DM Rah |
The Laughing Crow is soon pushed from the rocks and heading downriver again. Raul's prayers repair the damage suffered in the collision.
A few days later the Tuunma River empties into the Sea of Eels. The waters of the Sea are very different from those of the Tuunma River; since the large lake has no viable current, the Laughing Crow must rely on its sails and the wind to propel it along the water. Since there are virtually no obstacles that might impede the ship on its journey across the lake.
At the end of the first day of travel on the Sea of Eels Jonterra points out the glint of sails in the distance. Over the course of the day the sails draw closer.
On the morning of the second day, the light of dawn reveals a ship some six hundred feet to port and fast approaching. Its banner bears a single upthrust spear, and its golden sails sparkle in the morning sun.
Lingshen.
The other ship is designed for speed and quickly approaches the Laughing Crow. You have 4 rounds (6 if you attempt to avoid them) to prepare yourselves before they pull alongside.

raw assist: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Seeing that the only wind he adding was from wasted breaths, he pulls his kusarigama from the sash and readies for battle.
DM Rah |
When the chasing ship pulls alongside, its crew members latch onto the Laughing Crow with grappling hooks and pull it close for boarding. Then, a woman and three soldiers swing across the gap.
"I am Xiao Wen," The woman calls out as she draws a curved sword. "I am captain of the Lingshen warship Hailong. We know who you are. Surrender or die!"

That's it, I'm ruined. Probably roll single digits the rest of the scenario.
Kryssa Lightbinder |
Kryssa's eyes burn with holy fire as she calls upon her heritage for strength. She makes an upswing at the soldier beside her.

well, it seems Jonterra stole my rolls ;)
Chamius Lune PFS |
Chamius steps back, clearing his throat theatrically. "You'd close the way before us, Wen/In the name of Grand Lingshen/But we will not be stopped again!" Inspire courage; everyone who acts after Chamius adds +1 to hit and to damage. Sorry, Barley.
DM Rah |
I'm not sure if Barley was trying to trip or injure with his attack, but it doesn't really matter with Jonterra's rolls.
Chamius begins a courageous speech. Barley's kusarigama whips out and trips one of the soldiers. Kryssa tries to capitalize on a superior position, but can't find an opening. But as the soldier is rolling away from her, he is summarily dispatched by two perfect slashes from Jonterra's sword. Raul takes down another with less finesse, but just as much finality.
Klaidingo is up!
DM Rah |
The soldier grunts as Klaidingo's magic missile strikes him. Assuming a martial stance, he kicks and punches in return.
Flurry 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Flurry 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
And misses badly!
Xiao Wen raises her free hand in a complex gesture and casts a spell that sprays the deck of the ship with brilliant colors.
Color Spray. Raul, Jonterra, and Kryssa need to make Will Saves vs DC 13.
Xiao Wen has cover vs Raul so no AoO is available.
PARTY UP!
Jonterra Seralith |
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Folio Reroll: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 2 = 18
Jonterra starts to succumb to the color, but then redoubles his will, girding himself.
Moving across the fallen men, Jonterra reaches out to grab Xiao Wen!
Grapple: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Told ya....low rolls...
Chamius Lune PFS |
Chamius maintains the inspiration and rushes up to the steering deck, sending his whip snaking out to try to take the last soldier's legs out from under him.
Trip attempt on soldier, incl. inspire courage: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 1 = 13
Raul |
Raul is amused at the colors, but less amused my Jonterra's fumbling. He hauls himself up and around the other side's stairs, finally making to the remaining soldier.

Kryssa takes the spell with eyes wide and goes down.
unconscious, blinded, and stunned: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 rounds
then blinded and stunned: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 rounds
then stunned for 1 round.
Jonterra resists Xiao's spell and tries to grab her, but she throws him back.
Raul also resists the spell and circles around, scaling the stairs to the back deck near the final soldier.
Chamius sends out his whip a the last soldier but fails to trip him.
Klaidingo retreats and protects himself with a shield spell.
Barley's up!
Barley 川から流木 |
Barley steps up behind Jontera and throws his chains at Xiao.

Xiao kicks barley's chain away, avoiding his attempt to trip hm.
The remaining soldier jumps with a flying knee at Raul, following it up with a descending knife-hand chop. Both attacks fail to find soft targets.

Facing Jonterra from higher ground on the back deck, Xiao spins her sword and weaves her off-hand in another arcane gesture. Unfortunately, her weapon misses completely and the complex maneuver disrupts her spell.

Raul plants his sword on the deck in front of him where she can see.
"It's time to surrender." he says as the blood drips down the groove in the center of his blade, with a nonchalant kick at the rolling head of the soldier.
