M Human (mutt) Unchained Rogue 6/Trickster 1 (AC21 T17 F15 CMD22; 22/53HP; F+4 R+13 W+4; Init+3; P+11+)

Visibly wincing as he is dependent on the subtlety of a plated dwarf for his ability to remain unnoticed, Terry moves along with the group. Even as Khaz begins trying to force a way in, Terry offers a step-boost up towards the balcony for Jocasta (or Lorena, but I figure Jocasta's a better vanguard).

Mass Combat Round 4:

Good guys: hp 16 DV 18; OM +8 ranged
Bad Guys: hp 9 DV 12; OM +4

Good: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Bad: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Basically you have to be the DV (Defensive value) to wound the army, since I have rolled Terribly no one has done anything

Both armies are unable to get a hold upon the other, the Paladins are now bogged up on their mounts and the Tieflings are unable to penetrate the plate of the Paladins.

Khaz boots the door in, almost right off it's hinges. Inside you see a small entry room with some rain slicks inside and some boots. To the right (south) is a door that is presently closed but could be a kitchen from wat you looked through outside and straight a head (East) is an opening that leads into a small sitting room.

From behind, Jocasta watches Khaz's back as the team pushes into the tower. She glances over her shoulder, sword in hand, and waits for the dwarf to make his move into the structure, ready to pick a doorway to secure.

Figuring that a kitchen was the least of their worries, Khaz motioned for the group to keep an eye on the door nonetheless, and follow him into the sitting room.

Khaz makes his way into the sitting room, there is a small table here with cups on it. There is also a platter of food, from what you can tell it looks like the Fjord was hit while they were chatting. 4 chairs are in this room as well, a set of papers on the table with a split ink well, a stair case the the second floor you would guess is at the back of this room.

M Human (mutt) Unchained Rogue 6/Trickster 1 (AC21 T17 F15 CMD22; 22/53HP; F+4 R+13 W+4; Init+3; P+11+)

Anything moving in the kitchen? I mean, he's unlikely to see anything hidden with that roll, but . . ..

Terry see's the kitchen is well stocked, there is a cold chest as well. Like the sitting room the kitchen appears like they were attacked in the middle of preparing a meal and stuff is just left out on the counter and on the now cold stove top.

Still hidden in her shadow cloak, Lorena follows Khaz into the sitting room, taking a closer look at the table and the papers on it while keeping an eye and ear on the staircase, in case anyone is coming down.

Khaz will take 10 on Perception, moving from room to room. With the battle raging outside we can’t take too long in here, speed is still important. But we also can’t charge in blind and screaming. Taking 10 seems like a good mid point

Firinn arrives in the doorway and waits there, his attention mostly on the staircase.

Firinn being the last one in sees the battle starts to turn in your armies favor, many of the tieflings are cut down as are some of your own army. Firinn turns as he begins to see the rout that is taking place.

Lorena sees that the meals were disturbed and by playing a quick hand on them they are stone cold. Figuring this means that this Fjord was taking more than a day ago. No one hears anyone coming down the stairs or anyone up the stairs.

No map,if you need more description ask please. Your army beat the Teifling one in 1 roll as shown in the spoiler, your army took 3 damage so that means some people were injured/killed

Default? We set a default already, didn't we?

Flips back through the recent posts . . .. So, no. Uhhh . . .. Khaz, Jocasta, Terry, Lorena, Firinn? Terry, Khaz, Jocasta, Lorena, Firinn? Depending on whether we are pushing through are looking for traps, right?

Khaz takes the lead as even if there is a trap there isn't much room once people are on the stairs to maneuver. Once he makes the top this area is wide open, the smell of burnt flesh assails him once he gets there. Looking around quickly Khaz moves up to the floor allowing the others to fan out with him. this room is almost all windows to allow the Fjord commander to have a full 360 degree view of their surroundings, two burnt bodies lay on the floor just beside the door that leads to the balcony.

K Religion DC 15:

They bear the burnt unholy symbols of Deskari

They both look a bit out of place here and look as if they were caught unaware, neither of the bodies have a weapon and their mundane armor is burnt beyond repair. On the desk if burnt paper but other than that there is scorch mars along some of the windows and floor.

"Cultists of Deskari, looks like...but, burnt to death? Hm. Was it the wardstones? No, the tiefling army outside is still..." She takes a look out the window to see the paladin army chasing down the stragglers. "...well, was intact. Someone got here before us, it seems." She heads over to the desk and takes a look to see if she can make out anything on the burnt papers, or whatever else is left.

Sorry been a long week off for the kids and things going on

The group sorts through burnt pieces of paper, Lanneth finds in the desk a ledger of some troop movements with some pages torn out. Khaz and the rest find bits and scraps of paper and other items that would normally be in a commandering officers office.

Perception DC 20:

You find what looks like a note written in Abyssal, you can make out "Don't Fail to stop them at the Fjord."

Everyone gets the sense that someone is missing, having a quick look around you see that Firinn hasn't come up the stairs yet.

"Don't fail to stop them at the fjord? But it is in Abyssal, so it would be instructions to stop somebody on our side, right? Let me guess, the fjord's on our route, right?"

As he's talking, Terry's gaze drifts amongst the group.

"Wait! Where's Firinn?"

"Hmm?" Jocasta turns in place. "Hang on. I'll go back and see what happened." Sword out, she advances cautiously to the rear.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Jocasta makes her way outside, as she does she sees the last of the Teiflings being rounded up and some of your own Knights being tended too. One knight is clearly dead with about 10 daggers sticking out of him. To North Jocasta can see a figure flying along the river bed but far enough away that she cannot make it out. On the ground Jocasta finds a few arrows that look like they have fallen.

You guys are current at the Fjord to cross into the World Wound

Jocasta hands one of the Arrows to Terry who quickly scanning it notices Firinn's mark on the arrow.

Lorena scans the upper room quickly again noting nothing else of significane and comes down stairs to meet with the others. "What is going on?" Lorena ask.

As she does this the group notes that Irabeth and the other commanders come riding over. Aravashnial and Horgus in the middle with Sosiel still leading the troops in the final clean up and healing.

"We have won out the Fjord, we have found some survivors as well. What did you find in here?" Irabeth asks

M Human (mutt) Unchained Rogue 6/Trickster 1 (AC21 T17 F15 CMD22; 22/53HP; F+4 R+13 W+4; Init+3; P+11+)

"So, this is one of Firinn's arrows, but the point doesn't look like it hit anything. Might have been dropped? Where did you find this?"

-----------

"Okay. so they were expecting someone. But they seem to have been expecting a weaker group. That might work to our advantage, until they realize we've won out."

Go with Jocasta telling you what I told her so people konw.

"We have some wounded and 2 reported causalities." Irabeth turns and reports to Khaz. "there are many dangers in the Would Wound as you all know, hopefully he didn't go running off after a Cultist who slipped away and got lost."

So long as they are together it will be done quickly.” He replied, his face serious. ”Ye did well out there, leading the men to victory. Well done. We will need to be cautious as we move forward. The enemy knows we are coming.”

"Still no sign of Firinn, though. I'm worried. What if he was captured?" Jocasta says uneasily.

Make sure that the enemy isn’t rallying, and we’ll tell them to keep an eye out for him.” Khaz said, feeling uneasy but feeling the necessity to put on a brave face.

"We did yes, they are being tended to right now by Sosiel. We would like you to come with us to meet the Fjord commander and maybe she will be able to shed some light on what happened here." Irabeth says before leading you off to the east a bit, before you looms a large cliff face with a natural cavern system. Inside are room for men and women to stay in while defending the Fjord, there is carnage inside here as well, blood stains the floor and bodies have been covered with sheets for burial.

Irabeth leads you a bit deeper inside to where 6 men and women lay on cots with bandages upon them. Irabeth takes you to a woman with broad shoulders, no scars mark her face but you can see the horrors that must haunt her. "This is the woman in charge of the Fjord, This is Commander Khaz of the Knights of Kenabres."

I forget her name I will find it later and put it up, you can talk and ask questions as you wish

For social situations like this, everyone please feel free to speak up as well

The woman struggles to sit up, Irabeth moves up to give her a hand to sit at the side of the cot.

"I want to thank you for coming to our aid, how did you know that we had been attacked?" She says taking a cup of water offered to her from Irabeth. "I am Kamilo Dann, leader here at the Fjord. Beyond here lays entrance to the World Wound Many of those who wish to ride out come through here."

"They came at us during the night, it really was only a small contingent of soldiers kept to guard the Fjord, we could have a rider out and towards Kenabres in no time to get reinforcements or to warn of an approaching enemy." Kamilo takes another sip of water. "I can tell you that last night some strange creature flew off with 2 of my soldiers towards the north. Something about sacrifices I heard."

Suppressing a chill, Jocasta says, "I wonder if that's what happened to Firinn. We should check it out."

”That we should. It isn’t like Firinn to vanish like that. And their sacrifices usually take some time. If we send a large force then it will tip off the foes. If it is just us though, we may be able to get in and hit them hard.” Khaz said, thoughtfully. Then turning back to Kamilo: ”Can ye provide us a guide? Someone who knows these lands who can lead us to them?”

"We can accompany you if you give us a bit of time to rest, there is a Way station along the river bed and up the cliff that was once held by the Church of Iori, I have heard there could still be supplies there." Kamilo says.

This will bring you back up to 100 strong

"We could use their aid as they have experience in the World Wound and we cannot just leave them here." Irabeth says.

The Army continues to clean out the Fjord, taking the bodies of the Teiflings and putting them into a mass grave then lighting it on fire. Most people steer clear of the fire pit, your own dead are buried in the cave system for later retrieval and sanctification. Night beings to approach and Kamilo tells you that travelling at night is not a good idea.

"The church of Irori... interesting. That sounds worthwhile," chimes in Jocasta. "Although I don't know how many supplies a bunch of monastic ascetics will have. Still, we should at least check in. Everything's going to Hell, pun intended, we should make sure they're all right behind their monastery walls."

"Then we will set out at first like, I will go prep the men for camp and tell them what out plans are for tomorrow." Irabeth tells the group before departing.

What does everyone want to do?

Since leaving the tower, Lorena has stayed mostly silent, giving little more than a word or two in reply to anyone. It's clear that Firinn's disappearance is troubling her. In all her years, this was the first dependable group of allies - friends, even - that she'd come across. And now one of them just vanished into thin air...

In any case, the tiefling goes along with the motions of life, not letting her mood affect her readiness to fight. As night approaches and the army prepares to set up camp, Lorena pulls herself out of her silence, offering to help keep watch overnight.

”Aye Jocasta has the right of it. Anything this far out would be hard pressed to stay safe, sane or uncorrupted. It would be remiss of us to not check in.”

Khaz will spend the night seeing to the men, and ensuring that all is ready for the continued march.

"I haven't been there myself but I would be surprised to know if they still occupied that place themselves or someone or something else hasn't taken over it. Isn't really on the path but we should be able to get up to it." Aron says.

The next day they army gathers up, supplies are taken and a messenger bird is sent back to Kenabres to tell of what you have found so far and that the Fjord needs reinforcements, the day again passes uneventfully. Being in The World Wound is very alien as what you would think were normal plants are perverted and changed by the Chaos energies infusing everything here.

Any mid day thoughts?
