Cherias the Kitling |
fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Oh good, I didn't have much strength to spare!
Cherias winces as the shark tears into Seren, as his spell transfers much of the damage to his own shoulder.
5 damage healed to Seren, 5 damage transferred to Cherias.
Cherias swims back a bit from the shark, and starts to summon aid. 5-ft step to I25. (We have a swim speed from Touch of the Sea, so 5-ft steps while swimming is possible.) Starts to cast Summon Nature's Ally II SLA.
Melianthe Ssulissien |
Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Melianthe reels with the hex from the sea hag, and lurches away from Skinshear. She targets the shark with her Slumber Hex, meeting its dead eye with her glowing one. "Don't...need...strength.." she slurs, although she clearly does.
Absinthe Mooneyes |
Fortitude save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
"Oh, no!" Absinthe snaps. "Not this time! Casters, disengage from the shark and focus on the Hag! Segang, shark, NOW!"
Even while she barks orders, Absinthe swims up to Skinshear and lashes out at the beast with her rapier, jabbing for whatever vital places she can find.
Absinthe moves to G24 and attacks. Rapier 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 damage.
Segang |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 Could have been 4 higher if he was able to rage. :(
Segang smiles at the watery hag as he feels his rage building.
The dice are with us, at least for now. I need to know if the shark is slumbered before Segang acts.

Depending on Mel's slumber hex, Seren does one of two things
Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
1) Slumbered shark: move east 30 feet to H29 and ready a color spray for approach
2) Not so slumbered shark: move 5 feet south and use a binding darkness on the shark.
Segang |
I missed that Mel acted twice before Segang got to go. Don't do that Mel. It messes me up. I guess it also messed up Seren because his action, that happens before the slumber also depends on that hex. So, since the hex had not be cast yet, Seren must have taken choice 2. But that is a ranged touch attack and Seren did not roll those dice. So I need to know if Binding Darkness hit the shark. If so then Segang has a miss chance on the shark and will move to attack the hag. If not then he will attack the shark. Lets all try to go on our turn so this can go faster.
Segang stabs at something...but likely misses.

You didn't miss anything. Mel's initiative was first, the hag's 2nd, then everyone else. I asked for her 1st round's action (misfortune) before posting the hag/shark and asking for the rest of the group's inputs. To keep things flowing, I also asked Mel for her (start of) round 2 action. Absinthe, Cherias, Seren and Segang all go (in round 1) before that happens.
Segang |
Roger that. So did Seren's spell hit? Rolling a 2 to hit with his spear means it might not matter. But it will determine where Segang is. A hit means he has moved to the hag. A miss means he did not move.

Round One, continued...
Initiative Order: Absinthe [18], Cherias [14], Seren [12], Segang [8] \\ Melianthe [25], Yvicca/Skinshear [18]
Absinthe swims at the shark, shouting orders and stabbing it hard with her rapier, adding to the blood in the water. Cherias begins a summoning chant, while Seren also casts a spell, covering Skinshear in a miasma of entangling shadows.
Segang swims quickly at the hag and stabs his longspear. She sees the incoming attack and easily dodges aside. Melianthe attempts to hex the shark into sleep, but it resists.
Skinshear balks at the shadows, swimming out of the hatch and withdrawing up and around the hull, out of sight. The hag continues to cackle madly, closing the gap and stabbing Segang with her own spear.

Cherias the Kitling |
Casting complete of SNAll. Small Water Elemental appears at H30.
Cherias's plea for aid is answered, and in the water appears a man - shaped volume of something like solid water. The elemental surges forward in a charge to attack the hag, as Cherias calls forth a blessing on all of his allies, including the one who just appeared.
Cherias casts bless. The elemental will then charge to H32 to attack.
Attack with power attack, bless, water mastery, charge: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 - 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 12
Bah! I'll post a little later tonight with lifelink healing and so forth.

Cherias the Kitling |
OK. Segang got hit for 11, his DR reduced that to 9. 4 of that went to Cherias. Then both Seren and Segang were at 5 damage at the beginning of Cherias's turn, so both healed 5 (back at full) and Cherias took 10. I should have healed instead of blessed... oh well, next round I guess!
Absinthe Mooneyes |
Having a bit of network bother, so I can't access the map. Please position me appropriately.
Absinthe stabs at the retreating shark just once, then turns her attention to the beast's mistress.
"Cut the Hag down before her pet can return!" Absinthe growls, and she kicks out strongly, streaking off in the enemy's direction. Provided she makes it to her in time, she lashes out with her rapier.
If Absinthe can get in an AoO, she does so: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Afterwards, she swims up to the Hag and attacks if she can get within range on time. Attack roll 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2. If she hits and there's a flanking position available, she flanks. Please add +2 to attack roll and 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8 sneak attack damage.
Segang |
Segang stabs at the hag after 5' moving to help Absinthe flank.
Longspear: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 1 = 121d8 + 7 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 6 = 17 Sigh. Another 2. Is this going to be one of those fights again?

Round Two
Initiative Order: Absinthe [18], Cherias [14], Seren [12], Segang [8] \\ Melianthe [25], Yvicca/Skinshear [18]
Absinthe spins and swims quickly towards the hag and Segang (too far to move and attack this round). Cherias blesses the group, while the blurry form of his summoned elemental swings and misses a strike at the hag.
Seren hurls shadows at her, but his aim is poor. Similarly, Segang cannot connect with his spear either. Melianthe casts a curse and the hag screeches and starts flailing about, blindly.
"For that, I will skin you alive and chew off your fingers!" she howls at Melianthe. She stabs and claws towards Absinthe, still managing to stab her hard despite being blind.
Skinshear reappears, charging up the hull to attack Seren from behind. Seren is able to lunge out of the shark's path at the last moment.
Actions?
Yvicca Will save vs Melianthe's hex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 {fail}

Skinshear vs Seren: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 {miss}
Cherias the Kitling |
Cherias takes 5 damage from Absinthe, who is now only down 9. Then He channels energy, excluding the hag and the shark.
Positive Energy: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3) = 11
Everyone but Cherias is at full now. Cherias moves to I29.
If the elemental can 5-ft step to I 33 and still attack the hag, it will do so, otherwise steps to H33. (Unless the grey rectangle is an obstacle that would provide cover.)
Power attack, water mastery, bless: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 - 1 + 1 + 1 = 16 +2 if it can get to I33
damage if that hits: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 3 = 9

Round Three
Initiative Order: Absinthe [18], Cherias [14], Seren [12], Segang [8] \\ Melianthe [25], Yvicca/Skinshear [18]
Absinthe cannot move to flank but takes good advantage of the hag's blindness and pierces deeply with her rapier. Cherias swims over and calls a burst of healing power. His summoned elemental slides behind the hag and slams her hard. The hag screeches in rage.
Seren turns and casts a spell at the shark, to no seeming effect. Melianthe turns and casts a hex upon it. The shark just continues its chomping assault, bloodying Melianthe.
Segang holds position, using his flank with the elemental to strike and leave a telling wound. The hag emits a string of vile curses, spinning wildly in the water while shifting form into that of a malformed shark. Swimming blindly, she tries to escape.
Everyone gets an AoO while she swims for the exit...
Actions for R4?
Skinshear bite vs Melianthe: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

I have forgotten if we have any type of bonuses to hit going, like Bless or something. My hope is that a 14 will hit a blind shark.
Cherias the Kitling |
Bless is active and the flanking bonus should still apply since she provokes an AoO while still in the square she's leaving.
Water elemental AoO; power attack, bless, water mastery, flanking: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 11 Probably misses.
Cherias absorbs some of the pain from Melianthe, her wounds closing as matching ones open on the felinoid oracle. Lifelink heals 5 dmg on Melianthe, deals 5 damage to Cherias.
Cherias heals himself with a touch. CLW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
I'll post the water elemental's action for the round in about an hour or so, gotta keep my work breaks short.
Cherias the Kitling |
The water elemental uses its extraordinary water speed to chase down the hag. Water elementals have 90ft swim speed, so it is moving to J21.
Water elemental AoO; power attack, bless, water mastery, flanking: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 23
damage with power attack and water mastery (I forgot water mastery last time): 1d6 + 3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 3 + 1 = 10
Note: if AoOs turn out to have killed the hag, this attack will be on the shark instead.

No sleepin' bastard ... let's try the darkness again ... worked last time ...
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Absinthe Mooneyes |
Absinthe jabs her rapier at the escaping hag, cursing villainously while she does so.
AoO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 damage.
With the malformed shark out of immediate range, the tiefling strikes out strongly for the more natural-looking shark bedeviling Melianthe, and jabs her blade at it, instead.
"Away with you, you sushi-ingredient! You floundering lump of soup stock!" she shouts as she lashes out.
Absinthe swims to I25 and sttack the shark: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage.
Melianthe Ssulissien |
Sorry, folks, I had travel and then a family medical thingy. Back now!

Round Four
The blinded hag-shark makes an easy target, but for her erratic and darting path. Segang and Absinthe leave their mark as she flees, but it is Seren's strike that stops her. She shifts back to her natural form as she dies, staining the surrounding water with putrid, green blood.
Absinthe swims over and stabs at it. Seren's shadowy spell flies wide.
Skinshear frenzies as its master dies, rending into more of Melianthe's soft flesh.
