Hello and welcome aboard Sim, Sam, Tamara, Barek, and Gwendolyn. I am really really looking forward to getting this going and interweaving your individual backgrounds into the game. Please post here your final builds. If you have any questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer them. I will be available for the next 3 hours to answer any questions or to simply chat. If you are new to the boards and this is your first play by post game please let me know and let the others here welcome you to one of the best places for games on the interwebs.

For those of you who are ready to play I will try and get a gameplay thread up for you to start posting in. If your not ready please don't feel rushed or pressured its just I don't want those who are done to get bored...post when ready.

Glad to be here. Thanks so much for selecting me. It's ok to chose Barek as the target of Lovesick right? I'm guessing you probably want a blurb on that? Maybe we can roleplay what happens at the funeral? I'm certainly ready for gameplay. It would be nice to at least be able to dot so it shows up in gameplay.

@Barek: Do you have any preference for how the romance should play out? Anything you would like/not like to see(confident, shy, submissive, dominant or anything else?)? I hope he'll eventually reciprocate Tamara's feelings, though who would refuse the advanced of such a charming lady?

It would be nice to see the sheets of Sim and Sam. I don't even know what classes they are. Cavalier and Rogue?

You're sure you don't want to go back on your decision to not let me stack spirit guide and dual cursed right? It would offer more fun options for Tamara as we continue to level.

@Sam Calinean: Is it correct that you have no ranks in ride? Riding with both hands free in combat requires a DC 5 ride check. Though it seems like you haven't allocated background skills, so you can just put one of those points there (or rather put one into handle animal then one of the normal ones into ride). I just want to help, I hope that's ok.

I HATE HATE HATE making maps so if you could do that for me that would be GREAT! Combat maps included if its not to much trouble.

Not going to be riding a whole lot, Its more of a animal companion than a mount for now. I had forgotten about backround skills though so yes... Now I have some ridding capabilities.

Me too. Often traveling back and forth to work or otherwise out and about, but sometimes when I can't easily reach the computer as well.

@DM: Even if the game already started, what is your thoughts about Sim and Sam get the Family Ties drawback?

Family Ties: Your family is extremely important to you, and you feel disheartened when you can’t do what they ask. When a family member makes a request of you, you must fulfill that request or take a –2 penalty on all Wisdom- and Charisma-based ability checks and skill checks until you either do what was requested or succeed at a DC 20 Will saving throw, which you can attempt once per day at the start of each day. You can’t take this drawback if you have no family. If you ever lose your family or lose contact with your family, exchange this drawback for the Doubt drawback.

I think it fits quite well in their story so...

In one of my other games, we have the 'tag' system... How it works:

I make my post and expect a reaction both from Gwen and Barek so I'd add, in OOC, tag Gwen and Barek... It works well and generally forces more interaction!

Hey guys I've got a map up of the restlands.

GM I copied that map and added our icons to the shared map hot linked in my vitals. You are welcome to rob that URL and put in campaign profile or whatever. Everyone has full access to the doc so you can add/delete/move stuff as you see fit!

I really like it when there is a link in the description of the game, saves a click to go to the game info as it's always available from the top of the page (or from the my games page).

EDIT:There map added to the description of the campaign. Just so you guys know the squares on the map are 20 foot not 5 foot. Hope you all are enjoying the game so far.

There might be a chance for combat coming up shortly depending on how much role play comes up so I thought I might take a chance to post how I do combat so you all know and things can run somewhat smoothly.

When combat is imminent I will roll init's for everyone. Each of you will post your actions for the round and roll any necessary rolls. These posts do not need to be made in init order, just post when ever you can. Then I will write up a round summary where I detail the success of each of your actions. Your actions will be resolved in initiative order so if your later in the initiative you may want to post a back up to what you want to do in the round, in case your first option is no longer viable.

How do you handle diplomacy? By RAW the first attempt is the only one who counts, but that is really awkward for pbp. It means people kinda have to wait around for the person with the higest score to roll or you get a lot of time wasted on needles coordination of mechanics. One solution I like is to just let whoever wants roll, take the higest result as the main one and the rest as aid. That does make it a whole lot easier to beat the DCs though, so they should be raised accordingly, though that does make it a whole lot more work.

I'll let everyone who wishes to attempt Diplomacy roll and then take the highest result, allowing anyone who scores 10 or above aid the highest result.

Hope that didn't cross a comfort line for you Gwen...figured it would be a little fun to see what happens.

Oh guys I should have mentioned this sooner but I am not using xp. I will tell you guys when to level.

I have only a single thing that I'm not really comfortable including in play writing. A lot of other people don't consider it that bad, so I come across it from time to time. That thing is castration. Pretty much everything else (in pretty much every rating category) I can handle just fine. Most such things are not usually found on this forum though. If you do have to include it, please refrain from going into detail.

That said I've played with people in the past who have been extremely uncomfortable about any topics of a sexual nature. It might be nice to know in advance if that includes any of you so we can avoid such details for Barek/Tamara or really anyone.

What do you guys think so far?

I am thoroughly enoying myself. Pace is nice and with all of the PC interactions it should keep going, even with quiet periods. Also because of the PC interactions I may or may not have pointed this thread out for some folks to read. They find it hilarious. Until we get to the dark and spooky bits. Then they'll probably just be laughing at our struggles. I dislike my friends sometimes...
