Hello all. I'll try to get my build up tomorrow. Plan on dipping cleric 2nd-level then going straight brawler the rest.


Glad we have a full group now. before we get started, can you each provide me the data needed to fill out a Chron Sheet? That is:

1) Player Name (if different than messageboard handle)
2) PFS Number (and char# for this PC)
3) Faction (if different from your avatar)
4) your starting gold after initial purchases (you will have some time to gear up for specific adventures before they start).

By way of background, I don't have big issues with where you are or how you started, but all of your PC's need to have a driving ambition to join the Pathfinder Society. To that end, they came to Absalom, the City in the Center of the World, to apply for initiation. Unfortunately, all your characters were passed over (for reasons you can expound on as part of background or RP), and they all are commiserating in the same scuzzy inn in Absalom when the curtain rises on the action.

Using the above, you can start making game-play posts in the thread which is now open for business.


Oh, one more thing. Can you send me the list of PFS scenarios you have run? If it's lengthy, you can send as a PM. I just want to make sure we avoid any duplicates as I am planning a progression for you guys. As you play any in other games or RL, just let me know so I can add to the list.

Also, I figure the only place you'll be getting Chron sheets for this PC (for a while) is here, so we should be able to keep pretty good track of consumables, supplies, gold, and upgrades in equipment. Between adventures, you will be able to buy and sell at your heart's content, but we have to do a good job of record-keeping to keep it legal.

I'm still old school and used to balanced parties and no one currently has disable device but groups survive w/o them. As I always hear "play what you want to play" so it's up to you as far as I'm concerned.

It's common to use summoned creatures to spring traps in lieu of a rogue. Sucks for alarm traps though.
Anyway, had a fighter 2/rogue the rest idea for a disarm/catch off-guard build. Just wondered if it might fit better here than a flat brawler.

Well a slayer is a mix already between ranger and rogue. I can make some slight changes to enable more roguish talents. I am dex based already.


Unfortunately, slayer does not have disable device as a class skill.

True but a trait change, vagabond child or criminal, can change that.

You'd also have nothing for magical traps, though you could pick that up with crypt breaker alchemist if you wanted. I'm not sure of any other classes that confer such an ability (other than ranger and rogue, of course).

A slayer gets a slayer talent that gives him the same ability to disable magical traps as a rogue. This talent also makes the skill a class skill if memory serves me correctly. This opens up a few levels into the class.

I was thinking my reason for not being accepted was that I insulted the intelligence of another applicant (a fighter type). Upset, he tried to attack me, but I cast Daze on him so that I could get away. Obviously, this behavior goes against the duty of cooperation that Pathfinders adhere to. I was just going to have it be some random person but Orovan could fit the bill if you're up for it and the GM doesn't object. It could make for an interesting dynamic initially until we learn to respect one another.

Fellas -

I don't want to get too bogged down in this part of the story, as it's something I created to get you out to the actual scenario and perhaps these individuals will be repeating characters in your further adventures.

I am glad you are asking them questions instead of blindly jumping to the hook, but the amount of money they offer is an issue. If this is going to be a legal PFS game, you aren't going to be able to take their coin over the amount on the Chronicle sheet. You also aren't going to be able to "loot" the fallen tower as the NPC suggests except to the extent items are purchased from the Chron sheet. That's why I kept referring to the amount as "lucrative" or "substantial" rather than a quoted amount.

The amount they will be offering is what you'll net from the Chron sheet, if you return the artifact to them, but then you won't get the loot value on top for PFS purposes.

Just want to be clear and avoid misunderstanding at reconciliation time. Please let me know you understand this issue before we proceed too much further.

No problem DM DoctorEvil. For myself, I am aware what you original intent was. I am enjoying the opportunity to role play with it a little. I think the added introduction is a great idea. I was just tossing in a little RP for the sake of fun. I can’t speak for the rest of the crew, but I openly invite any added content you wish to work into the game. If you wish I will refrain from any non-essential dialog in the future.


Please liven up the game with RP as much as you like, especially if you've played/run it before; it sweetens the deal a bit. I just wanted to be clear on the rewards on the front end.

I am enjoying the by-play myself...it's making me work a bit.

A little new to animal companions. I am trained, but have a 7 cha.

So I just had 1 skill rank, 3 for trained, -2 for cha, for a total of +2. I had indeed missed the +4 from "link."
