Ser Armithia politely borrows the wand of cure light wounds from Azarra.

Ser Armithia scans the opened corridor with Detect Evil active.

Standing in front of the group, the gold elf points into the darkness and me without Magic Missile!.
There is evil in there! Show yourself!

Kardas Rasalas |

"Seems whoever we were chasing has fled even further into the temple. Should we chase them? Remember, this place is most likely booby-trapped ..."
Perception for Kardas: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Perception for Mr. Familiar: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Kardas will follow if others pursue.

Azarra |

How did we move from going through door K to going through door M? Zane and Ishta mentioned door K on the last page, and I set up to the side of it, even saying specifically I didn't want to be in a straight line from the door so no one could blast us, and then Zane moved us all on the map to door M... but not sure why. Did I miss something? Did we decide to chase the other girl instead? Where are we according to the DM?
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
If she is in fact where they are on the map, she says Over your left shoulder to Ishta, so she won't move into her sightline, and then shoots over her shoulder down the hallway in case there is an invisible bad guy.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

DM Fang Dragon |

OK sorry for the confusion about the doors. Totally my fault, anyway this encounter is likely easier for you in a confined space since it's way harder for them to flank you. Azarra with your roll you spot the crossbow wielder, it's just as well you did since he doesn't get to roll sneak damage. @All not everyone rolled healing, feel free to retcon up to 2 rounds worth of healing actions unless you explicitly want to take more time which would change the enemies tactics.
Initiative rolls:Azarra: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Ishta Khosiv: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Kardas Rasalas: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Ser Armithia-Seendren: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Zane Levallis: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Crossbow wielder: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Rapier wielding assassins: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Before anyone else can act, two things happen almost at once. Azarra spots a heavily armored crossbow wielder and brings her bow up to fire as she warns Ishta. The crossbow wielder was faster, with their finger on the trigger. Their weapon, a light hand crossbow snaps and suddenly Azarra feels a stinging wetness on her left arm where the bolt grazed her. Of course nothing like that was going stop her, for despite the armor worn by her opponent her arrow flies true!
Crossbow vs Azarra: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19Damage (no sneak attack, for shame!): 1d8 ⇒ 1Crossbow wielder (AC 20)

Kardas is up now. His action actually happens before Azarra's, but he's not posted a combat action yet and I'm guessing his action wont change the way I resolved Azarra's action.

Zane Levallis |

I'll go ahead and roll a flick of the CLW wand, as well.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

DM Fang Dragon |

OK I think See Armithia is on almost full hp and Zane is down 2hp.

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

Not worth a charge for 1hp; although I forsee a good chance here soon...lol.

Azarra |

Took my HP down one point (yay no sneak attack!), but didn't see the possible crit (I think the site was acting up at the time, sorry about that). Rolling it now.
Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Guessing that doesn't confirm, so no changes. :)

Kardas Rasalas |

I assume I do see the crossbow wielding-assassin, correct? If not, Kardas will move up three squares (I'll draw a line on the map to said square) instead.
"Azarra!" yells Kardas as he sees the crossbow bolt graze the woman's arm. That could've been worse, way worse, but before any such thoughts could be entertained the man was already in motion, running forward, sword raised and poised to strike.
Move action: move to crossbow dame
Std action: regular attack using the longsword two-handed
Attack vs Crossbow Dame: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Meanwhile, the Raumathar's familiar stays behind and, as far as foxes can roar, roars. The creature's form shifts and those around the fox can smell a hint of spice as it magically grows in size.
Std action for familiar: assume battleform (stat block for his medium self is on Kardas' stat page)
Since there's no token for the fox, he can stay behind in the room for now.

DM Fang Dragon |

Kardas roars into action, past the flat footed and hidden assassins and he engages the heavily armored crossbow woman. She only just manages to block his thrust with the stock of her bow!
Suddenly a pair of shadows detach from the gloomy cobweb filled alcove and attack! Both of them are flinty eyed eleven women armed with wickedly sharp rapiers. One creeps up behind Kardas and mercilessly stabs into the small of his back near a kidney!

Hearing Kardas grunt in pain and seeing the way blocked by the suddenly appearing rapier wielded, Zane called upon Lathander once again for his blessing. ”Morninglord, please grant me a portion of your divine wrath, for rebirth can not be attained without clearing the vessel of the filth that resides!” A spectral version of Zane’s weapon appears beside the assassin who just stabbed Ishta, swinging at the individual as the priest steps around Ser Armithia to try to present a deterrent to any who might target the ladies.

Yep, precisely to the place I asked. Thank you, mysterious stranger!

DM Fang Dragon |

Wounded, Ishta backs up and aims a ray of utter cold at the assassin, missing by a hair's breadth.

DM Fang Dragon |

Ohh it's touch attack. Yes that does indeed hit then, she has touch AC 15.
Ser Armithia tries to skewer the assassin but she's far too nimble and dodges out of the way before sneering at him contemptuously as if to say, is that the best you can do?
With Kardas in her face, the armored woman had no alternative but to drop her crossbow and draw her saber! Unfortunately she proves to be an excellent sword woman, with her blade glinting in the gloom as she cuts across Kardas's chest opening up a long and intensely painful slash.

Kardas Rasalas |

Kardas groans as pain overwhelms his senses. He opens his mouth to utter a terrible Nar word of power, but nearly chokes on a mouthful of blood. Regardless of the failing of his spell, Kardas presses on like a man possessed. It is, after all, the Raumathar way to die gruesomely.

Azarra shoots the assassin hell-bent on killing Ishta, at this range it was rather hard to miss! The woman gritted her teeth as her face distorted in a mask of pain.
Kardas tried to cast a spell but it died on his lips, but he whipped around to attack the assassin behind him, scoring a telling blow across her midriff! Kardas it's moot because it didn't hit anyway, but if you fail the concentration check I don't think you get the extra attack from spellstrike.
The assassin tried to counter attack, but Kardas parried her feeble blow easily.

Zane Levallis |

Zane took a step back to cover Ishta's retreat, interposing himself between the sneaky assailant and the sorceress. Directing his divine weapon to continue attacking the enemy, he attempts to also do so with his more mundane heavy mace. He knew the best help they could give Kardas would be disposing of this enemy quickly, but in his haste he can't manage to land a blow.

Zane puts himself bodily between the assassin and Ishta, he triers to smash her with his mace but she moves with incredible speed to dodge. At the same moment the spiritual weapon strikes but amazingly she dodges it too and Ser Armithia's thrust.
Meanwhile the armored woman to the south slashes powerfully at Kardas, but despite the blood loss he whips round to parry her, checking her strike!

The Raumathar feels every muscle of his scream bloody murder as he throws himself to one side, knowing that the woman's blade got deflected only at the very last second by the arcane shield. Too close! Auril's breath, too close!
Inadvertently he then taps into the well of arcane power within and unleashes it with a terrible howl. Sparks of electricity crackle into being from his fingertips and dance over the enchanted steel of his blade.

Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

DM Fang Dragon |

In terrible pain, Kardas howls a Nar word of power and plunges his sword as it crackles with lightnings high into the assassin's chest. She convulses before falling back with smoke trailing from her eyes. He whips around and slashes at the armored woman who looks shocked. Somehow she managed to parry his strike but just barely.
Azarra backs away from the oncoming assassin towards the stair case. TWANG-thwack-ufff! The assassin groans as another arrow slams into her side. Mouth drawn to a taught line she ducks and tumbles into a forward roll past Ser Armithia and Zane, hoping to take Ishta down with her. Desperately she lunges and once more Ishta feels the terrible pressure of cold steel punching through her belly blossoming into agony as the rapier is wrenched out!

Zane Levallis |

Zane stepped out of the way of Ser Armithia, teeth gritted in frustration as the assassin hits Ishta yet again after having rolled past the armored men to seek the relatively unprotected sorceress. Moving around the woman, he gave Azarra the briefest of looks before both his spectral mace and all-too-real mace swing in tandem at the would-be assassin. The magical weapon pops out of existence after this third missed attack, while his more mundane smacked into the head of the assassin with a sickening thwunk.

And we don't want that.
5-ft and shoot 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 4 = 15
Damage 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
(If I happen to bring her down, Zane might want to apply his rolls elsewhere...)

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

Ser Armithia again attempts to earn his opponents attention to the immediate threat (yellow). The knight positions himself in a flank with Zane.

DM Fang Dragon |

Ishta staggers back and sends another frigid ray towards the assassin, this time hitting the woman in the eyes. Momentarily blinded she didn't spot Zane's mace as it descended with enough force to dash her brains out. After the dreadful impact, she collapsed like a sack of potatoes leaving Ser Armithia no obvious enemy to fight. You may move or perform some other action instead if you wish.
The armored opponent blanched upon hearing the impact that killed the assassin to the north and withdrew round the corner.

Ser Armithia-Seendren |

perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
She was very careful when stepping past the flagstones at the southern corner.
Nodding in appreciation at both Zane and Ishta, the knight takes off towards the retreating enemy (watching out for the flagstones).
Double move 40'

Kardas Rasalas |

Kardas almost slumps down now that combat is over and the surge of adrenaline is starting to wane. Yes, there's still an enemy about, but she's retreating which gives Kardas room to think. And no thought tastes sweeter than to sink down against this wall right here and rest for a little.
"I don't feel so well" groans the swordmage as his form slumps down against the wall and a bloody clutches a rather messy looking wound.

Zane Levallis |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Derp
With the imminent danger dealt with, Zane gathered everyone and called upon Lathander's grace, a warm light emanating from the priest and his holy symbol, infusing the companions with the healing might of the Morninglord.
Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9
Channel Energy: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12
Wow, those were some good rolls...
The priest nodded when Ser Armithia called out his astute observation. "Let us give chase, then, but keep an eye out for traps. We've removed four of the thieves, but their tricks can be dangerous.

Azarra |

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 darn. so close
Waiting for her turn in their single-file line, Azarra follows the others south as they give chase. She avoids the flagstones in the southern corner carefully when she arrives at that spot, and she keeps a very careful eye on any shadows, knowing that the people here seem to be ultra-stealthy.
She will cast light on a coin and toss it into any especially dark shadows before approaching them.

DM Fang Dragon |

Indeed Zane that tops everyone off.
Both Kardas and Ishta where sorely wounded, having lost a great deal of blood and looking ashen. Suddenly Zane invoked the name of Lathander The Morning Lord and waves of power washed out from him wiping away the companies wounds! And just like that a seemingly dire situation was entirely reversed.
Azarra tosses a coin it clatters and tinkles as it bounced to a stop just round the corner, sending crazy shadows all over.

Azarra |

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Be careful of the flagstones there, see the holes in the ceiling? Definitely a trap if you step on them.
Also, I heard a door closing down the hallway, so be careful before you pass anything up. We have no idea if anyone is up there, or if they are circling around.

Ishta Khosiv |

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
After been cured, Ishta thanks Zane and Lathander. "A pity your Lord doesn't restore spoiled dresses, though..." she jokes.

Azarra |

Azarra hears Ishta's comment and quickly cleans Ishta's dress with Prestidigitation, and then mends it with Mending.
(Provided that combat doesn't start up again before she has time to do so.)

Zane Levallis |

Zane grinned at Ishta’s comment, then smiled even wider as the half-elf stepped in and fulfilled the sorceress’s joking wish. ”The Morninglord and I appreciate your thanks. It’s the least we can do for a brave companion.”
The cleric then rested his green eyes on the fair bard. ”Seems we make a good team.” He winked, sharing a warm smile with her.

As the group prepared to proceed down the hall, Zane stopped for a second, signaling the others to stop moving for a moment. He listened intently, then pointed at door K, speaking softly. ”I heard someone behind that door. Let us close this one behind us so that we can at least know if someone is following us.” With that, the priest makes ready to follow Ser Armithia down the hallway, wisely avoiding the area Azarra had pointed out.

Ishta Khosiv |

Ishta thanks Azarra for the detail. A trick she could have done herself, had she memorised the proper spells - it's always nice to have a friend with a more clear head than herself.
When door K is signaled as the target, Ishta braces herself for the worst. It seems clear her spell selection has been awful so far, and who knows what other surprises await...

Azarra |

Azarra blushes when Zane winks at her, and smiles back before ducking her head to avoid all the others seeing her red face.
