Dalamus hunts for a rock on the ground, but the immaculately carved walls give nothing. He settles for an iron rod he sometimes uses in trap work and chucks it into the darkness, listening to it clatter some 20 feet away.
Note, on the map, Dalamus is around the corner near the edge of the hallway's termination in the darkness
You hear something slide into the water and swim near soundlessly away from you
Upstairs, Cherrit, the halfling calls out to you, "I'll give this one to you for free, just to prove to you that I'm valuable. Your scout hasn't returned? He's probably run afoul of our jailer and interrogater. A creature even the other fish men avoid. A torturer that neither sleeps nor eats ... awful thing. Your friend is unlikely to return without your help ..." the halfling shudders as he recalls something in his recent memory.

"There is corridor down there that leads to some water. Something came out of the water, but i was able to distract it so that it went back into the water. I didn't want to strike up a torch, because I didn't know exactly what the creature was. Also, Now'zai, there are some markings down there that you may be able to read. I was not able to. Lets head down with light and weapons drawn. I will once again lead the way"

Nowzai thinks for a moment, then answers. "I cannot imagine this place receives so many intruders that they would stoop to such trickery. And their language is obscure... only they and a few others would comprehend its meaning. I believe the warning is legitimate."

I've got quite a few torches as well, and I believe Sam has a magical light.
Anything else we need to worry about before we go this route? I will need to change out of the plate and I recommend anyone else wearing heavy armor does the same. Does anyway have a way for us to breathe under water if the time comes? I remember Dalamus and Epik having issues the last time we suddenly were forced to fight in this type of terrain.

Unless there are objections, Dalamus will go over to the water with his sword drawn and take a look around. Color of the water? wet footsteps? Anything that I couldn't see before I had light.

Torture Chamber
The passageway leading to this room slopes down slightly, and the omnipresent puddles eventually grow to the point where you’re knee deep in murky water. The room, once lit by a floating brazier in the northwest corner, has all manner of torture implements: shelves with scalpels, thumbscrews, a large jar of salt, and a well-oiled stretching rack. Manacles hang from the ceiling and the eastern wall.
The Perfect Interrogator Surprise Round
A linen-wrapped kuo-toa lurches out of the water, dessicated skin exposed under the soggy and dirty white wraps. It takes a swing at Dalamus as he approaches missing widely.
Everyone needs to make a DC16 Will Save using your Cha bonus instead of your Wis bonus or be paralyzed for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds. This is a fear effect.
