Male Goblin Ranger(Archtype: Trapper) [1]

Knowledge Check(nature):

DC10[untrained]: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Well, at least I know that potential fumble is out of the way.

Thakamaka assumes, albeit incorrectly, that he will get to wet his sword on another of his hated enemies and wait's for them to come barreling down on him by taking a readying stance and whacking his sword on his wooden shield.

"Nips and bites, the doggies will do, but Goblin blades cut them all neatly in two's. Bring your claws all clickty clak. I'll show you my fist and give you whack."

DM Question:

For bonuses vrs Goblin Dogs, I know it's safe to assume Ranger Favored enemy will be effective, as they are animals, as well as assuming my trait and feat, as they the both state horse/dog and horselike/doglike creatures, which should cover goblin dogs.

I was figuring that Gorge would NOT cover a goblin dog. As they aren't normally considered an enemy of goblins. So I wasn't planning on using that "bane" bonus damage or to hit bonus, unless it's something you know more about.

Though Thak, will be depressed to know it isn't a German Shepard or something cooler to skewer.

Battle Map

Thakmaka Answer:

The Bestiary indicates that they are "a species of rodent". It also mentions that the only reason they are called dogs, is because goblins could not come up with something more creative to call them.

The feat Dig Killer, Horse Hunter lists examples which would still be the same 'species' as canines and equines.

The trait, Dog-Sniff Hate, specifically mentions that it works on canines (or even canine-type relatives).

Goblin dogs are rodents, so although in appearance they may be similar they are of a different species. I believe only your favored enemy will be usefull against them.

Battle Map

The scraping of claws against the wooden ship deck are heard, and out of the smoke appear two goblin dogs which run down the ganplank, one of which jumps off near the end.

Those in front of the ship also see a dog run around the corner, about to enter the area of smoke.

They make no attacks as they used double moves to get where they are.

Joboo only:
You see Vorka climb a ladder to the second story. A large toad jumps up to accompany her. You notice that flames seem to emanate from one of her hands but did not seem to scortch the ladder when she climbed it.

Group 3 is up.

Can someone please let me know if they can still login to MapTools. I restarted my router a day ago and ever since I have not seen anyone logged into the server.

Hey DM Kor, Im unable to connect to the server. I thought it was just my hurting satellite connection yesterday but today Im also getting the same 'Cant connect to Kors campaign: time out error' message.

I think I fixed the problem now.

Joboo could hardly believe that he wasnt actually able to see Vorka and was praying fervently to the Ravaging Hunter that she hadnt seen him yet as he continued to make his way around the boat.

Round 1 Actions:

I didn't know(or forgot) they were rodents! Well ya that changes a few things, I'm glad I asked.

Consider my AC 2 higher due to shield (current AC: 23)

Standard:Attack the Goblin Dog at I9 (Closer to Mogmurch than me) in hopes to get them both to attack me and not him.

Gorge:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Move action: Taunt the animal into attacking me not Mogmurch via Wild Empathy by making hissing sounds, sticking out my tongue, and stamping my feet etc.
(Rushed) Wild Empathy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19

post roll edit: Darn dice! why couldn't you roll a natural 20 on the attack roll! You vex me board dice, you vex me!

In a dumb move for a Goblin, Thakamaka tries to get in the 'dogs' faces so they wont bite his fire loving friend Mormurch.

male Goblin witch /1

on his upcoming turn

Hrungee moves over to thegoblin dog near Mog murch and swings his mace with all his might.

DIE!DIE!DIE!

Attack 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1

WOW!!

Reflex1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Hrungee shows why he slings spells and not maces. While entirely missing the dog hrungee avoids hitting Mog in the process.

Woopsies!

Male Goblin (Licktoad Tribe) Alchemist/1

.Mogmurch tosses the vial of acid in his hand just behind the goblin dogs and watches them sizzle from behind..

Targeting a Grid centered on (J,9) AC 5: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 = 3 points of Acid Damage to all in grid.

Thakmaka like fire! Mogmurch likes fire very much!!! And the smell of burnt dog-rat! Hrungee switch places with me!!!

Battle Map

Round 1 Summary

Hrungee advances up by Thakmaka, who was already standing at the bottom of the gangplank.

Two rat dogs burst through the smoke fill area on the deck above, while another fierce-looking, furry canine prepares to descend the gang plank.

Joobo continues to slink around the side of the ship, peering upwards as if something has caught his attention.

Thakmaka makes a swing with his goblin cleaver at one of the goblin dogs but misses, while making strange noises which seem to annoy the other rat dog.

Mogmurch strides forward and tosses a vial of acid that shatters behind the dogs, burning their legs.

Battle Map

Round 2

Group 1: Hrungee (action completed)
Group 2: Vorka et al
Group 3: Joboo, Thakmaka, Mogmurch

On the second story you see Vorka appear beside the ship's cabin. She cackles, "I do like my meat a little crispy, lets start with the prettiest."

Vorka tosses a small ball of flame at Hrungee.

Produce flame ranged touch attack (-4 for firing into melee, +1 for higher ground)1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Thakmaka now has the attention of all the four-legged adversaries.

They attack in this order:

Goblin Dog #1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Goblin Dog #2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Cuddles: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Trip1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

I believe this takes Thakmaka down, but in the interest of fun, I will suggest that Mogmurch should use his action which he first posted. Originally he posted using the fire amulet, which would have killed the 2 goblin dogs as it he rolled 10 damage, the same number of hit points they have.

Round revision:

Mogmurch hesistates while he considers his options, but alas chooses to invoke the command word of his amulet and fries the goblin dogs to a crisp, amoungst horrible squeals of pain.

Hrungee, your attack target was killed, so I am going to say that you delayed your action however you have now been seriously scorched.

The dog runs down the ramp and bites a large chunk out of Thakmaka's leg nearly tripping him in the process.

he stayed as quiet as he could as well since he really wanted to get the drop on that old hag of a nightmare he'd heard about all of his short life.

I would have rather used my first action first, but couldn't get the damn template for the 15' cone to work right in maptools unless I was standing in Hrungee's spot. So that's fine with me!

I'm on my backup computer right now. My main computer has been hit with a nasty virus. I have many different levels of protection, plus I am very knowledgable on how to not get a virus, even accidentally. Despite all this, I got hit with a virus. I don't even use e-mail on that computer only go to about 8 different sites. I have to assume at this time that maptools is somehow responsible.

Well it took me a few hours but I was able to isolate the virus. No thanks to AVG *curses* Bedtime now, I will get us updated tomorrow. I am too nervous about running MapTools right now. I will install it on my "throw-away" computer so I don't have to worry about it.

Don't forget that each of you were given a CLW potion by Slorb. Also, don't forget about your 2 CMW potions that were found in the spider's lair.

Right you are Thakmaka. The dogs all narrowly missed you.

Male Goblin Ranger(Archtype: Trapper) [1]

I haven't got any virus warnings from Maptools yet, but I'll run a thorough check and see what happens.

male Goblin witch /1

Ithought i had already used my CLW potion but it looks like I still have it.WOOT!

Round 3

Group 1: Vorka and minions
Group 2: Hrungee, Joboo, Thakmaka, Mogmurch

Horrifed at seeing her pets being ripped to pieces, and with the threat of her home being burnt, Vorka's demeanor changes from boisterous taunting to vile anger. "You must all die you filthy scum!"

Vorka launches a small fireball down at Thakmaka.

Produce flame ranged touch attack: (-4 for firing into melee, +1 for higher ground)1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

The fireball hits Thakmaka solidly in the chest, however Vorka is surprise to see that it did not scortch him nearly as much as she thought it would. (Thanks to the magic cape, Thakmaka only takes 2 fire damage).

Cuddles viciously snaps at Thakmaka.

Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Trip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Cuddles takes a chunk out of the ranger's leg and topples him. The dog itself seems most unsteady on its feet after this attack, it too almost collapses.

Hrungee drinks a healing potion. (Total damage healed is 7, due to my house healing rule).

The rest of Group 2 is up (Thakmaka, Joboo and Mogmurch).

Joboo:
Sure, you can change your action. Where you have yourself placed right now though on the map would take a double move to have gotten there by stealth. If you just climbed the ladder with stealth then you would still have a standard action to throw, but the large toad behind him would give him cover (-4 to attack). "You dirty gobo sneek!" Vorka shouts in surprise as she turns around to see Joboo on the second deck. "Stick'em", she shouts at the toad.

Lord Longtongue hops 5' forward and from a range of 15', lashes out with his tongue.
Touch attack with tongue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

The toad's tongue wraps itself around Joboo, causing no damage, but pulls him next to Lord Longtongue. Joboo is grappled.

Cuddles moves foward and again engages his quarry, Thakmaka.

Saddened that Cuddles misses his opponent, Vorka throws down another ball of fire at Thakmaka which seems to extinguish the flames which were emanating from her hand.

Produce flame ranged touch attack: (-4 for firing into melee, +1 for higher ground): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Joboo: Yes your bull strength potion is still active. I have adjusted the hp damage to the frog accordingly, and with the combined extra damage from the strength increase on all your attacks, you just killed it on your last attack!

Round 4 Summary

Vorka: From the second deck she threw another small ball of fire down at Thakmaka. The flames that had seemed to be alit in her hand now dissipated. Causing 6 fire damage, after adjusting for Fire Resistance
Dog (Cuddles): Snaps at Thakmaka but misses completely.
Hrungee: Gazed at Vorka, giving her 'the evil eye'. Vorka seemed largely unfazed by the effect. Vorka made her save and has -2 to her AC for 1 round.
Joboo: Escaped being entwined within Lord Longtongue's tongue, and struck back with another thrust of his dagger killing the toad.
Mogmurch: Called upon the power of the amulet and barbequed Cuddles to a crisp.
Thakmaka: Ran up the plank and headed to a ladder where he can access the second deck where Vorka is. I moved Thakmaka, as he has not posted his move in the last 24 hours. He has double moved and is under the second deck, so I have put a blue halo around him to reflect this on MapTools.
