Quiven jumps on the table and double moves to a flanking position on one of the assassins!
Acrobatics?: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

DM Rah |

Leastrie spins, slashing around himself with an advanced form of bladework that leave both Ceralan and the servant assassin wounded.
Omrax then runs the elf through with his holy magic lance. Ceralan looks at the glowing weapon in astonishment, then falls to the floor in defeat.
Quiven leaps to the table and closes distance.
With their leader is down, the servants change tactics. The one facing Leastrie and the one near Quiven and Fredrik step away from threats, grab bottles from their belts and drink them, and fade from sight. The third steps around Talhaearn and throws a punch at him.
Attack on Talhaearn: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Unable to edit the map at the moment. Two servants are invisible. The one on Talhaearn stepped 5' to the SW.

Quiven attacks the enemy that he has currently flanked!

Watching closely as the man steps back, Leastrie intones a word in Elven and fills the area with wispy, translucent, purple and green flames.
Faerie Fire at the last place he saw the the nearest man.

![]() |

(Moved the guy by Mordrak and Talhaearn.)
Friend Omrax, friend Quiven...you may want to be moving quickly, friends. I am apologizing in advance if I, ah, for to misplace this spell...
Does Mordrak have a good idea where the other two were? If so, he'll ready to drop a glitterdust in that area (avoiding getting Ofarah), once Omrax and Quiven get out of the area.

DM Rah |

Quiven, that servant moved and went invisible (as did the one next to Quiven and Fredrik). However, Leastrie's faerie fire just revealed one of them - he is in the spot just South of Ofarah and not immediately in a position to be flanked (Ofarah is unarmed and in full defense).
Mordrak, you are pretty certain you can get both invisible servants, which would free up Leastrie to change his action since he goes after you in the initiative order.

![]() |

Yep. No problem changing action, was just excited to use Leastrie's shiny new SLA from his level in Lantern Bearer.
Oh, now I'm a little bummed I took away your new shiny. :-( Sorry!

It's fine! This was the first time I got to use Whirlwind Attack as well!

Omrax will move up to stab the now glittery thug at the end of the table by Ofarah.
"You should have surrendered for you cannot hide. "
holy lance, pa: 1d20 + 11 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 1 - 2 = 12 damage : 1d8 + 6 + 6 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 6 + 1 + (5, 1) = 21 vs evil?
Omrax manages to stab on of the chairs instead.

![]() |

Ah, I wasn't sure if he had moved or not. Once he gets hit with the glitterdust I could simply take a 5' step SW and use my attacks, just take away the +2 for flanking and ignore the sneak damage so that I don't waste the rolls.

![]() |

Leastrie circles around Ofarah, slicing at the northern thug as he passes, before stopping at the southern end of the room.
Spring Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Can't edit map atm. Using Spring Attack to move, attack northern thug, then end up west of the southern thug.

DM Rah |

Leastrie takes down one assassin and sets up Quiven and Fredrik to take down another.
The last assassin, injured and badly outnumbered, steps away from Talhaearn and drinks his own potion, fading into invisibility.

Leastrie's magic reveals the final assassin before he can escape or cause more trouble. Unarmed, lightly armored, injured, and surrounded, he is quickly defeated.
With the threat over Ofarah approaches with a hand to a wound. "I am eternally grateful for your help. The Society did well to send such capable Pathfinders." Though injured she waves off your help, and when her guards arrive they tend to her with healing potions. Looking over at Ceralan, she sighs. "I am sorry my new friends. I should have realized it was not him - the Ceralan I once knew."
Searching the assassins, you recover 3 potions of cure moderate wounds, 3 suits of +1 padded armor, a suit of +1 studded leather, +1 ring of protection, a normal rapier, a composite longbow (+1 Str), and a Note.

So, what's this bit about violating laws and stuff? Quiven asks bluntly.

DM Rah |

"All is not as it seems." Ofarah says. "Please, let us speak in private."
Leading your group back to her private chambers the Lioness of Lamasara reveals her true motivations.
“Thank you again for your noble efforts in preventing my untimely demise. As recompense for your deeds, I offer you the prize that motivated this entire party.
“Every year, villains and madmen, generally rich from their own evil ways, bid against one another for the sacred sun orchid elixir produced and distributed solely by my homeland of Thuvia. I tire of seeing the people of the world suffer because those most able to win our auctions are those who wish to do their subjects harm. This year, however, I’m going to ensure that a noble and worthy candidate has a true shot at winning a draught of the elixir, stealing it from the lips of the vile.
“Each Lamasaran city has a secret vault in which it keeps records of past auctions and other valuables. The locations, names, and contents of these vaults are kept hidden even from other Thuvian cities to ensure no one city ever gains more power than the others. Lamasara’s vault is called the Conundrum, and were one to gain access to it, the information one would find within could prove invaluable. If one could navigate the tests and traps therein, and survive the guardians placed there to watch over our most treasured secrets, the information in the vault would be available to do with as one pleased. It would be illegal for me to divulge this information to anyone, but there are some situations the law does not cover.
“Here, each of you take one of these potions. It will turn your form into that of mere vapor, and will allow you to pass through this ring gate to the Conundrum." Ofarah gestures to an iron ring, each about 18 inches in diameter, mounted like art upon the wall nearby. "Inside you will find a set of identical potions to allow you to return. More than this I cannot offer you. I simply wish you luck, and send you on your way.”

![]() |

Wait, we are just supposed to trust that there is somewhere to go to and also a way back? And we do it by turning into vapors? Quiven asks just as bluntly as before. Look, I've been turned into stuff before, but never smoke or vapor. Is it really safe?

![]() |

Omrax will don his armor and untie his sword before agreeing to go on any mission.
"You say some is not covered by the laws. Before proceeding, can you assure us at the least this is not breaking any known laws?."

![]() |

No! I mean this turning into vapor thing! Is that safe? What if a wind comes up? I mean, I've been turned into an ape before, but at least I was still a thing.

![]() |

The society would be very interested in such information I would guess. Fredrik picks up one of the potions. Can you tell us anything about the challenges we are going to face inside milady?
Diplom: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

![]() |

Oh! Well, I guess that makes sense. As long as I get put back together correctly. So, yeah, what's inside again?
Diplo Aid: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

DM Rah |

"The law forbids me from offering any other advice on this matter." Ofarah says, and no amount of diplomacy seems capable of changing her mind.
Assuming you agree and proceed as instructed...
The ring-gate brings you into a round chamber dominated by a fifteen-foot-tall steel orchid blossom. The orchid’s bladelike petals stretch toward the room’s ceiling and remain closed, each covered in intricate engravings in strange scripts. Four passages exit the chamber, one in each direction.

![]() |

In the center of each of the four largest petals, is an identical inset. Kinda cool I guess. Wonder what the scripts say?

![]() |

Mordrak looks over the steel orchid after the halfling points out the detail. I should imagine this sculpture would be quite fascinatizing to you, Quiven! Mordrak remarks. He casts detect magic and scans the area.

DM Rah |

Mordrak senses magic upon the ring-gate and the orchid.
Talhaearn inspects the script upon the orchid and is able to identify one side as a symbol representing the elemental language of Aquan on the western petal. The other three sides bear different symbols.

![]() |

Quiven nods in agreement. I am! I don't think I could do anything like this. Its made of metal. I wish I could, though! Maybe I could do something smaller, but I couldn't write all the stuff on it from memory.
The halfling then blinks at J'ngo. Protectorated? Whatcha think could be inside? Can you open it? Can I open it?

![]() |

Take 10 on Linguistics for 19
Leastrie studies the other three sides with interest. "It appears all four elemental languages are represented. Perhaps applying the proper type of energy to the symbols will open the orchid."

![]() |

That sounds reasonable, Mordrak replies. I believe I have some holy water and some alchemicalist's fire here in my haversack.
If this is in fact a Fifth Element redux, I would humbly like to ask Ms. Jovovich for some alone time.

![]() |

I can provide a positive attitude. Other than that, well, you guys are outta luck!

![]() |

Omrax smiles at Quiven as he digs through his pack.
"I have a piece of flint that may help from the earth standpoint. Or dirt should be easy enough to find. Air seems to be the most difficult, or the least, as it is all around us."

![]() |

That didn't go well. Maybe there is a password or something?
