Volta Delbove |

Volta knows the combat still hangs in balance when Aryllan takes a bad hit. He grabs a bolt out of his backpack with one hand and smoothly loads his crossbow.
(Two move-equivalent actions giving AoO's to any threatening attackers.)

Robertus Toreador |

Attack of Opportunity:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Damage:2d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 2) + 4 = 9
That will leave a mark!
Robertus steps back, now directly alongside and south of the dwarf. He changes tactics, swinging full on into the Wounded Halfing while continuing to keep an eye on the actions of the other opponents.
Attack Roll vs. Halfling (Combat Expertise still active):1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage Roll:2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 2) + 4 = 8
I really hope that is a dead halfling.

Fernis Stoutanvil |

Seeing the viscious blow landed by Robertus, Fernis steps back a pace. As he begins to chant an ice blue light fills his eyes and as he again calls on his gods for aid. A faint golden light followed by the sound of a hammer on anvil fills the alley and a blast of healing energy fills the jammed battlefield. "Torag 'as seen fit ta lend his aid. Now regroup an' set yer defenses."
Move Five Foot Step to the rear one square, Channel Energy.

DM Iron-Dice |

Ledford stands up from his prone position.
A ripping gash from Robertus' Guisarme slashes his abdomen.
The halfling advances, raising his greataxe high despite his small stature.
His grip fails as Uraisa's magic takes hold and the axe falls useless to the urine stained street.
Robertus reverses his attack and lodges the blande into the barbarians collarbone, twisting it deeply.
The unyielding opponent staggers, weakens and . . . stands there.
Some how, some way, his infernal rage keeps him on his feet, despite all odds!
urk. *cough* well *ack* it seem you have some skill with that *gurkk* broom handle after all. hee hhhee *cough cought*.
He pops open a small vile, and drinks the liquid. His wounds seem to partially heal themselves.
cure light wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
In a much steadier voice he says Tell 'ya what. How 'bout we call it a draw, between you 'an me, eh?
He takes a carefully placed withdraw backwards (no AoO for first five feet), arms in an open, no-combative pose.
I need to find a better group to hire out too. *pteew* He spits on Deandre.
To be continued . . .

DM Iron-Dice |

You BASTARD!
Deandre is not pleased. I give you a chance to be in the greatest gang that Absolam will ever see, and this is how you show me loyalty!? Me! Deandre Dulay!
The retreating halfling snidely remarks What good's a reward, if I ain't around to use it. Deandre. Dulay. HaaaaHarrrrr!
I always keep my promises, unlike your kind. Heres your parting cut.
The outraged leader strikes out with her short sword.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Ledford; Auggg! Just like your leadership. *cough*. Good. But not not successful. Haaaa.
HALLI! Finish off the turncoat. No one betrays me and lives!
Halli, hired for her blind loyalty, does exactly as ordered by her mistress.
Acidic ray ay Ledford 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
The acid in the ray burns onto Ledfords face, melting away all his features leaving only a grotesque flesh deposit fused to his course mustache hairs.
The rogue Larkin take all this. Until Deandre gets her head together, he goes into a full defensive posture.

Uraisa Ellsworth |

DM, pulling and the drinking a potion should mean he has no move to withdraw left, I think. Also, there should be an AoO when he drinks the potion, I think. I am not sure about these, but I think I might be correct. If not, ignore this post, lol.

Fernis Stoutanvil |

Seeing that the group of brigands have set upon each other, Fernis waste no time channeling his healing energy again. Another series of golden blast radiate outward from his out stretched hands washing over his comrades.
Channel Energy 3/5 1d6 ⇒ 6

Volta Delbove |

Can we have a map? I'm not sure where everyone is. Can try to work it out though.
Volta looks over the confusing array of battle looking for a spot he can shoot safely from at either the crazy girl or her hapless rogue.
If such a spot is found, if where he stands is it, he stays put, if elsewhere he moves but not into any threatened square. He'll take a shot if available.
First priority target :DD the Demented
Second priority target: Hapless Larkin. If the first is not safe or practical.
I think Uraisa is right, unless he has some feats that allow it, but I'm not the sure on my grip of the Pathfinder rules.

DM Iron-Dice |

Ohhh. My bad! Thanks for the rules clarification guys. Keep 'em coming, I'm a fast learner. I was in a hurry to get out the door and think I was focusing on the story and defaulted into last years RL 4E (hours?)Rules on potions and movement. Plus I forgot he used a move to stand from prone. Hmmmm.
Let's do this. Ledford; Stand up from prone=Move; Retrieve potion=Standard; Drink potion=NO, (not done); Speaking=Free plus a Five foot step. Robertus is entitled to an AoO, however, Deandre would have killed him also, and at the same time. The sorcerer still used her turn to fry Ledford, otherwise she would have attacked a PC. The same story played out, and he died adjacent to Denadre. Cool?

Aryllan Lanliss |

Aryllan watches as the gang attacks the Halfing. Knowing they are now in more as the raging cleric kills her own fighter, she knows she has to move fast. Feeling the healing surge of dwarfen god, she attacks the rogue standing closest to her.
Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
She drops the useless sword to the ground and steps forward toward the wizard as she pulls an arrow from her quiver and notches it. hope to be able to do better with a bow.

DM Iron-Dice |

After a bit of "no honor among thieves" drama played out in front of your eyes, the halfling barbarian lays dead in the muck. The events were so fast and surprising, it seem everyones account tells a different story. The ending however, is alway the same.
Volta moves into a position to strike at either opponent engaged in melee with the group.
Attack roll when ready Volta!
Uraisa's arcane powers are brought against those of Halli. In a battle of sorcery, they are both masters of their craft as Uraisa's frost stings Halli Fosta, causing her to cry out in pain.
That will cost you, pretty one!
Aryllan strikes out at the rogue Larkin's advancement, and her blade, well, you know . . .
Wounds are southed once again by the renewing energy of Fernis.

Volta Delbove |

If I understand the rules correctly DD has partial cover relative to me from Larkin. So, Larkin it is.
Crossbow attack versus Larkin.
Seeing an opening due to Ledford's dreadful demise, Volta charges past Uraisa and swings to bring his crossbow to bear on the demented Deandre Dulay, but finds his attack impeded by Larkin.
What? Oh good enough, kill the b#$@% after him.
Crossbow attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage----------1d8 ⇒ 4
If critical confirm roll 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
critical confirm damage 1d8 ⇒ 4
I roll damage and crits etc. at once to save time, ignore anything unneeded.

Robertus Toreador |

Robertus steps back, five feet to the west, and grimaces at the act of treachery. He scans the battlefield, noticing the rest of his compatriots have taken up ranged weapons. He scans his opponents, and chooses a target. "I can handle Larkin. Focus your shots on Halli!" He finally turns his attention to Larkin, swinging with the intent of slowing down the last of Deandre's melee combatants.
Trip Attempt on Larkin, Combat Expertise still active:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

DM Iron-Dice |

Deandre the Demented, living up to Volta's term of endearment, speaks divine words and draws a gesture in the air. Now appearing is an exact copy of her standing just slightly offset from her real self. Or is her real self the copy? The effect creates a confusing double vision effect, only sober!
She moves around Larkin to stand toe to toe with Robertus.
Get up Larkin. NOW! And take care of the inept elf.
Larkin stands, takes a five foot step towards Aryllan.
As you say, my lo*, leader.
His rapier strikes out a Aryllan.
Rapier 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Halli, sticking with a good thing, fires out her next to the last charge of Acidic ray at Arrylan, trying to clear a path to the others.
Acidic Ray 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Outch, a hit! 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Aryllans drops, her garb smoking from the acid damage.
Pathfinders, ATTACK!
*MAP* Round 5.

DM Iron-Dice |

As Arllan slowly dissolves into a puddle of acidic goo, Uraisa makes what may be the game changing move, bringing out the BIG GUN of spells.
Color spray erupts it's blinding furry engulfing both Deandre and Larkin in it prismatic embrace. Will they succumb to it? Let's fin out.
One more down. Two still up. Great move Uraisa.
*MAP* with color spray.

Robertus Toreador |

Attack of Opp (Trip) vs. Deandre:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Robertus attempts to bring his Guisarme down on the fallen leader, despite her altered appearance.
Attack Roll vs. Deandre:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Damage Roll:2d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 = 7
Robertus throws himself at Deandre, dropping his Guisarme. He attempts to pin her to the ground and end the fight.
If she is armed, she gets an Attack of Opp.
Grapple Check vs. Deandre's CMD:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
If that worked, she can either make a full attack, attempt to break free (Escape Artist or Grapple check (The grapple is at a -4 unless she drops her weapon)), or cast a spell (Concentration check of 14 + spell level)
I think that sums it up.

Volta Delbove |

Moving faster than expected. I'll try to keep up.
Volta after overcoming the shock of really hurting another human starts up another round of crossbow reload.
Take bolt from backpack and load crossbow. (two move equivent actions)
He'll shoot next round.

DM Iron-Dice |

Rules questions and clarification time.
-What triggered the AoO?
-Deandre was NOT affected by the color spray, only Larkin
-Deandre has a mirror image up, so there will be a 50/50 to hit the correct one.(DM roll that)
-Does Deandre need to make a concentration check to keep the spell active, since she had to save against Uraissa's spell?
-Did I miss anything else.
Otherwise, Robertus' attack is great enough to succeed.
VOLTA; You can load as a move, and fire as a standard. Sooooooo bring on the attack roll!
Also, please let me know if I'm posting too fast for anyone. I won't be able to keep the pace up continually, but I wanted to make up for those long periods of non-posting in December.

Volta Delbove |

I thought it was one move-equivalent action to remove an item from backpack, Volta doesn't have a quiver. Then another to load the bolt from backpack now in hand into the crossbow. Then a standard action. But I'm happy to roll.
Larkin provides partial cover to the mage in back I think, so I go for Deandre. Pick one DD at random to shoot at.
Crossbow attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage----------1d8 ⇒ 6
If critical confirm roll 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
critical confirm damage 1d8 ⇒ 3
Volta recovering composure at bit, says, "How should I compose the break up note? How about 'Dear Deandre Dulay the Demented, I fear that our romance can't continue due to your murderous insanity?' A good opening but writing the end is difficult. I think I'll start with this bolt."
He fires. Not that it matters.

Robertus Toreador |

The Attack of Opp was caused by Deandre moving through my threatened square from her starting position from here to here.
Correct, you would roll the miss chance to hit for the trip. After the initial attack, should the miss chance cause the trip to miss, it gets rid the mirror image.
No concentration check is necessary and you didn't miss anything else.

DM Iron-Dice |

Robertus; Hmmm. (Pleasant inquisitive voice) I thought only moving out of a threatened area caused a AoO. I was under the impression a creature could dance around inside a threatened area all they wanted, without an AoO as long as not breaking the boundary. I'm happy to run it as you describe, and will do so. If you get a chance, link me the rules going over this. Reach weapons are something I've never dealt with before. I'm enjoying the tripping BTW.
Volta; There's an exception for crossbow bolts and arrows. We cant have everyone taking two rounds to fire (Unless it's a heavy crossbow).
I'll recap everything in another post later.

DM Iron-Dice |

Deandre Dulay goes down hard from Robertus' fast acting reflexes and his expert skill with reach weapons. Bringing the tip of his Guisarme under her breastbone he delivers a bloody wound! Awwwww. Frick, you twice damed best of a man. No one cuts Deandre Dulay and lives!
A crossbow bold plinks into the crumbling stone of the street a hands width away from her head. Volta can be heard reloading the weapon for another try.

Fernis Stoutanvil |

Seeing the ranger hit the ground, slumping from her wounds, Stoutanvil pulls one of his more often used gifts into being. Uttering words of divine praise and request, a pale purple light surrounds the fallen Aryllan. "That should hold ya till I can get to ya, lass. Now for you," the dwarf says with a cold brutality in his voice and casting ice blue eyes devoid of compassion upon the attacker at his feet, "time has run out."
Cast Stabilize on Aryllan
Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 DMG 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

DM Iron-Dice |

Aryllan, in your delirium you dream within a dream
"Purple haze all around
Don't know if my HP's comin' up or down
Am I stable or in misery?
Whatever it is, that cleric put a spell on me"
She also dreams his AoO misses, and it does.
Deandre looks Robertus in the eye. So, you fancy yourself skilled with you big pole, do you. Heh. Let's see how you do now.
She inflicts you with a Touch of Evil, then takes a five foot step backwards.
You feel sickened. –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.
EDIT: Larkin is still unconscious, so he stays put.
EDIT: Halli moves from the mist edge to a position just south of Aryllan.
Using her last Acidic Ray, she also targets Robertis, hoping to bring the brute to his knees.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Miss
These guys hit about as well as elf rangers do, sheesh.
I'll update the map to show the correct position of Larkin and Halli when I get a chance.

Volta Delbove |

Volta remembering that Robertus asked him to take out the mage and with The Demented One doubled he switches targets.
Load crossbow and fires on Halli the mage.
Crossbow attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage----------1d8 ⇒ 3
If critical confirm roll 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
critical confirm damage 1d8 ⇒ 6
My wouldn't it be nice if I could ever confirm a critical?

DM Iron-Dice |

Uraisa Ellsworth |

Seeing the opposing mage weakened, Uriasa moves, so she can get a clear shot, takes aim, and fires another tinkle of ice toward her. Another ray of Frost.
Ranged Touch 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Daamge 1d3 ⇒ 3

DM Iron-Dice |

The evil sorcerous stiffens and pales to a deep blue, slumping to the ground below. Dead.
Deandre Dulay the Demented now stands against the Pathfinders alone. Her companions dead or unconscious. Most sane opponents would show fear and desperation. The demented one only shows signs of being pissed off and more determined that ever.
How dare YOU! Killing one of Deandre Dulay's enforcers. You shall all pay dearly for this oversight.

Fernis Stoutanvil |

Fernis Stoutanvil |

Moving forward, the dwarf again comes on hard seeking to free the mocking female from this world. Raising his bastard sword he screams a war cry to Torag and brings the thick blade down with all his strength.
5' Step forwar one square. Attack
Attack+Destructive Smite 2/5 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

DM Iron-Dice |

The fearsome Dwarfs blade lashes out, yet the demented one evades further damage.
Aryllan's vision continue
Purple haze all in my eyes
Don't know if it's day or night
I need some healing, healing my mind
Will this fight end soon, or the end of time?

Volta Delbove |

Since Fernis has stepped forward Volta, after loading his crossbow, also steps forward adjacent to the "sleeping" Larkin. This leaves Volta without any more actions this round.
Loaded again, now to get that - Oh the dwarf is going after he her, don't want to hit him, we need him for Aryllan. I'll move.

Fernis Stoutanvil |

Fernis Stoutanvil |

Determined to keep his opponent from escaping his next blow, Fernis again lashes out with his sword. "Ragathiel, here my call!"
Attack Deandre, 5' step if necessary
Attack+Destructive Smite 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 DMG 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

DM Iron-Dice |

The demented one takes a strategic step back to evade the long reach of the fighter. Clasping her hands together Now, at the end, do you experience the full power of Deandre Dulay.
A wave of blackness and pain washes over everyone! Old wounds open up, and new ones form.
Five foot step + Channel negative energy
1d6 ⇒ 2 WILL save DC 13 for 1/2 damage.
Q; Does this effect Aryllan and Larkin as well?

Uraisa Ellsworth |

Will save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Uraisa feels her life essence being sapped, but she shook off the effects rather quickly. "If she won't listen to reason, we need to finish her off," Uraisa tells the group, knowing that with her being engaged in melee combat, the mage's Frost ray has little chance of hitting. Despite that she fires anyway, and it appeared her ray, just clipped the evil cleric.
Ranged Touch into Melee 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 4 = 17
Damage 1d3 ⇒ 1
HP 7/8

DM Iron-Dice |

Deandre stairs in disbelief.
The hot steel of holly vengeance burns one shoulder.
The frigid sting of arcane discipline stings the other.
My life. How can it end now?
fools. *kack* I. am. *gurgle* lege*kke*nd.
With that, the illustrious carrier of Dundre Dulay begins and ends in a piss soaked alley on a street with no name.
The missions of the special forces group and the cleric converged and triumphed on this spot as well.
To be continued . . .
