The heavy stone door opens with a creak. The room is Two pillars support the ceiling in here. In many places the stone walls, floor, and ceiling are caked with ancient grime and soot. Alcoves in the north and south walls contain partially damaged statues of a man in robes clutching a book and a glaive. The entire room is canted to the west, and whatever ancient upheaval caused the complex to tilt knocked the statues from their bases so that now they lean against he western walls of their alcoves.

Another large stone door stands closed at the far end of this chamber.

Cadas will cast Detect Magic as she looks about this room and as she waits for Robin to check out the new door. Remember the prediction of a trap.

Inactive

Robin looks very carefully for a trap in the passageway. He checks to see if parts of the floor look like they were traversed recently. Take 20

The long and blasted hallway does not have any traps that Robin or the others can find. The door at the far end, which is also a heavy stone slab like the one on the west end, does not appear to be trapped either.

Opening the door, the party finds a short hallway that rises in slope to the east. Five feet from the western door, the floor is polished and shiny, unlike the dusty floor elsewhere. A pair of stone statues depicting stern men wielding glaives stand in the alcoves north and south of this section of the hallway. At the eastern end stand two stone doors their faces carved with strange runes. Just past the doors is a third alcove in which a partially collapsed statue sits. The top half of the statue is missing, leaving behind a ragged stump of a torso.

Peering into the dark hall Cadas notes If there was a trap here that shiny spot could certainly mark it. Take care when checking that Robin.

Inactive

Robin peers closely at the not so dusty floor section, trying to see if there is a trap, or what other cause there may be.

Robin Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Robin does not see or notice any traps in the hallway, and the reason for the shiny spot on the floor is not readily apparent. He motions that it appears safe to continue.

Need to know group marching order down the passage.

Inactive

Can Robin take 20 for perception on that spot as well? He is being super paranoid. Feels like a pit trap or something.

"The area looks safe to me!" says Robin with a grin. "Let's go in! I'll be right behind you."

Dwarves, Cadas, Malcom and Robin at the rear?

Taking an exceptionally long time to search, Robin is rewarded. He sees the slightest scrape of the shiny floor stones against the wall. Evidently that section of the floor depresses. Looking around a bit more, he sees holes in the ceiling where a steel portcullis is recessed.

Apparently, when the trap is depressed the portcullis drops down. Now that he sees the one, finding the other set is relatively easy. As if that weren't enough, a hinge on the floor plate looks like it opens dropping the trapped individual down into some type of pit below.

Feeling fortunate and thankful for being meticulous Robin explains the mechanisms to the rest of the party.

Finding the cage trap is worth 300xp per player. Thankfully, you didn't have to find it the hard way...In fact, the two glaive-wielding statues slash a player trapped in the square twice, then the pit opens. Damage is 1d10 x2, and then falling damage of 1d6.

Cumulative XP is now at 7079 or about 27% to Level 5.

Can he disarm the trap?

Inactive

"Oh, hold up, I see the nasty trap now!"

Can we just avoid it? Sounds like a doozy!

-Posted with Wayfinder

No way to avoid it, the entire floor in that square triggers the tra and drops the pit. Have to try the Disable Route.

Cadas moves up and anoints Robin with a touch of water and a wave if her holy symbol. May Gozreh guide your hand. Guidance on Robin.

Rogar takes a look.

"I'm not use to you vith this, but I vill see if ve can't find a vay over? Perhaps vith rope and some tools?"

Robin finagles the trap's pressure plate, pulling and prying on it. He hears a simple snap, and thinking that this is surely the end for him, is relieved when the spring on the plate comes out in his hand, disabling the pressure plate and disarming the entire trap.

The hallway now seems secure to go investigate.

F Human Shoanti [AC: 23/12 tch/21 ff; HP 83/95; Frt +9, Ref +5, Will +13; Perc +19/21 vs creatures] Cleric 10, Init:+1, Diplo +8, Heal +15, Sense Motive +15

Encouraged, Cadas urges Robin forward. There might be further traps. I am here behind you.

Rogar nods to the halfling.

"Don't bad fool, not bad."

He then steps toward the front.

"I vill take point vith the halfling, it vill be better to have two sets of eyes vatching for danger."

Lets get down there and have a look and listen. Cadas says, urging the team forward.

Robin points to the north door, inviting Rogar to give it a shove.

I will be running the caster and the fighter for this fight, I guess that should be fun...

Wide stone ledges of red marble line the curving walls of this room, which is well lit by four burning skulls that sit in each corner. Three chairs rest in the room, and both stone ledges are covered with old books, scrolls, teeth, bones, scrimshaw artwork, jars of deformed creatures soaking in brine, taxidermied animals and limbs, and other strange objects. To the north, a large round fountain filled with frothy blue water fills the room with the gentle sound of bubbling.

Standing at the opposite side of the room ready for your entrance stands the white-haired aasimar, Nualia. With the exception of her demonic hand, and a mass of scars on her belly, the rest of her is incongruously beautiful. Her violet eyes stare with insane hatred at you as she strokes her pet, another yeth hound which floats beside her at shoulder level. Her other hand holds a large bastard sword with a serrated edge, which she leans against point down.

Know Religion DC 20:
You recognize the scars on her belly as The Mark of Lamashtu, denoting the carrier not only as one devoted to the Mother of Monsters, but one capable of birthing monsters from her own body.

"Welcome heroes of Sandpoint. I see you are here to burn as your town will burn. Come! Let's begin, the sooner we start the sooner I sacrifice you to my Mother and grow in power."

She motions her hound to attack as her hand flies to a medallion around her neck.

Nualia's Battle - Round 1

20 Korvek
19 Rogar
16 Cadas
15 Nualia
14 Yeth Hound
11 Robin
4 Malcolm

Korvek, hearing the sound of challenge rushes through his allies and storms the room, taking a position to block the floating yeth hound, but unable to attack this round.

Initiative falls to Rogar and Cadas. Good luck!

F Human Shoanti [AC: 23/12 tch/21 ff; HP 83/95; Frt +9, Ref +5, Will +13; Perc +19/21 vs creatures] Cleric 10, Init:+1, Diplo +8, Heal +15, Sense Motive +15

Sorry for the delay. Has trouble with the map. Working now.

Gozreh has something to say about that. You betray humanity and that will not be tolerated. Cadas casts Burst of Radiance in the back of the room, catching both the hound can cleric in its blast. Reflex Save DC 15 or blind for 1d4 rounds. If you make the save you are still dazzled for 1d4 rounds.

Damage: 4d4 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 4) = 13 to all evil creatures - no save.

SR check, if needed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Sorry. I can run Korvek if you like? Also you moved Rogar instead of Korvek, no prob.

Rogar rushes forward next to Korvek and casts Lead Blades on Korvek's axe.

"Vhat in seven hells have you done to yourself roman?"

Nualia's Battle - round 1 - continued

Nualia, taken aback by the blast of light, is blinded and wounded by the Burst. She screams in rage and anger, but regains composure, casting a spell on herself to call for Lamashtu's aid, while her vision clears.

Spellcraft DC 16:
The spell is Divine Favor.

The dazzled beast lets out its bone-chilling bay, causing all in the room to shiver in fear.

All the heroes need DC 12 Will saves or be panicked for 2d4 rounds. Action is down to Robin, then Malcolm. The wizard and dwarven warrior both make their saves.

Korvek DC 12 Will, mind-affecting: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 1 = 14
Malcolm DC 12 Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Will save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14.

Robin is still pretty scared this time, but manages to hold it together. Will wait on Rogar's will save to see if Robin should try to countersong.

Robin can't help but admire the beautiful aasimar. "Lady, you're so hot, I'm burning up just looking at you! Well, most of you, anyway." Robin wiggles his fingers as he speaks, hoping to enhance his poor humor with powerful magics.

Hideous Laughter, Will DC 17, but +4 to saves assuming she's not humanoid.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

"Careful guys, she's calling on her goddess to empower her in combat!" She just casted Divine Favor.

Nualia's Battle - Round 1 - concluded

Despite her otherworldiness, Nualia still succumbs to Robin's humor and finds herself falling prone and rolling on the floor in gales of inhuman laughter.

Malcolm begins summoning monstrous allies to help in the fight against the evil boss lady.

End of Round 1

Nualia DC 17 Will: 1d20 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 4 = 14

Nualia's Battle - Round 2

20 Korvek
19 Rogar
16 Cadas
15 Nualia (blinded, prone, laughing, 13 hp dmg)
14 Yeth Hound (dazzled, 13 dmg)
11 Robin
4 Malcolm

Korvek 5' steps forward and lays into the prone aasimar, power attacking and trying to end it all in one chop. Since the woman is blinded and prone, the dwarf's attack is successful, scoring a mighty blow for 21 hp.

Korvek greataxe, power attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 - 2 = 16
Dmg, power attack, lead blades: 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 2, 4) + 10 = 21

Rogar and Cadas up for the heroes before Nualia and her pet get another action. The blindness ends on Cadas' turn.

Male Dwarf Ranger 4 | HP 30/30 | AC 21 | T 12 | FF 19 | F +9 | R +9 | W +6 | I +4 | P +10

Rogar five-foot steps and full attacks.

Shield Bash Power Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Helmet Power Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

F Human Shoanti [AC: 23/12 tch/21 ff; HP 83/95; Frt +9, Ref +5, Will +13; Perc +19/21 vs creatures] Cleric 10, Init:+1, Diplo +8, Heal +15, Sense Motive +15

Cadas moves in, likely provoking from the hound. She swiftly enlarges and strikes at the evil cleric. You offend me with every breath. She flings the words at the woman with the stab of her trident.

MW Trident: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 212d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 = 10

Nualia's Battle - Round 2

Rogar's smashing and bashing routine fails to connect with the servants of Lamashtu.

Cadas, enlarging as she comes, provokes an attack from the floating dog, which bites through her armor causing some serious pain, and tripping the cleric, knocking her prone in the process of her advance.

Nualia steps behind her guard dog and out of the reach of any attacker before casting another spell on herself.

The yeth hound bites at Korvek again, trying to tear him limb from limb but its foul teeth are turned aside by the dwarven armor once again.

Spellcraft DC 17 to ID:
Cure Moderate Wounds

Yeth Hound AoO, bite, dazzled: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 7 - 1 = 19
Bite Dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 3) + 4 = 12
Trip attempt vs Cadas CMD 16, dazzled: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 1 = 18
Nualia spell: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (6, 6) + 4 = 16
Yeth Bite, dazzled: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 - 1 = 16

Since the AoO from the dog hits, and the trip attempt succeeds, Cadas is prone. You'd be in the square that Rogar occupies currently, so you'll have to choose either the left or right of that square to land in. You can decide if you still want to enlarge and/or attack or take some other action. The melee attack from prone will be at a -4 penalty. After that 12 hp dmg, I show Cadas at 18/30 hp.

Robin is up for the good guys once Cadas settles on her actions above.

Inactive

I think Nualia was still subject to Hideous Laughter, so she is prone and unable to act this round. She has to spend a full round action to attempt another save.

F Human Shoanti [AC: 23/12 tch/21 ff; HP 83/95; Frt +9, Ref +5, Will +13; Perc +19/21 vs creatures] Cleric 10, Init:+1, Diplo +8, Heal +15, Sense Motive +15

Cadas will fall prone where she is now and spend the rest of the round standing back up.

I should her at 20 of 32

Robin the Jester wrote:

I realized this in the middle of the night last night...Sorry, you can disregard her move and cast. I will try another Save as full round action now.

Nualia DC 17 Will: 1d20 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 4 = 16

So Nualia remains prone on the floor in fits of laughter and giggles (likely at my inability to roll a decent save). I will move her back into the original square and mark her as prone, so you can tell. Rogar's attacks above are still misses even with the -4 penalty to AC from prone, and Cadas' attack is not an action due to her rising from prone during this round instead.

Now back to our show...Cadas rises from prone, and Robin is up for the good guys once again.

Ouch! That spell was way more effective than it should've been!"

"Roll over, doggy. Roll over! Just like your mommy!" Robin taunts the hound, hoping to distract it. Taunt: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18 vs 10+HD+Wis mod, or else it's shaken. He takes a step backwards.

Nualia's Fight - Round 2 - concluded

Robin's taunting of the yeth hound may seem unwise, but it successfully makes the dog shaken as the court bard steps back towards the hallway.

Malcolm's summoning spell ends with a wolf appearing out of thin air and attacking the yeth hound. After bringing forth the feral ally, Malcolm concentrates on the yeth beast lobbing an acid dart at the creature and striking it squarely in the flank.

End of Round 2

Wolf Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Dmg to Yeth: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Acid Dart, into melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 3 - 4 = 18
Acid dmg to yeth: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Nualia's Fight - Round 3

20 Korvek
19 Rogar
16 Cadas
15 Nualia (prone, laughing, 13 hp dmg)
14 Yeth Hound (19 dmg)
11 Robin
4 Malcolm

Korvek continues fighting swinging as heartily as he can at the prone aasimar before him, who is suffering from some sort of laughing fit. The blow strikes Nualia hard, she winces once, stops laughing for a bit, her eyes glowing eerily, then she relaxes, unconscious and bleeding on the floor.

Korvek, PA: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Dmg: 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 5, 3) + 10 = 23

Rogar and Cadas are up for the heroes, but the main enemy Nualia is down.

Male Dwarf Ranger 4 | HP 30/30 | AC 21 | T 12 | FF 19 | F +9 | R +9 | W +6 | I +4 | P +10

Cadas enlarges and strikes at the hound, knowing that he weapon's damage will not all get through. She does manage to flank with the wolf though.

MW Trident: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 = 182d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 = 8

Nualia's Fight - Round 3 - continued

Rogar's two-handed shield bash fails to hit the floating dog, but Cadas successfully punctures it with her trident. The creatures resistance to normal weapon magically shields if from some of the damage however.

Nualia keeps bleeding on the floor, hemorrhaging from the massive wounds from Korvek's axe.

The flanked and angry yeth hound snaps at Rogar with its massive, ugly jaws, but the savage bite is turned aside by the shield of the dwarf.

Nualia CON check: 1d20 + 2 - 6 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 6 = 8
Yeth Hound Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Action is down to Robin, then Malcolm and his summoned wolf will be next.

Inactive

Robin continues to taunt the dog mercilessly, knowing that there are two stout dwarves between him and trouble. Taunt: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20.

Nualia's Fight - Round 3 - concluded

Robin's taunts continue to make the yeth hound shaken as the summoned wolf leaps for it. The canine teeth have little effect against the magically resistant yeth hound however.

Malcolm throws an Acid Dart at the hound. The acid splashes on the dog burning it and causing it to fall to the ground, unconscious.

End of Combat

Wolf Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Wolf Dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Malcolm ranged touch, into melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 4 = 17
Acid dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Hurray! You defeated the BBEG without much trouble at all. The yeth hound is worth 800xp and Nualia comes in at 1600. That means total of 600 per player. That moves your cumulative total to 7679/10000 or about 42% to level 5.

F Human Shoanti [AC: 23/12 tch/21 ff; HP 83/95; Frt +9, Ref +5, Will +13; Perc +19/21 vs creatures] Cleric 10, Init:+1, Diplo +8, Heal +15, Sense Motive +15

Resuming her normal size, Cadas will detact magic in the room and begin a careful search. She will also make sure the demon-woman is dead.

Nualia is, in fact, not dead. She is unconscious and bleeding and will die without attention, or she can be stabilized and restored. It is up to you.

Three items detect as magic in the room: Nualia's breastplate, her bastard sword, a medallion in the shape of a silver disc with the (now familiar) seven-pointed star inscribed upon it that she wears round her neck on a leather cord (and used early in the encounter).

Additionaly, she has a MW composite longbow and 20 arrows, a golden holy symbol of Lamashtu, 7pp, and 5 gp in her possession.

Spellcraft DC 18 Breastplate:
+1 breastplate, medium sized

Spellcraft DC 18 Bastard Sword:

Spellcraft DC 20 Medallion:
Sihedron Medallion, grants wearer +1 resistance on all saves. Once per day as a free action, may grant wearer False Life at CL 5. Placed round the neck of a dead body, the medallion preserves the body indefinitely, via a Gentle Repose effect.

Malcolm attempts to ID the magical items for the party.

Breastplate: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Sword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Medallion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

He is able to ID the armor and the Medallion, but the sword eludes him this day.

You may all read the spoilers for those two items. I have listed them all on your Loot Tracker, and split the 75gp of coins found among the 5 surviving characters.
