Sorry guys it took so long. Between finishing the thesis and then getting real sick...I was on the mend for most of the week/weekend.
Back to action!

Sir Bastion |

Lady Hosilla/Lirrathan started this play, so I have been wanting to follow her/his lead, but I haven't seen any new posts since last week.
If I don't see anything by this evening, Jokum will probably do something to stir things up.

DM Pendin Fust |

I'll actually move it along, assuming he says yes by tonight. Real life happens sometimes so I'm guessing something came up for him.

DM Pendin Fust |

Guardians was phenomenally good. Go and see it!
Basically, the best description I heard of it, "it has all the heart and soul of the original Star Wars trilogy that the 2nd trilogy forgot."

DM Pendin Fust |

Also...I thought that planet was going to be Eos the living planet...but a friend of mine convinced me it was a Celestial...

DM Pendin Fust |

Spineless Ones are represented most famously by Mojo, who's this crazy intergalactic television producer who kidnaps beings of power to compete in gladiatorial type shows...I forget exactly but he gains power from viewership somehow. Probably one of the wonkiest Marvel villains...well...along with MODOK.

Paritosh Jumbal |

This is just a heads up. I will have limited accessibility due to travel from 25 Jul until 9 Aug. I will have my computer, but will only be able to post as the wife and available internet access allow.
Here was the post, so he's trying his best! Only a few more days.
How do you rule in situations like this, do we get a surprise round and then bad guys can join in their initiative order for round 2?

DM Pendin Fust |

Yep, all gets a surprise round (and if you want to retcon drawing your weapons then roll a Sleight of Hand check).
I'm fine waiting for Lirrathan's trip to be over, I have some retooling I want to do to the subsequent books so this would give me some time.

Paritosh Jumbal |

Nope, no need for sleight of hand here. It's a trained only skill, and I am untrained.
Paritosh is perfectly comfortable with his ability to shield slam a bad guy, and nobody ever gets alarmed when you're just walking around with a shield on your arm.

Paritosh Jumbal |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

See, I told you I have characters that have adventured with this guy. He's not Faxon, he is Shoris!

DM Pendin Fust |

Cool, let's reconvene on Monday!
@Bastion - It is a regular longsword...but glowing in radiant gold! It also makes random high pitched metallic keening sounds.

Arcessentes |

I wanted to give a heads up that I'll be traveling from Wednesday through Sunday (going to Gen Con) and my posting will be limited. I'll still try to check this game at least once a day, but will likely be posting from a phone when I do post.

Paritosh Jumbal |

Here we go:
A swift action consumes a very small amount of time, but represents a larger expenditure of effort than a free action. You can perform one swift action per turn without affecting your ability to perform other actions. In that regard, a swift action is like a free action. You can, however, perform only one single swift action per turn, regardless of what other actions you take. You can take a swift action anytime you would normally be allowed to take a free action. Swift actions usually involve spellcasting, activating a feat, or the activation of magic items.
Emphasis is mine.

DM Pendin Fust |

Seeing as it is GenCon now and I'm leaving in a few hours to go camping...I'll post on monday!

Paritosh Jumbal |

I'm here.
One last push and GenCon will be over. Have had a blast, with 9 (soon to be 10) straight slots of playing PFS. Survived Bonekeep 3 last night, and we crushed it really at APL 8-9. Great fun, great stories, and lots of lies to be told!
Arcessentes played with us in each of the three morning slots, excluding this morning. Great guy, great character, great teammate!

Arcessentes |

I played 9 in a row myself. Paritosh and his group were fine folks and experienced players all. They welcomed me in and made me part of their team. I hope to get to play with them again.

Hey, did we ever explain to you just who you gamed with? Our Cleric? Did we tell you his secret?

DM Pendin Fust |

Sorry all, whatever I've been sick with is rearing it's ugly head yet again. Spending most of my time sleeping.

Sir Bastion |

The Phylactery of Faithfulness can help anyone that has a tie to a deity and could be affected if they had an alignment shift to far away from thier deity. So in my opinion any divine caster, and some archetypes/prestige classes or feats that have a deity requirement.
James Jacobs got really involved with thread on Alignment and Deity Worship a couple of years ago. This opened up the usefulness of the Phylactery of Faithfulness in my opinion.
As far as the wand, a Paladin can use it, as can a UMD, but all can benefit from it.

DM Pendin Fust |

I'm on the fence about the phylactery. On the one hand I can see some very cool moments from it...but it gets a little meta-gamey.
I'll let Lirrathan explain the sword in character...that should be fun if he's as Lirrathan as usual :)

Paritosh Jumbal |

The absolutely brutal thing about the phylactery is it fills the head slot, the same as a +CHA or +WIS item.
I look forward to the explanation!
Ok, still, bless weapon is a Paladin only spell, so combined with the phylactery which is USUALLY considered a Paladin item begins to scream that there is some dead, or imprisoned Paladin around here. Of course after recent events, there may be 50 of them!

Arcessentes |

Bastion should take both items. I believe he would benefit most from them, unless Paritosh is suddenly feeling paladinish again.

Arcessentes |

Well, I am off tomorrow for DragonCon and will not be back until Monday night. I'll have a laptop and should be abel to post most days but likely not more than once a day. Please bot me if you need to. Everyone have a good Labor Day weekend.

Sir Bastion |

I also am off to DragonCon in a few hours... Will have a laptop this me.
And I gave at the office, so I don't need to give again from this game.

DM Pendin Fust |

Have fun at DragonCon you lucky devils!
What's the next stop..did anyone make the perception spoiler?

Paritosh Jumbal |

Is the dog smart enough to point out the results?
Depends on what the results are I suppose.
The police and hunters use dogs no smarter than Jokum for finding and tracking stuff. Convicts on the run; drugs double bagged, dipped in oil and swallowed; weeks dead corpses; etc.

DM Pendin Fust |

Feel free to take a look at the spoiler and decide from there if Jokum would point it out.

Paritosh Jumbal |

As many are no doubt aware, this is a holiday weekend in the US. I'm taking the family camping this weekend, which likely means no internet until Monday. If anything amazing happens while I'm gone (probably from 2PM eastern today until 4pm eastern Monday), he GM can decide how my character acts.
