[dice=poison save?]1d20+8
This was a save only Liam had to make, since he got hit by the thing. Awesome post, though!
Hassam al-Rashid |
I got hit by it last round and failed the save and took a con damage, Liam's post made me think it might be an ongoing poison so it seemed easier to roll the die and sort it out on your end.

Oh, good call, you're absolutely right, it's an ongoing effect for 6 rounds or until you make one save against it. You've now succeeded, so it's done, but thanks for thinking of that.
Mavarion |
"Perhaps these things have style after all," Mavarion mutters as one plant releases what seem to be hallucinogenic spores. "Very well, very well...I SMITE YOU WITH THE POWER OF ABADAR...NO, ME!" With that, he strikes a stance, palms outward Dragonball style, because that's exactly what kineticists do, charge up, and with a massive roar of sound and blast of air, small objects begin to levitate around the dwarf. Even those as small as dust motes hover about, possessed with a deadly form of almost-sentience. One such mote starts to spin at nigh-unheard of speeds at slices forth at the plant menacing Hassam.
Empowered TK Blast, Bonuses vs. Yellow: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
Damage: 4d6 + 15 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 6) + 15 = 35
45 damage total, slashing. Man, I love telekineticists...
DM Khel |
Great post, Mavarion, and that'll finish off yellow for sure - but can I get that Fort save first, to see if you're hallucinating or not?
Mavarion |
Oh, I was thinking about the few posts above mine, I was mixing up the save against Con damage with what you said to Hassam about not making it. I thought you were talking about the spores.
Will, Heroism, +5 more if against Hardy effects: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17
DM Khel |
Sorry if I was unclear, looking back on it I realize I didn't really say that everyone had to make the save.
Mavarion's mighty blast blows the yellow-petaled plant into smithereens!
Hrolf is up.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
Fort: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 = 18
Hrolf manages to resist the hallucinatory spores. He retreats a step to create some space and brings his spear down for a flurry of blows.

Hrolf’s spear makes another hole in the pink-tipped plant, before it lashes out once again with its tendrils, flailing ineffectually at Liam!
Pink slam attack vs Liam: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 If this hits, please make a DC 16 Fort save or take Con damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1

Mavarion |
Mavarion, not in one of his greater moods, takes his chaotic talents to their maximum. He indicates a chunk of one of the downed creatures with a single finger and sends it spinning at the remaining foe with a flick of the wrist.
Empowered TK Blast, Bonuses vs. Pink: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19
Damage: 4d6 + 16 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 5) + 16 = 28
34 damage total on a hit, slashing.
Edit: Just realized Hassam has Flagbearer.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
Hoping to spare the party's 'priest' anymore harm, Hrolf stabs the unnatural creature again.

DM Khel |
Mavarion's hurled chunk of plant matter sails past the remaining foe, and Hrolf's spear only gets through the fibrous shell of the spore-pod once. The thing is looking rather ragged, but it continues to skitter about and shake its tendrils menacingly!

DM Khel |
Hassam's spear jabs the vegetative horror once and it falls to the ground! The room goes quiet, with no shouting statues or skittering plant monsters to disturb Hassam's restful stay on the ancient stone floor.
There's a closed door on the north side of this room, and the open doorway where the plantoids came from.
Hassam al-Rashid |
Hassam stops yelling, straightens himself up and uses his wand a few times.
clw: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (7, 3) + 2 = 12
Hassam al-Rashid |
If the first wand usable doesn't work Hassam will suggest they regroup outside and heal up before venturing futher.
DM Khel |
Hassam indeed notes that his wand resists his attempts to use it. Once outside, he's able to use the wand's magic to heal his wounds without any difficulty.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
After Hassam's experiment Hrolf follows outside briefly to patch himself up.
CLW: 4d8 + 4 ⇒ (1, 8, 8, 3) + 4 = 24
DM Khel |
Anyone who wants to step outside to heal can just post that they've done so as we move along. Which door do you want to check?
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
East.
Liam Mardon |
I'll recast False Life on myself when we're outside.
False Life: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
DM Khel |
With everyone’s strength restored, the Pathfinders move to explore the room the strange plant-beasts came from – and find it is just as strange as the creatures. A riot of colorful fungal blooms striped and spotted in bold red, yellow, blue, and purple cover the uneven floor of this round chamber. Several chunks of dimly glowing orange and purple crystal peek through the carpet of mold and puffballs.
The lumpy floor is littered with the remains of several horses and humans, serving as a source of nutrients for the brilliantly-colored fungal growth. Peering at a nearby horse-head, Mavarion notices that the body is intact except for one thing – its eyes are missing. Carefully looking over the other fungus-covered bodies confirms that all of them are missing their eyes.

nature: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Hassam nods, "Unsurprisingly, the mushrooms are poisonous. That voice earlier was elven..."
DM Khel |
Doesn't look like Hrolf or Liam can make the remaining check, anything else you want to do in this lovely fungal place?
Mavarion |
Mavarion carefully hovers some mushrooms into an empty bag before securing it and proclaiming, "I'm all done here. If everyone else is too, I say we try the western door."
DM Khel |
The party crosses the large central room, and the elven statues remain quiet this time. The north door leads into a wide circular room that is relatively clean and clear of debris. Faintly glowing runes embossed into a crescent-shaped pedestal near the center of the room cast wild shadows against the walls. A heap of dirt and rubble along the west wall covers what were once stairs leading up, while to the north, a wide staircase descends into darkness. A stylized map woven of metallic fabric hangs on the east wall. A moment’s inspection reveals that the map depicts northern Varisia.
The pedestal is four feet high with its top surface sloping down toward the center of the room. Six large runes on raised buttons form a hexagon, with many smaller symbols woven around them.
Had to customize the map a bit to not reveal everything. There’s nothing to see under that grey shape, I assure you. The blue thing is the pedestal.
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
From the doorway Hrolf closes his eyes briefly and sweeps the room for magical auras. Detecting magics.

Hassam views the maps and muses outloud.
"Interesting, the map is old, as old as the Thassilonian empire. It's been updated recently though... see these charcoal marks, they line up with nearby settlements, I can't read them, but I think they are in undercommon, can anybody confirm the markings?"
DM Khel |
Please position yourselves on the map, or say where you want to be so someone else can move you.
Hrolf steps just inside the door to the room and is happy to note that he doesn’t have to struggle to cast his spell, as seemed to be happening in the other room. He scans for the presence of magic and finds that the pedestal and the floor in the center of the room radiate strong conjuration magic.
Hassam studies the map and is able to discern a surprising amount of information. In fact, his sharp eye picks out several hitherto unknown sites that might prove of great interest to the Society. Liam then confirms that the names written in charcoal are in Undercommon, but doesn’t recognize them, as they seem to be abbreviated forms of names he’s never heard before.
Mavarion |
No need for the scroll, I can speak Undercommon.
"Conjuration?" Mavarion pipes up from the back. "I'm no expert, but could that not mean this is a summoning or calling circle?"
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
"Or healing", Hrolf adds. "Though the first two are more likely. We should disable it before we move forward. It might have been what corrupted those plant creatures earlier."
DM Khel |
How would you like to disable or otherwise deal with the pedestal?
Also, please place your tokens in the pedestal room if you're going to do anything with the pedestal.
Mavarion |
Mavarion remains just outside the pedestal room, peering at the relic interestedly. "I can disable it, unless it's magical, which is likely," he comments, looking about for possible traps. "On the other hand, I may be able to move it, if you so agree..."
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Disable Device (if I find any nonmagical traps): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
These checks can be made at close range (40 feet). Alternatively, if I find no traps and the party agrees, I can try to lift it. Shouldn't have any problem there unless it ways more than 3.5 tonnes. Still love them telekineticists...
DM Khel |
Mavarion does not see anything he recognizes as a trap, and gives the pedestal a few gentle nudges and an exploratory heave-ho. He finds that the pedestal is firmly affixed to the floor of the room, so lifting it will be difficult, though perhaps not impossible. His gentle nudges are not as nimble as he might have hoped, and he brushes against something that causes the pedestal room and the large central room he's standing in to light up!
At the same moment, his probings also seem to have some effect on the statues in the central room. Their eyes flash briefly, and the same loud message is heard as before, "Dresbaswyr wedi mynd i mewn i'r tŵr!"
Will saves from everyone but Hrolf, please.
Mavarion |
"Oh, sh..."
Will (+5 if Hardy applies): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
DM Khel |
Hassam, Liam and Mavarion crumple to the floor. The dwarf promptly begins to let out a deep, rumbling snore, which would shake the very tower if it still stood. The angel-blooded bard lets loose with a quieter, rhythmic breathing, punctuated by an almost musical whistling breath from time to time. Liam falls into a more troubled sleep, and can be heard muttering, "What lies behind the mask? Garftrumblesnink!"
Hrolf 'Beastheart' Hakonson |
Hrolf flips his spear around jabs his nearest companion with the butt end. "Hey! Wake up!"
DM Khel |
Hrolf manages to nudge Hassam awake. He feels fine, though is a little confused by the unearthly rumble and the murmured questions from his nearby sleepers. Nothing else seems to be stirring.
Liam Mardon |
