Alden has an evil grin as he swings his Flail with vengence, hellfire pouring forth from his eyes and weapon.

The gremlin dodges the Stranger, but Leonides sends it's crossbow flying. As it's looking at empty hands Alden stomps up and crushes it with his flaming flail.
COMBAT OVER
In the flicking light of the burning gremlin's remains, you realize you've fought your way right to the entrance of the Vault. Algae and moss slick the first four stairs in a short flight of steps that rises to a stone and steel door worked with designs of riders on horseback. Etched into the center of the door is a horse head emblem with a fleck of ruby-red glass for an eye. The edges of the door bear depictions of Shoanti on horseback fighting horned, winged monsters.
According to Sascha's instructions, there should be a javelin trap rigged to the door somehow.

"I'm going to have a look at the cave while Burns figures this door out, there may be a back way in", Ugly moves off, expecting someone to back him up.

cant take 20 if failure has an effect, i could have taken 10 but did not think 15 would do it.
There is no penalty for failing to find the trap. Disarming it, however, is a different story.
The Stranger heads back down the passage to check the side tunnel, but finds nothing in it but some sewer garbarge stuffed in the back.
Sark examines the vault door, but Leonides spots the trap first. A javelin is set in small hole in the doors, set to fire at anyone trying to open them.

Ugly has darkvision, he doesn't normally need the light. Plus, he has already done a cursory search of the cave. Would you like to make a more thorough search?

Sark gets out his masterwork tools and tries to disable the trap. Toying with the trap he starts to get a bad feeling about the trap...
The Stranger clears away some of the garbage in the small tunnel and discovers the remnants of an old secret door, now cracked and broken from a small cave-in. It cannot be opened further, and only a tiny creature (such as a gremlin) could hope to squeeze through to the area beyond. It's difficult to look through, but the Stranger is able to make out a little bit of a large chamber beyond. Strewn across the floor are broken old tools and weapons.
Meanwhile, over at the vault door...

Sark accidentally sets off the trap instead of disabling it and the spear in the door launches into his shoulder. A burning spreads from the wound, but Sark pulls the spear quick enough to avoid suffering the full effect of whatever poison Sascha forgot to mention coated the thing. 8 damage - no poison. The trap does not reset.

Sark swallows a cry out as the spear comes cleaning through his shoulder, but his quick reflexes saves him from the poison. He lets out a small cry when he pulls the spear out though. "I was told there would be days like this by my trainers, just didnt expect every mission would have them in them!" As haku comes towards him with his wand Sark is glad it was not that healing alden offered, until Alden suddenly smacks him with his heal stick and sark watches in horror as the effect knits up his wounds.
"ouch ewwww really Alden? this magic is of the darkness kind, i already got demon blood flowing through my veins, no telling what effect it would have on me as well! Well i guess it goes the job but cant you get a nicely wand to heal with?"
Sark checks to see if not lock then says "Well i taken enough punishment for today, anyone else want to take lead for a while..."

I don't think so; the demonic equivalent would be Abyssal Healing, and I don't know if that exists in the game. Besides, Alden is an Asmodean, so claiming demonic influence from his healing would be something of an insult. They're touchy in Cheliax....

Past the stone door, the coarse brick of the sewers gives way to cut stone block construction with corbeled arch ceilings that peak at a height of ten feet. Sturdy wooden doors line the walls, though years of mildewed neglect have eaten away at the facades.

Incidentally, I skimmed over Sark's post about the demon blood and thought it was his reaction to the infernal healing; hadn't clicked that he was a tiefling.

Haku begins to help look for the loose flagstone, mulling about going slowly from square to square in search.
Moving forward you don't find any loose flagstones yet, but each door in these halls opens into a cramped cell. Throughout this vault’s history, these have served as burial niches, sleeping quarters, prison cells, or storage depending upon the needs of the present inhabitants. Most of the doors are unlocked, but a handful are locked.
Once inside, you also notice a passage leading off to the west with stairs leading down into darkness.

Sark finds no traps, but is unable to easily open the doors. Taking 10 won't cut it.
