YAY!

@ Tenro. My usual feat progression with caster-y druids is 1st Spell Focus: Conj, 3rd Augment Summons, 5th natural spell, and then who knows?
With melee/wild shape druids, build it like a fighter to emphasize your good stats. weapon finesse for dex, power attack for strength, etc

ah thanks for the advice. i am thinking i should probably head down the caster-y route. i have good dex but plan on sticking to ranged combat whenever possible. i figure whatever i change to will be the biggest scariest strongest thing he knows, that's the goblin way.

Something like a hideous belch being violated by a hiccup escapes Jakka's lips. Her hand flies to her mouth, but not quickly enough to stop Quivrel's toad from leaping out, apparently none the worse for his dark journey.

"Too lumpy anyway," is Jakka's only comment.

Best not to be anything edible or inedible around Foul Vaghdra. She eats anything, living or dead, animal, vegetable, mineral.

DM Kor: I'm not sure that the Callous Intimidator feat (+1 Intimidate PLUS negative Cha modifier becomes positive for Intimidate etc) ain't broke. I dump dump dumped my Charisma down to 5 (7 -2 for goblin) and got a great deal on Intimidate AND lowering my Cha gave me extra points to spend on other stats. In fact I only spent 24 out of my 25 allotted. Okay, so sure Foul ain't a great diplomacist, but she is now freakin' scary and Intimidating. Wanna take a look?

Still have skills and a few minor things to finish...

Me Vaghdra. You food.

I'm still in recovery mode, but while I have a moment of clarity...

I do like the idea of a negative charisma giving a person a bonus on intimidate checks, however when designing this feat I wanted it to be just as attractive for someone with a 9 Charisma too, so I added the +1 in to ensure that a decent bonus was gained. I've never really been happy with that though, and I am still struggling with how to effectively deliver this feat (or even if it can).

So here is the slight tweak I am thinking of. It still means the feat is of greater benefit to those with low Cha, but now it also imposes a penalty as well.

Callous Intimidator (General)
Your ill-manner is very unsettling and intimidating to others.
Prerequisite: Permanent negative Charisma ability modifier.
Benefit: Your negative charisma modifier may be applied as a positive modifier on Intimidation checks (minimum +2 bonus gained). The total bonus gained on Intimidation checks from this feat is subtracted from Diplomacy checks. (i.e. A Charisma 7 character would gain a +4 bonus to Intimidation checks and a -4 penalty to Diplomacy checks).
Special: This ability does not stack with the Intimidating Prowess feat.

i still cant edit aliases, but i sent you my character sheet GM. weapon finesse wont really help me unless i have to use that rusty dagger, but i figure itll help later when im a big scary monster

Three days without word from the GM is a little worrisome in a new game. Was there word about an absence that I missed?

M Humanborn

Oceanshieldwolf aka Foul Vaghdra was supposedly on a vacation for one week, which ends (i think) on the 14th. I believe that is who we were waiting on. Also the GM was having surgery of some sort and the end of that rest period (i think) coincided with Ocean's return.

Dogdog wrote:

Yep.

I am recovering from surgery right now, and not able to spend much time at the computer.

My pain medication was switched and it's helping, but the healing is going slow. Towards this weekend I will be reviewing the character stats. I believe Ocean will be back from vacation by Sunday, so with any luck I can get things started for Monday.

HP 33/33, AC 18, FORT +6, REF +3, WILL +3; CMD 16; INIT +2; PER +7,

Once folks talked about the surgery I remembered. Glad you made it through ok.

I'll have the polish put on Dogdog within the next couple days.

In case you missed it earlier, would you mind opening the gameplay thread for us to dot. It makes tracking the threads a lot easier since it stickies the game to our Gameplay tab.

Neat trick- If you make a post in a thread, and then delete it, the site still tracks it as if you had posted, so you can dot a thread without actually leaving a post behind. Handy for lurking in a game, or for keeping a gameplay thread clear of bunches of dotting posts.

Battle Map

I have opened the Gameplay thread, but I won't be posting in it until the campaign starts.

Once everyone has their character concept and background put together, could you please post in this thread, a basic description of the appearance of your character and what the other goblins might already know about you. You are all 2nd level goblins afterall, so you are each quite noteworthy.

map RETIRED HP 24/24; AC 20, T 15, FF 16; FORT +4, WILL +7, REF +5; CMD 13; INIT +4; PER +9 Blight Druid 3

Tenro here.

Bile Ratsear is one of the dirtiest, smelliest goblins in the Muckeaters, and that's saying something. Bile spends his time in the tunnels, making friends with rats and worse. He wants to make sure everyone knows that Muckeaters are the best and to stay outta their swamps and tunnels, or else.

Deity: Venkelvore

Bile is mostly gross because while most goblins roll around in muck and their own poop, Bile rolls around in strange animal poop. Lives in the caves and tunnels. That kinda thing.

** CURRENT PLAYER TASKS **

1. Please complete and finalize your character sheets. I will be reviewing them soon.

2. As per my post, 2 posts up from here, please post a description / background info.

3. Under your profile please indicate your class and level under the "Class" field.

4. Under your profile please record all the following information under the "Race" field, in this format:

HP 20/25; AC 16, T 12, FF 16; FORT +1, WILL +2, REF +3; CMD 20; INIT +4; PER +10;

As the campaign begins, please keep these stats accurate at all times. If you have taken damage, or have buffs or penalties in effect, please adjust and keep these stats current. This will help me resolve combat rounds a lot quicker.

(I have included a sample of the appearance of this stat view in my profile).

Thanks.

HP 30/30; AC 17, T 14, FF 14; FORT +5, WILL +3, REF +1; CMD 17; INIT +3; PER +6 Feral Gnasher (Barbarian) 2

Jakka has an exceptionally large mouth, even for a goblin. She has blue skin with patches of grey and her hair is worn in a long knot down her back that superficially resembles a braid. She enjoys chewing the toes of the creatures she has defeated, and will usually be wearing some on a string around her neck, making it easy for her to reach without using her hands. She wears bits of leather with bits of metal hammered into it, and she carries a wooden pole nearly three times as long as she is tall, with a dagger bolted to the end of it, which she is extremely proud of.

As for what other goblins know, there are a few things that set her apart from the average goblin. First is her temper. No goblin is particularly serene, but when Jakka gets angry, she becomes almost bestial, and she seems to have no memory of what happens during her rages. The second thing is that she is completely delusional. She is convinced that she is a kind of stealth assassin. Nobody contradicts her, because she is dangerously unstable, and quite a good fighter. Most goblins are willing to tolerate her not remembering how she killed an elf, as long as it's dead.

HP 33/33, AC 18, FORT +6, REF +3, WILL +3; CMD 16; INIT +2; PER +7,

I'm working on my sheet right now, but I can't open your character creation guide from work. I'll do what I can but cross-checking will have to wait until tomorrow.

Instead of the Order of the Paw, would you be alright with the Order of the Dragon (name-changed to Order of the Pack). Their special ability is to grant allies bonuses to attack, which seems more appropriate to the character. I'm willing to keep the Order of the Paw tennants if you want me to.

HP 33/33, AC 18, FORT +6, REF +3, WILL +3; CMD 16; INIT +2; PER +7,

GM, what are your thoughts on Monkey Goblins?

I mention it because it would be awesome if Dogdog had a tail. :)

Male Goblin Witch L3 HP 27/27; AC 14, T 13, FF 12; FORT +5, WILL +3, REF +3; CMD 11; INIT +2; PER +0;

Quivrel is small and hunched, even for a Goblin. His skin always has a slimy-looking sheen to it, a trait attributed to his tendency to crawl in the worst filth and mud. He seems to not have a sense of smell, which might explain why he is always licking everything. He has a fascination with amphibians - toads in particular, and it was when he discovered one very special toad, which he claims speaks to him after he licked it, that he developed some very eerie powers. His eyes have taken on a frightening clear aspect that reflects all light. The other Goblins might have exiled or killed him by now, but one of his powers is to make hilarious accidents happen just by looking at a person. He is also able to use magic, which he claims comes from his magical toad Puddleby. A few have asked him to share his magic powers, but he usually insists they lick Puddleby, for it is Puddleby who grants the spell, not Quivrel.

Quivrel is small and hunched. His skin shines with a slick coating of... something. His eyes are pale silver and tend to reflect light. His skin is lumpy and dark green, like his toad's. His clothing is usually filth-encrusted, but his skin stays oddly free of anything except his slimy coating.

Female HP 28/28; AC 20, T 14, FF 17; FORT +7, REF +3, WILL +8; CMD 14; INIT +6; PER +7; Inquisitor 2 (Sin Eater)/Cleric 1 (Strength/War)

I'm actually just on holiday now, but I will have net access until Oz time Sunday, but back on Tuesday. Which translates to "gone from Saturday to Monday". :p

Foul Vaghdra was apprentice to the Muckeater's previous Sin Eater shaman, and thus not much liked by most of her peers. Which is saying something for a goblin. She's quick in mind and body and distrusts little that she can't also eat. She eats anything and anyone, and doesn't pay any mind to others' opinions. She is however fiercely protective of her tribe and her new cohort - Quivrel, Dogdog, Dogdog's dog "Dog", Bile and Jakka.

Although less enamoured of fire and dismissive of much goblin bigotry and ignorance she still knows goblins are the baddest and meanest folk ever and all over. Although her teacher had groomed her for leadership of some kind, her mien, demeanour and general lack of interest leaves her more an advisor than a captain. She knows she can think, but knows sometimes she must "brain" problems with her trusty flail, Meatmaker.

Hefting Meatmaker, a grisly flail composed of heavy spiked weights on thick chains and dressed in well tended if mucky, slimy and stinky hide armor, Foul keeps most folk with noses away and those with eyes look upon her with either fear, disgust or derision. Festooned with choice body parts on twined thread and generally unkempt, she leers, gurns, frowns, froths and screams in combat, raising her shoulders as big as they will go and making showy moves with body and flail to intimidate foes and scare them to death. Then she eats them.

I have never heard of monkey goblins before. They certain sounds quite amusing. However, the Muckeaters would deem such abominations to be "lesser" goblins and would attack them outright. So, no monkey goblin for you :)

In reviewing the Order of the Dragon, I con't really feel that it would fit well for a goblin. Goblins tend to be quite selfish and less concerned about others. I do believe goblins would value having allies though -- as they do recognize that their is strength in numbers. Also, when it comes time to turn tail and run, the more goblins you can put between you and your adversary the better.

I think there is a significant difference in powers gained by Order of the Dragon vs Order of the Paw. The Paw seems slightly under powered.

I had a packmaster cavalier archetype I had created for an orc adventure I am working on. I think there are aspects about that, that you might be interested in (particularly that you slowly gain a pack). I do like the idea of a goblin cavalier that lurks with a pack of dogs (which is why I selected you) so I am going to tinker with a custom archetype and order today. I'll post the proposed info later tonight.

HP 33/33, AC 18, FORT +6, REF +3, WILL +3; CMD 16; INIT +2; PER +7,

Dogdog is insane. His mom couldn't make a baby-cage strong enough to hold him, so she raised him in the kennels. He still spends most of the time on the ground. He even runs on all fours.

His clothing is a spiked collar and harness, complete with leash. He hates pants and refuses to wear them.

He has dark yellowish skin and a particularly fang-y mouth. His head is smaller than most but his eyes and ears are large.

He can talk, kind of. He mostly growls and barks. Occasionally he says words, but they are usually short. When he wants to use real words he uses a hand puppet made from the skull of the goblin dog b@$$% who nursed him. She tells him what to do and praises him for everything. She fights along side him and bites his enemies. She loves him forever.

His brother, Dog is his closest friend. They practically share a mind.

The thing is, dogdog is pretty unhinged but he isn't dumb. He's actually rather clever. He can build things that hurt and track things to eat. He's canny and sly and very resourceful. He just thinks of himself as a goblin dog.

He will obey anyone who holds his leash, and will try to fetch nearly anything someone throws. His favorite toy is a heavy hardwood ball that he and Dog continuously fight over.

Also, sheet's done.

Thanks. I felt the same. Dragon was the closest thing I could find to what I had in mind for Dogdog. Most goblins are selfish, but Dogdog really isn't. His sense of self is very limited, and he definitely has a pack mentality.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Battle Map

Dogdog, I haven't had a chance yet to tinker with this. I should have time later tonight though.

HP 33/33, AC 18, FORT +6, REF +3, WILL +3; CMD 16; INIT +2; PER +7,

No problem. Don't hold things up on my account. Take your time.

Battle Map

Whew, its been a hectic weekend here, and I am still not yet at 100%. I'm just working on some cavalier options tonight for Dogdog, and then we should be ready to start. I will have a chance to review character sheets tomorrow. So let's plan on finally starting this adventure Tuesday.

Male Human

Sounds good! I should be back from holidays in 24hrs...

Battle Map

Still working away on my Pack Master cavalier archetype. I'm at a mental block right now so I have slowed down on progress, but I am having a lot of fun with it.

I think I have come up with a fun cavalier archetype for a goblin, however, I have pretty much taken away most of what makes a cavalier unique -- so I'm not sure if it is what you would be interested in playing.

Also, on a side note: I noticed that a Order of the Paw cavalier does not ride their animal. If you were going to use that instead of the archetype that I make, I would certainly let you ride the animal. I think that is a pretty big nerf.

Back to work on the archetype now :)
