"Cor, I'm about blown. I've only a bit more courage to spread around yet, so I'd better wait 'til the next wave's on us." He beats out a 1-2-3-4 on the drum and raises an encouraging fist to one of the village archers after a particularly good shot. "One more for Nesting Swallow!"
| DM Rah |
A brief cheer erupts from the villagers as the latest wave of bandits retreats, but they are soon muffled by those wise enough to know the fighting is not yet done. For the most part, the farmers prepare themselves for further combat; their fallen comrades are respectfully moved away from battleground, crossbows are reloaded, and what repairs can be made to the barricades are attempted. While the main barricade survived the assaults in good condition thanks to your presence, the others didn't fare quite as well, though they did hold and the villagers are in good morale for having defended them on their own.
Then, suddenly from the eastern edge of the village, a low growling sound grows in volume, followed by a loud crash comes from the barricade there. Panicked villagers come running from that direction. “A demon! The crows have brought a demon down upon us!” one of the farmers screams, throwing his spear down as he runs.
You have 3 rounds of actions before this happens, so adjust position or heal if needed. Keep in mind this attack happens without warning.

”Wooooohoo!”, Barley joins the cheer.
The only demons Barley have seen since leaving his little village has been mountain lions, cannibals and furry yetis. So when he hears the shouts about demons, he assumes it’s a really big tengu and heads for the eastern wall with another arrow. "Yeah, right..."

Yes, but Raul is back at the barricade? Can I undo move GM?
| DM Rah |
Following the sound of screams, Raul calls for support and heads towards the western barricade. As he arrives with Klaidingo, he finds Barley already in action with his bow, loosing arrows at a black and white owlbear that has crashed through the barricade and tossed a couple villagers to the ground with its claws.
The owlbear roars as Raul charges into the area and it begins to lumber forward towards him.
Klaidingo's up, the Owlbear.
Map Updated.

Klaidingo points his ring at the owlbear, and casts grease.
"Demon... Pfft, it's just an owlbear."
Klaidingo stares strangly then realizes what he just said.
Oh $#!+, an Owlbear!

Raul gives the owlbear a bloody wound as Barley maneuvers into a flanking position.
Klaidingo casts a spell, but the owlbear doesn't fall.
The owlbear tears into Raul, and though he fends off one claw and beak, a second claw catches him. The beast tries to pull him into its grip, but Raul is too strong for it.

Your knowledge of nature makes him familiar with Owlbears. This one is oddly colored and smaller than normal

Klaidingo summons forth another spear and thrusts it at his feathered foe.

Looks as though they've got the blighter sorted. Chamius looks around for any sign of a followup attack while the defenders are occupied with the owlbear.

ahem all things Arcane.
Er... Yeah, that too. Stupid Owlbears.
Chamius, no sign of impending attack. You think the last attack with the two singing Tengu may have been a diversion to get the Owlbear close.
Raul injures the owlbear again, but it refuses to die.
Klaidingo hurls a spear, but misses, nearly hitting Barley, foiling the ninja's attack as well.
Jonterra rushes over to join the fight but his strike doesn't land strongly enough to do damage.
Roaring in pain and rage the owlbear continues attacking Raul, but can't find any gaps in his armor this time.

Raul strikes a third time and runs the owlbear through with his greatsword.
Somewhere, Gorum is smiling.
In the aftermath of the onslaught, the village square stands nearly deserted, most of the villagers’ resolve having broken sometime during the owlbear's rampage. Many have retreated to their homes, though from the peripheries of the village still come the sounds of battle, villagers here and there driving off the few scattered bandits that made it through the broken barricade. The air is hazy with smoke and it is hard to tell where to go to next in order to aid the farmers.
There doesn't seem to be another immediate threat and you have a few rounds to heal or talk.
