Round 1
Naz will double move into the room toward the remaining fletchling.
| DM Panic |
The combined efforts of Kildrek and Giovanni bring the second of the grey-skinned guards to the ground, unconscious.
Meanwhile, the flames flare up briefly around the Giovanni before flaring out.
Alchemist fire (burn): 1d6 ⇒ 5
Out of combat!
One of the fetchlings has a key on a ring attached to his belt.
Beyond the shadowy torture implements, tapestries, obelisk, dragonhides, taxidermied wyvern, a pair of doors lead to other rooms.
From beyond one, more concerned conversation can be overheard.
"Is it over?"
"That was fast?"
"Who won?"
"The shadow-men? The town guard?"
Kildrek Autumnwind
|
Kildrek decides to channel positive energy to heal any of his allies who is currently injured.
Heal!: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Umm, lemme try that again!
HEAL!: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Hmm, maybe I ain't faithful 'nough yet. Anyway, sounds like them people need help! Kildrek will go toward the sound of the voices.
| DM Panic |
Opening the the door with the key you just liberated, you take a look at the room beyond.
Several stalls stand against the east wall of this dank, stone room. A large grate in the floor collects a steady stream of water coming from one of the stalls. The rattle of chains echoes through the chamber and the stench of frightened, unwashed bodies fills the air.
There are currently five slaves here, spread between the four stalls on the eastern wall.
All are chained to the wall with masterwork manacles. Two of the slaves look like they've been here for weeks and are branded with some sort of strange rune on their forehead.
"It's not the grey-skins!"
"Please sirs! Free us!"
They rattle their chains and look up with hope on their faces as they share their names and the meager details of their capture and imprisonment.
"We were taken... there... there... were two others. Two women, finely dressed."
Agon Abstruss
|
"You're free now. We're here to rescue everyone here." Agon takes a look over the captured slaves. "We will rescue the two women, as well. Do you know where they went?"
Agon knows this kind of room all too well, and he's glad to free them and grant them relief from whatever horrible treatment they were subjected to.
"Please, wait by the entrance while we continue to investigate. If we're not back out by sunrise, return to the Pathfinder Lodge. Captain Drandle Dreng will gladly help you."
Giovanni di Pietro di Bernadone
|
Giovanni frowns when he sees the poor condition of the slaves.
If they are going to treat another sentient as property, the leas they could do is treat them well; how do they expect to get a return on their investment if they look like this?
With a sigh, Giovanni tries to free them from their bonds, before moving on to the other door that exited from the main room.
Kildrek Autumnwind
|
Pick 'em? I didn't choose for ya to be here! Kildrek then looks for a corpse with a curved dagger so he can search him.
Nemrok Blacktusk
|
Guess we will find this curving dagger guy soon enough. I don't have that type of skills.
The best way is to find the key to free you gentlemen.
Are all from Absalom ? Or do some of you are from the Shadow plane ?
Agon Abstruss
|
"Damn...Nemrok is correct. Rest assured, we will come back for you once we find that blackheart and take his key."
Agon walks up to the door, longsword ready.

With no way to free the prisoners in hand, they reluctantly agree to wait until the key can be found, hopefully elsewhere within the museum's shadowy realm.
Agon and Giovanni step up to the other door here and after hearing nothing within, open it.
This simple room of unadorned stone is piled from floor to ceiling with boxes and crates, with barely enough room left to allow the staff to squeeze between the towers of dusty, mothballed exhibits.
Just as Agon is about to step forward and investigate, Giovanni realizes the room is not as empty as it appears, catching the scent of fur and animal and recognizing something lurking in the shadows.
A shadowy hound, mostly obscured by a crate along the eastern wall howls at the scent of unrecognized intruders.

Eyeing the hound, Agon's mind slips to the fate of the prisoners. He focuses on helping them over his own safety, and holds his ground.

As Giovanni bolts from the doorway, Agon stands firm. Finn and Nazgul likewise head to the main hall.
The shadowy hound beyond the crate growls ominously but does not emerge to the doorway where Agon stands.
Unfortunately for those remaining in the room filled with torture implements, Giovanni's capture means those who remain are standing in darkness.

Kildrek Autumnwind

I can see just fine! Since he has darkvision he didn't take the Light cantrip.
Kildrek will move behind Agon and Nemrok and grants the former friend Guidance. He then waits to give his friends any additional aid that might be required. If I can see the beast from where I stand I will indicate his position.

bite vs Agon AC18: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 - 1 = 11 for 1d4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 3 = 9
As Agon steps up amid his fleeing companions, Nemrok so too advances, firing an arcane bolt into the shadow-tinged canine. It yelps with a furious bark before leaping forward, a long silvery chain now becoming apparent as it stretches its bondage to the maximum length before snapping at Agon (and missing). Kildren reaches out, guiding Agon.

Bite vs Agon AC14: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 6 - 1 = 23 for 1d4 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 3 = 7
Agon's sword narrowly misses the agile canine. The beast growls, leaps and tears into him yet again, but the wound is undone by Kildrek's restorative administrations.
Kildrek's technically after the shadow hound, so this would mean Agon has taken 15 damage (drops to -4hp) before he's healed for 9 from the CLW. Since this was my mistake for saying 'Everyone' was up before, we'll say this time the healing and the injury happen simultaneously to avoid Agon falling prone and unconscious at this stage.

So his sword scrapes the ground to compensate. "How embarassing..."
Kildrek Autumnwind

No, since I go right after the hound, as soon as he bit him the first time, I healed him (the very next post, in fact). At least that's how I saw it. Now he has been hit again he should be injured for 7 more, which I will channel to heal. Right?

@Kildrek: You are right after the hound, so it's turn resolves before your actions take effect. Or to think of it another way, you're first up after the hound's actions complete (by ending each round).
Ill luck falls upon the Pathfinders as their repeated attempts to strike the shadowy hound fall short.
Nemrok knows his arcane bolts never, or at least rarely, fail and launches yet another into the canine.
