Welcome, Gryggax. Glad you could join us. Tell me, are you any good at being a face character?
I've typically always played clerics and bards, so I am used to doing it, whether I am good at it or not, I don't know.
I have a profile on Roll 20, but I am having trouble finding the game.
I understand being wary of my posting regularity on here, but I could not find a Starfinder game at the local gameshop and a lady there recommended this website.

I was mainly thinking in terms of skills for Gryggax. While Blacklock can be a face, it doesn't seem to be what he's built for, and I'm worse than average at talking to people.

I was also going to point out that you don't get the class bonus for your skills unless you actually put at least one rank in it. I had noticed that you figured it into some of the skills that didn't have ranks invested in them.

Thanks for catching that. I worked up this character on a word doc and copied and pasted before checking everything over. I planned on putting ranks in some of those skills in the future.
Also, I have mindlink once per day and next level, almost at will. How should I communicate this. I know that I can use the thought commands, but how do you prefer I indicate it in play?

I've a ghostwise halfling player in another game who uses spoilers. Something like...
Blacklock feels the psyche of Gryggax enter his mind....
** spoiler omitted **
Ok, if that works for everybody, I will do it that way, thanks!

Just to be clear, I had Boris dump his weapons on Digdig before going into the club. He was trying to follow the rules, he just didn't want to hand them over to the bouncers. He should adjacent to Digdig when the fight breaks out.
I apologize. I didn't read far enough into the encounter description. They are supposed to fight on sight of weapons. I botched that up. Leave Boris have his weapons and if you choose to move back, I will put the guard back as well, but keep the attack. My apologies.

Gryggax |

Hey all. Let me know here when you are ready on the map. Also, someone will need to enter first. I volunteer if necessary, I just want to know if there is a consensus on whether we go in with weapons drawn, or we go in diplomatically.

DM Nation |

@Blacklock, I am confused. your token is in the room on the roll20 site and you have stated in a previous post that you entered the "Staff only" room, (where your token is currently located). Are you rescinding this decision? Also, if you decide to enter, do you have your weapon visible. I assumed not becuase Blacklock has that great concealment trick. If you entered without showing your weapon, it is ok, their response id just to tell you to get out.
@everyone else, the guards are playing cards and not currently aiming weapons at you as are the tokens. I just copied the earlier DK guards for timesaving.

DM Nation |

Sorry, I moved the token then said I entered unless someone stopped me. Then Breaker stopped me. I never moved the token back, my mistake.
No big deal. I just need a decision about what the party will do next. We can pretend that that last post did not happen. Regroup if you choose and then decide what everyone wants to do. I'm kind of in limbo here. You don't even have to go in there if you do not want to.

The plan is to approach the bar and try to see if we can talk our way back there.
And by we, I mean Blacklock and Gryggax because Alpha-83 isn’t good at talking to anyone.

Gryggax |

To clarify, my understanding is that Gryggax should offer information at the bar about Level 21? Also, should I really give the information about Level 21? I'm thinking that it is better to not hand them over right now. Unfortunately, I do not possess the Bluff skill, yet.

DM Nation |

Ok Gryggax, I’m going to say that Chiskisk filled you in with all of the info that the rest of the party knows. I am also going to say that in future posts, you will need to use sleight of hand to continue to conceal your weapon and role bluff when you say something that is not true. You are welcome to roll Diplomacy each time before you speak to improve the attitude of any unfriendly.

The site can be buggy sometimes. A few times it has brought me to the log in page after I pressed the submit post button. Whenever I do longer posts, I usually keep copying it as I write, because I've been burned enough times.

That explains it. Also, it was a rare phone post, so I thought that it may have something to do with it as well.

Hey, I just noticed a possible mistake on my char sheet and wanted to verify. I have 1 RP listed but it should be half char level + key ability mod = 4, right?
@Blacklock, you are correct.
Also, Gryggax, you have 4 spell slots total, not 3. I checked your stats and I believe that you shorted yourself.

It's hard to follow movement on a board over PbP, but it seemed like there was some moving and shooting in melee, which normally provokes AoO. If we are going to just hand wave away AoOs, I guess I'd like to know because then I could adjust my tactics for that.

I’m following the above link to the rules of Aoo for future reference. Could you be specific about which round you are inquiring about?

There was this one:
The top guard focuses now on Blacklock as there seem to be two of him. Drawing the laser pistol in a tight bead upon him , the ganger fires a shot.
[dice=Attack]1d20+6 [dice=damage]1d6+1
Of course, this is pending your illusory roll for the clones.
The middle guard shoots at Digdig.
[dice=Attack]1d20+6 [dice=damage]1d6+1The bottom guard shoots at Breaker.
[dice=Attack]1d20+6 [dice=Damage]1d6+1
Digdig takes a burning shot into his metal frame, while Breaker suffers a similar attack to his left torso causing searing pain and adding a little more burnt flesh smell to the room.
Still Round Two, Boris and Blacklock, inflict some damage!
There was this one:
With one guard down, the middle ganger moves back ten feet then stops to fire her pistol at Digdig. The shot hits the drone squarely into what can only be described as its mechanical torso, burning a large hole and draining it of all of its energy. Digdig is at 0HP
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
And there is also Blacklock shooting into melee.
I am honestly just getting pretty confused with the fight. I've been making decisions based on expecting AoOs happening from 1)Ranged attacks; 2)Moving out of threatened squares, with the exception of taking a guarded step; 3)Casting spells. If I'm the only one interested in paying attention to this, then maybe it would be better just to hand wave the rule away. I'd prefer that then having AoOs be something that sometimes happen and sometimes don't; nor do I really want to be the only one keeping track of them.

I definitely do not want to dismiss Aoos from this game. As a player, it is my personal favorite tactic. I too am confused about what you mean exactly, even after reviewing. I granted all of the Aoos that you took, except for Boris’ ranged Starknife Attack against Hatchbuster as he never moved into or out of a square that was threatened by Boris. We will continue to use attacks of opportunity as long as they meet the requirements in the above link. It is entirely possible that I missed something. The only hand-waving that I plan on doing in the future is anything minor that will help to keep the game flowing, player rolls not among those items. I am learning that the very nature of pbp is slow.
