My thoughts are that you play her through the end of this encounter and then we bring in someone new. If you are interested I could ask a friend from our local gaming group to created a healing type and join in. He is a dedicated player who is both tactically minded and a good role player…?

DM Pendin Fust |

Sure Arc, bring them onboard. I will bot Freya then.

Sir Bastion |

@DM Pendin Fust
The character is completed and ready to go. Please let me know if you would like me to make any modifications.
And just to get it out of the way, I do not have selective channeling yet, as at 1st level I did not qualify for the feat.
Thanks again for letting me join.

DM Pendin Fust |

I've PM'ed you. Thanks for being so quick and sorry for my lag! I got called to do some construction work on Friday and Saturday then church all day on Sunday.

Terry the thief |

FYI - Shotgun message I am posting to all of my games (and the recruitment threads I have been participating in):
I will be attending a Mormon-friendly scheduled Wood Badge course (first weekend) this week. The Mormon friendly part is that the course runs from Thursday (0730) through Saturday (2000ish) instead of the more normal Friday through Sunday.
I expect I will be checking the boards and posting Wednesday evening, but probably not as extensively and repeatedly as I do most weeknights.
Then, my wife and I are supposed to get up Sunday and go shopping for some better work clothes for me. It will probably be Sunday evening before I post again.
Just trying to make sure people are aware, and don't end up waiting on me by mistake.

DM Pendin Fust |

The Blackwing Library is closest, followed by Gwerm's manor, then Anevia's house. The 3 places in the note are scattered between those points.

Lirrathan |

My Skull & Shackles game died, and I have decided to scrap it and start over with Mummy's Mask. As such I have started an invite only recruitment thread, and everyone here is encouraged to apply to the game. I still have a few players from the previous game, so am only looking for 2 players. I may possibly need up to 4, based on whether all my S&S players are staying or not, in order to get a 6 person team.
Link to the recruitment

Sir Bastion |

Thank you Lirrathan. My local GM told me the other day that he got the first book in that AP series the other day, so I believe he will be running that next for me. Good luck on your new game.

Arcessentes |

Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to decline. I am about at capacity in my on-line games. Also, I put a lot of work into a recruitment and prefer to do so only when there are a full 5 or 6 slots open. I generally choose to pass when some of the slots are reserved or otherwise spoken for. It is significantly lessens my chances of success.

DM Pendin Fust |

I just may apply! I've got the book shipping but haven't read it yet...would be nice to play in something I haven't looked at yet. I don't think I'll be running it anytime soon.

Terry the thief |

Howdy!
Well, this "weekend" (10, 11 & 12 Apr) is the 2nd weekend of my 2 weekend Boy Scout training course known as Wood Badge. This course is being offered on an LDS friendly schedule, so I report to the campground at 0700 on Thursday and get home during Saturday evening.
In keeping with the rules given to the boys for their campouts, I will not be allowed to use any fancy electronics during the 3 days of the course. So I will be out of touch for those 3 days.
If you need to bot me, do.
My wife is talking about spending a week camping to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. These plans are not finalized (or even really scheduled) yet. But I know she won't be able to go a week without her electronic tether, so I expect to be in contact during that period anyway.

DM Pendin Fust |

No worries Terry. Thanks and have fun...I need to plan our next family camping trip too.
Hmmm....
Oh and impending congrats on your 30th anniversary! I'm getting married this year and I pray we get to have a 50th anniversary before it's all said and done!

DM Pendin Fust |

Heh...been engaged for almost 4 years now. The realities of living in southern California with the closest immediate family 2,000 miles away in Ohio make it complicated to save for the wedding. This year we finally got sick of waiting and said we are going to elope.

Arcessentes |

Sensible :)
My son gets married in June. It will be a relatively large wedding because they are getting married at his fiancé's church and at least half the membership will want to come. They are trying to minimize spending but its not going well. I suspect the wedding and reception will be 20K if you count everything.

Terry the thief |

We were married by the Justice of the Peace. We didn't warn anybody. We didn't tell anybody until it was over.
Her mom yelled at us for a while, we pointed out that we were older than she and her first husband were when they got married. (They "had to" really . . ..)
My parents spoke disapprovingly, so we pointed out that we had known each other longer than they had before they were married. They celebrated their 50th 2 years back, I think.
You don't really gain anything by spending thousands of dollars to make other people happy with a big ceremony. Getting married isn't about pomp and circumstance. It isn't about the bride. It is about committing one to the other. It is about choosing to stay together while you are more mad at your partner than you have ever been at anybody else.
It seems most of our society thinks of even the relationship at the core of a marriage as disposable anymore.

Arcessentes |

Well said Terry. In truth most weddings is more for the family of the bride, and some what for the family of the groom. Once I figured that out my wedding went off without a hitch. I too have been married 30 years.

Mirel |

I could go on all day about how I feel about marriage and what it should be... However, since you all seem to be successful in that area, I think I will just leave it at that :p but congratulations all round!

DM Pendin Fust |

Hehehe agreed, agreed. Sorry I won't be able to post more today...work's crazy busy right now.

DM Pendin Fust |

I'll be out today, possibly posting later tonight. Taking the fiance to a doctor appointment in Thousand Oaks, CA and then we are hiking to see a waterfall.

DM Pendin Fust |

All, this week may be very scarce for me. I've just gotten a huge project dumped in my lap that needs to done by Friday.

Lirrathan |

I've been wracking my brain with each post to try and come up with a good reason that Lirrathan would just decide to hand Bastion a neat talking sword. As far as he's concerned it doesn't do anything special beyond that, but we just met the guy, and he seems the type that would get on Lirrathan's nerves, but OOC I know the sword is best in his hands.
He wouldn't do it just because it says Paladin on the character sheet, but all the same I feel like I need it to be his decision. If told to do so, he would fight it just because he's being told what to do.
So, please Bastion, if you wouldn't mind, help me make some connection that would prompt him to want you to have the blade.

Mirel |

I think there are enough clues in the history of the weapon to warrant thinking the weapon would do better in a paladin of Iomedae's hands

Lirrathan |

To someone that listened or even cared about the history, that would be a reasonable conclusion. At the moment we found it, however, I actually RP'd Lirrathan not paying attention and just waiting to see if he could have it.
I'm not trying to hold onto it, but from an IC standpoint Lirrathan would need a little convincing to, as I stated before, just hand it over to someone they just met regardless of what he calls himself. As it is, the guy we just fought was also a Paladin of Iomedae was he not?
It may be a non-issue, I just feel that it wouldn't make sense IC to just offer it up simply because I (not Lirrathan) know it is mechanically much better in Bastion's hands.

Arcessentes |

I say don't rush it. I think eventually the sword will voice an opinion. I agree that currently there is no reason to hand the sword over.

Sir Bastion |

Sorry been swamped with a work issue all day. I have tried twice to start a response for both Lirrathan and Mirel.
Lirrathan,
I was asked to make a healer for this group, and knew we would be in the area of the worldwound and crusaders, so I knew I wanted to play a paladin from the get go, but knew they don't make the greatest group healers. So I went with the Oradin build, and even that I did not follow all the guides exactly. I wanted Sir Bastion to be mine and play him in a manner that he sought to redeem his homelands, and others in the area. I already had a lot of player knowledge about the area from PFS games and campaign source books.
I had heard rumours of a sword in this AP, but I am trying to ignore that player knowledge as best I can, which I think I have been doing so far.
While you are currently in possession of that weapon, my character has had no reason to even look at it nor desire it. He has not heard it speak, nor seen it do anything that a sword would not do, in the time I have been with your group. Additionally I have not read a description of the sword to raise any suspension that it is anything other than a sword.
So as far as I am concerned, we keep on playing the way we are and if something occurs in the game to change they way we think, when so be it.
I did look up Radiance in HeroLab when you brought it up a couple of days, and yes it does look sweet. But that is were I have left it, and was planning on just continuing the game as is.
From Sir Bastion's point of view, if he did find out about the sword, he would look at it as a sign that Iomedae has a special plan in mind for you, as she works in mysterious ways to further her goals. Lirrathan, may be destined to become a Holy Hunter.
Mirel,
Sorry for your loss.
Yes, I was surprised also that you gave no response to the 'chastising'. Personally, I was looking forward to a bit of conversation between us. Sir Bastion will try to stay 30' or more from you, so he doesn't have to see you glaring at him. :)
And one more note to all... Sir Bastion's name before getting his paladin spurs was Sebastian, so his new name is a play on that.

DM Pendin Fust |

Mirel, I will keep you and the family in prayers. I'm sorry about your loss.
I will probably not post again today unless I get done early with my project (which looks like I will be able to finish on schedule!). Sorry I've been slowed down so much lately...work's been just crazy.

Mirel |

Work got super crazy since my last post... but I am back! I have nothing to add at this point, so I wll probly just post tomorrow.

Sir Bastion |

So has Terry dropped? Been a month, I believe, since his last post in this game.

DM Pendin Fust |

Sorry all, sick today...been sleeping for most of it. I will check with Terry.

DM Pendin Fust |

I sent a PM to Terry, I'll give it a bit before I bot.

DM Pendin Fust |

So, no response from Terry. I am going to assume that he is no longer interested or something happened in his personal life.
Should we continue or do you want to find a replacement?
