Pai blasts the little bugger and Ayaki cuts it in two. As the pieces fall to the floor, they sizzle and melt away.

COMBAT OVER

A search of the room turns up nothing other than 6 other paintings on the wall. All are magical and bear magical auras of necromancy and conjuration.

"An excellent question, my friend." Hey, László has been adventuring with Barlor for most of his career, and has a decent Sense Motive check--it's not too much of a stretch to think that he can get some idea what Barlor means.

Beyond the eastern door you find a room with belled glass jars cluttering every available surface. Each contains miniaturized creatures pinned by needles to cushions, like a twisted insect collection.

DC 18 Appraise, Knowledge (history), or Knowledge (nature):
You identify five cases containing what appear to be creatures that have gone extinct since Daegros’s day. Each is worth well over a thousand gold if sold to the right collector.
