Klaidingo |
Klaidingo is just happy he did not get the boat stuck anymore than he had to and kisses the shore underneath his feet.
"Sometimes taking a walk on the wildside is indeed all it's cracked up to be."
DM Rah |
Tedium has become a constant companion in the countryside of Shokuro. The roads have dwindled in size and maintenance as the days have passed; what was a wide, stone-paved highway near the river towns has become a narrow, winding track of dust, sometimes fading entirely into the surrounding terrain. Travelers along it have likewise grown scarce as the days drone on. Still, the journey’s end lies no more than half a day’s travel away, in the village of Nesting Swallow, a hamlet so small it could easily vanish into a crease on a map. No more than a few more miles through these sparsely wooded hills and valleys rests the last known home of Master Li Yao, and here, with luck, his descendant still lives. In this speck of farmland may be found one who can, by right of blood, bring forth the forgotten power of the Braid of a Hundred Masters.
Where on Golarion - Regional Map
Cresting a rise, the trail winds its way up a small hillock that overlooks a large valley beyond. Not far from the hill, a dead mule and overturned cart lie in the middle of the road, two cloaked figures rummaging through the spilled contents of the cart while making disapproving cawing noises to a pair of similarly dressed riders on horseback. Two other horses stand on the side of the road, presumably mounts for the two on foot. The mounted figures loom over a half-dozen shabbily dressed peasants. One of the riders urges his horse forward and makes a threatening slash at the face of a man trying to shield several children behind him.

Barley 川から流木 |
Unlike the others, Barley was not in a somber mood in the past days. The Shokuro scenery to Nesting Swallow very much reminded of his own little village and clan in eastern Tian. The happy grin quickly turns into a frown as he spots the bandits and their victims. "I do not hide from cowards-", Barley says firmly as if uttering an oath and drawing his grandfather's katana.
"You there! Covey of quails!" Barley moves forward to challenge, "Leave what you've taken from these people and go - or I shall teach you a new meaning to a murder of crows!

At Barley's words, the tengu look up the road towards your group. One of them caws in laughter.
"I think it is us who will do the teaching, fatman!" One of the riders calls back, then gestures with his sword. "Kill them!"

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Chamius holds up one hand (where's an everburning torch when you need one?) and begins to recite.
"If we walked on and left you/That just wouldn't be the same./'Cause we'll free you from those birds now/And those birds we'll rearrange, oh oh oh/And these birds we'll rearrange!"
Inspire courage.
Kryssa Lightbinder |
Kryssa looks over at Chamius and says, "Recite for us a poem, you're the warchanter. Recite for us an epic this fight. Well, we're all in the mood for some bloodshed and I'll take the one on the right."
Moving with unnatural speed, Kryssa charges into combat swinging the spiked ball of her heavy flail over her head in a circle the whole way while the bard clears his throat to sing.

As the rest of the group advances, Kryssa fight the two riders alone. Unfortunately she fails to defeat either, though Klaidingo injures one with a magical missile.
One rider slashes down at Kryssa, giving her another wound.
The second spurs it's horse towards Chamius, but misses with his attack.

DM Rah |
Jonterra's strike misses the tengu next to the cart, but aids Barley as he tumbles out and makes his grandfather proud with a well-placed strike that slashes open the tengu's back and takes it from the fight.
Raul steps over to aid Chamius, taking down the rider.
Kryssa continues her attacks against the last rider, but can't get through his armor.
Waiting on Klaidingo. Also, Chamius, you can take a different action if desired since Raul defeated the rider facing you before your turn.

Kryssa slashes at the rider as he flees. Blood sprays the air and the horse gallops about 30 feet before the tengu slides from the saddle and crashes to the earth.
COMBAT OVER
An old man, who seems to be the family elder, steps forward hesitantly. "A thousand gratitudes to you and your fellows." He speaks in a thick Tien accent."If not for your brave actions, my family and I may have been killed, for we do not have much to give. My name is Xien Wun Lao, and this is my daughter, her husband, and my two grandchildren. What would we call you?"
The small wagon is overturned, but otherwise not too damaged, but with their mule dead, they could not make it much further alone.
