Sigrun whistles, then calls out, "Git 'em boy!" as she hefts her waraxe at the green-skinned thing. She didn't care what it was - it hit her in the shoulder with a javelin, for God's sake! It was going down!

Kargen smiles and takes a guess. "Nishoril! Today those innocents you killed will be avenged! I'll spit on your grave and Andor will rejoice!" He smirks and moves to get a clear shot. He nocks an arrow and let's it fly to the beast.

Bom grins at the efficiency with which the creature was dispatched. "Now that's how you do it! Oswin, is there anything you can do about Sigrun's wound?."

Bom keeps his ground and turns his attention to the lair. Take 20 on Perception = 27 from where Bom is standing.

Kargen moves over to the body. He opens the dead creature's eyes and peers into them, then opening the creatures mouth. He grimaces at the breath, but begins a short, whispered prayer. "You have been judged and your sins will be taken by the Hunter. Your sins are my sins now, may they strengthen me as they burdened you." He reaches into his pack and finds a small hard wafer. He puts the whole thing into his mouth and chews it. It's a bitter taste, but so were the sins of this creature.

Use Eat Sin on him. Kargen may not have fired the kill shot, but he also doesn't need the healing, so it's more ritual than anything.

Sigrun whistles appreciatively as Oswin heals up her shoulder wound with a single tap from his wand. "Thanks," she says simply, flexing and rotating her shoulder to test the damage sustained. It was still a little sensitive, but it was certainly bearable. She shoots Oswin a quick grin as they prepare to move on.

In the next room, Shel sees scattered bones and equipment lie strewn about this chamber’s floor. A wayfinder hangs from a corroded chain around the neck of one skeleton. Beyond these grim remnants, a brightly-colored mosaic covers the chamber’s back wall, largely free of the barnacles and deposits covering the other surfaces in the area. The mosaic depicts a group of wizardly figures gathered around a larger figure clad in robes of black and white.

Examining the mosaic, you find a depression at the central figure's neck corresponding with the figure's brooch;

The central figure in the mosaic is the Nethys, the God of Magic.

Knowledge: Arcana DC 25:
The lesser figures surrounding the central one on the mosaic are noted Wizards of ancient days.

Detect Magic:
The whole room has a faint Transmutation aura, centered on a brooch worn by the center figure on the mosaic.

The flicker of an everburning torch is among the scattered possessions of the dead here, including a jewel-hilted longsword which turns out to be cold-iron when examined, an ivory map case, and a golden amulet clutched in the bony hand of one of the dead.

To this, the dodo merely shakes his head sadly. After a moment, Kobad examines the entire room under the effects of Detect Magic. "There is a faint aura of transmutation in here, it is centered on the brooch of the figure here in the center."

Sigrun looks up at the mosaic, impressed by its craftsmanship if nothing else. The whole scene means very little to her, though, and the depiction of Nethys makes as much sense as anything. The whole place seemed quite magical, after all. "There's a little hole here. What if we put the brooch in there? It looks like it matches in size, or there abouts."


Examining the brooch, Kargen realizes that there are two pieces of it missing.

"Here you are but this piece seems broken. A couple of pieces are missing." He looks around to see if they may have fallen out on the ground.

It looks to have been three interlocking pieces, designed that way.

Kobad places the brooch in the depression on the mosaic, but with the missing pieces, it doesn't fit snugly.

"It would appear there are missing pieces..." Kobad says, blushing with embarrassment at his mistake. Waldo attempts to hide his face in his wings, and then remembers that they are too short. You could swear his beak got a red shade to it for a moment...

Sigrun seems a little deflated that her sudden stroke of brilliance was, in fact, not. She has one last look around the room to make sure the other broken bits aren't underneath a bit of rubble somewhere or something.

"Let's go find those pieces then," Shel says matter-of-factly as she heads for the next room. "We have time, so I am going to look closely."

"Um, And a ghoul, right?" Kargen glances to the others. "Let's not forget why we're here." He follows Shel at a distance.


The section directly ahead seems to be full of debris, requiring far more work to remove than you have time or manpower for. Circling back to the first room, Shel investigates the middle doorway.

Stone shelves once crowded this chamber, but most have broken loose and lie in crumbled fragments on the floor. Desks, easels, and ruined books litter the floor, and patches of algae grow on the walls and floor.

Moving cautiously and checking meticulously, Shel can hear something moving in the South-west end of the room.

Oswin takes all this in stoically. He has been one edge ever since the haunt at the Blackros Museum, and the recent fight, though brief, has not helped to calm his nerves. He seems to relax a bit when he's able to heal Sigrun, and returns her grin with one of his own.

Noticing Shel's cautious movements, Oswin tries to hang back and make as little noise as his bulky armor will allow.

"Right you are Kargen, I haven't forgotten the foul deeds done at the museum. I only hope we can bring justice to the killer, whatever manner of creature it is."

"Shel, shout out if there's trouble ahead. Remember, friends, my protection spell requires me to be able to touch you. If we see that ghoul, please allow me to help you before you engage it."

Seeing Shel pause as if she hears something, Bom draws one of his javelins and strains his own ear.

Shel waves to the others, letting them know something was amiss. She moves forward carefully, trying to protect herself as well as possible.

Move forward 20', DM and take my standard action to go full defense, adding to my AC.

As Shel moves up, assuming Shel is not using Stealth and awaiting the outcome of the DC 20 Perception Bom puts away his javelin and moves up to the entrance where he pops his wand of Lead Blades and casts it on himself.

Sigrun brings up the back, on alert after Shel's gesture. She holds her greataxe up in a defensive pose, ready to deflect any incoming projectiles with the flat of its head.

Moving in with total defense as well.


Advancing into the room, the puddles of seawater growing deeper towards the southern end of the room, Shel sees three large, shelled creatures in the deepest water, their spiny backs visible to her sharp eyes, despite the dim light in the room.
