, yet never fully go away. Be strong, and remember other people are also suffering; take your revenge on those wrongdoers."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Once he calms them down, he takes an opportunity to study the rod.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Sherix |

She's quite beautiful... and terrifying. Sherix rustles herself and flits about. She takes a look around the room of ill-gotten gains. "We should identify as much of this as we can so we can return it to the rightful owners."
She picks up the dagger. "Does anyone want this?"

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Tal feels sorry for the 2 nobles but has no way of helping them. The others were better with words and had a more delicate approach. He would simply have them try to work through the grief at a forge releasing frustrations on the Red hot metal. Somehow he didn’t think they were the type to swing a hammer by the looks of their uncalloused hands. Instead Tal just goes about rounding up the items for later dispersal. He does add his 2 cp to the talk. Just remember who it was that saved you and should we need to call in a favor you promise you will help.
Tal looks at the dagger that is offered and shrugs his head no. That is too small for me. I can’t get a good grip on it so power my blows. It is a fine weapon though for someone else.

Sherix |

"Tiny? This thing is huge!" She struggles to flutter up with the thing wrapping her arms around the hilt.
She looks at Richard consoling the two nobles. "He's finding himself again. Thanks for helping him, Tal."

Richard Holysmith |

Understandable.
"Come on. Stand up." Richard helps them. "We need to get you out of here, but... hmm. We also need to tell the others that the sin was vanquished." He thinks.
"Maybe we should get everyone back to our home, now. These two and the tieflings. They need to recover. We need to recover." He fights an urge to shudder as he glances at the bloodied cloth.
"As for the brainwashed captain, we can tell him the tieflings are the nobles' escorts, and they are done inspecting the area. I can do the talking."

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Tal nods to Sherix, It is good to see him returning to his old self again. There is a fire within him now that is driving him.
When Richard mentions bringing the nobles back Tal agrees. They won’t make it far without someone looking after them. Let’s hurry though so others don’t make it down here to reinforce this place. No problem letting you do the talking.
Tal grabs the rest of the stuff in this room before leaving but hopefully Richard identifies the metal object before someone grabs it.

DM RichD |

Just before you exit the ruined complex you behold a terrible sight.
Red will not be reporting to Tal's forge tomorrow or any day for that matter. You see his naked body pinned to a wall spread eagle. Crude spikes have been driven through his hands and feet and that is what is keeping the body aloft. He has been cut from his throat to his groin and his entrails are spilling out.
Jalki's headless, naked body has also been propped in a corner with his arms placed in such a manner as to give the illusion that he is carrying his own head. On his chest is carved the words, "For each one that you save, I will destroy! - Corasel"
The tieflings were not given any grotesque display of death, rather they have been torn apart and their body parts have been strewn around the room.
Katerine faints at the sight and Gunter dry heaves.

Richard Holysmith |

"You will pay for this, Corasel." Richard mumbles and then tightens the grip on his whip. "They died free. Meanwhile your master will flay your soul for generations to come."
He finally looks up at his allies. "Let's get Katerine and Gunter out of here. We need to rethink this approach."

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Tal takes in the sight of those that they ‘rescued’ and internalizes his anger. There is nothing to rethink. We continue with what we are suppose to do. We shut down everything underground and kill whomever and whatever gets in our way. Those that agree to side with us are free to leave or continue with us. Simple as that. The only thing that changes is that when we find Croseal I will take more pleasure in gutting her and sticking her head on a pole and Plano ring it in the middle of the grounds for all to see.
He then throws Katherine over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and carries her to the exit.

Richard Holysmith |

Would they even be safe with their parents? Hideout first to get them calmed down, and then take them home.
Richard nods grimly. He enjoyed being the hero, but Corseal pushed him beyond justice. A piece of him couldn't wait to vanquish her.

Tal Bernard Mainz |

Wait the hideout? I thought we meant just past the guards.
Just so we are all on the same page just where are we taking these 2? I was thinking just past the guard post and let them go after that. Then we can return here quickly to find Croseal.
Also what was the result of Richards check with the metal rod?
