The party hoists themselves up the rope easily and quickly explores the upstairs area beyond the door.

The door opens into a single small room. It has shields stacked on the floor and dozens of spears in racks on the wall. Several are missing and look as if they've been recently removed.

The room holds 34 heavy wooden shields, 102 shortspears, 9 pincer staffs, and 170 hand crossbow bolts. Five of the shields have had adhesive applied to them.

The stairs to the west connect back through the soldier's barracks and the party finds themselves back in front of the double doors to the temple.

A a loud whisper from the east cuts through, "Hey! You guys back for more! I can help!"

"It's those same two prisoners we saw last time, Epik did you sense evil on them last time or was the devil being summoned too overpowering to get a good feel?

Speaking of the devil, am I feeling the same pressure I was before when we were here?

From the east, in the prison, the loud whisper replies to Dalamus, "The kuo-toa plant is still here and he's sleeping ... perfect time to get me out."

Epik hears some soft croaking from the other side of the door, rhythmic like before, just not as loud ... it seems muffled for some reason.

"We can still feel the devil presence, I can't feel if it's just that this place is evil and she is tied to it or if she is currently on this plane. Be prepared."

Dalamus will look at the rest of the group and whisper "I think we should take the prisoners out, bring them back up and question them. If we are able to get any real information from them, it could be very useful"

I think it might be a fine idea to get more information from the prisoners, but I agree that we'd want to take them back up and not bring them with.

Epik nods at Dalamus,"There's chanting in the temple. Let's try to avoid another direct confrontation with the priests if possible. Perhaps the dwarf that we're looking for is among the prisoners."

"Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. I will go over and take them out one at a time and bring them over"

Dalamus will go over to the prisoner that is awake, and he will bring someone with him to aid in case the prisoner tries something unexpected.

Dalamus goes over and unlocks the cell of the waking prisoner, a ragged looking halfling with a thin goatee, "Thanks! After yesterday, I was certain you guys weren't coming back! That crazy winged gal sure chased you out pretty fast!"

A wiry, gaunt man is passed out in a rotting cot in the northern cell.

Alright, holidays are over ... let's get to it!

"Yeah she was a bit of a surprise to us, but nothing we can't handle now that we know whom our enemy is. Now how is it you say that you can help us?"


"Umm, what? I thought you were helping me? If I had some gear, I guess I could help you move through the Temple here quietly," he shrugs.

When Dalamus moves to open the other door, he wrinkles his face up in a disgusted look. "I wouldn't do that if I were you ... he's a bad one. Kuo-toa lover."

Dalamus, make an intimidate check as well. The halfling is hiding something

Epik:
The halfling radiates moderate evil

Epik's cool, matter-of-fact demeanor unnerves the halfing, who after weeks in prison, doesn't put up much resistance, "Hey look, I overheard you guys looking for Zenith. He's an old acquaintance of mine, and I came here looking for him as well. Hasn't been heard from in a long time, and I tracked him here."

From the northern cell, the man wakes up and watches the interaction, "He's lying you know? Kuo-toan mercenary hired to set you guys up. I can give you detailed descriptions of the dungeon if you set me free, and put his ass back in the cell."

Can we sense motive on them from their random statements, or do we need a direct line of questioning?


You can sense motive to get an overall feel if they're hiding something or not ... It's not detect lie or "this part is a lie, but this part is the truth." It's just a "hunch"

Sam nods at Magma's comment "Yes, this is a terrible idea."

"I would like to also say that there is no way the the Kuo'Tuo would keep anyone locked up in these cells as any sort of bait or trap just on the off chance that someone comes walking in. Most likely these are, at best, adventures looking for treasure, who were captured and locked up, and at worse, they are both liars and will betray us and try to kill us at their first chance. Either way, we have no need of them."

Sam will watch the prisoners but will continue to look around the other rooms to make sure we are not walking into a trap

Spitting and cursing at you the entire way, you shove the weakened, unarmed halfing back into his cell. Both his and the other man's cries follow you down the hall, no longer a whisper.

Dalamus creeps down the stairs which lead to a short hallway that turns to the north. Looking as far as he can using the light from the top of the stairs, he notices the floor begins to get wet at the edge of his vision, and he sees some interesting carvings ... writing maybe ... on the walls of the hallway just around the corner.

Dalamus will try to read the carvings, if at all possible. He will walk over to the edge where the water is, without stepping in it. Can he tell the source of the water? What is beyond, can I see any further?

He suspects the water is what leaked through from the previous days assault, but is not taking any chances.


Without light that's as far as you can see

Dalamus notes the scribbles but can't decipher them, jotting them down in the hopes that someone else can. He then creeps forward to peer at the water. It's greenish in cast and has some sort of scum on top of it. It's been standing here a long time ...

Anyone else notice that the second spoiler Tike lists is always open on the app? Both the nemoris spoiler and this DM only one were auto open when I use the app
