"I am Daegros, an apprentice to Nhur Athemon." The man says. "This place is called the Sanctum. It was meant to offer protection from my master, but became a trap, left for his apprentices. Though a prison, it also holds many of his secrets, and more that we have collected and studied ourselves in the time we have been trapped here. If this is what you seek, then perhaps we can aid one another. There is another apprentice here who wishes to undo the time-lock that preserves the Sanctum. His name is Togarin, and if you destroy him, and ally yourselves with me, you will discover wonders of a lost age."
Pai Kromnite PFS

"We met Togarin earlier. This time lock thing is very confusing. Guys, could you all come in, so we can talk about things and figure out the proper course of action."
Maddie Sykes
|
"Well, shall we?" Maddie nudges the others to accompany her as she moves forward to join Pai in conversing with Daegros.
If nothing terrible happens while passing noisily through the bells and beads that line the hallway, she says, "I am Maddie. Out of curiosity, what will occur if we undo the time lock?"
Turg
|
If Maddie doesn't explode/implode/teleport into the sun, Turg will move forward as well. If the birdbrain wants the open spot, he may have it and Turg will take the spot in bells behind him. "Wait, why are we so afraid of a bunch of bells and whistles?"
| DM Rah |
"We are convinced the Sanctum has not preserved all trapped within, but rather delayed the natural passage of time. All those within, and all the knowledge collected within the books and notes here, will quickly die and rot away. Togarin has been plotting to destroy the Time-lock for ages and has prepared himself for the such repercussions. In the event he is successful I have been forced to make similar preparations. In order to prevent our deaths, Togarin and I will give up mortal life and surrender to the abomination of undeath. The knowledge of this place will reside only in our minds, or whatever remains of them after the necromantic transformation."

Maddie watches the man closely as he explains the situation, looking for the tell-tale signs of falsehood.

I don't believe anyone has the ability to detect evil in the group.
Maddie is unable to get a sense of Daegros' motivations.
"Well?" The man begins to get impatient. "If you have met Togarin, then you must know what he wants.. unless you have already killed him? Or are you here on his behalf to kill me?"

The Varisian also ponders Daegros' words, but gleans nothing from them other than the most obvious meaning. He whispers in Pai's ear, "Ask him about Vuzhon, the third apprentice."

"Vuzhon escaped the Time Lock through the use of a spell she developed." Draegos says. "Though she is living on borrowed time. Her body remains here, barely alive and preserved by the time lock. She was planning to send others back for Togarin and I to do the same, but I have reconsidered that course of action. Should I follow her example and leave this place, then nothing remains to protect the time lock from Togarin. He has no desire to live his days in the body of another, and will eventually find a way to undo the magic of the time lock, which will unravel the magic Vuzhon used to excape, thus spelling her doom regardless of proximity."

Pai gathers the others. "Im not sure whom to trust, but I think I like this guy more than the other apprentice we saw. I don't trust Togarin as far as I can throw him."
What is everyone's vibe on how to proceed here?
Maddie Sykes
|
Maddie quietly whispers in response, "I honestly do not know. All of his apprentices are all obviously accomplished liars, so it's difficult to trust what they say. I could try to read Daegros' thoughts, although he will undoubtedly take it poorly and most likely will go on attack. The real question is, is the world better if we release any of them? I doubt any of them have truly good intentions. I personally find it offensive that they've all cheated their natural life-spans with this temporal magic. The knowledge they possess might be worth preserving, but not if we're unleashing evil upon the world."
They're all probably evil, but I'll go with the group consensus.

Point 1: time lock is crucial for studying the important stuff here.
Point 2: all 3 of these guys should probably die. But I like this guy the most.
Question: can we save the time lock while killing the apprentices?
Turg

"Why don't we just see if whatsherface apprentice found more spells to get out? Its not like he said he WANTS to be a lich," she looks yo the dwarf, "Is being an abomination fun, or something?"

Classic Pathfinder move: in midst of negotiations, declare team huddle. I'm sure anyone who's heard of the Society knows that this is what they do.
Pai Kromnite PFS

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all these apprentices are evil. We probably need to destroy the time lock as well. If we try and do that, we'll be scrapping with both of them anyway.
| DM Rah |
"If you are truly here to learn about magic, then I am your only choice." Daegros calls down the hall, becoming impatient. "Togarin will destroy this place and then you rather then share the power he has."
Pai Kromnite PFS

Pai will fill the others in on her thoughts about what might happen to the time lock if Rozimus dies. Read the spoiler in DM's last post.
"I say we take him up on his initial offer and go talk further with Togarin. If Togarin is as bad as said, we need to come with with a way to neutralize him ASAP. Then we can figure out what to do with the time lock.

Maddie returns to Daegros and relates the following, "After a lengthy discussion, we've decided to take care of Togarin now. Is there anything you can tell us about his abilities that might assist us in defeating him?"

"Thank you." Maddie says with a solemn nod, her eyes narrowing at the thought of the grim, yet righteous task before her.
We should probably buff before engaging him, assuming he's still in the same spot.

Assuming nothing changes, right before the group enters Togarin's chamber, Maddie will cast Bless from her wand, then cast Prayer. For the entire party, that's a +1 morale bonus to hit and fear saves from Bless, and a +1 luck bonus to hit, damage saves, and skill checks, while the enemies get a -1 modifier on all those checks.
| DM Rah |
Ok, going to move on..
The group withdraws from Draegos and returns to the chambers occupied by Togarin. As the door opens to his chamber the necromancer looks up from the corpse of Rozimus' companion, thread and needle in his hand attached to a limb he is sewing back into the body. He looks upon you with a critical eye.
"So, you have returned. Have you come across any more instances of the time-displaced man?"
Pai Kromnite PFS
|
"Well, we have decided we are going to have to destroy the time lock. I doubt you are willing to let us do that, are you," Pai begins, as the group gathers around her.
Barlor

Also, *I* still don't think we should break the time lock. That will, as I understand it, destroy all of the secrets preserved herein, and I assume that the Society might want to actually study some of them.
As for prep, I'll just carry my wand of Shillelagh in my buckler hand.
Pai Kromnite PFS
|
lol, I am so confused by all the apprentices and whether or not we want to bust the time lock or what. I'm spinning here. If we don't want to break it, change Pai's earlier post to start ...
"Well, we have decided we are not going to allow you to destroy the time lock..."
Maddie Sykes

We rested, so all spell casting abilities are refreshed, if that makes a difference when it comes to buffs.
Having nothing constructive to say to a necromancer and his foul creations, Maddie waits impatiently for the conversation to come to an end and the smiting to begin.

"That is unfortunate." Togarin says, then gestures at your group. "Destroy them, my pet."
The skinned tiger growls threateningly.
