I hope you don't mind Iron-Dice, but I subtracted 10 gold for ink, pens, notepads and some simple envelopes. Pretty simple items (that I was a moron and forgot), but we need to submit field reports as Pathfinders some how, right?

That's awesome. Little details like that are nice keep track of.
Hey guys, looks like were going into our first combat. Yea!
Generally, I just like to keep it fast and fun.
Init with six PC's seem fast and clean with the GM just posting an average, then going with that. Let me know if anyone thinks it's more fun to do it a different way.
Please post your turn whenever your on the board during the PCs part of the round . Don't worry about going in order of the PCs init. If you want to coordinate actions that need to go after someone else, just state that and I'll rearrange things in the followup post.
Let me know if there are any ideas or suggestions I'm missing.
Hope everyone's New Year is off to a great start. Lots of work here so I am very grateful.
I should have made a resolution to post more often :)
I have had a couple of group sessions with my Path Finder Buddies locally. Really enjoy the game. Trying my hand at GMing. Not sure how I am doing but everyone seems to be having fun.
I really enjoy this group. Have fun with these characters. I still say we need a Dwarf.
Lots of work this weekend. Will try to post at least once a day though.
Male Human Rogue 1| AC 16 T 14 FF 12 | HP +3/8| F +0 R +6 W +1; | Init +4 | Perc +7/8 Traps | DD +11/13
New year okay so far. The smaller group is coming together. In game, how are we going to treat characters of the missing players? Should have asked earlier, are the characters still with us just very quiet? I know the players withdrew or stopped posting. We could use a healer for the group.
Great questions.
As for in game, I was waiting until everyone got back to the Lodge and have someone explain what happened. Not that critical, but it has been on the back of my mind.
More practically, I do want to add back in a fifth player. I was thinking of cutting to the chase and recruiting a Dwarf cleric, as opposed to a more general call for a healer of some type.
Seeing as this is going to be a mixed bag of adventures, the extra racial traits, religious angle and of course healing would fit in well.
I created a new recruitment thread for a fifth player. If you have any comments on the candidates, please let me know. You can also email me privately if you don't want to post publicly about this subject.
Haha, well fear not. Fernis is more 'an ready to be savin' your hides.
@DM Iron Dice If ya could hit me up with the spoiler deal, it would be great deal easier for me. If ya can't, I will make an arrangement for the email deal. I don't check my email very often and currently am using a slow connection causing me a great deal of grief when checking my gmail.
TRUE SPOILER. ONLY READ IF YOU DONT MIND KNOWING IN ADVANCE.
Fernis Only Please:
You have been a Pathfinder for under a week. You first assignment was given by Venture Captain Ambris Vaslin himself. Investigate rumors of a start-up gang in the area. Normally this is of no interest to Pathfinders, but this group has been boasting about making a name for itself by stealing items from Pathfinders themselves.
Since leaving the Grand Lodge this morning, four unscrupulous, fledgling adventurers followed a new group of Pathfinders throughout the day, shadowing them on their tasks. You know the thugs are simply looking for an easy payout, knowing Pathfinders often have excellent gear, good coin, and frequently carry important items and documents from place to place in town. Weaving through back allies and busy streets, the gang members place themselves in front of the Pathfinders. Perhaps hoping to herd them into an advantageous position.
Deandre Dulay is the leader of this group and has used a contact in the rebellious art group known as the Jocund Pranksters to stage an event in the adventurers' most likely path. While the Jocund Pranksters create their chalk and illusion spectacle and jam traffic flow to side alleys, Deandre's gang has now lured the Pathfinders into the obstruction, and looks to be planning to jump them when they get out of sight from the crowd.
You begin outside the alley, after the Pathfinder group has followed the red haired leader into it. You approach down the alley from behind the Pathfinders.
Have fun making your own introduction any way you see fit!
Hello! Hey guys I forgot to ask what spells might be of use this first round so I just defaulted to some generic ones that I use for the unknown. From here on in I tend to look for what we need and what you want.
Potion drinking does provoke. The PRD has the Table for what does and does not if you do not have your book handy for anyone curious about what you might provoke one for.
"but the getting up from the prone was the move action. "
Arrg. I forgot about the prone. I have started putting text markers on the map so I can track conditions. The last PbP I GM's (and first), did not have the use of frequent conditions as this game is evolving into. The visual markers will keep my memory fresh.
I've been focusing more on the creatures motivations, interaction and goals and forgetting the mechanical basics.

Really great job with that combat, don't worry about a couple of small mechanical problems, you told a story while running a combat, that's a mark of a really good DM. Thanks for a great encounter.
Thanks for the kind words about storytelling. I'm having loads of fun seeing how you all develop personalities and fighting styles etc. Kudos to the group from the GM!
I kinda look at rules as the "gravity" of RPG's. Like gravity, rules should be constant and predictable, so when something breaks the rules, the PC's look for in-game reasons, not a GM that keeps changing things all the time at random (I hate that as a player).
Keep the rules advice flowing in, so we're all on the same page.
Let's do try to keep longer discussions on this thread please, so I don't have as much to sift through when posting story advancements.
