Greatly wounded, Helm nevertheless moves to engage the archer.

"You will not live past this day," he says.

Challenge to the archer, I get +1 dmg and DR/1 vs. the archer.

katana (cold iron)(two-handed)(power attack): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d8 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 = 11

GM Rolls:

Touched channel: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Brute vs eagle: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 1 - 1 = 19 for 1d10 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 3 = 18
Archer vs Helm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 for 1d8 ⇒ 8

The robed man in the back shambles further back and seems to focus on Helm and Taicho for a moment (deselecting them with Selective Channeling) and then works to heal his allies by channeling his patron's power.

The brute turns to the eagle.

"RARRGH! Enough of you!"

The lumbering brute swings his club at the eagle that continues to harry him and the shadowy form nearly explodes in response (18 damage to the eagle). The brute then steps up next to Helm and stretches his kneck and arms as he prepares for another swing.

The archer takes a step back from Helm and aims at the samurai, hoping to slow his advance. His arrow misses as the archer seems more concerned about giving the grease wide berth than landing his mark.

Round 2 Con't
14 Helm : Challenges and advances to the archer, misses
3 Van : Draws wand and moves to MacDowell

Round 3
20 Taicho : Slashes prone swordsman for 6hp, dropping him unconcious (now at -16hp)

I believe that's three hits on the brute. Here's the NPC statuses as we await Helm...

15 Brute (B) (-4hp):
15 Swordsman (S) (-16hp) : Unconscious
15 Archer (A) :

He should have taken a total of 7 damage from the eagle - 4 damage from that first bite, then 3 more hits, you said.

With a subtle twirl of his stencils, another shadowy bird, slightly different in appearance, erupts into being and resumes its predecessor's assault on the brute.

Here comes a NEW shadowy celestial eagle puppet! It appears in a flank with Helm, and launches a full attack complete with Smite on the Brute. Make another DC 16 Will save. I then move as indicated.

talon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

talon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Van, I think you still have an action for this round.

Will DC16: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Taicho's swordwork comes up just short as the wily elven archer seems to possess great speed in side-stepping his attack.

The brute, seeing another shadowy eagle laughs.

"HA! Seen that trick before!"

Helm's wounds continue to hinder his attacks.

The touched man begins to circle around the combat to the fallen swordsman while the brute swings and fails to hit the latest eagle.

The archer proves to have the most luck as he steps back and looses an arrow at Taicho, hitting the tengu (for 3 damage)

@MacDowell: You don't notice any symbols, including a holy symbol, carried by the Touched Man that would indicate from where his divine powers are obtained (oracle).

The Pathfinders manage to regroup and inflict a barrage of light wounds to their foes. Helm slashes at the archer, who drops to the ground while Taicho stabs the Touched Man and MacDowell clubs the brute.

The Touched Man takes a few steps back from Taicho, and once again a ripple of healing washes over his allies (selects out Helm and Taicho but does heal MacDowell for 2).

"Fools! We will have our prize!"

The brute turns his wrath to MacDowell, but his powerful swing barely misses the Asmodean, reminding him that he's just one powerful blow away from a permanent union with his Dark Prince.

The archer stirs from unconsciousness at Helm's feet and with little to do, he draws his shortsword and stabs erratically at the samurai.

Can I keep my errant arrow? An even number says I can: 1d100 ⇒ 72

The shadow eagle suddenly appears from out of the darkness behind the touched man and attacks.

Eagles have a fly speed of 80 feet, it has no trouble making it over there safely. Make a DC 16 Will save, Touched Man.

Between Van's magic missile and the retcon to Xasay's bonuses, we have the telling blow to bring the Touched Man down!

As you search the fallen forms of your attackers, you pick out a couple potions to help get yourselves back to your feet. It's a short trek back to Dreng's alleyway lookout, but the venture captain is nowhere to be found.

You do however notice a group of Pathfinders you recognize as fresh recruits headed towards the Wounded Wisp, muttering something about getting an old man a bottle of wine...

And that's a wrap!
